Handy?

It's that one guy
A Pirates Life RP

Plot
All of his life, Archie had been preparing for this moment. Walking slowly as not to attract any unwanted attention from the cave dwelling Pokemon, he slowly made his way into the main chamber of the Seafloor Cavern. Excitement was an understatement for what the thirty eight year old man was feeling like as he glanced around this new and unique environment, sucking in the wonders of this place so untouched by man for so many generations. It had been almost impossible to track this place, but with the aid of the Red Orb that was resting in the palm of his left hand, he knew that this was the location of the legendary sea creature. The feeling he was getting from the orb as they grew closer to the location was all he needed. Now was the time. Now was his moment, and he was completely determined to revel in his fifteen minutes of fame. Traveling here alongside several others, he had commanded them to wait outside while he traveled to meet the legendary Pokemon, the creature that would allow him to complete his goals of world domination in a matter of seconds. The other Aqua members had shown concern at his desire to remain alone, but he simply shrugged them off. It was a personal goal that he would have to complete alone, and no man or woman could take it away from him. Nobody.

His competitors in Team Magma were foolish. They had attempted to initiate a plan similar to that of Archie, but the events turned quickly in Aquas direction when the Champion of the Hoenn region, Steven Stone, went against them rather than against Archie. However, considering that this event could very well spell the end of his beloved Hoenn region, Archie wouldn’t have been surprised if he arrived any second now, at which point Archie would obviously defeat him in battle should he need too. His underlings should delay the champion a bit, anyway. Not sure exactly how to summon the Legendary, he simply grasped the orb firmly with both hands, and stepped towards the center of the room. When one of his feet stepped forwards onto thin air, after he quickly retracted it, he realized that the Kyogre was already here. Just underneath him. As he glanced down into the hole, a large earthquake shook through the cavern, and he quickly leapt backwards as the water contained below rather suddenly sprayed out, Kyogre being jetted upwards as the water level in the section below rose. Archie felt his heart beat faster. The moment was finally here, so he would have to act quickly.

Holding the red orb forwards, he triumphantly cried towards the face of the Legendary. His words were ‘YOU WILL OBEY ME’. As he made the statement, the orb in his hand began to shine brightly, red light filling the room as the Kyogre was momentarily stunned by the event occurring. A large smile came over Archies face, and he couldn’t help but laugh as he felt the power he held in his hand. The energy was brilliant, his power being unmatched by any human he was sure. It glowed…and glowed…and glowed…but Kyogre remained still throughout. Archie took that as a good sign, and shouted with a feel of extreme self importance. ‘GO INSIDE THIS POKEBALL!’ he cried, holding out the most powerful ball his region had to offer, a Master Ball. The Kyogre did nothing, and a disturbed expression came across Archies face. ‘I SAID, GO INSIDE THIS-’ but alas, it seemed the legendary Pokemon was not having any of Archies shouting. Kyogre did move, but not quite in the way expected, launching a jet of water upwards from its mouth and making a hole on the top of the cavern. Staring at the Pokemon, Archies entire world came crashing down around him, all he had ever aspired for being ruined in a single moment. Why was it not working? Why was his plan doomed to fail? He had done everything to a perfect standard. Double checked, triple checked, countless times he made sure that everything was working, yet now his years of planning had gone to waist.

Another failure. How disappointing.

He was willing to simply give it all up then, simply stand there as the water would inevitably leak through the room and destroy him, but his loyal servants would never allow that to happen. Noticing something wrong, his loyal underlings had come to his rescue, a familiar face of the only admin to take the journey with him not lifting his spirits. Shelly had shown time and time again that she was fully devoted to her boss, but he wouldn’t have any of it. His true love was Kyogre, and as he watched it depart, he couldn’t help but cry out ‘FOLLOW IT, FOLLOW IT NOW!’ and quickly breaking into a run; he scrambled into the submarine that was fully ready to go. The other Aqua grunts were slow, too slow, and he commanded his driver to depart immediately. Shelly managed to get on board on time, but Archie was too consumed by madness at this time to even notice her. The submarine employed its fastest engines, but they weren’t enough. Kyogres signal was lost, and they would most likely never find it again. Soon enough, the submarine was rounded up by the Hoenn government, and he was thrown in the most secure prison in the land, left to rot for all eternity. Madness consumed him fully, and he was eventually released into a mental asylum, where he eventually perished due to his grief.

