Good: Ash vs. Sawyer, Ash vs. Alain
Good fights, good animation, XYZ proving that action scenes are where it really shines.

There were zero problems with Alain winning. People just willingly blinded themselves with a hype train and not understanding the true meaning of the word "ultimate". Ash had zero chance of winning the League once Pikachu went down in that fight. There wasn't a scheduled extra match like with the Alola League that was basically the real Champion battle for Pikachu to win. And for people who love to call Ash mature in this region, they sure hate it when he has a mature reaction of calmly accepting his loss and just being happy to have made it as far as he did.

Bad: Ash's opening rounds being skipped, Charizard Y getting totally shafted in favor of X, that weird thing with the Furfrou guy

Especially Charizard Y getting shafted when it's the cooler design.

Felt lacking in several respects. The battles themselves were decent but the only really memorable stuff was Ash vs Alain mostly because of how angry the climax made people. :p

I would’ve really liked to see Hawlucha’s battle against Absol. People don’t give him enough credit for being the first of Ash’s Pokémon besides Pikachu to defeat a mega in base form..

In fact, I’d have actually loved to see more of Ash’s Kalos League battles in general, to give Noivern and Goodra some more chances to look impressive, rather than making them look sub-par at best..
