What's with the little banners?

I'm not sure if this is the right place, I'm not sure if there's a thread like this already, but why are there suddenly little banners by everyone's avatars?!

To sum it up, they are simply pictures relating to your post rank.

It should be pretty easy to tell. For example, you are a Marsh Trainer cause your banner has Sabrina, Psychic Pokemon and the Marsh Badge.
