What is the point of the battle frontier? It is hard to beat and kind of dumb!
Anyone really know why it's there?

Because its challenging, fun and new.

People doesn't want the "Only A Battle Tower" thing, it will be boring, and after you beat the Elite 4, you won't feel boring and can go visit the battle frontier. It makes people more eager to beat the elite 4.

Ummm..... What if people's pokemon aren't strong enough and they cant beat the people at battle frontier and their strongest pokemon are level100, 96, and88. And i think the battle tower is dumb, too!

So close, yet so far
Well, the Battle Frontier is one of the main new features of Emerald. Aside from being able to get all three legendaries.

As for the levels of your pokemon, well, if you enter level 88, 96 and 100 pokemon, then your opponent's pkmn will be 100. And, there are rare items that can ONLY be recieved at the Battle Frontier.

Then again, everybody has different opinions. Not everybody HAS to like the Battle Frontier. Some of the people I know only got Emerald because they either wanted the Jhoto pokemon or obtain Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza.

Well said. The battle frontier is for hard-core pokemon trainers who know how to battle properly. Ya know there are great rewards waiting for ya! Like rock slide move tutor for heracross to cover fire weakness!Fire punch and ice punch for your gengar!Alot of useless but fun to try moves. Try rest and snore(though it sucks)combo!Teach your regirock thunderwave to slow down your opponent. Let your kyogre defense curl(yes thats stupid)Alot of rewards like dolls and items. And theres the altering cave for your very own smeargle! Catch them, make your dream attack combo by sketchin the moves!
See all that **** in the frontier, its worthwhile raising killer pokemon for the sake of winning the prizes!

I actually found this question worth considering for a bit, though my answer presented itself just as quickly. It's worth challenging as a bonus quest, and it also continues the trend of specific regions having features characteristic to themselves. (But yeah, Crystal had BT as well)

Um what are the ones for the first two generations? o_o

Anyways, for the question, the Battle Frontier is challenging, but it's fun. Plus, it gives the game a lot more replay value. In every game until Crystal, once you'd beaten everybody, all there was to do was fill up your pokédex and raise pokémon. Although unless you were going to do link battles with friends, there really wasn't much point in raising pokémon to level 100. Which made the games boring. Crystal introduced the Battle Tower, which gave people the modivation to raise pokémon more (at least, it did that for me). But that battle tower was insanely hard, each and every pokémon had insane stats and really good moves. I myself only ever beat it once, and that was with a Lugia, Ho-Oh and a Raikou in my team. Ruby/Sapphire introduced a Battle Tower similar to Crystal's, but at the same time, different. Firstly, it starts off easy, and as you continue to beat consecutive strings of trainers, the difficulty level increased. Eventually you could even face legendaries!
However our problem returned in FR/LG, where once you'd beaten everything, aside from getting a full pokédex and training for link battling, there was nothing to do. No, don't tell me "Trainer Hill", because Trainer Hill is absolutely nothing. It's fun the first time, and that's it. It's only good for getting an item when you win, and maybe for getting another couple of pokémon added to your pokédex as "seen". Oh and seeing a couple of shinies, but that just taunts you, since you can't catch them.
So now we have emerald, and Nintendo has decided to improve on that Battle Tower. AND THAT THEY DID. Not only did they change the prizes to battle points that could be redeemed for whatever prizes you want as opposed to being given an item at random, but there are several different things you can do with them. Not only that though, there are 7 different areas to battle in, and each one poses a specific challenge. You also get to collect symbols, as opposed to just trying to get a higher streak. Not to mention just about every pokémon can be battled here, from Magikarps to Tyranitars to Suicunes. IMO the Battle Frontier is awesome, but everyone has their opinion. I don't think there's anything existing in the world that everybody likes (except perhaps money lol).

P.S. BulbasaurB.k., If you're having trouble with the Frontier, you may want to read the guide I made. The link's in my signature, or you can find it in the R/S/E FAQs (subforum to this one).

