Wifi Possibilities?

I have thought a lot about Wifi and there are a number of intriguing possibilities, I just wondered what others think and would like to see.

For instance, you could obviously trade online. That could make it a lot easier to get pokemon from version you don't have, although it's a little dangerous trading with someone you don't know.

As far as battling, the possibilities are endless, from normal battles to league tables, server leagues, tournaments, you could even have the whole game mentioning a 'worldwide tournament' just like in the TV series, which would be the Wrestlemania of pokemon, a tournament that occurs once a year to crown the ultimate Pokemon master.

dangerous, how. the only danger i see is getting a sharked(aquired through cheating) or completly useless pokemon.
that tourney would be hard to put together because there would be so many people entering.

A chat system where you can type in messages like in the union room would be great. Battling Mode that Prevents ALL legendaries would be great. Trading would be good ESPECIALLY if you had a trusty friend that could transfer pokemon for you if you were starting a new game. Sounds great to me.

Dangerous because you could, say, trade a Haunter you've trained up so that it will evolve, but the person you are trading to decides they like gengar and keep him.

So dangerous because if you dont know the person, they arent always trustworthy.

Nooo! I'm too young!
you shouldn't ever trade and expect it back from someone u don't know. Only regular trading and you'll stay safe, but not from inevitable haxorz and junkies like that.

that would be tight, but when it comes to danger there is no end. you'd have to have some kind of trading board that you would have to come to every day, you would post a pokemon and have to check every day to see if someone wanted it. plus, i'm pretty sure there are about a hundred haunters at the same level with the same stats and same moves. actually scratchthat. the chances of finding an exact pokemon at an exact level with an exact ability with the exact 4 moves is about
lets see carry the one multiply by that, add this
1: 81591125. and that differs between pokemon and gender

In Animal Crossing, don't they use codes to let other players enter your town? (never actually played it, so i'm just piecing together what I remember)
So, perhaps they'll do a system like that, where you only trade/battle/berry blend with people you want to?

I imagine if that's the case, people on these forums would probably put up their friend codes, and since everyone here is at least moderately trustworthy, I don't see any problem with having "official" Serebii.net tournaments.
Wireless gaming won't be all that risky at all.

While I do agree there is a trust issue with blind trading. But some people will truly want to trade. Friend code or not. I would want to give away starters to people who want/need them after I could breed them that is. I don't care if I was taken advantage of. I would think that some people would want to help.

*sighs* Wifi Compatibility has already been confired and it's on the MAIN SITE. I think this is about the 20th time I've seen a thread like this -.-

He's not asking that; he's asking to what extent can it be used. Like for mini-games and such.

For taking a long time, there better be a satisfying amount of online capabilities. Who knows? Maybe there will be online quests for multiplayers.

I hope that there will be no differences (like languages cause) across the world so you can battle everbody. I mean that you don't have special versions like we now have.(also for trading)
And I also fear to trade, but you can trade with friends that's much safer.

Well I don't think that online trading is a good idea cuz it's weird & abit well weird, anyways I hope you can trade by it but not online like as if it's like the wirless adopter but way better.

mmm... mini games... want pokemon bingo...
You may only be able to trade with friend codes... There's got to be some elaborate computer program/system that determines who's trade what and where otherwise...
I like the tournment idea... if nintendo has one the winner could get a rare pokemon or item...

Edit* this is all an educated guess, based on experience with similar systems of trading*

They could keep bad trades away easily. When you trade with somebody online, your game does not save automatically (like it does now). Instead, it asks if you want to trade again. If both players select "no" then the game saves and you each leave. If either player says yes, then the game goes back to the trade screen (the player saying no anyway would get a message stating, "Tim still wants to trade.") If somebody tries to cheat you by not trading your pokemon (gengar, golem, etc) back, they can't because if they leave anyway (by disconnecting), each game resets to the previous save and the trade is void.

If anybody found shifty business going on, they could easily report it on a forum that they frequent, and nobody will want to trade with said bad person again (unless he/she changes games/ID).

As to online tournaments, it'd be nice if you could upload your pokemon into a server (Similar to the download and play feature of DS; hosted by Nintendo, or even something like netbattle). Then you would use the pokemon while on the server (following its rules) and any sharked'mon could be siphoned out. If someone's game is disconnected for any reason, the online part of the server keeps their game information for up to 5-10 minutes (like magic online) so that they can try to reconnect and not risk losing the battle by default

I think Netbattle will be better than Wifi without trying. Although Wifi will allow you to trade Pokemon hopefully and it would be good if Pokemon contests came on wifi.

i think it will be good to trade and do things with wifi cause none of my friends play pokemon but there should be someway of filtering out cheats so its fair for everyone

I would like to see online downloads for rare Pokemon, where you have to use Wi-fi on a certain date to download it. They could do this for the DP little legendary, but it doesn't mean they have to stop events completely.

I think that you would have a friends list, in which you could enter your friends' friend code. You could check if they were online and battle or trade with them.

In addition to that, there would be a wifi battle mode, where it finds an opponent for you. You could enter in a ledgendary or non-legendary catigory.
