• Hi all. We have had reports of member's signatures being edited to include malicious content. You can rest assured this wasn't done by staff and we can find no indication that the forums themselves have been compromised.

    However, remember to keep your passwords secure. If you use similar logins on multiple sites, people and even bots may be able to access your account.

    We always recommend using unique passwords and enable two-factor authentication if possible. Make sure you are secure.

What Makes A Good Thread

I did use the Search Button. This is currently not approved by anyone, this is just one of my crazy ideas to try and help the forums and cut down on stupid threads. This is not in either FAQ. If this causes more harm than good I apologize in advance. Please edit if you wish to add something, or close and simply add to the FAQ thread go right ahead. ;025;

1. Use Common sense: If a question is obvious don't ask. Or if it is a simple question you can PM a fellow member(like me) or an SPPF mod(probably they would prefer asking questions pertaining to their specific sub-forum they mod). Look at bottom of each Sub-forum.

2. Use Search Button: In my short tenor here I have noticed that few things PO a mod more than is duplicate thread. (I having created a few). It is located on the Bar up top. Here is a link.
http://www.serebiiforums.com/search.php

3. Place in Correct Forum: Another thing that I have noticed that frustrates the staff is placing it in in the wrong section. Think dose Dose something pertaining to Ash go? In the Anime section. Thinking is critical. Also using correct grammar and spelling brings a smile to Serebii.

4. Ask question in a way that makes sense: If you what to know something about a picture you found Do Not put as the title "Question" It gives no info on the true topic. A better title would be " Question on Insert Picture topic

5. Regarding Polls: Polls are useful tools that show the opinions of the members. Just remember keep the Question and the Answers to the point.

6. Be Patient/ Courteous: The answer may not come immediately or be correct. There are many rumors are floating around the web. If false info comes be Courteous, it was most likely on accident. If people troll don't post that is counted as SPAM. Use Report Button or PM the appropriate mod. The result will not be instantaneous.

7. Mods Know Best: Moderator have LOADS of experience both as active members as well as staff. Look at the joining dates most signed up in 04' and were probably members before that. If you feel that your thread was closed unjustly PM the mod that closed it. Be polite these are professionals and you'll learn something from them if you listen.

uh, also, be nice. An example of a bad post -
Hi! I want to be a mod here and abuse my power like the rest of the mods! I also want to see how many people I can get banned like other mods!
And, also, take criticism. If you don't want any, don't post your sprites / fics / artwork. And don't criticise too harshly. I just want to add to the list.

Heh, one of the most important one that a lot of people seem to ignore is:

Make sure there is actually something to discuss.

Seriously, it's amazing how many threads there are with nothing to discuss.

I updated thread with a GOOD/BAD thread lists. Hopefully members will post links. ;025;

Smeargle_the_painter

no shinies ;_;
also dont create a topic about a question that is on the site pokedex such as breedability attacks Etc., its there for a reason. also it helps make a good thread if you read that specific forums rules first. and by any means necesary, do not bash other people in the thread if they disagree with you.