Something like searching will give you answers. >>;

For challenge and fun for others. Besides, for those that like it and participate in it a lot can get more Battle Points for vitamins for stats and move tutor moves.. such as Thunder Punch, Ice Punch, Fire Punch, and many more. A lot more reasons to Battle Frontier but I don't feel like saying.. and I don't even participate in it, yet do you see me making a thread saying it's stupid? No.. >>;

It's hard to beat because.. it's made that way? It takes the highest level of your Pokémon, like every other tower thing in the other games. Dunno about G/S/C since I never played them.

Besides, if you notice something, the anime sort of takes after the last games of the two same-date-release ones.. >>; Like Yellow --> Crystal maybe --> Emerald. And now it's the Emerald - Battle Frontier. That was my fun fact/sort-of off topic statement. Cough..

The Battle Frontier is for the real deal competitive trainers. Although, still notches below Netbattle, it's the closest thing that's Nintendo licensed to a good competitivbe battling feel.

It's there for the trainers who just plain love to battle.

The Battle Frontier isn't that hard, as long as you've trained your Pokemon right. Heck... even my Umbreon, who was EV trained in Special Attack and Speed, rather than Defense (don't call me stupid, you impossibly annoying Elitists. It's my Pokemon, not yours), can still kick arse at practically all the challenges the Battle Frontier has to offer. ;)

You could count Stadium 1 and Stadium 2...

I like the Battle Frontier. It takes everything we've been used to so far and adds in awesome twists to present new and awesome ways of battling. Battle Dome's tactical attire to choose two out of three that'll be best. Battle Palace's unexpected twist of letting your Pokémon battle by themselves. Battle Arena's setting of three moves. Battle Pyramid's mix of quest and battles. Battle Pike's randomness and fun. Battle Factory's challenge a la Challenge Cup, but MUCH more bearable and where you have more control over it all. And as if it wasn't enough, the Battle Tower is still there, giving the usual challenge.

Is it worthy? Maybe not. But it adds sickeningly high replay value. Maybe it gets a bit too hard as you go on, but it's been like that in all those major challenges. The only way the CP can take you down is with an increased luck...

It also has awesome prizes, and it's finally a hard enough quest to get the last Star in your Trainer Card. It's quite a feat...

It might be a bit excruciating as you go on, but the Battle Frontier was an excellent addition. Probably the best extra of them all in Pokémon Emerald.

if you think the BF is boring and pointless then apparently your "unevolved" treecko and bulbasaur arent strong enough

if you actually TRY and not just whine about it you can win some battles
its an actual challenge unlike a battle with Pokefan Isabel or something. If you cant handle the toughness of the BF, then find some level 5 zigzagoons and see if you can beat them.

and we dont care if you dont like the BF cause all of us here have the common sense to NOT complain about such things

Cool Cid, in the American version its called the Altaring Cave, they have a different name from the European or Japanese version. And Smeargle doesnt suck if you use him right.

The only reason you dont like it is because It's hard for you to beat so you dislike it.

Heh, so this is turning out to be a "What does the Battle Fronteir mean to you" Thread. Well, here's my view:

Personally, I think it's the sheer wanting of the medals, the thriving for the top, and the harsh training to hone your skills and Pokemon. I also enjoy seeing a change in scenery once in a while, being able to fight different pokemon, not just the same trainers over and over again. My fave facility is the Dome, because it is just so cool to see an audience (even though it's just some fake digital sprites ^^'') and feel like you are in an intense tournament, thriving for the championship, and when it gets down to the finals, you give it your all to beat the final opponent.

Erm...Did that sound a little corny...?

I like it very much! It's a way to keep Pokemon players busy in their Games. If Emerald didn't have the BF, it would be boring, seeing that it's almost a total copy from the R/S versions...

XRay

---what I'm getting
The Battle Frontier is the main reason why I bought emerald. It's a huge update to ruby and sapphire. The rare items, moves(like elemental punches) and 7 different facilities are a great challenge that were kind of missing in r/s.
bulbasaurb.k. try entering by using pokemon that have a small difference between levels, and not using your strongest.

why is this thread still open? i mean, this is just a thread about the thread maker complaining about the Battle Frontier. Anyways battle Frontier is more worthwhile in the games than anything else. I admit it's damn hard, but it feels soooo good when you get a symbol.

It's just for fun, you don't have to do it if you don't want to.
