[Wifi] That's right, I made another Wifi Team

Discussion in 'Older Gen RMT' started by SomeoneIGuess, May 22, 2011.

    SomeoneIGuess ?Hu Hsilaciryl

OK, After a few tests of the team I posted several days ago, I noticed something. It sucked. I made a new team, but It has a hard time against Weather, specifically Sun. Also it might still suck, but at least it works sometimes.

Also since it's so different I didn't bother editing the old thread.
    "Team Preview"

    The Team

    Cloyster @ White Herb
    Ablity: Skill Link
    EVs: 252 Atk / 48 SAtk / 208 Spd
    Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
    - Shell Smash
    - Hydro Pump
    - Icicle Spear
    - Rock Blast

Cloyster. OK I can skip the introduction of the introductery Pokemon.

Shell Smash is a must. Otherwise Starmie wins the lead position. It raises all 3 Important Stats. Attack, Special Attack, and Speed. Hydro Pump because Hydro Pump. Screw that other move... err, what was it again? Icicle Spear, AKA The Cloyster move. Rock Blast, because utility + sweep = fail.

    EVs / Nature
Naive because my Defense is precious. Allows Cloyster to take hits. Lots of Mach Punching hits. EVs to outrun ScarfChomp and hit hard.

    Gengar (F) @ Expert Belt
    Ability: Levitate
    EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
    Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
    - Shadow Ball
    - Focus Blast
    - Disable
    - Substitute

Hello again, old friend. Gengar is one of the awesome new IV bred guys from Platinum. He's my second lead, since he has that Icy Wind + Shadow Ball thing. Also he mashes stuff hard. OK In-Game it's a she but the sprite tells otherwise.

Shadow Ball = STAB. That's a math lesson for you. Focus Blast Gives me perfect coverage over everything except it makes me vunerable to the 6th Gen Normal / Ghost. Disable because I said so. Also, SUBDISABLE. Substitute helps me stall for damage, kinda like how I need Stealth Rocks sometimes. Life Orb, Toxic Orb, Burn Orb, blah.

    EVs / Nature
Figure it out yourself, I've said it a trillion times.

    Garchomp @ Choice Scarf
    Ability: Sand Veil
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
    Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
    - Outrage
    - Earthquake
    - Stone Edge
    - Dual Chop

ScarfChomp > Gliscor. He checks Salamence, Dragonite, Sun Sweepers, etc. Also he whacks stuff. Hard.

Outrage is cool. It wrecks stuff including Haxorus. Earthquake because it's STAB Numbero Dos. I think that's number two. Stone Edge because Volcarona shits on me. Fire Blast for Steels.

    EVs / Nature
    Obvious EVs. No explaination needed.
    Ferrothorn (M) @ Leftovers
    Ability: Iron Barbs
    EVs: 252 HP / 48 Def / 208 SDef
    Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
    - Power Whip
    - Leech Seed
    - Thunder Wave
    - Stealth Rock

Jirachi. Empoleon + Gallade = Jirachi. Yep. Jirachi = Ferrothorn. Kinda.

Power Whip because Gyro Ball gets a power drop VS a slow opponent. And that happens thanks to Thunder Wave. Leech Seed = Wish supportish. Works with Gengar to an extent. Stealth Rock because my team needs Stealth Rock support and stuff.

    EVs / Nature
High Special Bulk because he needs it. Also to take random attacks, since I really need to survive that -2 Flamethrower / HP Fire

    Azumarill @ Choice Band
    Ability: Huge Power
    EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
    Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
    - Aqua Jet
    - Superpower
    - Ice Punch
    - Waterfall

Keeping up the "slow and powerful" theme of my team's core. OK Nevermid forget I said that. Also it checks 'Xcadrill. And Cloyster.

Aqua Jet to check 'Xcadrill. And Terrorkion. And to speed him up a little. Superpower to check Cloyster... I think. Ice Punch because he also checks ScarfChomp. Waterfall for consistency.

    Rotom-H @ Choice Scarf
    Ability: Levitate
    EVs: 40 HP / 252 SAtk / 216 Spd
    Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
    - Trick
    - Overheat
    - Thunderbolt
    - Volt Switch

That's right, it. No really, Rotom is Genderless. It checks Gyarados and counters Ferrothorn. And Checks Thundurus. I had a battle earlier and I tricked my Scarf onto a Conkeldurr. Next thing I knew, it Paybacked my 11 HP Empoleon who was hoping to outrun it. ~!@$%^&*(
Also this guy is fun to use. Had a Trick war against a Transform Mew. SHUDDA SWITCHED TO GLISCOR ARGH.

