What was the biggest "wtf" moments in the anime for you?

How Ash can come up with such creative gym strategies.

I prefer to see him actually train to perfect strategies for Gym battles, such as when he trained his Pokemon to develop the Counter Shield. Him inventing strategies on the fly usually comes off as contrived when it's done as a last-minute resort.

And it always happens after he’s observed his opponents’ style and methods of battling and noticing an opening or flaw in their strategies. With Blaine, Ash noticed that Magmar was taking full advantage of the volcano and that if it was flown into the air, it could not do anything to block an attack. With Whitney’s Miltank he noticed any bump in the ground would disrupt the rotation of the attack and slow down the speed.

I suppose that my core complaint about Satoshi's extraordinary observational skills is that it's almost always showcased during battles, while he's usually incredibly dense in most other situations, like when the Rocket-dan trio are in disguise and he fails to realize that it's them.

I suppose it’s because Ash is more focused when he’s battling that he notices tiny details that he’d normally miss. Everyone has that one thing that will make them focus on it more than any other thing.

Has Ash ever legitimately caught a ghost type? If not,
So let me get this straight. Not only does Ash catch a fully evolved psudo legendary, he gets his 1st ghost type, which is ironically the evolution of the 1st ghost type he ever bonded with?! This Anime really has been about breaking trends these past years!

Ash's Grovyle taking out Winona's Altaria using nothing but Grass-type attacks

What bothered me the most about that match-up was that Tyltalis only knew two attacks, and one of them was Peck which is a very simple Flying-type move. You'd think that as a Flying-type specialist Nagi would've taught her Tyltalis Aerial Ace or something stronger like Sky Attack, instead.

Biggest “wtf” moment was probably that stunt Ash pulled against Lucy with the whole “Pikachu shocking itself to make an electric shield and running though twister” or something bizarre like that. I was very unimpressed but mostly confused by the whole situation and scratching my head afterwards. Made no sense.

Tobias’s Darkrai was a “wtf” moment for me as well, but in a cool way, seeing as our protagonist was built up to (possibly) fight him in this epic battle. I was shocked, but in an excited way.

I just ran, I ran all Night and Day ~
Several Actually

-When Ash "Died" in the first Pokemon Movie

-When Tobias first showed up

-Thunder Armor

-Hunter J's Death scene (seriously wtf was that?)

-Ash-Greninja (This needs no explanation)

-When Ash won the Alola League

-Lillie's voice in the English Dub

-When Ash Caught Dragonite

-When Scorbunny evolved really early in the anime

-Not necessarily related to the anime but Incineroar getting into Smash Bros caught me off guard

-Korrina, Raihan and Sobble showing up in the Teaser Trailer (in a good way tho)

I'm sure there's more but these were just off the top of my head

Why did Ash get turned in stone by Mew and Mewtwo attacks?

Probably the Wiscash episode when Nero (the Giant Wiscash) ate Sullivan’s Master Ball

Why did Ash get turned in stone by Mew and Mewtwo attacks?
I figured it was the result of two conflicting Psychic energy attacks colliding and Ash’s human body couldn’t handle the impact. Both Mew and Mewtwo were fighting over whose ideals were correct and unleashing pure energy attacks against each other with no holds barred.
