ShadowCloud62

Child at Heart
Since my previous two fics haven't been as good as my first, Time's Sweetest Illusion, I believe I should start a new one.

Author's Note: For those who have read and reviewed Time's Sweetest Illusion, I thank you greatly. And this, my loyal reviewers, is my gift to you.

Prologue

There weren't any trees. It was just a flat stretch of green grass and flowers. The sky was always clear, always blue, always showing cheery sunshine. Doves flew by every moment, twittering pleasantly. There weren't any other animals.

This was the dimension many called the Meadow of Peace. It lived up to it's name, peaceful and tranquil. It was quiet, but in a pleasant way.

A creature kneeled downward and plucked a single dandelion off the ground. Smiling widely, it lifted the dandelion to another creature's lips.

The other creature smiled and ever so gently blew the dandelion fuzzes away. The creature who held the dandelion laughed and tossed the green stem aside. This creature had light orange fur, and his ears were perfectly shaped, no longer deformed. His yellow cheeks were glowing with happiness, and his arms rested content. He had a rather slim build, but nothing could be done with his white belly. His feet were awkwardly shaped but nevertheless normal for something like him, and his beady black eyes were gleaming with laughter.

Beside the rodent-like creature was a more human-like creature, a young female with a green bob on it's head, it seemed to be her hair. Her eyes were a beautiful cherry color, and her body was slim and white, however she wore what seemed to be a green gown around her body. Her arms were slim and green like her "gown", and a red triangular mark on her chest looked like a corset to her "gown".

"This place is beautiful," the rodent-like creature said, collapsing on his back, laying down on the grass, looking at the sky, "I love it here. Better than that hell, the Forest of Time, right, Shadora?"

The female named Shadora laid down beside the Raichu, giggling, "You're right about that. It is wonderful here, Kaytorin."

"C'mon, I told you to call me Kay. It's always Kay, you know that!" Kay said, laughing.

"Shadora, Kay."

The two pokemon sat up and instantly recognized the other pokemon in front of them. It was a small creature, looked like a turtle, blue skin, yellow stomach, red shell. It's eyes were a rather dark red, more of a blood red.

The Squirtle smiled widely and spoke, it's voice sounding like that of a young child, "Havin' fun, you two?"

Shadora laughed, "Yes...we are."

Kay rose, and stretched, "So, what's up, Sen?"

The young Squirtle named Sen grinned, revealing two front teeth missing, "Well, Mother wants to see you two. Don't know why, though. She wouldn't say what it was."

"Did she say it was important?" Kay asked.

"She said it could not wait." Sen replied.

Shadora was a little worried, though she tried not to show it, "Of course, Sen. Tell her we'll be right there."

"Heh, heh, sure, Miss Shadora, Mister Kay!" Sen jumped up and raced off.

Shadora turned to face Kay, trying to read his expression. Kay's eyes had dimmed with curiosity, and his lips upturned a little in suspicion.

"Are you worried?" Shadora asked without thinking.

Kay nodded, and placed an arm around the young woman, "Yes...I'm very worried."

READ TIME'S SWEETEST ILLUSION FIRST IF YOU WANT TO UNDERSTAND THIS ONE! Anyway, I know it doesn't look like much, but chapter one will be up shortly.

Xin Nian Dao!
Thats really good. I did read Time's Sweetest Illusion, just never got the time to review it. I'll review this one. ^-^

I didn't catch any mistakes, but I think you could use slightly more description here and there. Just slightly, because you are already real good at it.

I'll be sure to read this fanfic. Good luck! ^-^

Ooh, thankies! *gives out cookies* Finally finished chapter one, here goes nothing!

Chapter One

She was more of a kitten-like pokemon, floating in the air, though she had no wings. Small, pointed pink ears protruded cutely on her head. Her eyes were a pleasant and kindly blue, and her nose was an adorable U-shaped nose. Her tiny paws were neatly aligned with small claws, and her large feet were floating a few inches above the ground. Her long tail rested behind her.

This was Mother, the bringer of Hope. She was a Mew, who died many years ago. Usually her eyes would be gleaming with cheerfulness and she'd be smiling. However, when Shadora and Kay came to her, her eyes had dimmed with sadness and her smile was replaced with an uncharacteristic frown. This wasn't usual. When Mother was like this, it meant something was terribly wrong.

