I guess it is at some events. I've been seeing it pop up from UDE Sneak Preview invite cards I get like on the GLAS one it said something like "Gladial Beasts bring a new fun way to tag duel or something". And I remember something about tag duels mentioned all the way back when CDIP was announced, "New Card Mechanic allow tag duels" that being the chain cards.
