This probably has already been discussed, but is there a particular reason why they decided to drain Ash of any personality? In the original series he acted like a normal kid who laughed, teased, got frustrated, and was cocky at times.
But from Hoenn onward he seems to be limited to two emotions:
1. "Happy" Ash--Yes! We're going to X city to get a X badge!
2. "Angry" Ash--Team Rocket! You guys never learn...
Same thing with Team Rocket. They started out as "normal"people, were turned into annoying clowns that rhymed everything, and then suddenly in Unova they became robots. Literally, there was no difference between how they or a robot would have behaved.
May and Dawn had so little personality compared to Misty that they were almost indistinguishable. Maybe I'm in the minority but I literally could not tell the difference.
