....Would you like.... type specialist goal again?

Honestly I wouldn’t care if they decided to redo that goal. I don’t count the classmates as having that goal (especially Lana) since they never outwardly claim that’s what they’re training for. I’d like to see a Steel type master this time around

Edit: it's suppose to say “would you like a type master goal again”

No and I wouldn't like a performer/coordinator type of goal either. Both are overdone and I want something fresh that involves battles for the female companion.

What's with the title. You sound like you have stage fright or something.

It's an aesthetic choice, couldn't you tell or

But that's what I'm asking. What's the aesthetic part supposed to be? Is it supposed be that fans don't have high hopes for this a type specialist or what?

You're thinking too much into it, it's just something I decided to do.

    Okey doke.

They can be great goals as seen in the Pokemon Adventures manga. For examples Iris's goal in the manga to become a Dragon Master is also to become Pokemon Champion and there's a pretty interesting backstory to it to compare to how she was handled in the anime where a Dragon Master seems to be a little vague. What the anime needs to do is define the borders a bit, the end-game goal of what proves they become this talented type specialists and a Pokemon Champion goal like in the manga for a dragon master is a pretty good way to prove that.

I think type specialist works okay as a secondary agenda. Kiawe for example is employed to the farm otherwise, so he has some sort of agenda besides it. However he is arguably one of the best examples of a type specialist besides minimal captures. His personality and agency lives and breathes fire, his team and even his ride Pokemon are consistent in that type (but also all dual types to allow him some versatility) and they have played on him gaining flexibility and not being a one hit wonder while still being allowed to keep his motif consistent (eg. getting Flyium Z even if Fireium Z is still his signature).

In this case the type specialty role isn't Kiawe's whole proactivity but it does seep a lot of extra charm to his character and development as a trainer. It helps that fire is a motif linked to many entertaining characteristics and personality traits.

It's possibly also why Misty stuck out better within her own special episodes than through a lot of the OS, because her role as gym leader gave her more to work with than just water typing (and also she got a more focused on water type battler). I don't think type specialist quite works as being all the character has to play on.

If it's anything like the Misty's and Iris' goal, no.

If they finally understand the entire point of type master goal arc should be overcoming it's weaknesses via diverse moveset, yes.

Kiawe is almost there, though I find it a shame he hasn't faced a water type yet.

Turtonator's defeated two rock types however. Hell the whole league pit him against super effective opponents, just not necessarily ones to his fire typing.

Only type specialists who were done justice was Misty and Kiawe. If they were on that level, than I welcome it

I dont think even they were given any major feats, misty was given gym leader job so as to write her off the series since her sisters were busy vacationing and most of her development was done offscreen whereas kiawe hardly battled before the league, i thought iris did well even winning one tournament until i realized she won it using excadrill. Type specialist goa is something which is so far kept in ambiguity.

If it was like Misty's (totally focused and actually willing to catch), yes.

If it was like Iris's (an absolute tease of a story who never did much to catch more Dragon-types of her own region and never made a real effort with the first one she got who only got to learning one or two measly moves), nayh.

I wouldn't. Its usually an ill-defined goal and requires convoluted circumstances for them to have challenges related to their goal. There aren't normally more than one or two major NPCs who specialise in any type in each game.

Plus it limits the diversity of pokemon that they can pick up. For instance Misty had one non-water type and several of her pokemon were ones that didn't lend themselves to having interesting personalities. And it limited her usefulness in battle and challenging situations. Its hard to remember a single really memorable moment from any of Misty's mon's in Kanto, Orange or Johto besides Togepi's and Psyduck's.

While Brock, who wasn't really dedicated to specific types, caught a variety of pokemon, even in Kanto and Johto. Including Zubat, Pineco and Vulpix. Which meant that his team was made up of interesting pokemon with versatile powers.

So long as we get some criteria for the type master goal.

I would love to see another specialist if they were someone like Iris (They eventually figure out they have some sort of special ability to understand certain types of Pokemon). I feel like Iris was dismissed too soon after she realized that she had something like that.

I preferred Iris story to Misty. At least she actively tried to bond with every Dragon Pokémon she got in contact with, actively challenged Drayden and Clair, tried to save/help every Dragon she got in contact with, was shown training her Pokémon and other stuff

    Hell no.
Contests or no old goals at all. If you reuse an old goal, at least make it a good one.

I’m open to new type specialist goals as long as they actually progress.Misty didn’t really do anything with her water polemon goal heck she even still has a goldeen after hundreds of episodes.I liked that Iris’s goal as a dragon master actually progressed she caught 2 dragon Pokémon and battled strong dragon trainers like Cynthia and Drayden.
