In ruby if you play as a female, your rival's name is Brendon and if you play as male, your rival's name is May. What are the real names of the main characters in FR/LG? I know you get to pick the name, but what's the original one?

Hmm... perhaps they don't have a real name?

But seriously, I don't know what their names are, I don't think they really have one.

Though you could say the boy's name is Red, since that was supposed to be the male protagonist's name in the first generation games, and you battle him on Mt. Silver in GSC, where his name's Red. Also, Red is the name of one of the manga protagonists, and the manga is based off the games, and Red in the manga's character design is based on the ingame main character design.


For the girl, she's a new character in Fire Red and Leaf Green, so maybe she really has no real name. Though Blue (female one) in the manga does look like the FR/LG girl, Blue (or Green, since that was the manga girl's name in the english version) may possibly be her name.

Red is the main male char, Blue is the main female char, and Green is your rival. Red and Green were from the original Red and Green versions, while Blue was based off of her manga counterpart (or so I've heard).

Are you serious??? I think they are supposed to be Ash and Gary. ESPECIALLY since Gary is related to Professor Oak in the show and Gary is SOOOO annoying with his dumb sayings Plus, the character in the game looks ALMOST EXACTLY the same as Gary in the show. As for Ash proof, in Yellow you did get pikachu which was a spin off of the Red and Blue games. If you ask me, it's Ash and Gary. That's my opinion.

I've always considered the main guy's name to be Red and the rival's name to be Blue, due to Gold and Silver's "permanent" naming of them...remember that Blue was the new Gym Leader of Viridian in G/S? and of course Red was the ultimate challenge on Mt. Silver. Well, just my two cents. As stated before it's really up to you.

Yeah yeah yeah. Red and Blue in G/S. But how can Red coincidentally have all the main pokemon Ash has? Still with Blue, HE LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE GARY IN THE SHOW. Also, thanks for saying something about Red in G/S. Red in G/S also looks like Ash because he has Ash's hat. Notice, Red wears a hat, Ash wears a hat. Come on.
