I'm sorry, but i'm not trying to sound negative, but what happened to the oh-so-popular video game. Did Yu-Gi-Oh take over? I know many of the people on the web site, but there is a reason why I stopped playing Pokemon the card game became less popular?

Well some people get too old. They try to be mature. I don't really. Pokemon makes me feel like a kid again. I love the experience. It challenges me and I don't think I'll stop. The card game is getting too lame however.......I have a ton of rare Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon Cards(more than 500 each). I don't want to sell them but I don't even touch them at all anyway.

yea, i miss the memories of spending hours making the best deck, and being able to beat all the kids that were 2 years older than me! (10)...its sad that i'll probably ever have as much fun with pokemon, because the "pokecraze" is over and now its a little kids game

That is the most untrue thing you could possible say about the TCG.

There were nearly 446 players at Worlds 2005, and 165 of them were in the 15+ age group (more than were in the 11-14 and 10-). A huge number of older teens and adults take the game very seriously.

i'm sorry, that reallly came out wrong...i meant the pokecraze is over because so many think its a little kids game...i love the game, its a great game...i think anyone can play it...sometimes the anime is repetitive but this isn't the thread to get into that...

I just feel that if i get the card game, i will have nobody to play with except league players once a week...and i probably wouldn't be able to go every week...and i meant that the pokecraze (even though many people play it) is over with the people that i'm friends with, and i don't know who would play the game in my area that is my age

I gave up on the TCG(although, I am trying to make a comeback..) after Wizards lost control. But Most, I believe quit because the pokecraze slowed to a halt after the Neo series.

Yes, and I am one of those people. Currently 16, and still playing the TCGs. I have known other people much older than me who are in the TCG League also.

._. And people never stopped playing, sure your friends might have, but there are still some people out there who want to bring back the TCG experience...

My little cousin and some of my friends went to the 2005 Worlds. They said it was totally packed.

I, personally, don't want to say I've totally quit the game, but it's just so expensive to keep up with. Most of my money use to be spent on the TCG, but now it's just too much with all the anime I buy. And it isn't as fun as it use to be, around where I live anyways. Everyone finds one powerful card and everyone makes a deck that's focused on that card. Before, everyone use to find the cards they like the best and use those. It's just not the same as it use to be. Though, it is pretty fun when you have banned cards fight the current cards. =D

Yep, so true. It almost took my one week allowance just to buy booster packs and such... x_X;;;

And I noticed that in the TCG League I'm in, most of the decks they have have the same strategy of some sort... they don't make up decks based on their favorite Pokemon very much... ._.

Thats what happened to me, not only does no one who lives near me not play the game, but the leagues are about 20Miles away, and i probably couldn't get there every weekend that i'd like too, but i loved the game, and i'd still play it if i had neighbors and a closer league

Probably because you didn't pay as much attention to the game when yu actually played it. Finding a good card and everyone making a deck out of it is how the game has been since it was created. Theres just as many people who use cards they like, too. ...But if you like using bad cards, your going to lose. >_>;

I would be if there was anyone to play WITH.

but that crops up an idea...

Why not make a TCG game for the DS with WiFi?

Not a brilliant idea but oh well.

Considering even the smallest set has a minimum of 90 cards, it's difficult to get the cards you want, and doubly so to get multiples of them. This was corrected in the past by trading, but since a lot of people did fall out, even those who would still be dedicated have nobody to trade with, and nobody to battle with... if you're not in a larger city, you need to have lots of money and the ability to travel.

Not many people would do that or even be allowed to do that over some Pokémon cards, --my situation. So I just defected to the casual collector who buys 5 or 6 packs and calls it a day until the next set comes.

ya, and it disappoints me that we can't make search threads to find friends that live in our area to play with, which is what makes it hard to find friends, because it'd be embarassing to go up to someone and say, do you play pokemon? because if they don't they'll pprobably make some stupid remark...such a great game though....

I stopped playing due to the fact that my local League closed down. They said that it would only be closed for the holidays, but I came back early Saturday morning to find...nothing. They had ended the League due to Yu-Gi-Oh!... Which cheeses me off.

So I stopped playing because there was no one around to challenge me. My brother lost interest, I drifted more towards the animé and my fanfics.

But I'm slowly making a come-back.

I still collect the cards, but not as much as I used to. I stopped playing because after the EX series came out, they added all the rules and I couldn't keep up, plus no one else around me played.

it makes me mad though, we can't search for friends that live near us, i tried and it didn't work, i could maybe find someone close and play w/ them, but i guess that could be dangerous, but i seriously doubt it

IMO, Pokemon is losing popularity in general because the true Pokemon fans have gotten old and were fans in the past because Pokemon was new and different. Now it is ten years old and fans like me are in their mid teens and have lost interest. I still play and collect, but many of my friends stopped. Recently, kids have brought the old Pokemon games-R/B/Y/G/S/C to school because a senior brought it in. However, I am one of a few kids to own the newer FR/LG/E games. The trading card game has always had a slightly lesser popularity range because it may be fun, however, it isn't the best of games. Yu-Gi-Oh! becamse popular because it is a very unique card game and has many ways to better a player because of all of the dofferent strategies. Both has lost some popularity because they are getting old and has grown too big. Yu-Gi-Oh! must has almost 20 booster pack sets and Pokemon has a lot more.
