Well, I tried chaining for a shiny Luvdisc (since it's so easy to get) but I haven't had any luck. However, I gotta know - will the chain break if I don't beat the Pokemon, or can I just keep running away?

It shouldn't matter if you keep running away. The chain is fishing dependent, not combat dependent. In-general as long as you don't move and never have "Not even a nibble", the chain should stay.

(Although I'm guessing this should be discussed in the other thread...)

Well I had a great time last night on the OXIII Chat. Mainly because I was playing a lot of X at the same time.
Well, here is what happened. I started the EV Training of my Sassy Goomy that I got the day before, and I also up'ed my streak on the battle maison with Greninja, Hippowdon, and Gengar.

Caught an Espurr, Woke up Snorlax, and now just arrived at Route 8.

I must say, I am really loving this game.

So I've already maxed my Tyrantrum's affection this morning, and he does not swallow the cupcakes whole like I'd hoped. He likes being rubbed on the crest on his head, which is much easier to deal with than his belly. Now, I've started bonding with the final member of my team left to bond with, my Aegislash. It turns out, she can indeed eat Poké Puffs without a mouth, you just have to hold the cake over the space between her eye and the top of her shield. She likes being rubbed low on her shield, which I don't find weird at all, since she's a haunted sword and shield with no, *cough* lady parts, in that area of her body. Anyway, I got her to two hearts before giving my 3DS a rest to recharge.

Before bonding with Tyrantrum, however, I modified some of my team members' movesets. I taught Venusaur Substitute over Energy Ball, and Aegislash Swords Dance over Iron Head. My IVs, EVs and Natures might not be competition-ready, but at least my movesets are. That's been a rule I've followed since Gen 3, and I'll keep following it until the day that either Pokémon dies, or I do.

After finishing of EV Training and completing moveset, I went for a Free Battle in the Battle Spot and won a player using Mewtwo, Blaziken and Slamence. After that I found out that Clawitzer is interesting, so I went to Route 8 to caught some of them, although I haven't got any Modes Nature yet. After that I went to Lumiose City to customize my trainer.

It's really hard to say with RNG, but by my experience they do. I've bred a Torchic, a Venonat, a Scyther, and a Gible with both parents holding the items and all of them getting the natures and some to majority of the IVs (the Torchic and the Gible got 4 out of 5).

It's really up to chance. The Venonat took under an hour while the Torchic and the Gible took 3 days upon reaching the optimum parents.

Uhhh that's not what I meant. I was asking if one of the parents originally was Japanese, but then evolved so now has the English name (but still has the JPN tag, the country it came from), if that would affect Masuda Method or not.

I already have the necessary parents to make a 6IV Noibat. I could use the JP Ditto that have previously succeeded in 3 MM Shinies (Fennekin, Froakie, and Larvesta), but I want the shiny Noibat I'm trying to hatch be usable in battle.

Anyways, to stay on topic, still hatching bajillions of eggs. Have been going at it for around 4-5 straight days. I won't give up until I hatch that shiny Noibat!

Aaaaaaaaand... Done! My bonding time with my teammates and Pokémon-amie is totally finished! I won't do any bonding with my backup Clawitzer and Chesnaught; the Amie minigames are starting to erode my sanity, and I rarely actually use them on my team, anyway. My Fairy-type and Mega Evolver have permanent spots on my team, and my backup teammates directly interfere with that mandate.

Edit: I might've made a mistake I'll regret later, but I released my Clawitzer since I rarely use her, and I already have a shiny one, anyway. Chesnaught has gone to PC Box: Rarities to enjoy his retirement. Also, Amie boosts are super-OP'd! Increased crit chance, increased dodge chance, chance to withstand a KO shot, and even increased EXP gains! ...No wonder WiFi and the Maison disable Amie's effects!

Issued another Writ so I could level up and get a couple evolutions I've been waiting for ... Dragalge and Flogres. Got them both last evening and they are beautiful. Now I'm debating working on some of my Level 1 babies I got from GTS trades.

So I decided to skate around Lumiose, and I get to the Gym, take a picture at the Photo Spot, and go inside. I talk to the NPCs dotted around, ride the elevators and talk to the trainers I'd skipped/beaten, talk to Clemont (who's totes jelly of me being the champ), and then talk to his little sister, who gives me ribbons for maxing my teammates' Amie affections. Yay! I totally forgot there was a ribbon for that!

