Which old character could be the current Kanto Champion?

Even a lot of people say that DP Ash can beat Virgil ... but I don't think so, he is underrated tbf

If we classify the league winners except Ash, I think it would be like this (3 vs 3)

1. Alain (MCX + Tyranitar + Bisharp)
2. Tobias ( Darkrai + Latios + Magikarp)
3. Gladion
4. Virgil / Gladion without Z move
5. Harrison/Tyson
Since when is Gladion a league winner?

Hes also the top trainer in Alola though after beating Kukui, being the champion of a region
He also defeated Iris, the champion of Unova
And hes set to beat Leon, the world champion...
Beating Kukui isn’t anywhere near the same thing as beating the Elite 4 and the regional Champion. Beating Iris doesn’t mean much either until we learn how exactly she actually became Champion. But her skill level is nowhere near the level of Lance/Cynthia/Steven, etc.

What Ash has done is won a regional league and that’s it. He never competed in the Champion’s League. Having an exhibition match against a guy that’s just a Pokémon Professor (and professional wrestler) cannot be compared to that.

Doesn’t matter what he’s “set to do”. What hasn’t happened hasn’t happened. At that point, you’re just spouting hypotheticals, which makes your point moot. It’s also not certain that he’ll beat Leon. Remember when XY was airing and everyone thought Ash would beat Alain cause he was “set” to do that? Cause I sure do.

Love how you people downplay Ash's achievements and now downplay Iris too as not a proper champion even though we saw Alder and knew he was considered on the levels of Cynthia in some way, and its incredibly obvious Iris surpassed him. Continue doing that, cant wait to see how you all downplay the PWC when Ash defeats Leon. Also this and the Alain battle are different in many ways, the comparison makes zero sense

I think the most hilarious thing (even though it would make me sad, for different reasons*) would be if Ash literally leaves the anime, Yugi-style, only showing up in cameos moving forward as he is known as the best trainer in the world, while we follow a new trainer's journey in Gen IX region, and despite this, people still downplay the WCS. LOL. even though it was big enough to make him leave the anime

*different reason = Ash leaving

Kukui was already beyond any E4, he was also like in game Champion not just a professor, also Ash defeated Tapu Koko who was beyond champion opponent in both games and anime, Kukui+Tapu Koko is easily champion tier trainer and Ash beat them, Iris is also a champion who beat Alder the former champion.

Alan is completely different story, his character has nothing to do with Kalos league he just participated to battle Ash while Leon was Ash's main goal from the start of the JN series, Leon and Charizard is like Kukui and Tapu Koko in JN for Ash and Pikachu.

Kukui easily matches E4 members if not champions like cynthia, leon. The problem is whenever e4 beats regular trainer easily, the perception becomes that e4 member is god tier. They couldnt let Ash be the looser forever who looses to e4. As the series progress, the difference between ash and champions will diminsh or things will go back to square one

What would be extraoridnary in a battle b/w two champions compared to a battle b/w two normal trainers?

Exactly how do you know Steven and Lance are stronger than Iris? This is why power scaling doesn’t make any sense a good amount of the time because it’s bias as heck and half of time there is no facts to support the statement. How many battles have we seen Steven in let alone Lance baring that fight with Leon?

Edit: And another thing you have no idea how Lance, Cynthia or Steven became the champion especially when the latter wasn’t even the champion before XY but you don’t negate their skill level soooo huh?
