When Dark and Light Collide! (854)

I liked this episode a lot. Hawlucha has gotten to be one of my favorite pokemon of Ash's, and it's interesting watching it have to learn how to pretend fight and take hits, but still gets to put on its own battle at the end. I like seeing a shiny hawlucha too, it has the best colors. ^_^ I didn't really like snubbull's voice, I'm so used to the one we had back in season three and four, but gallade was fine. Good episode overall.

8/10

Wow the shiny Hawlucha looked so cool and made me wish that Ash's Hawlucha was shiny hee hee. The play subplot was fun, especially how the two Hawluchas didn't get along. Gallade having crutches was kind of sad tho. :[

Ash's Hawlucha rocked here. But IIRC, this episode aired around the time that the Hoenn remakes were publicly revealed. So with that in mind, I'm surprised that Carl's Gallade didn't Mega Evolve as a way of showing us a new ORAS Mega.

When I saw the Shiny Hawlucha in this episode it made me envious: I wanted Ash to own it so badly since the coloration on it looked so effing cool. I liked the wrestling stuff that we saw and how Ash's Hawlucha got the spotlight.

Team Rocket's outfits during the beginning of the battle are the same outfits they used from the Poke Amie episode. That's a pretty neat callback. Anyway, the battle between the two Hawluchas is great

Watching Satoshi's Luchabull act in a play amused me since he's so theatrical, so the role made perfect sense for him. The tension between him and the Shiny Luchabull was charming to watch as well, and my one regret of this episode is simply that we didn't see Erlade do much of anything.

Seeing Gallade break his leg was really weird. Just seeing it bend like that and the way Gallade's legs are shaped didn't look right. Like I would not have guessed that there was a joint there. The director was none too pleased about Ash interfering with the rehearsal too, so apologies galore from the group. Erlade's anatomy has always seemed weird to me, although it looks flexible, which also makes me question how it managed to receive such an avoidable injury.
