What should the D/P starters role be in the Anime?

Psydaquil

Psyduck + Cyndaquil
Well, i really dont want to see ASh get all 3 again.

I would like them to all go to differnt trainers, I think thats what made The Hoenn saga so good because ASh had fire , water, that werent starters.

But I would like Ash to get the Fire or Water starter this time, Brock Fire or Grass, and MAy Grass or Water.

I would like Ash to start up the unrealistic team set of Dark, Ghost, Dragon, Bug, and so on, types that will probably never be realized. Have any and all starters go to supporting cast/someone else.

RaikousThunder

Poison Tail!!
I like Ash having a Grass starter but now that he has a set of them i think he should get a Fire starter. If Brock goes with them to the D/P region he should get Fire and May can have Water to replace Squirtle ^_~. I wish they would release the Starter pokemon designs, i want to see what they look like. That might also determine who i think would be best. New Dual type starters would be good, especially if it gives Ash a type he hasnt had before, like Dark or Ghost(Haunter does not count)

CyberCubed

Yeah, ok!
I don't want him getting any of the D/P starters. He has 3 grass Pokemon, 4 water types, and 3 fire types. That's enough ktx.

If they must have the starter Pokemon with main characters, slap them with May at the very least, or whoever else is traveling with them.

Magus

Fog Trainer
Give the Grass starter to May. Fire and Water are already represented in her lineup, but Grass isn't. The writers should keep her Bulbasaur Oaked, because that species has already gotten plenty of screentime. Give her the Water starter too, and have her Squirtle join the Squirtle Squad or something. Like Bulbasaurs, Squirtles have already gotten a ton of screentime. Let's focus on other Pokémon.

And if Charizard doesn't come back again (I know, he's gotten a ton of screentime too, but he's one of Ash's all-stars, so it would make sense for him to come back some more), Ash should get the Fire starter. Maybe even catch it before D/P, since he doesn't have any Fire Pokémon with him.

Brock...should catch a Rock-type or two. Remember how he used to be a Rock specialist? Bonsly's a start, but if he's going to stay with the group he should at least have something comparable to his old Onix.

I actually wouldn't mind them continuing to keep with the current set-up IF the future starter pokémon had some interesting dual types under their belts. If it was a fire/fighting type for example, I'd like them to put more emphasis on its fighting attributes.

This I agree with the most. May get the grass starter, Brock gets the water starter, and Max gets the fire starter off the local professor, 5 pokeballs, a pokedex, them make him visit Hoenn with may to visit the parents. Then around the first or second gym, make them come back. It's a good plot device to get Max to become a trainer, get Ash and Brock to travel around, then bring them back with Ralts from Izabe back.

Well what would be the point of Max has pokemon? Ash is a trainer, Brock is a breeder, and May is a Coordinator.

On topic: I think ash should get the "cooler" looking pokemon, may gets the "cuter" looking pokemon, and brock gets the one that nobody want :p

Which can be proven by, Treecko, considered cooler than the other two, Torchic can you say cute? That leaves Mudkip for Brock :p

Also Max might become like Tracey you know there was that scene (it's an avatar now :O) where he is like Tracey drawing Pokemon. Hopefully not since one Tracy is enough.

But there maybe some new D/P thing Max would do. Or May might get a new thing if contests don't continue on to D/P and stay in Hoenn (hope not)

Well I want Ash to get all the starters :p so he will have a new balanced team and with a new flying type aswell. And of course I want him to catch a legandary just for once tho.

Sharpshooter

Battle Factory Champion
I've always liked Ash getting a starter, but all three because then it makes future episodes predictable and waste's space for other rarer/more important pokémon for him to have.

Ash cannot possibly catch a legendary without destroying the world. And if you can tell me that Ash would have been better with Torchic and Mudkip instead of Torkoal and Corphish, and that Brock and May would be better without starters, then you're stuck in Johto, mate.

The Benmeister

Hmm...Ash is pretty atuned with Grass starters...but, I think he would be better with the Water one.

Because currently all of his main team Water types (Kingler doesn't count) haven't evolved at all (luckily, Squirtle and Corphish are powerful anyway), so if he gets the Water starter then it will most likely evolve (unless he gets every starter) and finally he will have a main team Water Pokemon that isn't in their basic stage.

Failing that, stick him with the Grass one again. Brock suits Fire types so he should get that one (if he is even in the show anymore in the next saga). Stick May with whoever's left, or the more contest-appealing Pokemon.

Yes, i definintly agree with that, seeing as Max doesn't really do anything. :/ Maybe Brock could get a better storyline instead of boring old pokemon breeder.
Oops, going of topic.

Brock should get a fire type, since he doesnt have one and Ash and May do.

Lil Brother

Just kinda there.
If our group stays the same:

Ash: As much as a want him to continue the tradition of having the personality-developed Grass starters (all three have had more to them than the Fire or Water starters), I think he should get a Water type. Becuase if we're going with the Johto route and Pokes are Oaked as we go, I think Sceptile would be one of the last to go. And don't think we're going to have another Bulbasaur/Bayleef situation, tthe writers probably realized their mistake in that.

Brock: First off...

Vulpix. :p

Eh, I agree. Fire suits Brock for some reason.

May: Water type. [SPOIL]Hopefully the reason we get so much of Squirtle is because the writers will write it off soon, leaving her without a Water type. Hey look, a Water starter! Pokeball, go![/SPOIL]