Five Years Later

Although Archie and his submarine had been captured, most of his former team members were still free, and intended to continue his goals very much so. His Son, Aqua Admin Matt, had waited behind at Slateport dock as his father departed for his journey. Maintaining radio link, he was the first to be informed when his father fell, and although his mother’s origin was unknown, Matt soon forced himself above the other two admins to reach the top spot of the Team. With Amber by his side, Matt and the team went underground, planning and researching until they believed they were ready to strike back against the world, to finally extract their necessary revenge. Heading straight to the front of the highly secured prison where many Aqua, Magma, Rocket and Galactic captives were held, the guards were overwhelmed by the sheer amount of forces that arrived. Reinforcements arrived, but it was too late. Matt had been planning for months, and his secondary Admin Amber had already set up a huge distraction nearby, meaning the reinforcements were seriously depleted when they reached Matt and his vengeful, free prisoners. Almost all the guards died that day, and those who didn’t were kept as prisoners, tortured for information about the government’s private information.

Of course, Matt knew they actually knew nothing about the government’s plans, they were simply prison guards, but he needed something to keep his grunts occupied while he planned with his Admins Amber and the recently rescued Admin Shelly on what they should actually attempt to do next. They had a large amount of infantry and a large prison complex under their control, but that was never going to be enough to overthrow the government of Hoenn. After a long discussion and a vote between the three Admins and the other higher ups of the new Aqua, they decided that they should simply lay low for now. Make their presence known to the police and Hoenn, keep them intimidated, but simply research all the possibilities available to them. Sending research teams to the other three nations, the Admins nervously awaited any form of good news, anything that they could use to take back the power which Matt believed was rightfully his, as the successor to his father’s team. He felt so helpless. That was, at least, until his scouts returned. The first scout returned from the Hoenn region, ecstatic at what he’d found. The wishmaker Pokemon seemed like a perfect way out. But then the scout explained that the Pokemon was in fact only sighted once every thousand years, and the last sighting had been but twenty years ago.

Secondly, two men returned from the Sinnoh Region, arguing as they made their way to the prison. They explained to Matt that they each had a perfectly viable target, and yet neither had any photographic proof. One explained about a Pokemon named Arceus, the supposed god that he constantly insisted did exist. The other man explained about a titan named Regigigas, but the effort required to capture this beast alone would take years and years, and Matt wanted a quick solution. It was then when his final scout arrived from the region of Johto. He seemed more excited about his suggestion than any of the others, and so Matt listened a tad more openly, and was amazed at what news he was given. A Pokemon that could time travel, photographed countless times in Ilex Forest, was easy pickings for the masses of Team Aqua, especially considering the small size of Johtos military. His scout stated that the Pokemon would be a tad difficult to catch, but Matt cared not. He was of the strong philosophy that Celebi could be caught by brute force, and although the scout wasn’t quite sure what he meant, he gave him the location at which Celebi had last been sighted, and Matt was off. Before he departed for his plane journey, though, he requested something from his scientists. He asked them to construct some sort of Pokeball able to control a legendary, more powerful than a Master Ball, and send it to him immediately.

Taking only the finest of his team with him, his plane crossed the oceans to the Johto region, avoiding detection through some form of masking machine, and eventually landing in the Ilex Forest, the location where Celebi had last been seen by a traveler. According to old legends, countless versions of this legendary existed, all from different time periods, so therefore they were more common than most other legendaries as large amounts could travel to the same time at once. Camping in his ship, he and the scouts went out constantly in search of this Pokemon, but nothing was found. The ball was sent across, known as a Fusion Ball, and Matt simply waited and waited. Until finally, by a lucky chance, Celebi appeared in the exact location it had been sighted in prior. A group of skilled Aqua Admins were waiting for it, and before it could escape, Matts pokeball found its mark, capturing the Celebi for his own means. Returning to his private plane, the group left as soon as they could. Matt had great plans for this little green guy, but he couldn’t pull them off until he was back at his prison like main base. On the way, discussions were held as to what they should do with Celebii. Amber suggested heading to the future, but Matt countered that with saying that the future may well have stronger technology than they do, and is uncertain. Shelly, still obsessed with Matts father, suggested they go back and save him, but Matt made up some mumbo jumbo about not going back into your own timeline. He knew that it wasn’t truly the case, he just didn’t want to save his father. He loved his power too much, and this was his time to rule.

