Who deserves airtime more, Brock or Tracy?

Kamex

Team Rocket's rockin
Neither really ought to be around anymore IMO, but if you had to pick one, who would it be?

Aqua_Maiden

Queen of the Abyss
I think Brock. Tracy sucks all he does is sketch, and he's not that funny. Besides I'm used to Brock's voice anyway.

Tracy, all the way. I really liked that person. He just needs more airtime, honestly.

Tracy deserves more airtime only if they use it to fix his character.

I like Brock more but Tracy is the one who needs fixing. He was around for an entire season and we learned practically nothing except that he envies the man he ends up living with, thus becoming the only character in the main traveling group who actually accomplished his far fetched dreams (in record time, even). Now if that doesn't sound like a setup for adventures that can't possibly be explained in an anime for this target age group I don't know what would.

Point is we know practically nothing about Tracy ... except he likes to draw animals and clothed women of all things.

CyberCubed

Yeah, ok!
Neither. :p

Brock's worn out his welcome and Tracey, while not a bad character, just wasn't very interesting from the getgo. I also can't see how anyone could say Brock needs "more" airtime, he's been in every saga except one.

I'm hoping the 5th gen will finally give us a new sidekick character. Give Brock his happy ending, have Holly come back or something, and wrap his character up.

absoluteSoul

Yeah, 421 combos!
Well, I do like Brock more than Tracy and I don't think this guy needs anymore screentime unless he's part of something important. But...

This sounds good to me.

Frontier Brain B

I'm that good.
Leave Brock at Pewter, put misty or someone new back, and add the 5th gen male choice to Ash's team. The writers are sexist. :'<

CyberCubed

Yeah, ok!

Nah, Misty ran her course. Considering she'd be less important than the 5th gen female co-star, she'd essentially be like she was in Johto, useless and without much to do.

This show needs NEW characters. I understand keeping Ash and Team Rocket, but all of the travel companions should be wiped clean every few sagas.

The writers have done a fairly good job bringing in a new female character every 4-5 years, why can't they do the same for the sidekick?

I don't honestly see why people want to see Misty back. I personally find her incredibly dull. Her Pokemon aren't very interesting either, a Water Pokemon Trainer sounds like a good idea, but unlike other unique types Water Pokemon are pretty much all the same attack wise. Having a WHOLE TEAM of them is just... boring.

Even Kanto Misty wasn't *that* amazing. As a 12 year old watching the show, seeing quite nice (!) *** and swimsuit moments was awesome. I was like, bloody hell, this stuff is awesome. Action and girls! There's only so much you can do with a 'firey red head' character, who is never coming back. Ever.

Tracey should join the group again for like, I dunno, 3 episodes like Todd used to. On some research mission for Oak or something. Give him some time and backstory, but not enough so he takes up a slot for a new, fresh character.

I do <3 Tracey though. He was awesome, a lot more reserved than Brock, but still has an eye for the girls. Quite rude as well, just barged his way into the group. Now THAT is ace.

Marik Ishtar's Raykazuka

Sky Dragon Blast!
If brock kept his steelix I'd say him but he didn't so Tracy because he has Syther.

CyberCubed

Yeah, ok!
Ah yes, Steelix and Scyther (who could become a Scizor). The last thing this anime needs is MORE Steelix or Scizor.

Brock actually has a good team in D/P. They're all good Pokemon. Sudowoodo is amusing and Happiny is a baby Pokemon done right, while Croagunk is just awesome.

His Pokemon this gen is the only reason I'm not complaining about Brock as much as last gen.

Frontier Brain B

I'm that good.
I'd like to see Misty back because she's more interesting in her Chronicle episodes, and well, I think the writers should be able to do something like that with her in the actual show. But I'm not adamant about it. I'd be perfectly fine with a brand new character to represent the "Misty/Brock/Tracey/Max" of 5th gen. Who knows, they could surprise us by making one of the new Gym Leaders as a sidekick, though it's unlikely.

Thinking about it, leaving Brock behind for Sinnoh and making Roark leave the Oreburgh Gym and travel with Ash would've been great for the episodes at Canalave.

