Why Bash Digimon?

The only thing i see in common with Pokemon and Digimon is that the "Mon" (Digi-mon, Poke-mon) means monster. Yeah Pokemon got alot more popular than Digimon and the pokemon anime came first than the Digimon one. But just cause digimon came after pokemon doesnt mean that digimon is coping them.

I dont realy watch the Digimon or the Pokemon anime show anymore, but what i remember from both the animes was that they were completely different. Digimon's story line is alot different than Pokemons, digimons animation is completely different from pokemons (alot better in my opinion)

Bottom line my point is that Digimon and Pokemon are completely different.(other than the fact that both shows deal with monsters)

Haha, I agree, I don't like Digimon, I don't bash it, I don't think people should bash it, it's pure coincidence that they end in -mon. I used to think they stole it, but now I know that they didn't.

P.S.: I have to say this, Pokemon is better than Digimon ^-^

But they started as two difference merchanidises, IIRC.

Monster Rancher came out in 1997 according to Wikipedia, and Pokmeon came out in 1995 according to Wikipedia.

Yeah. I rmemeber I had a digimon shirt when i wa sin 3rd grade and all my friends said "you traitor". I wa slike traitor? How can someone be a traitor to a tv show? I still think pokemon is cool. Then they said "digimon copied pokemon"

Actually, your wrong. Bandai starter to work on Digimon in 1995, while Pokemon was in development before 1995. IIRC GameFreak began Pokemon right after the GameBoy's launch in 1990. The reason of its long release time is due to the amount of tinkering with the link cable to get it just right.

well they do have the mon and it does have to do with creatures though pokemon don't exactly talk except for meowth and the a few of the legendaries telepathically (like Mewtwo, Lugia, Jirachi, and Entei) while digimon do.
You can only have one digimon while you can have up to six pokemon at a time. Digimon don't really I say battle each other in a friendly way but to save the world while Pokemon are used for many things. Pokemon and Digimon evolve too but differently however so I would say they are somewhat similar.
People also bash it for uncreative names ending in mon I mean their might as well be Ketchupmon or something as some say.

Must I point out that Digimon started as a VIRTUAL PET and not an anime first? :| That's all that's really needed to be said. Digimon is a virtual pet system that could battle other raised Digimon pets. Pokemon is a full-fledged RPG. Huge difference.

Hello. I happened to chance upon this thread wile randomly clicking on a thread. Now if you'll take a look... *points to siggy*

Never mind the formalities. I really don't see why is it that Digimon and Pokemon can coexist peacefully. After all, Digimon and Pokemo have the same surnames, so to speak. It is very prejudiced for pokemon lovers to bash digimon, and vice versa. Either these people havent atched either anime or played either game, they don't deserve the right to bash either side.

Both -mons have their pros and cons. Pokemon is targetted at a younger audience (VERY slightly younger) with little animated violence and arms. Digimon is targetted at an older audience with digimon spraying sharp needles and guns blasting bullets everywhere, whereas pokemon in America had to cut out even a single clip bearing guns.

So you see, there is no point bashing either side. Not because nobody has the right to do so, but because nobody even knows. Maybe except for the enlightened few... *points to siggy again*

The Big Three in monster raising genre: Pokemon, Digimon, and Monster Rancher. They're all awesome, they all have something different to bring to the table, and they're all more than worth playing.

People just need to shut up and have fun.

Yes, that's was one of the main reasons. They had others like how they both have evolution, how Pikachuu is like a digimon and bunch of other excuses that didn't make since.

Aahhhhh, Im so glad that Monster Rancher was given crdit here. Personally, Monster Rancher is my favorite of them, because of the freedom given to do what you want when you want. Pokemon is still good, and so is digimon, but digimon is my least favorite. I had a shirt too, but I wasnt targeted for it..

They're both good in their own way.
I prefer the first 2 seasons of the Digimon anime to any 2 seasons of the pokemon anime. Though, I wont touch the digimon games, and play the pokemon ones alot.

I could go on and on. It really comes down to, I like both, but digimon jumped the shark in season and sort of died. Pokemon has lasted. Though, I would never give up one for the other, I like both.
