Ash Ketchum pointed to the horizon. “Next stop, Pallet town!”
May sighed and looked up to her friend Brock. “Is he always this excited to go home?”
Brock grinned, “Yeah.”
And when I’m gone just carry on. Don’t mourn, rejoice everytime
You hear the sound of my voice. Just know that I’m looking down at you, smiling.
And now that you’re feeling pain, so baby don’t feel no pain. Just smile back.
“Oh, Max, we should stop by home.” Said May as the four passed through Petalburg.
“Awwww, do we have to?” whined Max. “I wanna see Professor Oak!” Max felt a hand on his shoulder, Ash.
“Listen to your sister Max, go see your parents.” He smiled, “Professor Oak won’t go anywhere.”
Max nodded, “okay Ash.” He followed his sister to their home.
“What should we do now?” asked Brock.
“Wait.” replied Ash.

May stared at her parents. “WHAT!?”
“We want you to stay here. To stay home with us. Both of you.” Repeated Norman.
“No!” screamed Max. “I want to go with Ash and Brock! YOU CAN’T DO THIS!”
“We’re doing this for you.” Carolyn said to her son.
“WELL DON’T!” Max ran out of the house half crying.
Norman sighed. “You understand, right May? We’re doing this for you.”
May nodded. “I understand.”
“Then please go get your brother.” said Carolyn.
May nodded and left the house.

Ash walked outside of the pokemon center. Into the darkness of the night, he stood alone without Brock or pikachu. He looked up at the star filled sky wondering what happened to Max and May. May. He shook his head and looked down at his shoes. Every time she entered his mind, he couldn’t get her out.
“Ash.”
Okay, now he was hearing things.
“Ash…”
The raven haired boy looked up and saw May, standing a few feet before him with tear streaked cheeks. “MAY!”
When they know they in your heart and you know you are their armor.
And you will destroy anyone who would try to harm her.
“I won’t allow it.” Said Ash as he sat beside May on the bench.
“What can you do?” asked May.
“Plenty.” Replied Ash with a smile.
But what happens when Karma turns right around and bites you.
And everything you stand for turns on you despite you. What happens
When you become the main source of your pain?
“I’m sorry Ash, but our decision is final. Max and May are staying.” Said Norman.
Ash nodded. “Lets go.” Pikachu hopped on Ash’s shoulder and Brock stood up.
“Wait!” May looked into Ash’s chocolate eyes. “Just stay tonight. It’s too dark out.”
Carolyn nodded, “I’ll go start on diner. Will you help me Max?”
“Okay.” Said Max.
“I’ll help too.” Said Brock walking into the kitchen.
“Pi pikachu!” Pikachu followed Max in to the kitchen.
Ash grinned at May and took her hand. “I have to tell you something.” He pulled her outside into the beautiful evening.
May looked up at Ash with a confused look. “Whats wrong, Ash?”
“Nothing.” He replied. He wanted to look at her face forever…

“May, I may never see you again.”
“Yeah.” Said May bitterly.
“So, I thought…” continued Ash. “I should tell you my feelings.”

“Drew?” May looked up at Ash.
“I always didn’t like him. But when you and him became close, I dunno I guess I got jealous.” Ash blushed.
“Funny,” May smiled. “I never thought that the Ash Ketchum would ever get jealous. Anyway, I like you too Ash. Always did. I guessed that you like Misty and kept my feelings secret.”
“You shouldn’t have.” Ash wrapped his arms around the brunette. “I love you May.”
“I love you too.” May hugged Ash back. And suddenly, Ash pressed his lips against her’s. May seemed surprised at first but kissed him back. This was her last night with him, and this was the perfect way to end it.