Kay and Shadora bowed. "What is it, Mother?" Kay asked, "Sen told us you wanted to see us."

"He said it was really important," Shadora replied, her own cherry colored eyes glistening with worry for Mother.

The Mew seemed exhausted. She finally plopped down onto her rear on the ground, holding her large head, sighing.

"Mother, is everything all right?" Kay asked worriedly.

"It is very important..." Mother's high-pitched child's voice sounded completely washed away, her voice was now low, melancholy, and velvety.

"What is wrong?" Shadora asked, running towards Mother and placing a reassuring arm around her tiny body, "Kay and I will help."

"Is it Evil?" Kay growled. He had fond memories of that thing....

"No, no, no....please, dear Shadora, I don't need help standing..." Mother gently shoved the Gardevoir away as she rose, trying to balance on her feet, but failing horribly as she lost her balance and fell on her rear once again.

"Mother, you're weak!" Kay exclaimed as he and Shadora tried helping Mother up.

"Yes, yes, I am aware...I called you two because I couldn't possibly tell the children or the others that dwell here in Peace. They would panic...you two are level-headed."

"Tell us what?" Shadora asked, however she feared the worst.

Mother pulled away from the two once again and sniffled. Crystal tears suddenly brimmed her large eyes. Mournfully she buried her face in one hand as she muttered,

"My time in Peace is up. I'm getting weaker. I must find a new Holy Mother for Peace....before I become a part of this meadow..."

"You mean...but Mother, no one can die here in Peace!" Shadora yelled.

"None of you can because you are all already dead. I am not an angel, dear. I am just as alive as an average human or pokemon. I was just a Guardian....for millions of years. Now it is my time."

Kay was the only one who remained silent in this. Shadora was instantly crying, but she was not sobbing. She struggled to keep her voice steady, "So what do you want us to do?! Just watch you die?! Who in goodness' sakes can possibly take your place, Mother?! Who?! Who will watch over us and protect us from Evil?! Who--?!"

"Shadora!" Kay gripped the Gardevoir's arm, cutting off her huge outburst. She turned to the Raichu, "What?"

"You have to trust Mother. She will make the right decision. Don't add pressure to her by yelling at her." Kay replied calmly. Shadora was shocked at his sudden behavior. Usually Kaytorin was the hot-tempered one, the one who always blew off his top whenever a crisis struck. Kay wasn't the type of pokemon who'd cry to express his feelings. He always had to get angry. But now he seemed too calm, too...

Realization struck her as she snatched her arm away from Kay's grasp and looked from Mother to him. Narrowing her eyes, Shadora clenched her fists and screamed at Kay, "YOU KNEW ABOUT THIS, DIDN'T YOU?!?!"

Kay narrowed his eyes slightly and looked away, towards the silently crying Mew, who was staring at Shadora.

Shadora wasn't satisfied with his answer, "DIDN'T YOU?!" she pried.

Kay shut his eyes tightly and nodded.

"How on Earth?! How could you possibly hide this from me?! I deserve to know, too! How long have you known, Kaytorin?!"

Again Kay did not answer right away.

"How. Long. Have. You. Known?" Shadora asked in a deadly tone, enunciating each word very clearly.

Kay was about to answer, but Mother finally spoke,

"For a long time now. Ever since the first day you arrived with him, redeeming him."

"What?! Why did you hide this from me?!" Shadora exclaimed.

"Because--!" Kay tried to talk, but Shadora cut him off,

"Because you wanted to wait?! Wait until Mother is DEAD to have me figure this out?!"

"Because Mother and I wanted you to be the new Holy Mother!" Kay finally yelled, opening his eyes and facing Shadora.

Mother merely nodded.

Silence followed for a few moments. Soon all they heard was Shadora's shocked whisper,

".....What?"

Done. Chapter Two will be up....soon.

