Misty was shown to be an almost unbeatable gym leader! Even if she had jello hair...Maybe the writers thought that girls are more fit to be in the kitchen or sit on a chair making bubbles or sell fruits in the market

Omgg what an achievementThe Alola girls are fierce battlers since they made it to the top 16 in the Alola League.
And where is the “after” pic of this young lady?
She at least had an above average interesting startChloe deserved more
When being feminine is the only part of your personality the characters in question becomes very onedimensional and very boring to watch outside of a more goal oriented story. And honestly there's absolutely nothing wrong with her being more feminine and girly than most. Why is femininity a bad thing now?
In such a case then then the issue is clearly something else, not because because femininity automatically bad and boring. When being feminine is the only part of your personality the characters in question becomes very onedimensional and very boring to watch outside of a more goal oriented story.
Having a much more passive temperament doesn't help either.
We don't even need to look way too far. Misty in the last episode with his personality give many people way more fun to watch interactions between a pokegirl and Ash, with Ash also having a type of interactions that he lacked for years.
It really feels like Kishimoto secretly took over since BW endedBecause they somehow started to think that Ash was meant to be for boys but he wouldn't connect to girls because of his gender and shonen traits, so they decided to make OC girls fall into that, giving birth to girl-only competitions and Eevee being relegated to girls and fabulous-looking boys (Ilima, for some reason).
All things considered, we were lucky they left the official female fighters as they were without putting them into girly stuff (ignoring the fact they didn't exactly end on high notes, Cynthia included).
