Which goals would you like to see for future anime protagonists and their friends?

The Legend of Goldwing ✨
So far we’ve had trainers who want to be pokemon masters, type specialists, top coordinators, breeders, doctors etc.

What other goals would like to see or do you just want them to return to previous goals they have already presented to us?

I would like to see a Sky Battle Trainer as a traveling companion. I think it writes itself very easily. This trainer would have a couple of pokemon than can fly, will participate in sky tournaments (in different aerial locations) and collect rewards for it (maybe different colored feathers or something like that)

My other idea is a traveling companion who wants to be the best pokemon figure ice skater. It would be easy to add one partner pokemon into their performances. Incorporate ice skating tricks + pokemon attacks with grace and you have a performance with many different possibilities. It would def have some similarities to contests, but I think there could be enough variation with clever writing.

I always wanted a pokemon ranger esque goal for a side or main character, I think that would be very cool. Obviously it has to be vastly different than what rangers exactly were since I doubt the franchise wants to promote years old spinoffs but you get the idea

I also kind of liked the aspect of the newer series focusing less on goals and more on dreams and personal individual development, but I don’t think the writers have the capability to pull it off in an intriguing way anymore for a weekly series, so I don’t mind them falling on the backbone a more concrete goal gives

Another concept that will be fun to explore in a main character capacity would be an athlete goal

A Sky Battle Trainer sounds pretty neat. They could do aerial battles or some challenging obstacle courses. Bonus points if the trainer has some sort of fear of heights and they want to overcome it through aerial battles.

I miss Pokemon Contests. Showcases were so bland and boring by comparison. I wouldn't be opposed to bringing those back.

I also wonder if it'd be possible to do "X Type Master" goal like Misty and Iris, but instead of keeping it vague, they introduce specific conditions that would grant them that title. But I dunno how they'd do that, maybe something like the Whirl Cup in OS and the winner is granted the title?

I also thought maybe they could do something like Crystal from the manga, a Pokemon Catcher who actually uses a variety of pokeballs and strategies to catch certain Pokemon (basically Goh's initial goal), but I wonder if that would devalue all the captures if the character caught multiple Pokemon and just dumped them in a lab somewhere.

My biggest problem with Goh was that goal was too vague until the project mew stuff started and thus many of his captures didn't feel like they were accomplishing anything. I think if they introduced a character whose goal was catching but looking for specific pokemon (such as looking to complete all the Pokemon in a specific regional pokedex (and thus you could see how close they were to completing their goal). For example if Goh had wanted to complete just the Kanto dex he'd have probably caught a lot less but each capture you would know how close he was to being done. They'd also then be looking for specific pokemon (which you could show them planning where to find certain ones). I think a character focused on catching could work with a specific aim.

Codename: Sailor V!
The main female protagonist that takes the gym and league challenge, without getting overshadowed by any male co-protagonists (especially if they're another generic battle shonen-like one)
In fact the male co-protagonists should be the non-battlers next time.

Otherwise im not interested.

I Agree as long as she's a female battler with... Pikachu and Non-Battler Male with a Eevee but otherwise I'll care less.

To answer OP's question, I'm gonna say Scientist Trainer who researches Pokemon and a co-Protagonist is, an Careless Pokemon Trainer that boasts about his goal.

Mew2

Team Rocket's Enemy
I would like the main goal of a player character to be to take down the evil team. We've had that as an ancillary goal but never as the main goal. Maybe the main character was kidnapped by the evil team only he/she managed to escape the evil team and wants to rescue others who were captured and stop their overarching goal. It would work even better with a character that has a different goal, such as becoming a Pokémon Master, Top Coordinator, Showcase King/Queen, etcetera.

A Sky trainer Battle sounds pretty sick. Love to see that.

I want to see Roy and Liko battle each other to decide who will be champion of Paldea

A scientist trainer could work very well. This might be crazy but I've considered it might be fun to have a ghost specialist who was a scientist.

That could be fun. Especially if they were somewhat undercover and using the co-protagonist to blend in.

A protagonist who does the gym challenge again and friends who have their own goals like contests and stuff like that.