The Pokemon Master

Master Trainer
Well, hello again, ShadowCloud! I'm deeply sorry for not reviewing your other fictions, I've been really pressed for time recently. And even more recently, I've had to catch up on several things, while at the same time writing my own fic. So I'm going to read and review this one (and from the looks of it, I'm going to enjoy it every bit as much as Time's Sweetest Illusion). So here we go: *rolls up sleeves*

Characters/Pokémon

Shadora: Same as ever! I'm glad that they're away from Evil now, and both her and Kay are together... I get a bad feeling that this will change soon, though...
Kaytorin: Just like Shadora, he hasn't changed a bit. Also, he's just as protective of her as ever, hiding the harsher truths and trying to keep her happy. He's still sensitive about his full name (amusing), and I really see no flaws with the transition from TSI to here (nor for Shadora, either).
Sen: I don't know why, but I get a really bad feeling about this messenger... maybe its the blood red eyes, the way he talks, or his two missing teeth, but I don't trust him. Maybe he's an infiltrator, sent by Evil...
Mother: NOOO! Mew's going to die... That's just plain cruel. And she seems so sad about it all... Other than that, she's just as kind and loving as in TSI.

Plot

Well... Something I definitely didn't see coming. Shadora's going to be the new Mother... *grins suddenly* Though I really enjoyed this:
ShadowCloud62 said:
"How. Long. Have. You. Known?" Shadora asked in a deadly tone, enunciating each word very clearly.
^^ Just loved it. Anyway, great plot so far, I can see how it's picking up from TSI. Good job!

Grammar

None that I saw. Great work!

Summary

Wonderful sequel so far! About the only complaint I have is that the Chapters are a little short... But I probably shouldn't complain, because the quality is outstanding. Keep it up!

Until we meet again...

Thankies! Some usually say sequels don't live up to the original, but I'm really hoping this will measure up to TSI's success. I often worry about my chapters, but I don't get too elaborate, like 20 pages long. At least a few 5, 6, 7 pages maybe....anyways, since I'm switching classes now, I must take my leave....for now...

Hush, keep it down
Noooooooooo! Mother's gonna die?! Somehow I can picture Shadora being the new Mother, though.

I'm glad to see 'em all back, too. Same great characters from before. I agree though that Sen seems a little......strange......and out of place, somewhat......but I digress.

Great work, keep it up!

I apologize greatly!!! *bows* My updates will be rather slow since school is giving us exit projects....*grumblegrumble...dumb school*....but here it is, chapter two!!

Chapter Two

"....What?" Shadora backed away a few steps.

Kay nodded, his mouth a thin, straight line, "Mm-hmm. Mother and I think you'd be perfect, Shaddy."

"It was Kaytorin who suggested it himself. I agreed to it instantly," Mother said, her voice a bit more cheerful than before. She was smiling widely, "Shadora, you would be perfect for the job."

"J--job?!" Shadora backed away even more, her sweet cherry colored eyes had instinctively changed to a light amethyst, "Are you insane?! Being a psychic pokemon is hard enough, having to concentrate and your mind must always be sharp, never must you be lazy or idle! But now you are stressing me out with this huge responsibility?! I will not do it! I will not!"

"Shadora!" Kay instantly grew worried, his eyes glowing with concern as he rushed forward and grabbed the Gardevoir by the shoulders, "There's no one else better for the job! You'd be perfect! You have a perfectly sharp mind and you're powerful enough to protect Peace, so why not?"

"Why not? Why NOT?!" Shadora shut her eyes tightly and tried not to lose control, but her power surged across the field. The ground rose beneath some of the pokemon who dwelled in Peace, causing half of them to fall flat on their faces.

The ground rose beneath Kay and Mother, but the Mew gracefully lifted herself up off the air. Unfortunately Kay wasn't so lucky. He stumbled, and fell backward, right on his rear.

"OHHHH DAMMIT!" Kay swore, rising and rubbing his rear, which was sore from landing on sharp rocks.

Shadora opened her eyes and they were cherry-colored again. She gasped and clapped a hand to her mouth, "I'm sorry! I lost control, I--!"

"Since when do you lose control?" Kay asked, raising his eyebrow while he still rubbed his sore rear.

Shadora paused. She had promised herself she wouldn't tell anyone of her problem. This all began happening recently, about a week before Mother announced this dreadful news.

Kay's shoulders sank as he growled, lowering his head, "So we're keepin' secrets, eh?"

"Kaytorin," Mother instantly calmed the angry Raichu, and turned to Shadora, "Shadora, dear, how long have you had these problems?"

