Nintendo DS. Get the Wii for Christmas if not earlier, so in reality you end up with both since the Wii can play GCN games.

Though choice...

DS: Has Wi-Fi and good games, and can play GBA games. But, can only be so powerful...

GCN: Great system with better games, but pratically no online play.

I would say get the DS, and then start saving up for a Wii, which can play GCN games.

Go with the DS. Its portable and it can go online. The gamecube is fun but the DS is good for all around play just not home play. Plus you can get diamond and pearl once they come out.

I think you should just wait until the Nintendo Wii comes out. But, if you want a Nintendo system right away or don't have enough money to buy a Wii, you should just get a DS. That way, you can get newer Nintendo games and play Wi-Fi with your friends over the internet. =D

I hope you people saying to skip the GCN because the Wii can play those games realize that once the Cube is phased out, Nintendo will NO LONGER sell Cube games. So if you miss the oppertunity to buy them, don't complain about not being able to play any games later on when you had your chance.

Just because the Wii is backwards compatible does NOT mean Nintendo will continue to sell GCN games. Just like how support stopped for the PSX and the games were no longer in print, even when the PlayStation 2 could play PSX games.

Nintendo will probably continue to sell GCN games until the transition between generations is complete, so the opportunity to use that feature is still available for Moonlight Umbreon.

Yeah but I always see plenty of GC games at all of the stores for sale - so I doubt they would be taken off the shelves. Just make sure you get all of the good GC games now cuzz those are the ones that will dissapear quickly.

Better then you
Tough choice I would say go for the DS. But the GCN has some of the best games out right now. But whatever floats your boat I guess.

You do realize a ton of stores such as Best Buy and Circuit City are currently trying to get rid of GameCube merchandise, right? That's why they're having so many clearances on PS2, Xbox, GCN and GBA games. They're trying to cut down on stock to make room for next gen games.

Personally, I'd go for GameCube. It's cheaper (and some Targets have a sale currently selling it for $80) and doesn't have much longer to last. Especially with game racks for the Cube dwindling down.

Neither, wait for a Wii.

DS then a Wii.

Despite what the almight (<-- not sarcastic, BTW) Edward Elric said you'll still be able to buy Gamecube games for the Wii on the internet and second-hand and such.

It's pretty much all up to you on which system you want.

The GC is perfect for sitting at home when you're bored, or playing with your friends at parties. The Wii is coming out pretty soon, however, so I'd wait for that if I were you.

The GBA and DS are perfect for road trips, or if you can'r afford a GC. The DS playes both DS and GBA games, so I'd get the DS.

The only thing I'd get now if I were you to save money is to get the DS. Then, save money for the Wii, and you're set for Nintendo life, man!

So. It doesn't matter what retailers decide to do with their merchandise. Nintendo doesn't want to force everyone to buy a Wii to play new games just yet. There are still a ton of GCN games still in develpoment that likely will be the last of the GCN games, but as I said before, Nintendo is going in to a transition period from GCN to Wii. Why else would there be so many games available for both the Wii and GCN such as Twilight Princess?

There are still online stores. Retailer stores are not everything. Then there are used games, which will pile up once the Wii comes out.

Not a single Nintendo game on that list. Japan doesn't even HAVE any games that are being released soon. Mostly what's being released now and those that are in development are 3rd party titles.

This is going to be the same deal as what we saw when the GBA was released. Game Boy Color and Game Boy games were backwards compatible with the GBA. What happened? They were phased out when 3rd party developers stopped making games for the others. The same will happen here. Nintendo's only GameCube titles they have intentions of releasing are Super Paper Mario and Twilight Princess. Nothing else is scheduled.

As someone who's been around when tons of systems were phased out, I can honestly say I know what I'm talking about. When the Dreamcast was released and Saturn was phased out, did stores keep the Saturn games in while Dreamcast was still there? No. When PlayStation was finally put to rest, did retailers continue to sell the games? No. What about Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Game Boy Color? Did either of those stick around when newer guys showed up? No.

Stores will do whatever they can to clear out inventory. Otherwise, it's gonna sit there and they won't have room for the new stuff. Why else do you think GBA and GCN racks have gotten smaller?

And in case you didn't notice, not everything goes the way Nintendo wants. They wanted the GBA and DS to go along side eachother. What happened? DS eventually overshadowed the GBA and everyone, including developers jumped ship for the DS.

Btw, folks. Online retailers aren't very reliable either. Many of them carry the games no one wanted. They also tend to carry used titles, as well as overpricing certain titles just because they're no longer in print.

You find me an online retailer that'll sell me the Dreamcast games I want, unused and at an affordable price, and I'll show you a store that has every GameCube game in stock.