Trick locks my target onto a move of their choice. Yep. Overheat burns stuff up. Thunderbolt = STAB Numbero Uno. Volt Switch lets this guy lead on occasion. It also lets me counter their switch in.

    EVs / Nature
EV'd to outrun Gyarados. And have bulk.

I've had trouble against Weather Teams, specifically Sun, thus I might replace Gliscor with a ScarfChomp. With Stone Edge. Like this.

    Garchomp @ Choice Scarf
    Ability: Sand Veil
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
    Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
    - Outrage
    - Earthquake
    - Stone Edge
    - Fire Blast

No, no descriptions or pics for this until I officially add it to the team. OK Maybe. A little.

Garchomp checks some stuff, but then I'd lose Gliscor as something to switch-in to make status fail. It also helps me against Dragons, like Garchomp and Dragonite.

    OK I swapped.

    Changes in White as usual.

Alakazam - Ferrothorn walls it to hell. Azumarril can revenge / switch into Shadow Ball and KO with Aquatic Jetting moves.

    Azumarill - Cloyster. setsup.

Blaziken - Gengar outspeeds. As does Garchomp. As does Rotom. All can KO but Rotom. Azumarill KOs even Speed Boosters.

Blissey - Gengar is untouchable after it throws a sub, as long as Blissey lacks Ice Beam / Flamethrower / Thunderbolt.

    Breloom - Gengar. Rotom. Garchomp.

Chandelure - Garchomp, Azumarril. I'm not stating reasons unless I really need to now.

    Cloyster - Azumarill.

Conkeldurr - Ehr, it gets a double KO before I kill it. Overheat might KO but I'm not sure.

Ditto - What's it gonna do? Nothing!

Dragonite - Icicle Spear! Thunder Wave! Outrage! Icy Wind! Ice Punch!

Espeon - I don't inflict status outside of Thunder Wave. And don't set up hazards either.

    Excadrill - Azumarill.

Ferrothorn - Rotom. Azumarill 2HKOs but POWERWHIPARGH.

    Forretress - See above minuspowerwhipargh.

Garchomp - Screw this thing, I have Icicle Spear and stuffs. See Dragonite.

Genesect - Go, Rotom! (Walled, and Checked)

    Gengar - Aqua Jet.

Gliscor - Ice Punch. See Garchomp.

    Gyarados - Rotom.

    Haxorus - Ferrothorn.

    Heatran - Azumarill. Garchomp.

Hippowdon - Cloyster. Azumarill. Man this is boring.

    Hydreigon - Azumarill. Ferro.

    Infernape - Rotom. Azumarill.

Jellicent - Walls me? Nope. Unless Garchomp dies, then yes. Ferrothorn walls it back. Gengar "walls" it back.

Jirachi - Rotom. Frothorn. Azumarill. All take Iron Head until tomorrow. Garchomp revenges but can be Iron Headed to hell.

Keldeo - Chompy revenge. Rotom revenge.

    Kingdra - Frothorn

    Landorus - Gengar. Cloyster. Azu.

Latias - Ferro walls. Garchomp revenges.

Latios - Ferro walls. Garchomp revenges.

Lucario - Garchomp revenges. Rotom stops. Azumarill revenges.

    Magnezone - Rotom, Garchomp.

Metagross - Rotom dead stops it. Garchomp switches in on Thunderpunch. And kills. Cloyster can setup. CAN. But it's unlikly to be KOd by Hydro Pump.

Mew - It's too versatile for me to tell you how I counter it.

Ninetales - Azumarill... doesn't work. Chompy.

Politoed - Ahzoomareel walls it, and Waterfall hits RIDICULOUSLY hard in the rain.

Porygon2 - Rotom resist Bolt Beam. Ferro wall.

Reuniclus - Rotom can Trick it. If it sets up, hopefully it's taken enough damage for Garchomp to revenge. Or Azumarill.

Salamence - Garchomp revenge kills. Ferro handles Mixmence without Fire Blast, but that's 0 of them

Scizor - Rotom takes hits all day. Azumarill can also take a hit and KO... I think. Cloyster might be able to setup, I think.

Scrafty - Parahax. Shed Skin shits, but flinchhax. It can't take repeated hits too well either.

    Serperior - Rotom... Argh.

