When should I throw in the towel on my Fight Night R2 charater?

I'm considering it after my next fight because all of a sudden he is getting worse, he is about 40 now. We lost our first match today and he was taken down in one punch last fight. He is one match away from a life time achivement award. So should I throw the next match then retire him? Please help.
