I'm sorry, but I couldn't resist, okay? And hey, at least this one doesn't have Naruto in it. I really want to see how people are going to respond to this thread. I kinda have an idea, but I really want to see. Yes, I know these "versus" threads are spreading like the "claiming" ones had been, but I still want to do this.

Hopefully, there will be no flame wars, but what can I do? Discuss, please.

Oh, and please put any One Piece spoilers in spoiler tags. I'd say the same for Dragon Ball/DBZ/DBT, but it's ended, so... yeah.

Let the debate begin! (Yeah.)

I'd say One Piece, it takes the whimsicalness of DB, and mixes it with top notch characters (HAMBURG!) , and down right funny and or dramatic scenarios.

However, Oda of course was inspired by DB, so it wasn't worse in his eyes.

The whole DBZ series from the first episode was the greatest anime series of its time. It was alot more popular than most, including One Piece..

Tru 'dat, and Toriyama said in Color Walk 1, "I can see why everyone's so excited about One Piece!" It goes both ways, which is good.

One Piece has awesome characters, interesting twists, very humorous moments, nice art, teaches great lessons on loyalty and friendship, and the fights are never boring (not to me, at least).

While I enjoyed the original Dragon Ball (which has similar traits as One Piece), it still lacked the same kind of depth that OP has. And it never won my heart the way OP did either. Still, it was one of Eiichiro Oda's influences, so that gives it brownie points as well. :)

DBZ/GT... does not have the same quality as its predecessor and it got annoying very fast. I guess you can read more of my opinion on the series at the Naruto vs DB thread (Man, this is the second time I say that today...).

Obviously, One Piece wins this one. ;)

YEAH. I AM GHOS!!
Dragonball and One Piece are both great series in their own right, however One Piece wins. Oda seems to think his story out a lot more than Toriyama who just made stuff up as he went, which is quite evident from the final product. XD

Unless your talking about the dub in which case Dragonball in better than One Piece. (Although, when you're talking about the dub... Even Sesame Street is better than One Piece. XD)

One Piece, definatly. A lot of things were bogged down in the anime version of the Dragon Ball/DBZ, and GT definatly takes the series down a notch or two.

Gah, pitting my two favorites together, are we?

Sorry Dragon Ball, but I just love One Piece a little more. The animation's always on the ball, unlike the rotating art crew for all three DB series' and consitant usage of the crap animators. One Piece's fillers are also loads more enjoyable. Story is what really grabs me, especially. Not to mention, the characters all get their fair share of screen time and still show usefullness.

One Piece.

I may love the Dragon Ball series (the original and Z, the latter part of GT), but the only chunk of it that I'd say was better than One Piece was the original Dragon Ball series, which plot was more adventure focused like One Piece while everything post-Z was more fighting based. As Chris said, One Piece's fillers are much more enjoyable than Dragon Ball's (who actually liked the Garlic Jr. saga and the episodes where the Z Fighters take out the Ginyu Force with ease?) and most of the characters' backgrounds are actually explained in the anime.

Aww... Crap.
Unfortunately, I don't have very much... wait, no, no experience with the One Piece anime, due to 4Kids' crappy dubbing, and my 28.8 kbps connection, so I guess I prefer the anime of Dragon Ball to One Piece.

One the other hand, I've enjoyed the manga of One Piece just as much as, if not more than Dragon Ball.

Anyways... I really love them both, so I can't really decide.

It's reasons like these that made me decide to make this thread. One Piece is pretty well known now, but Dragon Ball has always been a well known series. Like I said before, I did have a feeling which series would win, but I still wanted to see what people thought.

Aim for the Top.
One Piece, easily. It's surpassed Dragonballs length, popularity, and amongst other things. I'm going to be honest here and say I hate DB with a passion, but I'll still judge it fairly. But it's still not as good as One Piece will ever be, ever.

Well, anyone but Yamcha. Yamcha ALWAYS loses.

The ironic thing is that someone from AP forums saw that picture and mentioned that Yamcha did beat someone.

But yeah, the DBZ characters could kill everyone easily.

Luffy: Gum Gum Pi-
Goku: Kamehame-ha!
BOOM
Yeah.
