is that all the pokemon under the title 'hoenn dex' on the game, or is it only the ones such as rayquaza, and the ones only known to the hoenn region? i'm confused, because pokemon such as oddish, voltorb and magnemite are in the hoenn dex, do you have to catch them too? I WANT CYNDAQUIL! i already have 171 pokemon! w00t!

Yes, you have to catch all 200 Pokémon in the Hoenn Pokédex to get one of the Johto starter Pokémon from Professor Birch. That includes the Pokémon like Magnemite, Oddish, and Voltorb, who also appeared in previous versions of Pokémon games. Fortunately, you don't need Jirachi or Deoxys.

so...is it a good idea to do it from treecko to rayquaza, or wherever i see one? i hav a crobat to get next...

It doesn't matter what order you do it in, just whenever you see a Pokémon that you need, go get it, either via catching it/breeding for it/evolving it, etc...

Also, some friendly advice for you... double-posting is against the rules, if you have something to say in a post, and you have the last post in your topic, then go ahead and edit your last post. Not trying to be bossy or anything, but double-posting is frowned upon here and at many other forums.

I will edit a Hoenn Pokédex into this post if you want to use it as a checklist for what you need. Just remember that Jirachi and Deoxys are not necessary to get a Johto starter.

I'm confused, where is Professor Elm (Or did you mean Birch). I have Ruby btw if that makes any difference.

right now i'm waiting for a surskit outbreak while i get a crobat. i got an azurill by trading a sea incense over with a plusle. i needed both coz someone threw away my other 1
i should rly trade over a surskit, but with all the trainging my DRAGONITE, level 90 charizard and my lvl 70 SALAMENCE, my lvl 76 FLYGON etc. etc. i'd rather wait. my dragonite has Thunderbolt, Flamethrower, Icebeam and Return, with a 9...up and downy thing...hit rate, how much does it go up to until it cant get any happier with return? i measure it with how many times it...vibrates...what's the most...vibrating...it can do? coz my lvl 90 charizard...vibrates...9 times too.

I am pretty sure that the Pokémon "vibrates" 9 times at maximum happiness. The Base Power of Return is happiness divided by 2.5, (or multiplied by 0.4, whichever you prefer.) so at maximum happiness, a Pokémon will have a base power of 102 for Return. (That is not factoring in STAB on a Normal-type Pokémon using Return)

yeah...that's why i hate maths. well that's good, but does that actually mean that they are at FULL happiness, as in 255?

To be perfectly honest, I don't know the exact correlation between the Pokémon's animated "vibrations" and the base power of Return. (How many times the Pokémon vibrates compared to Return's Base power) However, my Pokémon that are at max happiness with 102 base power Return will do the vibrating thing 9 times.
