I have a better competition:

YGO: The Abridged Series vs Naruto: The Abridged Series

Though, from your choices I have to say Naruto. While it has its faults, it is a far better series all round that what is basically a giant marketing gimmick, and I think the characters are better developed.

I don't know which to say exactly, but at least the Yu-Gi-Oh! DM anime has had [SPOIL]two enjoyable (IMO) filler arcs. I mean, Yu-Gi-Oh! DM had 54 filler episodes in a row (55 if you include "Signs/Looking Back and Moving Ahead", though it wasn't really in an arc), and then it stopped. Naruto's had over 65 and they're just like the energizer bunny. They just keep going and going and going...[/SPOIL]

Still, I like the characters from both.

Yu-Gi-Oh seems to be a lot more organized in its storytelling than Naruto is. I also like its mystical aspects with the Egyptian items. The characters are much more likeable, too.

Though, I do tend to enjoy Yu-Gi-Oh GX more due to its more light hearted atmosphere, the characters, the school setting, and there many duels that I found amusing/intriguing. I also like how the secondary characters also duel a lot more than the ones in the original series.

And... I just don't like Naruto... I already gave a short explaination in the Naruto vs Dragon Ball thread.

So, YGO is the better series to me.

While I prefer Naruto over YGO, I actually prefer YGO: Abridged over Naruto Abridged.

GX has Judai x Sho, Judai x Manjoume, Judai x Zane, Asuka x Any guy, Judai x Misawa, Napoleon x Chronos.

So....having a fanmade ship makes it better???!!

Aim for the Top.
If I give my opinion all these 12 year olds will flame me. Regardless of having a truly excellent abridged series, Naruto is superior in everyway to YGO... except character design.
