What you name you pokemon and why?

Pokemon from my party on greenleaf:
Rhydon: Saidon, Sai means rhynoceros.
Nidoking: Gaidoku, which means poison.
Salamence: Sukaigon, Sukai= Sky; gon= for dragon.
Venusaur: Dokusa, Doku means poison; kusa= grass
Alakazam: Kokoro, means mind.
Raichu: Daidairo, that means orange.

Other pokemon that I sometimes use:
Pidgeot: Hatori: Hato= Pigeon; tori= bird
Vaporeon: Mizu that means water.
Raiku: same name.
Houndoom:
Piloswine:
Feraligart:
Noctowl:
Espeon:

I generally don't name my Pokemon but it has been a "tradition" for my brother and I to name our Linoones BANDIT. It just fits somehow.

All my pokemon have very weird names, but I'll just mention the weirdest. In my LeafGreen version, I named my Sneasel Shui. I don't know why, I just thought of it at the time because I read it on some website a little earlier.

Gardevoir - Gardy (Just a shortened name. Fits her, even... )
Salamence - Etowa-Ryu (Star Dragon in Japanese. )
Pinsir - Crusher (Sounds tough, and couldn't think of a star-related name for him...)
Jolteon - Sparkster (Nice ring...)
Magmar - Solaris (Star-related again. )
Metagross - Alpha (Star-related... =o)
Steelix - Terrato (Cool ring, and greek-rooted.)
Hitmonchan - Apollo (Star-related. XD.)
Gengar - Sirius (Take a wild guess. )

I named my Scizor Zero after my favorite character. My Blastoise was named Big Blue for awhile, but I changed it back to his natural name.

As a rule I usually don't nickname my Pokemon. However I always make an exception for shiny Pokemon. My Pelipper from my friend is named Green (creative, huh?) and my Dusclops from my friend is Rare Red (a little more creative). My own, self-caught Linoone is named Ziggy. I thought that was a great name for a Zigzagoon-Linoone Pokemon.
