• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

Creating your own gym isn't as fun without an interesting puzzle, and there's only so much you can do with Secret Bases in terms of puzzles.

A lot of gyms don't even have puzzles: Pewter, Cerulean, Rustboro, Fuchsia, etc. So yeah, gyms don't always need puzzles to be good.

And by the way, you CAN make some cool ones in Super Secret Bases like teleportation tiles, invisible dolls, floor holes, turning the light off, etc. The more flags you collect, the better puzzle tricks. That's a lot more in comparison to what some real gyms offer, like the mentioned above.

Fuchsia's puzzle were the invisible walls in the original GB games if you didn't use a Game Boy Color and the Trainers disguised as Janine in GSC and HGSS. ORAS Dewford wasn't much of a puzzle as it was more memorization of where the obstacles were in the dark and even then it was pretty easy. Petalburg also needed no puzzles to be challenging as all you did was go through doors and battle Ace Trainers.

Exactly, there are many gyms that don't have any kind of puzzles at all, so puzzles aren't necessary to recreate a Gym.

Those aren't exactly memorable puzzles, no.

ORAS are great games considering I no longer own the originals. I enjoy finally owning Hoenn games again and I particularly like going to Southern Island in route 118. I had never been to Southern Island before and now I can. I even got the Eon Ticket to go back to it. ORAS, HGSS and FRLG all have pros and cons but they are all great games in the end.

Exactly, the 3 remakes have a few flaws like ALL Pokemon games, but they have way more pros than cons.

I love all the remakes. FireRed and LeafGreen made it possible to play again with a nice updated look and Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire made me a fan of Gen 3, which was originally the Gen i hated the most.

But HeartGold and SoulSilver were in my opinion not only the best remakes, but the best Pokemon GAMES period. Everything i love about Pokemon were in those games. The ability to go to two regions, having your pokemon follow you, and the ability to take your pokemon out of the game and carry it with you (i've used the pokewalker to help me lose weight by tracking steps. so far i've lost 64 lbs).

i loved HGSS and they remain my favorite games, with X and Y a close second.
