What makes a pokemon good or bad? What makes it RU or OU? There are some pretty powerful pokemon in the lower tiers. Some just becuse of weakness.
One example is Rhyperior. Base 140 Attack, 115 Hp, and 130 Def is AMAZING. But, he has 6 weaknesses, all of which happen to be extremely common in competitive battling. Same with Aggron. 2 x4 weaknesses but base 180 Defense.
A lot of the time it's moveset.
Escavelier has about 3 usable offensive moves.
Ability makes a difference, too.
Slaking is arguably the strongest pokemon in the game, or at least he would be without Truant. Amazing stats, and an amazing moveset. Same with Archeops. Defeatist stinks.
Abomasnow, however, is exactly the opposite. Mediocre stats across the board, and 7 weaknesses. But he has Snow Warning. All of a sudden, he's in OU, countering weather teams and helping out in Hail teams.
And then there are some pokemon that I just don't understand Tentacruel is in OU, and yet Milotic outclasses it easily. Similar movesets, but Milotic has better Sp. Def, SP. Atk, and a better ability, yet it is in UU.
Same with Zoroark, whohas better Sp. Atk and Speed than Lucario, as well as a pretty good moveset and a hilarious ability. So why is he in UU?
There are some pokemon who definitely deserve to be in the lower or Higher tiers. Some who don't I may be wrong; the pokemon who I like and think are good actually arent. I dunno. Discuss.
