What's a carnivore?

One think that has caught my curiosity is at the episode 46 in the first season of pokemon when ash meets Aerodatyl, dexter then says that it was a carnevoir or something, and i checked the pokedex, and there is no such pokemon as a carnevoir.

So where does this all come from?
