I was wondering which is better evolving a pikachu to a raichu or having a pikachu with light ball which i think doubles the special attack of pikachu? Thanx for the response in advance..

Actuall, I'n not sure, but i think the light ball works on Raichu too. So once you get the appropriate moves for pika, evolve it and see if the light ball works.

EDIT: Also, overall Raichu has pretty decent-good stats, while pikachu has pretty bad-ok ones.

start off the pikachu as a pichu and evolve it so it knows volt tackle then evolve to a raichu with the light ball witch would be the best(IMO)

Raichu's base Special Attack: 90
Pikachu's base Special Attack WITH Light Ball: 100

Pikachu barely wins in special attack, and all of Raichu's other stats are MUCH better than Pikachu's, so I would go with Raichu.

I would say Raichu because ALL your stats raise, not just one.

You know what? Just boost up Pikachu's speed and Special Atk. then use light ball.

Still, there are many Pokemon faster than Pikachu, and with a base defence of 30 it's sure to die quickly.

Pikachu won't even take out everything with just one hit, and Pikachu relies on a 1-hit-ko.

i wud start with a pichu so it can learn volt tackle exactly like pokerusam said

Raichu has way better stats, and can have a more flexible moveset. Pikachu could have the light ball, but it'd have to have some other moves besides repetitive electric type moves.

Pikachu has a better Special Attack stat than Raichu with the Light Ball, but it's too slow for it to use that Special Attack without getting KO'd, even with all the EVs in Speed. Raichu has better stats and a better chance of surviving than Pikachu, so I'll say Raichu is better than Pikachu.

Don't double post, cameron mathena. I think evolving Pikachu into Raichu from a Thunder Stone is a good idea. Because you can buy TM(s) from the Lilycove Department Store and give him the TM and learn some attacks.

Guys, why are you recommending Volt Tackle + Light Ball Pikachu? If it pulls of a hit, it gets hit hard itself, and with those poor defenses, it dies easily...

Go with Raichu.

That's not true: it doesn't double it's base Special Attack, it just doubles his current Special Attack. So, having a fully EV-trained Modest Pikachu+Light Ball and a good IV in Special Attack means he will hurt pretty bad with Thunderbolt.

For example: Pikachu lvl 10 with a SA of 17. If he holds the Light Ball, his special attack will be 34. (Am I correct?)

Pikachu does have a better sp.atk than Rainchu when it's holding the light ball but raichu is better than Pikachu at everything else so i'll go with raichu.

Hmm...

Raichu with Max Special Attack: 306
Pikachu with Max Special Attack and Light Ball: 436

Meh, the stat difference is larger than I though. Still, Raichu is more likely to survive than Pikachu (look at the difference in defences).

I wouldn't recommend any of them though.