Ironically, we do need to see more of Scizor's trainer, assuming that old guy evolved already.

Tracey by default. I don't see how Brock has "little" screen time, when he's been in 3 sagas already. Give Tracey something, Orre, 5thGenland, hell have him be Dawn's brother. He just seems like some bum that Ash gave a ride to and dropped off at Oak's and never leaves or has anything interesting to say. Or at least give him Misty to "screw" around with to keep things interesting.

CyberCubed

Yeah, ok!
Let's face it, if the character isn't Ash or a girl with a form of fanservice (chest or short skirt), the writers aren't going to do much with your character.

Misty, Brock, Max and Tracey are sidekicks, not the stars. The writers are just not ever going to focus on them as much as they did on Ash, Dawn or May.

So unless you're going for Gyms or you're a coordinator doing Contests, the other characters aren't going to be focused on that much.

Wicked Witch

Tracy: O-hai. I see you know Professor Oaks. I'm going to go see him!

Ash: ... but -

Tracy: I'm going to go see him. *pushes aside*

Thinking about it, leaving Brock behind for Sinnoh and making Roark leave the Oreburgh Gym and travel with Ash would've been great for the episodes at Canalave.

Roark's a pretty cool guy; he has every reason to hate Riley. He'll be everyone's hero!

Ironically, we do need to see more of Scizor's trainer, assuming that old guy evolved already.

Ten bucks says its dead.

While I'd love to see Tracey get some air time, I dought it will happen, the writers seem to be fixed on Brock as Ash main man.

Tracey all the way! I like his personality and style. I don't know why people find him boring. He doesn't fall in love with every girl and is shy, but it doesn't make him boring at all. Tracey is a mature, talented artist and pokemon theme is his passion.

I have been seen Brock for many years now and I feel tired of his jokes, falling in love and all. I don't hate him because he isn't as immature as he was before - but I would like to see someone who is calmer - yeah, Tracey is a good choise.

I don´t have a problem with Brock in DP. I love his punching-bag antics and the
miltank
episode was a great example of a Brock episode done right.

Yes, he doesn´t do much, but those he need to? He has his little moments in DP, an awesome team and a routine that ridiculous repetitive and yet, funny to me after all those years.

I like Tracey as well. Everbody should love a guy with the dub-voice of Fry from Futurama ( German version :p ) and I liked him much more in the Hosou specials than in the regular anime, but..well...keep him in the specials, mkay?

Talking about those...we need those specials again...

Alfonso´s idea about a 3-episode mini-arc including Tracey is great as well.

My answer to the question who deserves more airtime, without weaseling out of this...mhh...Brock needs more episodes were he can shine, while Tracey needs more episodes which INCLUDE him at all.

Well defiantly Tracy, the poor guy was only around for the Orange Islands while coincidently Brock was at Professor Ivy's which was the only time Brock was out of the series and plus it was the shortest season to boot.

I thought Tracy was a good character and the Orange Islands still remains one of my favourite seasons but that's mainly owing to the fact that it was so outlandish and original having very little or anything at all to do with the games. And Ash's battle against Drake is still probably the best battle in the series so far IMO.

DO YOU PEOPLE ENJOY KICKING ME IN THE HEAD?!

For the love of Buddha, Tracey deserves WAY more airtime than Brock. Now, I'm not counting out Brock. When traveling with Ash and Dawn, he doesn't really get that much action (except for the comic relief with Brock --> Pretty girl --> Croagunk). It would be nice to see something besides the usual routine.

Now Tracey. My poor, sweet baby Tracey. He needs all of the airtime he can get. I mean they shafted him because "everybody hated Tracey during the Orange Islands." *spits on all of the Tracey haters*

On top of which, Tracey is like the only main character who we really don't know that much about. I mean, everyone else has like mothers, brothers, fathers, sisters being seen and heard of. Tracey has none of that and that is such bull crap. Plus he's got three pokemon that have not evolved since...ugh...by U.S. time since 2000. Give him an episode where one of them evolves.

Well I think you all had enough of my ramblings. I'll leave now.
