World Tournament or battle Frontier?

Faraway_Mew

Mew, mew... mew?
Might seem to be a bit early to be talking about the third installment of pokemon XY.... BUT! It is almost definitely be coming out accompanied by some post game battle facilities!
Unova didn't have a battle frontier but it has the world tournament. And tbh, I LOVED the world tournament.

So which one would most likely make a return? World Tournament? Or Battle Frontier?

I particularly liked the PWT in B/W2, especially when completing it would earn you a new colour on the Trainer Card. With the Battle Frontier - that's probably a bit boring because there's nothing you can really get out of it aside from BP. I'd probably say have the BF return first because it's easier to use, then move on to incorporating the PWT later down the chain.

Honestly, I love both.

While the Battle Frontier gives you fun new ways to battle, the PWT gave you past Characters (except, of course the E4 ._. ugh).

Actually, let me expand on this.

PWT had an option between Single, Double, triple, and Rotation Battles, while the Battle Frontier had an option between Singe, Double, and Multi to participate.

While the Battle Frontier was varied in the sense that one facility was essentially a cave, another being a way to see how your own Pokémon fights, another a battle where you could then access a small shop, and so-forth, whereas the PWT only had a difference between regular Battles and Type Specialists.

PWT had much fanservice, bringing many favorites into the game (discluding E4), while the Battle Frontier was solely against random trainers and the Frontier Brains.

So, yeah, both have their plusses and minuses, and I don't care which appears, as long as either one appears.

I think Gen 4 also had color changes after getting all gold symbols.
At least Emerald does give a color change.

Well PWT is interesting in itself (You know all familiar faces from gens 1-5 ,different battle rules and other stuff).
But I want a frontier.
I liked Battle Quest ,Battle Hall ,Battle Arcade ,Battle Pike and Palace(Not sure if liked is the right word ,maybe did ten times because of Spencer and his Lapras)
The frontier has many different styles of play , while PWT gives you the same battle tower feel.

How about a frontier and a battle Dome mode to battle gym leaders , champions etc.

I personally prefer the Pokemon World Tournament. I feel that it had more to distinguish its matches, unlike Battle Frontier, which got repetitive, in my opinion, despite all the many ways of battling. But that is just me.

Because I'm Worth It
Why not both? Why couldn't we see the return of the Battle Frontier (which I loved in both its incarnations) and have the PWT (which I also loved) as one of its facilities? Then we can have our cake and eat it too (with other kinds of cake as well)!

While I do like the world tournament, the battle frontier has more to do. I would like a game with both though.

No, it's not. That's why I think the PWT is better even though the BF has more facilities. The only Gen IV Battle-Frontier related colour change was winning 100 battles in a row at the Battle Tower. The others were entering the Hall of Fame (obviously), completing the Pokedex, capturing 50 flags in the Underground and winning a Super Contest at Master Rank.

Well. the PWT does have a rental tournament as well, but it doesn't tell you anything about the opponent's team, and was based on pure luck that you chose the right teammates. Also, you couldn't steal one of the Pokemon of the defeated opponent after a match. There was also a Mix Tournament and that was new to the battling facilities. It was meant to be based on Mix Battles played wirelessly against other players, in the Union Room or over IR. That hasn't been introduced to the BF either.

Well that was the most fun part of the factory.
If you almost got rolled over by that Blissey ,take it, try it out yourself.
Also you switch pokemon to not get severe disadvantages (because there is no such situation where you will not get a bad matchup in 7 matches).

I also like the battle Quest like crazy.
You know the adventurous feel of walking in a dark cave , battling trainers , collecting items , all zubats and other random things popping out as you have no repels ,just a limited amount of fluffy tails.

So B2W2 has a battle tower like feature(Subway) , battle dome(PWT).
Guess you could call the Black tower/White treehollow a less interactive battle quest ,and the PWT Rental as the Factory.
So 4 facilities not that bad.

I would personally love to see the return of a Pokemon World Tournament (including E4 this time please!) just because I was in love with seeing past Gym Leaders and Champions in one spot (yes, I know it was fanservice, but hey, it worked). The Battle Frontier wasn't bad, but I never got far enough with them just because I really sucked at it... I'm willing to give it another try though. :)

It would be awesome if they added both, but I have a feel that if one or the other was going to be added, it would be a Battle Frontier-like addition. IMO, the PWT was just seen last gen, so it wouldn't really be all that different asides from adding the Kalos Gym Leaders and the Champion. Maybe in Gen 7, sure, but having the PWT in gen succession would probably lose its hype? It's kind of different with the BF because the ones in Gen 3 and Gen 4 had different characters. They can just make a new round of characters for a Kalos Battle Frontier.

I liked both, but the Battle Frontier felt like a much greater accomplishment because of the Frontier brains. The PWT was fun, but it was limited in what you could do. That, and since the trainers were specialized and very limited in their teams, it was very easy in comparison to the Frontier. I feel like Frontier had the greater challenge, and I'd like to see it return. The PWT was a very satisfying substitute, though. If we could get both, with a Rivals and E4 tournament in the PWT, I'd be satisfied.

Oh man, I forgot about the rivals... That would be pretty fun too if they added them to a new PWT!

To me, the PWT is something that can really only be done once. It was a big, huge gathering of past regions Gym Leaders and Champions and Bianca. Unless they did something like past Rivals or past protagonists, I don't have the same thrill I had about PWT back in BW2.

The bad thing about PWT is there's no advancing further than the 3 battles, so there's really no difficulty curve. The AI seems to ramp up a bit once you get to the World and Championship, but after that, it gets boring fighting the same Pokemon over and over again. At least with the Subway/Frontier/Tower you get more challenging opponents as you progress.

PWT seemed to me more fun. Even if Battle Frontiers has more varied facilities, creating a team for it was easy. Just 3 balanced offensive Pokémon and a bit of conservation in Battle Castle, and Battle Frontier was a piece of cake. However, in PWT there is ALL the types to consider as the Gym Leaders have extremely varied teams and competitive movesets/ items that can prove to ve quite challenging. Making a team for PWT is fun and never got old for me.

Then again, I guess XY will introduce some new facility with completely different rules and systems. Game Freak has always been creative. Expecting something grand from them this time too.

No. Have you done the Driftveil, Rental and Mix Tournaments? You get random players in those ones as well such as Destiny and Bobmassa, just like at the BF or in the Subway. It's not just about Gym Leaders. Otherwise we'd only get five other participants in the Driftveil Tournament.

Those people are still very specific and limited in what they use, and hardly count since you really only fight one of those random trainer per challenge in the Driftveil Tournment. There also aren't that many random trainers to begin with, and I'm sure those trainers don't appear in the Subway. Really though, the PWT was pretty much about the Gym Leaders and Champions. There wasn't a real draw to do any of the other things, and Mix Masters and Rental Masters exclusively had Gym Leaders anyway. His point still stands, though, that the PWT really can't be done more than once unless they do something totally different with it.

I love both, so it's a tough choice.

I enjoyed winning in PWT, but the variety in the BF attracted me to it, too.

My favourite, because of that, is the Battle Frontier.

Just another guy
the battle frontier has different ways to battle, whereas the pwt brought back old characters. I liked both of them, so instead of having both why not have a mix of the two. Have one or more of the facilities have you battle past gym leaders. then everyone's happy, right?

It makes me sound like a complete genwunner and that I have my nostalgia goggles on, but I like the PWT simply because you get to battle old gym leaders and champions. Fun to battle them again.
