You have to go back to the Sunken Ship (or whatever that stupid ship is called) with Dive and Surf. Go down then enter the middle room from the 3 rooms on the bottom corner. It should have a pool of water. Surf, dive, search for keys, blah blah blah yay you got the scanner. Then you head over to Slateport and the Professor of Sea stuff should be in the port. Talk to him and he will give you a choice of Deepseatooth or Deepseascale. Take whatever you want. Deepseatooth in your case.

Abandoned Ship yeah it's pretty easy, just go to that ship near slateport and you'll figure it out