So, he suggested what he saw as the only feasible option. To head back in time to a date where they could be certain of their rule, where gunpowder had not yet been discovered, and pokeballs not created. The perfect period of time was the dynasty of King Alexander of the Hoenn Region. This King was the one who’s scientists invented gunpowder, the telescope, light bulbs, and many of the necessary things for life today. So if Matt got in at the right time and killed him, history would be changed forever. History would become his. As he returned to his fortress, people stopped their usual work to come out and greet him. Thousands of grunts coming out to praise him. Not his father, him. His father could never complete something like this, and Matt had finally proved that he was superior. Initiating the plan straight away was something that he desired very much, but Amber advised him wisely to their next move. Rather than rush straight to the past, they would first go on a stealing spree, gathering all the modern technology and medicine they could find. They even stole some factory workers, scientists and nurses, people that they could use to help their cause when they went back in time. Eventually the time had arrived, and Matt released Celebi in front of the huge crowds. In one loud statement, he decreed that Celebi must take them back to the time of King Alexanders birth, and unable to resist, Celebi did as it was told.

The entire prison was enveloped in a large black aura, which in an instant teleported the entire building and everything inside it back in time. When the people first looked around, they found themselves located smack down in the middle of a large field, right next to the ocean itself. From looking at the general scenery and taking a look around, they deducted that they were in the future location of Mt Pyre, the mountain apparently having vanished when the transfer occurred. The capital city of the Kingdom itself was located in Lilycove, and the Team quickly got to work. Taking a large army, Matt led his troops to the helpless capital city, plowing through the people with his superior guns and technology. Soon, the current King Sebastian had surrendered, and Matt had him shot dead in front of his people as an example. Taking his son and soon to be King Alexander, he brutally shot him down also, shooting far more bullets than necessary to make sure his point was perfectly clear. First the capital, and then the kingdom, his plan was almost complete. Almost. Even though he despised his father to his very core, Matt would carry out his grand scheme, with nobody in the way to oppose him.

Capturing the Red and Blue Orbs with ease, he summoned both Kyogre and Groudon, and captured them both with two more of the Fusion Balls. His crew had brought sixty of the balls with them along with a huge amount of Pokeballs, sufficient enough to capture any Pokemon they needed. Declaring his fortress the capital of the world, he created huge tidal sweeps that cleared out large portions of the earth. But Matt wasn’t a fool. Mad, perhaps, but not a fool. Using Groudons abilities, he kept several islands safe from the floods, as although he could easily control the land, the sea was practically unclaimable. These islands would be the foundation of his metal empire, an empire that existed way before its given time. And it was his empire.

Ten Years Later

Matt has firmly taken control of all of the nine island chain bar one, where rebels managed to fight back and form an independent government. All people now either live to serve the Aqua Empire, or are considered outlaws, and if found to be guilty of such crimes are killed on the spot by Matts lawless clean up squads. Although the new technology has provided some advantages, like stopping a great plague that would have killed several million, it has brought more bad than good, gun technology being invented far more soon than it should have been. The rebels have made several attempts to fight back, and even managed to take out the main engine production facility, meaning many of Aquas defenses were suddenly null. The rebel leader, Captain Richards, has declared the time for rebellion is now, and many have taken to the seas in large boats, a combination of swords and guns giving the rebellion its first chance of full success.

Now is the time for heroes. Now is the time for legends. But more importantly than both, now is the time…for Pirates.

Information on the RP

In this roleplay, you will play a character in one of three ships. The Voracious Curiosity, The Blind Faith, and The Reckless Impatience. These ships all have different goals, and are all of different factions in the current Pokemon World, more information on these ships being listed below. This roleplay isn’t so much GM driven, but member driven also, allowing three very different roleplay experiences depending on which ship you decide to be on. The idea behind having three separate ships is very simple. Basically, as some may have noticed through my past RPs, I’m not often one to stick it out to the end. This time I’ve promised myself to put a real effort in, but in case that doesn’t work out, there are still two other ships left to RP on. If I suddenly stop posting, members from my ship can simply leave the ship in one of their posts, and swim away to be rescued by another one. And with the smaller roleplay groups, you won’t be too held back if one of the twelve members disappears. Each of the ships has a captain, and three other real members who can pick an on board position of what they chose, although some good examples of what ranks would probably exist on each ship are listed below. Members can suggest ideas to their captains via PM, and we may well end up with three separate roleplays, or if so wished one large skirmish of a roleplay.

