I'm gonna get Heart Gold because Pokemon Gold was my very first video game. I'll be starting with Cyndaquil because I started with it in Gold as well. I want to do my best, enjoy the differences, and get new pokemon. I wonder how Sinnoh Pokemon or Hoenn Pokemon will become parts of the game... the Sevii islands wasn't the best way to introduce new pokemon, IMO. I hope they do better in this game.

My starter will most likely be Chikorita. My favorite Johto starter out the three.

Cyndaquil, since I love fire types. Totodile is pretty cool too though. Never really picked Chikorita.

Most likely either Totodile or Cyndaquil, since Chikorita's tough to use during the first 2 gyms...

Especially in the 2nd gym, like if the Scyther has a Technician ability, then it's Fury Cutter will do slightly more damage during the initial attack than it was before (since there's no ability yet way long ago). Quick attack too, will hurt also, if it has Technician.

BTW, Whitney's Miltank might have Thick Fat, so Cyndaquil users might struggle a bit (unless you use Curse from Gastly/Haunter/Gengar beforehand...like I did before).

I think I recall before that you can actually buy the elemental punches for 3500 units...in which I always let the Totodile line learn Ice Punch...to cover Grass types.

Ah... nostalgia with starter nicknames... I remember when back then I used to nickname cyndaquil.. "Typhy" and everytime that name appeared it brought joy to me...

It's tough for me but I'll most likely go with Cyndaquil. Typhlosion is the one I like the best out of the three and I like to start with fire types.
