Wireless Problems

Hello All
I recently acquired a buddy with whom I can trade through the Wireless GBA adapter. However we're having problems trading.
Can someone lead me through the process? I have an Emerald, and he has a Fire Red. We've both beaten the E4, so we both have a national Pokedex.

We go to the Pokemon Center Upstairs.
Then to the center desk? or the rightmost desk?
And then we've gone through both situations without being able to trade.
The both channels tell me that trading is not possible with that trainer at the moment. What does that mean?
Thank you for your time.

first of all make sure you have a leaf green or fire red and your buddy has the same thing. If he has a emerald, sapphire etc.. you need to have beaten the game. If he has an emeraldn then he also has neede to beat the game.(as in Elite 4). Then make sure your adapter is connected properly.
Then i think you can go to either one to trade but the first desk is the friend area where you can actually see your friend as a trainer.
Oh and BTw if my suggestions dont work, ask your friend if he has given both the sapphire and ruby to Celio?

On leaf green or fire red you need to upgrade the network link to level 2 before you can trade to saphire, ruby or emerald.

And remember it doesn't work with ruby and sapphire.

No it doesn't because the wireless came out after R/S.

To get the National Dex in FR/LG you have to have 60 Pokemon and get it from Oak. You can't get it from just beating the Elite 4.

are you sure you both have the national dex?
In FR/LG, you have to catch 60 pokemon and talk to Oak.
In Emerald, I think you have to complete the Hoenn Dex.

It means that you need to get the Ruby and the Sapphire and give them to Celio in Fr/Lg before you can trade with any game other than Fr/Lg. On Emerald, you only need the National Dex.
EDIT: Darn it, beaten.

Still, you can't trade from Emerald to FireRed without the network machine repair. Like a few people have said, gather the Ruby and Sapphire, give them to Celio, and voila, that's it.
