Will Wi-Fi just be for battling and trading?

I was wondering what would happen with the Wi-Fi features in this game.

I know that it's obvious that they're going to let you battle and possibley trade using this feature, but what if they also let you visit someone elses game, and have 2 on 2 battles with everyone? Maybe even tournaments with a friend vs. 2 other friends. That would be pretty cool.

Anyone else have any ideas on it?

Well, they'll probably have union rooms, and I hope they are bigger than the current one, and they should be live. (You can see everybody move around, but you can't move to a spot that would make another player get stuck).

They will have to get rid of the registerboard though.

Better yet, you should be able to shove people out of the way. XD

I hope that Wi-fi supports more capabilities. However, I bet the extent of its features would be battling, trading, and mixing records. I want to see people be able to donate Pokemon to others, and perhaps there could be a sort of item market where you could sell your wares for whatever price you desire.

I hope that if minigames are there, they can be playable with Wi-Fi too. Same with Berry blenders if they're there. I'd like tournaments with 16 people too. They could be official or unofficial. If they're official, anyone can enter and a prize is won at the end. If unofficial, only friends can enter, but you get no prize.

Err....I don't know exactly what Wi-Fi stands for....but I think it refers to the wireless connection.

If it does, maybe they could hold contests this way, it would be neat to face your friends instead of always facing 3 other programmed payers.

your right it means wireless connection. i dont think we should have one giant union room since imagine how crowded it could get. it would be LOADED with people if im correct and the DS has wireless internet type capabilties. if they do online events, then there would be literally thousands of players in the union room at the same time. i think it would be better if it was sectioned off into rooms or something. way easier

Wi-fi trading is a bad idea unless it's heavily regulated. There should be a limit, that you can only trade between Pokémon equal to your trainer level, which is the highest you've raised a Pokémon with your ID to.

That said, yes.

What's to stop me trading my Highest Pokemon to my other games. Plus also when did we have Trainer Levels?

It would likely be broken up into separate rooms - but you brought up a good point for how crowded it would be. I suspect that they would need to make plenty of rooms available, so overcrowding doesn't become that much of a hassle @_@ By the way, I got a smile out of the Slowpoke - Psyduck picture in your sig XD Thanks.

I'm with you. We shouldn't be sanctioned off by the level of the Pokemon we have, especially if we want to trade one low-leveled one with another. If their levels had to be exact, or in a specific range, it would just become too troublesome.

Some mini-games and stuff would be nice. I'd like to see such things as day-care and breeding centers. Like I agree to EV train your Pokemon for x much money. Trading items would be nice too.

Being able to have a room just for you and your friends sounds really nice and if the developers bring in the right features, people may even buy the game just for the Wi-Fi as they're doing with AC:WW.

I hope it includes more battle options, like tag battles. Just be innovative, and I'll buy the game!

Not only that, I bet they'll put some annoying minigames and not-so-nifty features in it too. :| *coughberrycrushingcough*

Theres something that probably wont happen,it would be to much like netbattle and it wouldnt be focused on ingame which as several times like Colleseum and Stadium didnt focus out of the game.IOW your money and other stuff would be useless, also there will be to much gamesharks, masterbrains, glitchs...

I imagine (if they do it at all) Wi-Fi will be for battling, trading, record mixing, and (if they are in the game) contests.

I also figure to avoid contact with Pokemon that you cant get outside of D/P they'll limit online trading until you obtain the National Dex. (if they still use that restriction system of course)

Indeed. Screw Berry Crushing.
If Gamefreak do eventually find themselves salivating at the thought of adding mini-games to the cart, they had better be of Pokémon Stadium quality. Those would be awesome.

It would be cool if you could actually talk to your friends, like you can in AC:WW , in your secret base or whatever they'll have.

Trading restrictions will probably be like, your GBA pokemon can only be traded after the elite 4 and something else. (Like that big computer in FR/LG) and you can't trade different Pokemon until then.

They should also put in the detailed rule things like they did with Pokemon XD.

I'd love if there was a Battle Fronteir for you and your friend to walk around in or big union rooms to chat with everyone before you battle or something.

I would hate it if it was like Mario Kart, and only random people appeared.

I think that it would be cool if Pokemon were to be like this, instead of computer trainers there would be real people walking around with there games that you could talk to using the same method used for Animal Crossing DS, and for the gym leaders and Elite Four can be AI but have there Pokemon lvl up.

I second that notion. A couple of good mini-games of that sort would be incredible.

As for Wi-Fi capabilities, I only ask for the minimum, trading and battling. You should be able to enter a plethora of different rooms, looking for potential opponents in a duel or a partner in swapping Pokemon. I think it would be great.

I don't think Wi-Fi trading is a good idea. For one thing,it would be too easy to get every pokemon. Also, the reason Gamefreak make 2-3 versions of every game is so that friends have to meet up and help each other to get all pokemon. Wi-Fi trading would totally undermine that.
