I'm not sure how copyright law works in Japan as opposed to the UK or US, but if you're going by the same type of copyright law that applies to Winnie the Pooh, you're looking at another 65 to 75 years before Pokemon enters public domain, so you, I, and most of the people on this forum will either be dead or really really old by the time that happens. Again though, I'm not sure if it's the same rules in Japan or if it works differently compared to the West.
