Why can't Nintendo spend more time on other games? (A slight rant)

Twilight Princess keeps getting delayed, so they're definitely taking their time. Yet they shell out one Mario Party game a year, and they end up decent, but not nearly as good as they could be.

Why only Zelda? I know that they're aware of the high expectations it has, but maybe the other games would actually sell if they even spend half the time on them that they did on Zelda (which is still more time than they do spend).

I want another good Mario Party. 2 was awesome, and we don't have one that can even compare to it on Gamecube. They really don't want to botch up Zelda, but why not spend extra time to fix series like Mario Party, which they already botched up?

I'm so freaking sick of mediocre games that pour in once a year. You know, the games that the developers don't even try on. They just modify a working formula. We've got 4 Mario Partys on the Cube, but I'd rather have one good one than 4 mediocre ones.

Quality > Quantity

I fully agree with you. On the subject, I remember not playing any Mario Party since MP2 although loving it to death, and I rented MP6 to relive it. I was lucky I rented it before I bought it to be honest. :/

I'm going to love Mario Kart no matter what happens to it though. :3

Well Nintendo doesnt make the mario parties. Hudson soft makes it so its not Nintendos fault. Also Nintendo has spent more quality than just zelda. Look at MPH delayed 3 times overall a delay period of a year and a couple of months but it came out spectacular. Mario 128 has been delayed/postponed over 5 years. There have been many other titles from Nintendo delayed for improvement. I believe MKDS was actually planned to come out earlier than it did because they changed plans in March and decided to have MKDS wifi compatible as well last year. Its just that Zelda games are always delayed a few of them were actually because of manufacturing issues not actual game development.

Probably costs more money and time to produce 4 crappy Mario Parties than just making one brilliant.

I agree. Twilight Princess has been delayed for too long. Surely Nintendo would've worked out how to make a game super good but not take several years to make by now.

I agree with you too. I've played every Mario Party game and they get SO boring. And my mum's going crazy about Twilight Princess being delayed so many times.

^Just to ask for clerifacation, but doesn't Nintendo own/have a partership with those small companies?

Also MPH was not made by Retro Studies, they just helped in the beginning

And want series are made directly from Nintendo

Also note that Nintendo has pretty muched stopped working on their own franchises' main games save for Mario, Zelda, and StarFox.
No, not even. Star Fox Assault and Star Fox Adventures were both made by Namco.

So? A good game would sell more, therefore making more profit. An awesome game, although being expensive and time-consuming to make, would fly off the shelves.

The sad thing is is that Mario Party 6 is the best one this generation... either that or Mario Party 4.

Nintendo should know how to make a good game regardless of how long they've been spending on Zelda. They've been making games at least 8 years more than the next longest lasting competition, Sony. They make a lot of triple A games, but they don't seem to try on some of their other stuff.

Hudson Soft, Intelligent, Creatures Inc., HAL... does it matter? They're all subcompanies owned by Nintendo. They should be watching them closely enough to make sure that all of their games are good.

Luckily, they have HAL, Camelot, Gamefreak, and Intelligent... all great developers.

I think Nintendo still do Metroid. Zero Mission or Fusion anyone? Capcom also do some Zelda games though like the ones pertaining the Four Swords. Aren't thay making New Super Mario bros and that's coming out in what...May? Also...Donkey Kong games used to be made by Rare...they're now made by Namco for the Bongo ones....and those aren't their only franchises people.

Sure, they still do those games but it's really nothing new... Zero Mission didn't even compare to fusion, just because Fusion was new, and Zero Mission was a patched up and prettier version of the original.

I don't think they actually own Camelot. They just had a close relationship

You will be missed:(
It takes years to make a game, and like Miyamoto said "A delayed game is one that will be great one day, but a bad game is bad forever"

When it comes to MP rehashes, they know taht people are going to buy them regardless. It's like EA's Madden franchise, they know that football fans wil buy the game whether they put something groundbreaking in or not.

I think Nintendo is too damn busy working on the DS, since it seems to be the spotlight of Nintendo right now, not to mention, but I think they are busy working on the Revolution too. Also, there is a new Mario game coming out, and Mother 3/Earthbound 2 is coming out for GBA in April. Remember the N64 game drought? When OoT was released, the N64 and Zelda sold like hotcakes.

Just my idea...
