Why did Brock's Geodude.....

Never evolve? Did I miss something? He had it for quite a long while and used it somewhat often but it always stayed a Geodude....does anyone have an explanation for this because I have no earthly idea.

honestly? it was never really given any screentime to begin with...

also, since Brock has one in the games, it would confuse the dumb children who think that Brock's game pokemon would become a graveler as well.

must be a marketing decison...

Geodude never evolved for the same reasons Psyduck never evolved and Pikachu never evolved...They were their respective characters favorite Pokemon and symbol.

BTW: Geodude was used quite often and other than the Lotad family and Bonsly, it was Brock most seen and most used, even more than his Onix...

However much Geodude was used back when Brock actually mattered, I certainly always saw Onix as his "signature" Pokémon.

LOL - yeah, it became addicted to crystal meth, XD

I don't know why it didn't evolve - it was the Writer's decision I guess.

That was my belief as well. I mean, I could understand Geodude not evolving if it was meant to be his main Pokemon but Onix just seemed more appropriate for his #1.

CyberCubed

Yeah, ok!
I don't see why this is a surprise. Before AG, the writers shyed away from evolution for some reason.

However since AG started we've gotten quite a lot of evolutions. Geodude might have evolved if Brock took it to Hoenn with him, who knows.

We'll never know why Geodude never evolved, just like many other of the Pokemon in the anime, they simply just didn't. But who knows, maybe while Jiroo has been taking care of it it evolved somehow.

OFF TOPIC: I think Brock should have brought his Crobat with him to Hoenn, not his Forretress.

Seeing as Crobat is, as far as we know, the first Pokémon he caught (I'm guessing Onix and Geodude were from the Gym), that would've made some sense. Plus, what is a Crobat going to do to help Jiroo prepare to be a Rock Gym Leader?

CyberCubed

Yeah, ok!
On the other hand, what would Crobat do for Brock in Hoenn anyway? Rot away in its ball just like Foretress has, who the writers won't even let us know whether its still alive or not?

There have been some Gym leaders owning a Pokemon not of their type, (Whitney had a Nidorina for example, Blaine had a Rhydon), so it's nothing out of the ordinary.

Some kid going to the Pewter Gym with a team full of Water pokemon would probably expect to wipe the floor with Jiroo's team easily, but with a Crobat there as an ace in the hole, it's a pretty good counter.

Ishitsubute is pretty much the signature Pokémon for Takeshi. Same as why Pikachu never evolved or why Kasumi's second Hitodeman was never evolved.

Not to mention, all it was ever really used for was slamming into things at most or helping with a daily task.

actually, in both the games, anime, and manga, Iwark seems to be Takeshi's signature Pokemon. When you fight Takeshi in GSC, I think his Ishitsubute actually evolved into a Goron. Why it couldn't have evolved in Jouto, which was in desperate need of anything interesting happening, is beyond me.

This is because that Takeshi is clearly different from the one from the anime. :p The one in the games is simply a Gym Leader. He's not girl crazy, nor does he wish to be a Breeder. Plus the Takeshi in GSC is older. Same reason we don't see Kasumi prancing around in a bathing suit, chasing around guys around Hanada City. XD

but Onix was still used alot more then Geodude in the anime as well, so your reason doesn't exactly hold up fully :\

I guess the only character development geodude went through was during the larvitar arc, it was the first pokemon aside from pikachu larvitar opened up to...

Maybe Brock just doesn't use Geodude often, or he doesn't it train it much. I notice that he uses Onix more often than Geodude. I didn't really see Geodude often.

And? My primary point was that it was still a hardly used Pokémon and would usually just smash into things during battles or carry out simple tasks.

Umm wasn't it revealed in "Having a Wailord of a time" that Onix was Brock's first pokemon? Well I think that even if Geodude had evolved it would have rotted in the ball just like all of the other Brock pokemon. (Poor Forry, why didnt it carry on its exploding pineco gag. It would have made it at least have a personality)
