what pokemon did the anime make look bad?

I Crush Everything
In this thread, discuss what pokemon the anime made look bad. If the anime made the pokemon do terribly in battle or seem clumzy or stupid or just made the pokemon hateable, then post your feelings in this thread.

Habunake, definitely. One minute, it almost kills Kimori, the next minute, it ends up in what's practically a repeat of the Caterpie situation (except this time, at least something powerful like a Heracross knocked them away). The Pokemon didn't get too much redemption with Azami, considering it wasn't her final, trump card-like Pokemon, and it got offed by Donphan when it couldn't have taken out anything itself... all they needed to do was reverse the order of those rounds. Why the hell did they do things as they did? Hell, snakes in general seem shafted... Nokotchi almost never appears, and Arbok was Habunake's predecessor. Fortunately, Rocket Pokemon get at least some glorified moments, but their losses seem to greatly counter that.

Oh yeah, and Ariados. It not only gets the worst humiliation a Pokemon could suffer, but it couldn't even redeem itself by placing 1st in the appeal round of its next appearance (and it was again upped by the bas**** that beat it previously). Recently, it got set on fire and was blasted off along with 2/3 of Rocket Dan, reappearing later, burnt.

The original three Eievui evolutions, too. They got their a**es kicked by Arbok and Matadogas, only to be upstaged by their uberfied pre-evolution owned by a little boy who never battled before in his life.

Normally cute Chimecho, but when it's blown up with TR it makes a face like Wobbuffet. >.<

I fail to see what the Pokémon's character design has to do with the way it was treated in the anime. Remember, Nintendo designs these things for the video games first and the anime second.

I nominate pretty much any Pokémon that showed up in the Jouto region just for the sake of being showcased, then was never heard from again (Teppouo, Gligar, Himeguma, Kimawari, etc.).

They make Umbreon look evil when he's/she's with Gary in the beginning of the anime....And they made it look really bad when it got beat real bad by Pikachu...

Uh, Gligar was Masmune's signature Pokemon in the Hoenn league.

It not only had an entire battle to itself where it KO'd a Marowak and Machamp, but it also took out Ash's Grovyle when he faced it later on.

Gligar may have been ignored in Johto and early Hoenn, but it was spectacular in the Hoenn league.

Pikachu never beat Umbreon.

I thought that was sort of weird. And poor Growlithe, one of
many pokemon i like, got beaten easily by Marowak and later
on by Corphish...They made him look really weak.

I think Seviper and Cacnea are really cool Pokemon, but they
always get beaten up because they belong to Jessie and Harley..
It,s not fair.

Yeah, in reality, Pikachu is too low on defense and HP to saty on the battlefield as long as Ash's does, honestly.

Also, there is Herecross is way too overpowered, he's cool, but too strong.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that...but at least my other examples are still valid.

I'll include Misdreavus. First of all, we have it running away in the Raikou special, and then the next time it appears it nearly gains glory against Phanpy only for it to be halted by the Rockets, and later humiliatingly by Entei. And then after that, we see one stuck under a tree.

Talk about appearing for the sake of appearing.

little bas**** had it coming, I say. It's been glorified several times before, and is even the signature Pokemon of most Junsa the characters encounter (for that matter, I think it got some action very recently at the time against Bannai, when he stole the Ribbon Cup). Hell, in Kantou, there're like two episodes featuring it that are extremely close together (the appearance of Kojirou's Gaa-chan, and the episode where Junsa's training them). When they could've given Masamune any other Pokemon, they give him that thing... I'm thankful it got the crap beaten out of it. Besides, you have no reason to complain, since Guardie appeared yet again in an early Battle Frontier episode, along with its equally over-showcased evolution.

actually, I think that Danbal/Metang was clearly played up to be his signature Pokemon. Nontheless, Gligar performed very well and likely his second most prevelant Pokemon.

Nah... those Pokemon are undershowcased, given, but this thread seems to be asking for Pokemon that are outright humiliated and portrayed to be crappy whenever they appear. Though Jouto Pokemon don't get much showcasing, they're hardly portrayed as bad (hell, several were practically turned into deus ex machinas in their showcase episodes). For instance, I can't say Teppouo was put in a bad light, since all we've really seen it do is get together and deflect a Monster Ball, shoot arcs in that orienteering episode, used as a pistol in a Western, and kick Kasumi's Saniigo's a** (yay! ^^) in order to evolve into Octan. It may need to be in more situations, but it's hardly getting its a** kicked in the ones that are there.

Houndoom. It lost to a bayleef, but more importantly May's weak pathetic little Skitty. I felt like running that pink furball over with a tractor after humiliating Houndoom. Same goes for Dusclops.
