I fell out of love with pokemon after gold and silver came out and got back into it when I saw ruby and sapphire were out in the shop. Now we are finally getting to see some diamond and pearl pokemon I'm assuming they did the same with ruby and sapphire releasing one or two at a time. Could anybody make a list of what ones were shown before the games come out and like where they were shown, for example in a movie or on a website or in the tv programme? I'm just really curious. Thanks in advance.

In Australia they released them all at the same time on a TV ad for the game.

IIRC, the first three released were Keckleon, Azurill and Wailmer.

Then they released Pokemon like Volbeat, Duskull, Blaziken, Wynaut, the Latis, Sharpedo, Pelipper, the starters, Zigzagoon, Shroomish, Poochyena and Taillow, but I am not sure in which order.

Then I remember they revealed Lotad, Seedot, Sableye and a few others.

Then all the rest were dicovered when the game was released.

Try checking Serebii.net's old news. I think most of the Pokemon were revealed in mid-late 2002.

very nice high five!
In Israel, during the 4th seasion of the show, about early 2002, there was this episode with two Kceleons. One normal and one shiny( it was purpule so I guess it was shiny). I was in shock to see a Pokemon I never saw, because at that time I knew all the 251 Pokemon.

And then...The games were realesed. One of my friends had Ruby and I was watching like a zoombie in the game...I first saw Wurmple, Treecko and all those Pokemon.

And then Wynut appeared in the 5th seasion.

Sadly there were not enough prerealeses of the 3rd generation Pokemon. All of them were known once the games were realesed.

Actually, if you look at the old site news, dozens of them were released before the game came out, and mostly around the same time. I think in a couple of months we'll see a lot of DP Pokemon as well.