Skarmory - Rotom, Cloyster, Ferrothorn, Azumarill. All take a hit and 2HKO at least. Except Ferro. You know.

Starmie - Rotom revenges. Man I rely too much on Rotom. Ferro walls.

    Swampert - Gengar.

Tentacruel - Dude, 3/6 of my team is immune to Toxic Spikes. Garchomp kills all. Ferro walls, but can't really do damage.

    Thundurus - Rotom, Chompy, Ferro?.

Togekiss - Gengar... Frothorn... Rotom... zzz

Tyranitar - Azumarill. Duh. What's it gonna do, like seriously.

    Vaporeon - Ferrothorn. JIRACHI OWNed.

Venusaur - Rotom Overheats the overheated venue.

Volcarona - In the sun, it screws me. Garchomp is the result of this.

Zapdos - Rotom walls. Takes hits. Garchomp kills non-defensive.

    Zoroark - ...Uh huh.

    - TBird, Fa7e and MAA for commenting.

    - beshort and T100 for being annoying... like #$%^&*()

    - People who ripped the sprites, like I know who.

    - GameFreak for making this game... ehr.

    - PO for the format that I use... But why Trait?

-- Additional Comments, I.E. Changes to make, Etc --

Since I refuse to double post, I've been thinking, Starmie over Cloyster, since ever since I changed Cloyster's Rapid Spin to Rock Blast, it didn't quite work as a spinner. Heh. So, How about

    Starmie @ Focus Sash
    Ability: Natural Cure
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
    Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
    - Hydro Pump
    - Ice Beam
    - Thunderbolt / Grass Knot
    - Rapid Spin

And yes, I did just make that up on the spot without opening PO or something. I love doing that. The only difference is that I omitted the Gender and changed Trait to Ability. Man I need to get a life D:

Dunno. Your team is good on paper. So, what is Gliscor hoping to taunt? If not, just use protect to scout and heal health. Man, you make me want to make a new team with guys that are seldom seen. Of course, I must keep my Conkeldurr.
  3. T100

    T100 T100

That threat list is extremely long.
But i don't think it's worth putting pokemon such as empoleon in just for it's typing.
  4. beshort123

    beshort123 <----Uber

Take out Empoleon, replace it with a rest/talk milotic trust me you'll get better results. I've used them both.
  5. SomeoneIGuess

    SomeoneIGuess ?Hu Hsilaciryl

No, Empoleon is awesome. Aqua Jet kills everything after one or two Hone Claws, even things that are hoping to kill it. That's Terrakion, Infernape, Volcanora, etc. Milotic lacks Priority, has no Steel Typing which is essential, and can't go mixed.

And that Threatlist states threatening stuff in colors. Red, Orange, and Yellow.

Well, Every team needs a Taunter, right?

OK who am I joking, screw Taunt. Now I can do Swords Dance - Earthquake - Ice Fang - Roost. With Sand Veil.

Wait I have Garchomp. At the bottom. Yep I'm replacing.

Milotic is crap. Empoleon takes hits fine. Milotic can't survive a Draco Meteor, Outrage, or even a Grass Knot. Also Steels are awesome and every team needs a steel.
If I wanted a bulky water type then Milotic is OK i guess, but really, Empoleon at least has some reasonable offense.

    Replaced Gliscor with Garchomp.

    T100 T100

    This is a RMT
If you're not listening to advice, why ask.
From personal experience i know that Milotic would work on your team at least give it a try
  9. SomeoneIGuess

    SomeoneIGuess ?Hu Hsilaciryl

I'm not using Empoleon because he's a Water Type, I used him because I wanted a Steel type that was neutral to Fire and wasn't weak to Water. So no Milotic. Got that?

Now stop suggesting that and give better advice than that already.
  10. MudkipsAreAwesome

    MudkipsAreAwesome I was there.

He wants steel support guys. Milotic does not get steel support. Although he gets Haze, and can phaze.
  11. beshort123

    beshort123 <----Uber

Yeah but that doesn't mean he should be completely closed to suggestions.
  12. SomeoneIGuess

    SomeoneIGuess ?Hu Hsilaciryl

Yeah but if I take out Empoleon, then which Steel's going in?

@v: What he said. Also Empoleon has Priority and I NEED THAT. And also mpoleon stops more stuff than Milotic. If I took out Empoleon, there's a lot mor stuff that thratn my team.

  13. MudkipsAreAwesome

    MudkipsAreAwesome I was there.

