Torkoal

What? Exactly
I have been playing pokemon games since they first came out [my first gameboy game was red] and i don't get what is with this. you guts give your pokemon such weak moves while I on the other hand give mine powerhouse attacks Example:
My Ideal Torkoal Movepool: Eruption, Fire Blast, Overheat, Heat Wavehttp://www.serebiiforums.com/images/smilies2/324.gif

Volteon

Back I guess??
Those are powerful moves! but toghether they make the worst pokémon!
what would you do when another fire pokémon appears? especially with flash fire.

(Italic: I was lying when I wrote those are powerful moves)

Torkoal

What? Exactly
I sometimes give my pokemon Hyper Beam. What about that?

Four moves of the same type is insanely BAD. One is enough. Also, non-damaging moves are not weak. Take swords dance for instance. Use it once, then attack with a boosted physical attack. Or what if you're using an Umbreon? He doesn't attack very well, and so using defensive moves such as Moonlight to survive longer(easily done with his defences). Also, Sleep Powder RULES if it hits. Paralyzing moves such as Stun Spore are also good. Try it!

You would run into some major problems with a move set like that.

I'm sure in the game you're able to trample over trainers but place that against someone who knows what they're doing and plays competetively and you too would see that those moves aren't as powerful as you think they are.

Using Hyper Beam makes baby Groudon80s cry. ;_;

I don't want it to seem like I'm advertising, but this will help you a lot. Once you get the hang of it, it's really not all that hard to figure out which moves would be good for which Pokemon. Four Fire type attacks on anything means bad news when a Water, Rock, or Ground type (or any Pokemon with high Special Defense) comes out. Using support moves will save your life in every battle. :)

Alakazam needs Lum Berry.

But yeah, the moves a Pokemon knows are more important than its stats. Don't you guys quote me on that as an excuse not to EV train and look for good Natures though.

That move set spells disaster when you go up against the wrong Pokemon. I tend to keep a healthy balance of defense attacks and offense attacks. Usually I only teach one high powered attack per Pokemon because as I continue to train them, there stats become good enough that those attacks are just as strong.

Here are the problems with that moveset:
1= They are all attacking moves. Attacking moves without stat-raising moves or abilities to back them up instantly fail.
2= They are all moves of the same type.... and a very weak type at that.
3= All those moves fail anyway. I laugh in the faces of OHKOs, gimmicks, and low-accuracy moves.
Here's a better moveset for Torkoal; Sunny Day, Flamethrower, Rock Slide, and Rest, with Chesto Berry attached. Use Sunny Day, then a volley of flamethrowers. Torkoal should be able to withstand alot thanks to it's massive defence, and if it ever gets low then use Rest to restore your health and the attached Chesto Berry will wake you instantly.

That's about as good at Torkoal can get. That's the best I can come up with at least. =/

*giggles* You're funny. 4 overpowered moves of the same type phail.

Now THIS is what a Torkoal should have:

Curse
Rock Slide
Explosion
Flamethrower

I think you got it the wrong way around -_-. I'll fight you on NetBattle as you are and prove it.

Yeah really. You only want one, or two of the same type of move on a Pokemon. Your Torkoal should have either Flamethrower or Overheat, those are the best two moves for it. Fire Blast has 85% accuracy, and Heat Wave isn't that great.

Fire Blast is best for curse set which is Torkoal's best set.

Torkoal

What? Exactly
Ok, What about this:
Overheat, Flamethrower, Hyper Beam, and Iron Defense

Horn Drill

ヘタリア!
Overheat + Flamethrower = No no.

Two attacks of the same type, and using Overheat will just make Flamethrower weaker.

Don't use Hyper Beam. Ever. No excuses. It's the worst move ever next to Double Team.

Iron Defense is just asking for someone to come in with a Hazer or PHazer and mess up everything. Or someone could just use Surf and knock out Torkoal right away.

Rock Slide on Torkoal isn't all that great, guys. =/