Because I’ll have to rely heavily on the captains of both ships to keep their crew in check and making sure any plot ideas their crew have wouldn’t break the rules too much, I’ll need someone who I can trust in both positions. As such, although there are no reserves, if one wishes to be Captain of a ship simply post in this topic with a sample of your roleplaying skills and which ship you wish to be captain off. I’ll then search your past on the forum and see what roleplays you’ve been in, and consider whether you should be allowed that position or not. Multiple members can compete for the same captaincy, but I’d at least hope that some people would want to just be regular members of a ship as well, as we can’t run this roleplay with just three captains. So, now, moving on to the information regarding the three ships.

The Blind Faith

Captained by Captain Scott McCarthy, the Blind Faith is aligned fully with the rebellion, and devotes almost its entire services to aid the fight against Aqua. Although it does use some modern technologies, such as medicine and the Pokeballs brought from the future, they are less reluctant to use guns and other new forms of weaponry, only one of the ships crew even using guns at all. Using Pokemon as their cannons, they rely on nature itself to provide them the upper hand against the enemy, even if it doesn’t always turn out the way it should do. The Captain is proud of the training that his ship does with their Pokemon partners, especially with the large tendency of Psychic types, one in every three members of the crew having one of them on their team by average. The crew are generally royalists, and believe the King should be re-established on the throne in one way or another, King Peter, King Sebastians nephew, being the perfect person for this job, being held securely in the Rebels stronghold. The ship does steal supplies from the Aqua Empire on a constant basis, taking needed supplies back to their home before the much superior Aqua forces fight back against them, although their not unwilling to get into a fight if needed. The ship is fourty three years old, and is Captain Scotts pride and joy.

Jobs on the ship:
Captain: Scott McCarthy (Handymankg2)
First Mate: The captain’s right hand man, in charge of keeping the ship in check when the Captain isn’t around.
Second Mate: The captain’s left hand man, in charge of the ship at night, although does come out at day.
Pokemon Co-coordinator: The person in charge of making sure every Pokemon on the ship is fully rested and trained, also keeps track of the Pokeballs and what Pokemon have been caught.
Doctor: The Ships Doctor, pretty self explanatory.
Crow’s Nest: The person who keeps watch from the tallest point of the ship. Has a Pokemon with good vision or some sort of ability to sense impending danger.
Mapper: The person in charge of where the ship is heading, and locating landmarks and where they are on a map.
Cleaner: A simple cleaner. The cleaner will help to fight in the case of a brawl.
Cook: The cook of the ship. The cook will help to fight in the case of a brawl.
Supplies Man: The man who knows what inventories on the ship at what time. A boring but important job.
Grunt: Simple grunt workers, going about doing whatever the Captain or his Mates commands them to do. There are several on board the ship.

The Voracious Curiosity

Captained by _, this ship is the only one of the three which supports none of the three factions, preferring to do a bit of freelancing. They are explores by passion, and spend a large period of time sailing the open seas in searches of new Pokemon species, new medicines, and most importantly more land. With rumors that Aqua submerged the whole world when the floods came, the fact that someone brought back a painting of a mountain region from one of their journeys captured the fascination of the world. This ships captain is fascinated with the idea of a new world, and heads there in search of treasure as well as help against Aqua. Although the ship doesn’t actually support either side, they see that Aqua is an issue, and will fight against them should they attempt to take any of the captains prize haul. Buying technology off of a rogue salesman, they welcome the new abilities they gain with open arms, guns and cannons being common technology on their ship. They also use telescopes to search for new lands, and Pokemon are common on ships as pets more than battling allies. The ship was made twenty years ago, and has a storage compartment way ahead of its time, requiring a security code to get inside the chamber which contains the Captains most prized treasures. Every member of the ship carries some form of gun on their body, though Grunts will carry swords as well.

