Totodile, I like Totodile the best because even though hes the weakest water starter, i still like him and it dosen't matter because i battle with pokemon I like, not what everyone else likes. But if you don't like Totodile choose Cyndaquil because hes quite well rounded i geuss i'd choose him if i didn't like Totodile.Chikorita's probaly the strongest but i got sick of him pretty quick, hes good and safe though with moves like razerleaf and sythisis. those are my opinions but i really think you should ignore the stats and choose one that seems right for you.

Cyndaquil. End of discussion. You can beat the game on the strength of him alone. And in competitive battles he can do a helluva lot more then the other two. Grass sux and there are so many better water types than Feraligatr... hes pretty bad actually.

Cyndaquil and it's evos are pretty strong, so you can easily crush opponents with decent moves, and fire pokemon are rare; But raising a Chikorita is a challange, that gives much satisfaction.
I just started Crystal and Chikorita was my choise.

Cyndaquil. It can learn Electric attacks. Your Rival chooses Totodile if you choose Cyndaquil, and:

Electric Attack = Destruction of Totodile/Croconaw/Feraligatr.

wich attacks can it learn??

Well Cyndquil is the best against the Gyms, and is the strogest, as well as being my personal preferance. Hoever you can catch Growlithe North of Violet City, who eventually becomes stronger. There are plenty of decent Wtaer~Types near the beginning like Wooper and Goldeen, not to mention Suicune, the star of the show! Also IMHO Feraligatr is ugly, so is pwned by the graceful and powerful Suicune. There are, oddly enough, no decent Water~Types near the beginning of the game however, and training Chikorita can pay off, besides it learning interesting moves, so perhaps Chikorita.