I exit the tower, skate outside some more, and head back to Santalune where I cram more calorie-laden Poké Puffs down my poor Pokémon's throats, (they get so hungry so quickly!) save the game, turn off my 3DS, and put it away. Unless I miraculously get the money to buy Y version behind my mother's back somehow, or a WiFi connection to download it off the E-Shop, I'll probably never be able to get it.

Just beat the Battle Charletaine Morgan for Rotation, she was a joke, it was my team of Rotom-H / (Mega) Gyarados / Aegislash / random poke vs. Swalot / Klefki / Sawsbuck / Mantine.

I DD'd while Swalot Stockpiled, I mega evolved, and then swept the team.

Now I'm gonna work on the Doubles line.

After getting the U-turn TM near the railway at the Couriway Station, I picked up a Rare Candy on the train platform and I headed down to the water's edge and sat on a bench in order to observe the waterfalls. After that I headed south to a bridge but before crossing it, I was stopped by Professor Sycamore who apologized about Lysandre and thanked me for stopping his evil plot. After talking some more, he challenged me to a battle. He sent out his Venusaur and I used Talonflame's Aerial Ace attack to beat it. Professor Sycamore then sent out Blastoise and I used Raichu to defeat it. All that remained was Sycamore's Charizard which I beat with Greninja. Sycamore mentioned a treasure when I beat him.

Now to add on to my last post about searching for a Shiny Onyx. I came across a shiny Nosepass

Just beat Regular Doubles Battle Charletaine Evelyn, she was as much a joke as her other sisters are. I just swept her team with +2 Aegislash and his Shadow Sneak, and +1 Mega Gyarados and Waterfall.

Now I'm going to start breeding Goomy's and Eevee's, I have to have a full six for triple battles apparently.

After speaking to Professor Sycamore, I used the Dowsing Machine to look for hidden items around Couriway Town. I headed over to a bush and found a Pretty Wing, then I went back to the water's edge near the waterfalls. I headed to the Couriway Station again but I only found common items like a Poke Ball and an Ether there. I headed to the southern part of town across a small bridge and I entered a house where I was questioned about my Froakie's size. I got a Mystic Water item which I attached to Greninja before going outside. I made my way over to the Couriway Hotel and got the Scald TM from a little boy there. I taught that to Greninja since Hydro Pump seemed highly redundant anyway. I then saved.

Started to Masuda breed for a shiny Charmander last night, been hatching the eggs since then. Also been trading on Wonder Trade... got some decent stuff from there and got a Raichu, a Wailord and some other Pokémon from the GTS. But on a side note, I had to hard reset due to a communication error on Wonder Trade (glad I saved before hand, was worried I lost around 200 hours worth of data/work at first).

Anyone else been running into a similar error recently?

Might try and go for the 8th badge tonight if I get the chance to.

Just ran into another error, only this... I think was someone randomly disconnecting before the trade could go through.

Did three things today. First of all, the berries I planted a few days ago were all ready to be harvested, I harvested them and got a bunch of all the stat-increasing berries as well as many Kee and Maranga berries thanks to mutation. I didn't plant any new berries but I will do that tomorrow. Second, I went to Lumiose City and did various things to max my style here. It was already quite high so I didn't have to do a lot. When I had done that, I obtained the Hatching O-Power, the last one for me to get and it will be the most useful one now that I am going to start breeding.

Which is the third thing I did today. I decided to go with something that might be hard as my first target, it was probably a bad idea but I will go through with it anyway. Thanks to some patience and a bit of luck, I managed to get somewhere with the breeding today already. Through some chain breeding, I now have one parent ready at least, although I doubt it will be the parent for the final product, it is more likely that it will take several generations before I am there. But before I can continue, I need to catch Pokemon to use as my second parent or as a parent for the second parent. I started with a little bit of reconnaissance today but did obviously not find what I was after. Since the odds are against me, I fear that it will take a while to get what I want. I will also have to breed and train one new catching assistant since I noticed that putting targets to sleep before catching them is almost mandatory. I have decided to go with Parasect since it suits the mission very well, and it learns Spore early which is good as I am too lazy to train a Shroomish. So I will probably do that first tomorrow, then we'll see if I can find and catch what I am after.

Caught my first shiny pokemon ever yesterday; it was a Lairon which I have since then evolved into an Aggron. I've been playing ever since the games came out, and I finally got one. Mind you, I don't use any methods like chaining, but I might try it soon!

Yea it's pretty weird. Ran into a GTS one not too long ago too, had to hard reset with that one as well. Just found out that I have to go to Lysandre Labs... back in Luimose city... yea . So back to that DEAR city, so I can go after the 8th badge afterwards.