Captain: The ships captain, in charge of leading troops and keeping morale up.
First Mate: The captain’s right hand man, in charge of keeping the ship in check when the Captain isn’t around.
Second Mate: The captain’s left hand man, in charge of the ship at night, although does come out at day.
Doctor: The Ships Doctor, pretty self explanatory.
Crow’s Nest: The person who keeps watch from the tallest point of the ship. Has a telescope at all times.
Mapper: The person in charge of where the ship is heading, and locating landmarks and where they are on a map.
Cleaner: A simple cleaner. The cleaner will help to fight in the case of a brawl.
Cook: The cook of the ship. The cook will help to fight in the case of a brawl.
Treasure Keeper: The person who keeps inventory of the ship, and also guards the Treasure vault when enemies are sighted.
Artist: The person who paints locations sighted on their way. No photography exists excluding that of the Aqua group, so this is the only way one can create a good design of where they’ve been. Very important role.
Grunt: Simple grunt workers, going about doing whatever the Captain or his Mates commands them to do. There are several on board the ship.

The Reckless Impatience:

The Reckless Impatience is the only ship of the three that is fully aligned with the Aqua Empire, and are used as enforcers throughout the empire itself. Captain _ takes pride in the job, and will justify any action performed by saying ‘it’s for the good of the empire’. The Captain is one of the original grunts who came through in the time travel, but not as high as the three admins (the third admin being the kings former right hand man who jumped to Aquas side as soon as he saw which way it was going). They spend most of their time either hunting down pirates that are easy targets rather than the Rebel Base itself, which they generally avoid apart from brief raids. Ensuring the loyalty of the eight non rebellious islands is a priority also, as well as making sure they know exactly what each of the other ships are doing. They use modern technology to the maximum, and have had to recently rework their ship when fuel shipments have been being attacked by pirates. They all feel generally passionate about their work and the half of the ship that are civilians rather than grunts are simply forced into following their ways. They allow all to have Pokemon, but they make sure that the Aqua Pokemon are constantly stronger than the non aqua, generally allowing them to only have non-evolved Pokemon such as Staryu or Chinchou. They prefer to have water Pokemon, following their roots, but will rarely have others such as Golbats and Mightyena. The ship was founded eight years ago.

Captain: The ships captain, in charge of leading troops and keeping morale up. A high ranked Aqua member.
First Mate: The captain’s right hand man, in charge of keeping the ship in check when the Captain isn’t around. An Aqua member.
Second Mate: The captain’s left hand man, in charge of the ship at night, although does come out at day. Either Aqua or civilian.
Enforcer: An Aqua member who tracks the entire crew’s movements, and forces punishments if they go out of turn.
Doctor: The Ships Doctor, pretty self explanatory. Civilian.
Crow’s Nest: The person who keeps watch from the tallest point of the ship. Has a telescope at all times. An aqua or a civilian.
Mapper: The person in charge of where the ship is heading, and locating landmarks and where they are on a map. Aqua or Civlian.
Communicator: The communicator ensures that the ship remains in contact with the mainland at all times using simple phones. Aqua.
Cleaner: A simple cleaner. The cleaner will help to fight in the case of a brawl. Aqua or Civilian.
Cook: The cook of the ship. The cook will help to fight in the case of a brawl. Aqua or Civilian.
Grunt: Simple grunt workers, going about doing whatever the Captain or his Mates commands them to do. There are several on board the ship. Aqua or Civilian, but mainly civilian.

