Hi there Pokefans! I saw this just now and I thought I'd share it here:

DP will link up with Pokemon Battle Revolution (Wii version of Stadium/Collosseum).

DP will have worldwide Wifi voicechat.

The story

Nintendo held a press conference in Japan today, where they revealed more info about the Wii, the NDS and a new Pokemon game for the Wii.

While we don’t know if more info is on the way, here is the information that is known up until now about the press conference, which saw Nintendo’s president Satoru Iwata talking to the Japanese press.

The Wii’s official price and launch date will be announced by September. We suspect a Tokyo Game Show conference will be held for this information.

Nintendo plans to supply 2 million DS units per month worldwide and expects to sell through 16 million DS units by the end of the fiscal year, March 2007. That’s quite a lot indeed.

Statistics (for Japan):
32% of DS owners bought Animal Crossing
23% Mario Kart
14% Tetris
20% New Super Mario Bros
10 titles have shipped a million units

The Opera browser for the DS will be delayed a month, coming out in July now. The Oneseg TV tuner will go on sale in Autumn and will cost “approximately half the price of the DS hardware”, about 8400 yen.

Pokémon Diamond and Pearl on NDS will have wi-fi worldwide voicechat.

Finally, a Pokémon game for the Wii is announced, which will be able to link up with the DS games. Pokémon Battle Revolution is the name and here is the first screen capture of what was shown on the conference.

Amazing. I'm surprised that the Pokemon games have WiFi VoiceChat. Then again, it's no surprise, since it has support for the WiFi Connection.

Hopefully this'll shut people up when they say D/P isn't Wifi supported and that Wifi isn't the net. This is indeed good news though. Let's hope we get more down the pike!

the screen looks a lil bleh but what else would you expect from a first screeny. No doubt this is partially why diamond/pearl have taken so long to release. I had a sneaky suspicion that they were working on a game like that that would let you use the DS as a controller.

HMMM speed deoxys in the battle... didn't colosseum/XD only display the normal type... does this mean that there's a possibilty that when you transfer your deoxys that it'll stay form from whatever cartridge you DL?

Yeah, the graphics look nice and crisp. I love the news. Hopefully, the RPG mode or whatever (if there is one) will be better than Colosseum's and XD's, and more like the GBA games. Or maybe something different, like and MMORPG.

Yes. Hence the very principle of Wifi. You connect to the net. You can play everyone worldwide. Like in Animal Crossing: Wild World, Metroid Prime Hunters, Mario Kart DS and every other wifi game.

I don't know what you mean by important, but worldwide voicechat does imply that you'll be able to play anyone around the world. I have a feeling this will be done with friend codes a la Metroid Prime Hunters. That means that you'll probably be able to voicechat with people you know all over the world (just like MPH) as long as you have their friend codes.

As for regular battling/trading, they'll probably let you do that (pretty much) anonymously all over the world without friend codes, but you won't be able to do as much (look at Mario Kart & MPH Wifi setups)

Remember that this doesn't mean Pokemon will be an MMORPG.

From the sound and looks of it.... I'm guessing it will be one of or near one of the launch titles.
And as of right now i think serebii is too busy trying to recover the serebii.net server from the "explosion' that happened

I'm likeing the screen shot although I'd prefere cell shading, thsi is very good. I dislike how they try to make Pokmeon look real and stuff, whereas these don't look real but do look pretty sweet. Good news about the WiFi too but the rest of that news should be in the Nintendo Discussion, it doesn't really concern Pokemon. Nice find though.

Pokemon Battle Revolution looks amazing.. WiFi chat wil be the first of hopefully many surprises GameFreak have in store for us. And who said GameFreak will release just the same old rehashed pokemon game?

It's awesome that D/P will have voice chat... while that doesn't mean we'll have an MMORPG over the internet, I hope that it means we can at least customize the D/P characters over Wi-Fi, or something similar to that. :\

I just read the story on Planet Gamecube, and apparantly, DS games can be "expanded" by the Wii... so I'm hoping will be seeing special data in D/P to be unlocked by downloading it from the Wii system. (Hopefully event Pokemon can be gained that way :3)

Pokemon Battle Revolution is a MAJOR leap over Colosseum and XD, and it's looking very good to boot, and I can't wait to play it... hopefully it'll have full Wi-Fi support as well. I'm grasping at straws but it could be an MMORPG, but it'd take a lot of work to handle I suppose. :|

Heck, I hope the announcer's back, I've been stuck up a loop on pronouncing the names of the third generation, calling Snorunt "Snornut" for example. Don't even get me started on Groudon and Kyogre. >> <<;

And I'll be the first to say it... somehow make Celebi avaliable for download from Battle Revolution. *Shot*

No apologies needed, Mewman. You just didn't know. Now you know and knowing is half the battle. And yea, XL some people still think that. Perhaps a FAQ is in order.

As for me, I'm gonna say that this Battle Rev sounds cool. I wonder how the wii-mote will come into play. We'll probably be able to voice before we trade like how in Metroid Prime Hunters you can voice before a match by pressing X.

I mean not the rental ones, but more that you can't only use your party I just hate that, I mean before every battle you have to choose your party in the gameboy version, make it again possible at the game itself (nintendo) please.
