• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.
  • Hi all. We had a couple of reports of people's signatures getting edited etc. in a bad way. You can rest assured this wasn't done by staff and nobody has compromised any of our databases.

However, remember to keep your passwords secure. If you use similar passwords to elsewhere which has been accessed, people and even bots may be able to access your account.

We always recommend using unique passwords, and two-factor authentication if you are able. Make sure you're as secure as possible

What was the inspiration for your username?

Tenmashi

Member
The name Tenmashi is derived from the words 'tenma', which means 'demon' in Buddhist Japanese, and 'tenshi', which means 'angel' in Japanese. Ergo, my name sorta means 'demon angel', it is the meaning I was going for at least.

MysticVegeta

Meng World Order
My name comes from the time that Vegeta ascended mount Zetaboards and was greeted by the legendary NormalSSJGoku. He was then granted mystical power, and thus, became MysticVegeta.

Muddy120

Muddy Warrior
Pokemon, haha. Mudkip, muddy120. The similarities are almost nightmarish. I loved playing Pokemon Sapphire so much as a kid and loved Mudkip and its evolution line so much that its been my username and all that ever since, haha.

Auraninja

Eh, ragazzo!
I want to clear up any confusion that my name means aura ninja. That is incorrect.

My name is a combination of different things.

I began my sign up on Club Nintendo (a long time back) with the name choice, aura-nin.

Aura refers to psychic energy. Though aura in Pokemon is typically shown as a Special Fighting ability, I took a different route with that idea.

"Nin" is short for Nintendo. I love the company and this was Club Nintendo.

The combination of these terms is a pun on the term, anuran, the scientific taxon for anything frog related.

My previous screen name was "Psychic Politoed" which was to entertain the idea that Politoed "should" have Psychic typing. The idea was more hypothetical than anything, as I don't realistically believe the would change the typing (unless a mega comes this way, but I see that happening anytime in the future).

When retiring Psychic Politoed, Greninja was leaked an became a big favorite of mine. I got rid of Psychic Politoed as a name because I didn't think it was terribly unique. Someone could call themselves Aquatic Magcargo, for example, if they wanted to and have the same sort of idea with it.

With hyphens slightly discouraged in the name thread, I turned "aura-nin" into auranin, and I put "ja" as a suffix to make it "auraninja". Ja is also a German word for yes, which is a language I have studied and loved, so I had that as a bonus idea.

Greninja became my new favorite Pokemon. I went crazy with his Smash reveal, and I love playing him (though I'm not very good at Smash).

My love for frogs extended as long as I can remember, as I loved them during preschool. Fun fact, I went to preschool at the age of 3, making me the sibling that has the most school experience, despite being the second youngest out of four siblings.

Actually, middle of five, but I'm not going into what happened there quite yet. I don't think my youngest sister can even walk.

Inconspicuosaurus

Bone-ified dinosaur
I was once in a very boring lab class at university whilst studying Geology. We were doing some tasks set by a worksheet that featured a cross section of a lagoon. I started doodling on the sheet and drew a plesiosaur swimming in the lagoon. A friend looked over my shoulder and pointed out that we had to hand these sheets in at the end of the class. I sad nah, it's cool, I'll give him a disguise so the professor doesn't even notice. I drew a fake mustache and beard on the plesiosaur, gave him a bowler hat and briefcase and re-labelled him "Inconspicuosaurus". I liked the way the portmanteau worked so much that I started using it for things online, and eventually got my name changed to it on here. Also, the prof didn't say anything, so it clearly worked.

kanrasan

My username comes from an anime called "Durarara". There's this character named Izaya Orihara, and he goes into a chatroom with the username Kanrasan. For some reason I remembered this detail, and I thought the name had a nice ring to it. It's the username I use for a few sites.

Conquering Storm

Driver of the Aegis
I just named myself after one of my favorite characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog comics.

MoonSong

Frosty the Ninetales
MoonSong came from Woodsong, a book by someone, and Moonblast, my favorite Fairy-type move. Moonblast+WoodSong=MoonSong.

now ^that's a pretty great username story.

Mine is the one I use everywhere. It is the english lettering version of 夢の影(ゆめのかげ), with 夢(ゆめ)(yume) meaning "dream", 影(かげ)meaning "shadow", and の(no)being a connecting grammar particle. It's Japanese btw, and means "dreamshadow" or "shadow of a dream", depending on how you want to translate it. I'm studying Japanese, and I really like the combination... One of my favorite manga is also Nightmare Inspector in the English title or 夢食い見聞(ゆめくいけんぶん)(yumekui kenbun) (nightmare-eating observations) in the Japanese. It deals with the story of Hiruko, a baku (a nightmare-eating yokai), and the people that come to him for help... incidentally, the drowzee and munna pokemon lines are based off the baku, which is supposed to look something like a tapir, enough so that the japanese word for tapir is the same.

Bananarama

The light is coming
My new username comes from the 80s girl group of the same name. I definitely prefer this username over the last one I used.

AmethystLeslie

Well-Known Member
Amethyst is my birthstone (for the month of February), Leslie is my name.

I've used this handle for some other sites as well, and picked it as a fandom-free name so it wouldn't look dated 5 years down the road.