Rules

  • 1. Follow all Serebii Forum Rules, especially those pertaining to the RP section.
  • 2. Read around the RP Café and introduce yourself with Rping if you’re new (this is a guideline) and only sign up if you think you can satisfy the sign up.
  • 3. Activity will be good for this RP. I can understand people are starting school soon, but fairly frequent posting would be nice as I’d love to finish this RP.
  • 4. This is PG-13. It involves death due to being a pirate RP. I don’t want anything too gory, though, as there’s no point really.
  • 5. I can deny any Sign Up that I deem unsuitable, but you have a right as a roleplayer to know why I rejected you and I will respect that.
  • 6. Cursing is allowed if it’s minor. You will be evicted if you go over the top.
  • 7. I will not be having reservations. First come first serve, if you’re acceptable of course. Even if I’ve already accepted you, if someone comes along with a better sign up than you had when there’s no slots left and your profile was only just over what I wanted, you may well be replaced. If you make a decent sign up, which shouldn’t be that hard, you’ve got nothing to worry about. The only exclusions to this rule are captains, who can reserve in the method listed above if they’re good enough.
  • 8. I don’t do passwords. If you haven’t read the whole topic, it will be evident soon enough.
  • 9. Try to not clutter up the sign up threads with questions after you’ve been accepted, as a Discussion thread will be asked for soon enough. Asking questions before you’ve signed up though is fine, of course.
  • 10. If I’m unclear about anything or there’s a plot gap, please ask. I do realize most of it is poorly written as I’m fairly young, but don’t openly criticize my roleplay in this thread, please.
  • 11. As stated before, if I suddenly go inactive without giving any reason, feel free to jump ship and join another. Same thing if any of your captains are inactive. If someone quits, their position is then open to the public RP forum, although if a captain quits their replacement will be one of their crew. (not necessarily the first mate, mind)
  • 12. I expect captains to listen to their members opinions. Of course, if they’re not logical simply explain to them that (or if it counteracts something another member says). If any members feel their captain hasn’t been fair to them, contact me.

Sign Up Form

Name: The Name of your character, should be fairly obvious. Remember, this is in the past so try to be pastish. Although if you’re an Aqua member of course, it may be modern.
Age: Obvious. Lifespan is shorter here, but it has been on the rise. I wouldn’t expect anyone older than 60 on a ship, though.
Sex: Male or Female. Pretty straightforward.
Hometown/Area: What part of the world were you from prior to Aquas flood. The regions you can choose from are Hoenn, Kanto and Johto but I’ll leave it for you to decide what settlements there were back then.
Appearance: Two Paragraphs of description about your character (5 lines per paragraph, I’d hope) but I’d prefer longer if you can manage.
Personality: Again, minimum two paragraphs, hopefully more.
History: Possibly one of the most important categories, as it really allows you to be creative. 2 Paragraphs plus, and this is the section I want you to impress me in, so more is better. This may be a tad difficult to write, but I’m trusting you to at least give it a solid go. Read other peoples sign ups before you write your own, as they may contradict. Nobody can come from Sinnoh, as the region hasn’t been discovered by Hoenn, Kanto and Johto.
Skills: Does your character have any other skills apart from the abilities? Maybe they’re a fast runner, or a talented artist. Nothing is too insignificant to be posted here.
Ship: What ship are they a member of.
Job: What job do they have on their chosen ship.
Other: Anything that doesn’t fit anywhere else.

RPG Sample: This is a test to see if you're skilled enough for the RP. Just do a post like you normally would, or quote one of your best from another RP.

Pokemon:
Each member can only have two Pokemon at maximum, unless they are the Pokemon Co-ordinator, who may have three.

Species:
Obviously the most important thing about your Pokemon. No Legendaries, and no Sinnoh Pokemon bar evolutions of non-Sinnoh Pokemon and the water or flying types as they can make their way across the seas. If you’re on the Aqua ship and not an Aqua member, you can only have non evolved Pokemon. And make sure they make sense, also. Nobody would have a Torterra on a ship.
Nickname: Simple.
Personality: One paragraph of five lines please.
Moveset: I personally believe it’s an insult to Pokemons intelligence to only allow four moves, so I’ll allow up to eight from their whole move set excluding TMs, as that technology doesn’t exist/wasn’t brought back. Any HMs are considered to be known by any Pokemon that can use them automatically.

After Flood Locations: The Six Isles of the world.

Aquas Fortress: The prison taken back in time with them when Celebi was used, this is the capital city of the area, people living inside the prisons many cells. Most parts are no longer used as cells, but there is still a prison. Defenses are large around this area, and many ships are docked outside the prison at the capitals dock. The flagship of Aqua is also kept here, and is used to fight off any who attempt to take over the capital. All rebels are taken here to be executed.

Capricorn Isle: The hottest of all the islands as it’s the furthest to the worlds equator, Crimson isle is also the largest of them all. It has a large desert running across the center of the island, and the rest of the island is covered by a thick rainforest where Pokemon are found in abundance. The main place where Aqua captures Pokemon from, and the chief food exporter. Two settlements exist here, one on the northern coast (their capital), and one in the desert, the desert being independent from Aquas rule.
Notable locations: Caprica Town: The capital city located on the coast, it has a fairly large port from which much of the food of the empire is exported. As such, security is high around this port, and the population is kept under close watch by their assigned mayor, Senior Aqua Kernel.
Stonewall: Named after an ancient settlement in some of Hoenns history books, Stonewall is currently a very small town, rebelling from Aqua and attempting to live in an unknown location of the desert. They are hermits, but survive through breeding and eating certain species of Pokemon who are happy to live there.