Are you brain dead? He said Milotic wouldn't work because it doesn't have a steel typing. Can you switch Milo into an outraging Mence? NO!
  14. beshort123

    beshort123 <----Uber

First of all no need to be so harsh, also to answer that question you could if you know how to time it right. As for priority it doesn't matter if it can't deal that much damage, or take a hit. The only priority move is aqua jet, and that can't do anything to a typical wall exept give it a free turn to set up.

dont use a -defense or spdefense on chomp, he has great natural bulk and it ruins it
and empoleons a beast and really underated, i used him almost every wifi match, but i would put stealth rocks on him somewhere and maybe try a Specially defensive set because ur team is really offensive and it can eat draco meteors

  16. SomeoneIGuess

    SomeoneIGuess ?Hu Hsilaciryl

Why would I Aqua Jet a wall without setting up first? I have Surf and Ice Beam anyways. Besides, you're being absolubtely bias and not seeing the point we're making. I WANT STEEL. NOT WATER. Empoleon is a Steel type, so Empoleon. I don't care for the water typing, the main thing is STEEL.

OK I'll try Jolly on Chomp, just thought that Fire Blast would be kinda weak if I us a -SAtk. But now that I think about it Fire Blast is kinda redundant. Overheat!
I'll Just replace it with Dual Chop.

Yeah, OK but then I'll have to remove the Life Orb... For Lefties. But lets test that. (Survive 3 Latios DMs... Eh lets use the EV Spread 236 HP / 20 Atk / 252 SAtk. That works. With Lefties.)

  17. Tbird

    Tbird Nice shot, man

The first thing I noticed was a place for you to free up a slot on your team; your Gallade + Empoleon = Use a Specially Defencive Jirachi. It provides the same thing that both of these guys bring. Empoleon's Steel typing with Gallade's Utility and better bulk.

    Jirachi @ Leftovers
    Trait: Serene Grace
    EVs: 252 HP / 192 SDef / 64 Spd
    Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
    - Stealth Rock / Fire Punch / Protect
    - Wish
    - Body Slam
    - Iron Head

Its main use is for taking out lati@s. If you see Garchomp, you use it as set up bait for Cloyster, you see one of the lati twins, you bring this dick in and troll over them. Hell; bring it in on a Draco meteor, wish off the damage and proceed to spread paralysis.
The EVs outpace max speed Scizor; which seems to be floating around a lot, and jolly tar. This set is also never 2HKOd by Haxorus... doing something like 41 - 54% damage to Jirachi with Outrage.

As this would open up a spot on your team, you could then invest in a more solid Terrakion / Excadrill counter. Unaware Quagsire wouldn't be too bad, and I've recently found that Slowbro + Jirachi have pretty boss Synergy. If priority is something that you're focused on, then Aqua Jet azumarill completely outclasses your current empoleon; where as Hitmontop is a great check to sand teams in general. Running hitmontop would also allow you to get rid of rapid spin on Cloyster. It shouldn't be sweeping and providing utility, IMO.

I do like the look of the team currently, anyway. Give my options a try and see if you find them to be of any benefit.
  18. Fa7e

    Fa7e Well-Known Member

u could use fire fang, or still keep fire blast, it should still handle x4 weak pokes even with the lowering SpA Nature not sure though didnt use calc or anything
  19. SomeoneIGuess

    SomeoneIGuess ?Hu Hsilaciryl

While I'm extremely against Jirachi for multiple reasons involving Cobalion, Paraflinch hax, and Jirachi being Jirachi, I have to agree that it retains Empoleon's steel typing, and Gallade's Special bulk while bringing better Physical Defense and bigger wishes. Since Rotom-H checks Scizor and Ferrothorn fairly well, I guess I'll go with Stealth Rock. Also I can drop down to 244 Speed since I'm going to lack Fire Punch anyway.
Since Gallade's removed, I'll try something with a Fighting resist.
Priority Fight / Water moves aren't on Fighting Resisters that can actually KO Terrakion and Excadrill. I'll test out Azumarril and Hitmontop
True, I have enountered situations where Cloyster needs Rock Blast, especially against Water Types.
Overheat actually kinda solves that already, since Rotom can safety switch into Scizor and Ferrothorn.
  20. beshort123

    beshort123 <----Uber

Like I said Empoleon cannot take a hit, so it wouldn't have time to set up. And if you want STEEL types so much then go for something like ferrothorn or something else that can use it's steel typing to it's advantage.