"Since about a week ago, but I thought it was merely because it was a mind cold, or something of the sort. I haven't used my powers in ages, ever since...I was killed....but it's strange how they're bubbling up now." Shadora replied.

Kay winced at the word 'killed', and shook it off, anger replacing his pained expression, "But why didn't you tell me, Shadora? You could've told me and maybe we could've done some sparring to improve those powers of yours."

"Do....your powers surge out of control when you feel a certain emotion?" Mother asked, a small paw cupping her chin in thought.

"No...sometimes it just...happens." Shadora answered.

"Shadora," Mother spoke, "you would be a perfect Holy Mother...at least give it a chance."

"Okay, how does Holy Mothering interact with my powers?" Shadora's eyes narrowed in annoyance.

"Shaddy..." Kay said in a warning tone, his eyes widening in fear.

"Well, let me tell you something, Mother. WITH ALL DUE RESPECT, I CANNOT DO THIS!" Shadora broke into a yell. The ground rose with her powers yet again and poor Kay ended up on his rear again, on the same sharp rocks.

"AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHH SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!" Kay's voice echoed througout Peace.

***

"No."

"Come on, Shadora, you'll be great!"

"No!"

Kay sighed heavily as he struggled to keep up with Shadora. The two were walking throughout the meadow of Peace, and poor Kay was still trying to persuade Shadora to take Mother's position.

"Shadora, come on. It'll be awesome, who else would be better?"

Shadora stopped and whirled around so quickly that Kay almost tripped when he abruptly stopped.

"Look into my eyes, Kaytorin. What do they say? They say two letters--" she pointed to her left eye, "N!" and then she pointed to her right eye, "O!" she finally yelled,

"THAT SPELLS NO! N-O! NO! NO! NO!"

"SHADORA!! KAYTORIN!!!!"

The Gardevoir and the Raichu both turned to see the messenger, Sen. The Squirtle looked breathless from running and his eyes gleamed with tears and urgency.

"What is it, Sen?" Shadora asked, calming down, "What's wrong?"

Kay's eyes widened.

"It--it's Mother," Sen began to cry as he fell to his knees, "She's--she's dead!!!"

And for the first time in Peace, the sky turned gray and it rained.

Mysteries unfold....don't worry, next chapter will give in to Shadora's emotional trauma and how Mother died....it wasn't pretty. Meanwhile, as Shaddy sccumbs to sadness and isolation, Kaytorin tries to keep Peace at hand...but who will be the new Holy Mother...?

What happened to Troid!!? Anway, it is good, however the chapters seem to be quite short. Maybe try and make them a bit longer.. but other than that its mad.

Thanks, everyone. And to answer StrayedBullet's question about my previous, Troid....I really wasn't going anywhere with it. I had no more ideas, and not only that I didn't feel satisfied with how I portrayed everything. However, Troid's remake will return possibly this fall or sooner...

EDIT: The chapter!

Chapter Three

It was a massive downpour, like buckets were being flung down onto the ground. However Shadora and Kay continued following Sen throughout the field, towards the large crowd of those who were redeemed or dead.

When they made it, Shadora couldn't stop hearing the sobs of many pokemon.

Kay rushed over to comfort the sobbing Sen while the Gardevoir curiously stepped forward, past the first row of the crowd.

Her cherry-colored eyes widened in horror as she saw the Mew's dead body. The sweet Holy Mother of Peace did not die a peaceful death. The chew marks on her ears, her stomach, her arms....and the open wound, exposing an area where her heart was missing...

She was eaten....

Memories flooded Shadora's memory. Horrible, cruel memories. And with that, Shadora's eyes shut and she blacked out.

***

"Shadora!"

That voice was echoing around in her mind, who was this voice...?

"Shadora!!!"

Kay!

Shadora's eyes shot open and she sat up, "Kaytorin!" she yelled, holding her head in pain from rising so quickly.

"Don't get up. You collapsed." Kay explained as the crowd followed Sen, who was carrying Mother's covered corpse in his hands.

Shadora turned to the crowd, tears brimming in her eyes, "She was eaten, Kaytorin...after we left, she was...."

"What are we gonna do now?" Kay held her tighter, trying not to let her get up, "There's no Holy Mother to guide us...the pokemon in Peace are lost..."