Pisces Isle: The coldest of all the islands and one of the smallest, located in the north of the chain and known to snow constantly up on its single mountain. Ice Pokemon are found exclusively here, and a small factory is also located here, the chief supply of wood being found on this island. The population is fairly peaceful.
Notable Locations: Pisca Town: The small lumberjack village that is little defended. However, it is thought to be the Rebels next attack location, so Aqua have been keeping a closer eye on it.
Pisca Mountain: The frosty mountain in the islands center, with trees all the way up its side.

Virgo Isle: A small isle to the north of Capricorn, nothing really notable here. Its climate is fairly normal, large fields spanning its land. A river runs through its center.
Notable Locations: Virga Town: A small farming village with a fairly lax way of living. Two Aqua warships guard this place viciously.

Scorpio Isle: The chief industry isle of Aquas empire, known for the large factories that eat away constantly and the large amounts of sewage that exist here. Posion Type Pokemon love this place, and all people living here are forced into labor for a very tiny payment. They work long hours, and have extremely cruel masters who will whip you for so much as stopping.
Notable Locations: Scorpa Factory: The main factory and industry point in this island.
Scorpa II: The second largest factory produces Coal.
Scorpa III: An off coast factory, provides oil.

Taurus Isle: The island of rebellion where the main rebellions base is held. Its defenses almost match that of the capital, and hundreds of thousands of people are crammed into quite small places. They have a large, well defended dock of pirate ships that have turned to what they call the ‘true’ side. They support their former King and who they want to be current king fully, and plan to destroy Aqua. The climate is cool, slightly below zero on most nights.
Notable Locations: Taura City: Their capital city, the rebellions main base is here.
Alexander Bay: The port where most of their defensive navy is held, extremely large and extremely well defended.

Not a Seadra
I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO PLAY A PIRATE. <3

That being said, I hurried to make this... as I want to be the artist rather badly. P: Here's hoping you like him. I took some liberties with the history, which I hope was acceptable... I got somewhat confused as to when and where I was... haha.

Name: Howell Murphy (lazy people call him Howl, shortening it by a syllable. He responds equally to this.)

Age: 27

Sex:
Male

Hometown/Area: Kanto (in the area which would later become Saffron City—a fairly urbanized spot for its time, kind of a prairie environment.)

Appearance:
Howell, or Howl as he is often called, is a tall boy, standing somewhere above six feet. He is fairly thin, with long arms and legs. His arms do have a fair bit of tone, but his legs aren’t particularly strong. As thin as he is, he doesn’t look emaciated, and overall has a strong yet skinny figure. His skin has been kissed by the sun during years on deck and on the farm, giving it a nice bronze tone.

His face isn’t too memorable, but Howl is a fairly handsome young man. He has a particularly smooth complexion, which he keeps clean-shaven (as his hair doesn’t grow thick enough to make a cool beard, which he finds quite unfortunate). His nose is round, but not overly large, and his eyebrows are somewhat bushy. His chin is cleft and he has a rather defined jaw. His eyes are big and blue, and usually don’t seem to be paying that much attention, even though he has a keen eye for detail. He just gets distracted by all the beauty of the world, even the sea which he sees all the time. Howl’s hair is dark, chocolaty brown, and of a healthy length, covering his neck but not going far beyond that. He can pull in into a ponytail if he tries really hard, but he usually doesn’t. His bangs drift down in front of his face but don’t obscure his eyes.

Howell wears a light outfit, mostly because it’s quite hot on the open sea at times. This usually consists of a dark leather vest with some beadwork on parts of it, though he is prone to wearing shirts of an even lighter fabric near the hottest regions. These shirts are usually white or dusty tan. His choice of pants is a pair of light, baggy tan sweats (sort-of). These are held on his waist by a black leather belt (just in case) and tied off at his ankles by small rolls of bandages. He wears simple black leather shoes to keep his feet away from the deck (as he has no idea what’s down there…). If it gets cold out, he’ll usually just wrap up in a blanket, as he doesn’t own a jacket.

