Why is Strenth looked down upon?

Xtra

You will be missed:(
Yes, is an HM, but so is Surf. And Surf is one of the best water moves in the game. And because it's an HM, you can reuse it. Strenth is normal (Meaning it can hit almost any pokemon), 80 power (which is good), and 100% accuracy (always a good thing).

So I don't understand why people seem to hate it so much

Return is much better, but Strength is only good until you get Return

I use strength on my Snorlax sometimes. There are just so many other moves I'd rather use though. It's hard to explain.

Why use strength? I use Hyper Beam when I want a high powered normal move.
*awaits posts by people saying I am stupid for using a move that makes you skip your next turn*

Go ahead. I'm waiting.

I use Strength, but only on my Normal types. Dunno why, it's just something I do. I like it, but like Black Widow said, there are better moves to choose from.

You're stupid for using a move that makes you skip your next turn.
Alright, I'm kidding. XB

Anyways, I only use Strength if my Pokemon hasn't come up to the maximum happiness level. When it does, it's Return time. -grin-

Please read the peoples answers.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... they all say something about better moves right? Well mostly people just want perfection with pokemon in the game which I think is silly. It's all about having the best and blah blah blah

Also Body Slam is better than Strength in every possible way:

It can paralyze.
It has more base power.
It can be deleted without the use of a move deleter.

Plus it has the same amount of PP, so you're not losing anything by using it. Max happiness Return ftw though.

Hyper Beam does not work well. Not even on a Slaking, because your oppenent will send in a FPer and you're screwed.

Anyways, Strength has better moves.

Surf is the top of the water tier attack list (Hydro Pump sucks due to lack of accuracy), while Strength isn't. Surf is the only useable HM.

I am the game
Return is much better my slaking has it and it does more damage then strength can ever do.

It's simple. Strength obviously has the power but is overlooked because that's all it does. Attack, no effect. People would rather go for Body Slam for the paralysis effect, Crush Claw for that sexy effect of draining defence with a 50% chance, Slash for the high critical ratio... or Return. Sure Return doesn't have an effect either, but it has 102 base power when happiness is at maximum. No contest there.

What else can you do? Purposely fail at the first gym?

Return is 102 without max happiness, so it's still better.

Return is 102 WITH happiness maxed it doesnt have a base power.

Maybe people overlook strength just because its so boring?

It does the same thing everytime, no added effects and you will never get a super effective hit with it (normal type). So yeah i would just use return, body slam, shadow ball or hidden power (if its the right type).

What i never understand is why some pokemon learn SLAM when it is exactly the same as strength but less acuraccy. ;123;

Ok, I'm done. I think the reason that strength is scarce is because normal types aren't used very often, (save Snorlax, Linoone, and Aipom) and many people like to reap the benefits of STAB.

Return has the power of 60 but i'm not sure how much bonuses it gets from if your pokemon loves you to bits. Strengths power is 80, so is moves like body slam which have added effects. I'm guessing it's because it has no added effects.
Edit: (lol) everything I hads said had been said before. xD