Shadora shut her eyes in thought.

"You are perfect for this responsibility..."

She opened her eyes, a new determination gleaming within them. She looked directly at Kay and said boldly, "I will do it."

Kay's eyes hardened, "I thought you didn't want to do this."

"If Mother trusted me enough to take this responsibility, I'll do it. Besides, we can't just leave Peace unhandled, where Evil can easily flood it with darkness. I will do it, Kaytorin."

Kay sighed sadly, "Mother would've been happy."

Shadora's unshed tears finally fell as her voice broke, "She--she would've been very proud..."

***

The crowd was quiet as the ground covered Mother. Some were still sobbing uncontrollably.

Shadora stood at the head of Mother's grave, trying not to cry, as to keep Peace strong. Kay stood behind her, as well as Sen, both looking grave.

Mother was now a part of the earth. A part of Peace.

"Dwellers of Peace," Shadora found her voice. She spoke loud and clear, and boldly as to keep them attentive, "I understand that we no longer have a Holy Mother for our world. But we cannot mope!"

Kay had looked up in shock at Shadora's words. She was quite the speaker, and had a tone in her voice that could keep Peace strong.

Shadora dramatically raised both arms up to the sky as she yelled out over the rain, "We cannot mope! Would Mother have wanted us like this!" Some pokemon looked ashamed, "No! Does anyone have any courage to take Mother's place?"

There was a thick silence.

"I, Shadora Shadowdame, will take the place of Mother! I shall become....Holy Mother Shadora!!"

After Shadora's loud proclamation, the entire population of Peace seemed happier.

And...in the process, the gray clouds faded and the golden sun finally shone through.

Done. Next chapter will be up soon.

OMFG................
Oh Mew died... how very discomforting. Nice way to die in queasiness terms. I like Shadora, she seems very interesting. Just a couple of things:

Would Mother have wanted us like this!"

Shouldn't the ! be a ?

also:

And...in the process, the gray clouds faded and the golden sun finally shone through.

I think the ellipses here are not necessary, they don't fit in, and the "And" should be "and," and continued on from the previous sentence.

Whoa that's a lot of "and" in there.

Anyway, once again I find it a little short for a chapter, and I think it's because there is a lack of description within the chapters. But otherwise, it's good.

Whoa... Sorry for not reviewing last Chapter, I've been really busy... But wow. These are great, if pretty sad at the same time... Poor Mother... Being eaten is a horrible way to go. *shudders* Glad that Shaddy finally decided to take the responsibility, though I have to question what's going to happen now. Hmmm... As of yet, my only problem is still with length. It's not too much of a detail, though. Can't wait for the next Chapter!

Until we meet again...

StrayedBullet: My description is, if anything, my biggest flaw. I am still a budding writer, but with time I will only get better...I think ^_^;

TPM: Thanks for the review. Yes, length is another problem for me. I usually am a straightforward person who gets straight to the point...I'll have to fix that for my stories...

Well, since I don't wanna leave you guys hanging, here's a preview (inspired by SB's story, Ghoul *A MUST READ*):

Where in Peace does he think he's going?, Shadora thought as her eyes narrowed in curiosity. She considered getting Kaytorin over, maybe have him follow the messenger.

Sen did not stop, and Shadora began to wonder. Sen wasn't the same since Mother passed away and Shadora became the new Holy Mother. The Gardevoir considered following him herself.

Sen finally stopped in the middle of the meadow, and his head shot up, and an inhumane cry rang through the meadow. Shadora covered her ears, the sound was too piercing and terrifying. Then her eyes widened as she watched the Squirtle change into another form...

TGB: Yes, it is a very sad chapter. Sen does seem like a suspicious character, but he will be explained further.

SB: Don't be so modest! It has more description and anything, really.

;026; HEY!

Huh?!

;026; Where's Shadora?

Erm....Kay you're supposed to be in the story, not here.

;026; Oh....woops! I made a wrong turn into the wrong highway!

Okay, now drive back, and hurry up! My next update should be up soon!

Hmmm. Bite marks, gash in torso area, heart missing. Sounds a lot like what that devil of a devil, Evil, did to Kay in TSI. And the eaten well there is Shadora death for you this sounds all to fermiler.
