Will the new game influence the anime?

If you haven't heard the news, GameFreak has the next Pokemon RPG's slated for release in late 2010.

The problem is we have titles till the end of Feburary and Ash hasn't even gotten to Sunyshore yet. It seems like whatever the new game is, the writers aren't rushing for it.

There is quite a lot to cover in Sinnoh still, let alone if we're ever going to see the rest of the Elite 4 or Frontier Brains, so what do you think they will do? New games come out usually in November.

If it's the 5th generation I can see them not doing a filler arc at all. Completely ignoring the 4th Generation Frontier Brains.

In which case Dawn only gets one Grand Festival.

Anyway, 26 episodes.

It may be more or less than that counting breaks and double episodes, but with the titles up to DP164, that's what we're dealing with. 26 episodes to wrap up Sinnoh, about 7 months. Either the plan all along was to rush through Sunnyshore and beyond, or the writers got screwed because their plans went out the window once they got wiff of these games.

They already showed Palmer though, I hope Ash gets a rematch with him. I can see them do the Brains/Elite 4 quickly back to back right after the league though.

If they get rid of the traveling, they could do each match in a row to cut down time.

But it is probably the end for Dawn, either way. She'll have a good Grand Festival at least. She'll likely beat Zoey finally.

Some characters from the game might have their own filler later on. Or some plots from the game might also have their own episode. Similar to how pokemon ranger games get their own episodes.

I think they won't make a filler arc, or anything.
Just have Sinnoh over with and then probably just begin on the new generation.
Which makes me think that the Pokemon Ash might use in the League, makes up for up no filler region.

I hope it doesn't rush the anime, but it very well could. Might hurt Torterra, Infernape, and Gible. I mean he is only just getting infernape now, and is still working with Gible, and has yet to get Torterra. I hope they don't rush it, because those 3 would be really watered down to fit in the time left with Sinnoh.

Hopefully its just a new spin-off that can have a single special episode to promote it ala Ranger/MD, and then done. It said new pokemon and new region but each Ranger game takes place in a new region and is still a spin-off so I'm hoping its going along the lines of that and just cameos a 5th gen pokemon or two to promote the coming gen. Much like MD1 did with the statues of Weavile, Lucario, Bonsly, and Mime Jr.

But yeah if its 5th gen. it'll really hurt the anime. Because they'd have shown off Palmer for no reason also. I think he was meant to give Ash reason to go to the battle frontier; a rematch with him with Torterra vs. Rhyperior with Torterra winning. And give the new additions to the teams a chance to grow in character and show off their potential. So all in all, I think that its a new spin-off maybe with cameos of new pokemon.

New games have been officially announced now, so I don't think its still a banned topic. Either way the mods will decide when they get here.

Oh, I always thought it was September. Too use to the remakes and 3rd Games release.

So counting from February 18 the Piplup episode (there aren't any breaks so far), I get about 34.

That's still not a whole lot though, they better get moving.

If there were 14 episodes for the Elite/4 Brains then it would have to be like a 3 episode gap between all of them.

Looks good, but that would mean that there would be NO filler from the Piplup episode onward. And that's still cutting it close.

I don't get why they wasted time with episodes like the upcoming one "Piplup gets lost for the 1000th time", when there's a brand new game/Generation coming in a few months.

Let's wait until we know what the game actually is, huh? All we know is it's an RPG, that could mean a Mystery Dungeon game, or even some kind of Colosseum, Battle Revolution-like game.

Not sure what it'll do. I suspect that as the league and Grand Festival comes upon us, they'll start doubling up episodes, releasing two at once. Get more episodes in while you can. Then, either one of two things happen: a short arc with the Frontier Brains, or they'll return to Pallet Town and begin the new generation cycle.

Of course, they could also not go along with the games for once and debut the new area once they feel like they've done everything that could be done in Sinnoh. However, the odds of that happening are low.

This is assuming, of course, that these new games are indeed the Generation V games that we've been waiting for. Given how it fits into the timeline of previous games, this very likely could be it.

I still say we won't see an Elite Four arc or a Brain arc, but I guess writers really failed as Pluto/Charon is still on loose and Buck and Marley had yet to make their debuts, so is Shaymin and Heatran.

I really don't know what writers can do. I feel really sorry for them, myself and fandom.