Personality:
Howell is a rebel at heart, though this isn’t apparent at first glance. He’s mostly calm, though he has moments of fire—whether in the form of outbursts, or sudden actions. He is willing to yield to reasonable authority, which is a good thing being on a ship. However, if he finds any request unreasonable, he is prone to actively disagree, and sometimes react very sharply. He has no love for the law, but a respect for the work of others. This is what kept him from being actively a thief or law-breaker, as he wouldn’t dream to take away someone’s hard-earned money. He does have a respect for work as both an artist and a farm boy. However, he has no respect at all for team Aqua, as they destroyed the world when he was just a kid who had just taken to the sea. He loves the sea and all that, but he had family on the land, and he feels like Aqua destroyed far too many lives and people’s hard work. He’s just glad that he and Awen are safe, really. In the end, he loves working on The Voracious Curiosity, and he doesn’t really care to rebel actively against Aqua, but he doesn’t like them.

Howell is pretty level-headed. He doesn’t often show his anger or raise his voice, but keeps his thoughts and feelings inside until it bursts out, which isn’t all that often. He doesn’t really show any kind of emotion except detached wonder at the things he sees, and pure affection toward his dear Awen. He doesn’t tolerate anyone insulting or hurting Awen or his art—his two loves. In fact, he’s quite aware that he’s a good artist, and doesn’t really appreciate praise (though he will pretend that he does to get people to buy it…) or critiques well. He is his own critic, as he sees it, and doesn’t need any other. Besides, his art is photographic in perfection most of the time, so he doesn’t need it. He's not generally that nice, just calmly alright with everyone and nice if he need be. However, he has a major soft spot for anything that looks helpless or weak.

Howl is an actor as well as an artist. He can very easily pretend to be or feel something very different from what he’s actually thinking, because he’s so level. This talent has gotten him several art sales and has helped him in living a pirate’s life. He has a ruthless side when it’s necessary, like during a fight or a raid, and will brandish his gun when he thinks it’s needed. While he’s a very good shot, he doesn’t like the idea of shooting people that much. He would protect Awen with his life. His art is well-protected in his room, and he willingly will show it to anyone who has a bit of authority. He usually pays an inordinate amount of attention to things, particularly visually, unless something very pretty has distracted him. He’s a sharp cookie, but can’t read or write, and doesn’t seem that intelligent at first.

History: Howell was born to a rather average family for the time in the center of the Kanto region. Here, there were rolling plains on all sides of him—nothing ever changed. He was always somewhat content with this life, as he didn’t know anything different. He was raised to be a farmer, like the rest of his family. His father was proud of him, but it always seemed to Howell that this was only because he was the eldest son. He wasn’t particularly good at farming, really. He was only good because he could see exactly how deep to plant the seeds, exactly how far apart the rows should be, without any difficulty. He was a sharp mind, but his body was only average. His father tried to ignore these things, but he knew it as well. Howell’s mother, on the other hand, wanted for him to try all sorts of things, but felt sure he would end up inheriting the farm. The son always felt just a tiny bit out of place, but since he didn’t know where else he would fit in, he never tried to go anywhere.

When Howl was nine, his mother convinced his father that he should go to school for the winter, when there was no crop to tend. The first class he had was reading and writing, as he needed those skills if he was ever going to learn anything else, really. He started working in a normal manner, just like everyone else in the class, until one day he saw that another kid (at the desk in front of him) was doodling. He was doodling a picture of what was probably a Pokemon, but Howl didn’t really know. He just suddenly realized that he could draw with this pencil, and immediately tried. The picture he produced was a strangely accurate rendition of his mother, especially for a ten-year-old. When Howell’s teacher saw it, she confiscated it and showed it to his parents. They agreed that it was wonderful, but it wouldn’t get him anywhere, so he needed to stop. However, nothing could stop Howl.

From that point on, he drew. In class, he had a pencil and paper available, so he drew there mainly. Eventually he stopped going to school, as his parents realized he was learning nothing, just drawing. He started helping around the house more at his father’s behest, as well as farming actively. But when he was ten, Howell started getting an allowance, and he spent his money on paper and pencils. Nothing could stop him from drawing pictures of everything, and he soon showed to be a real talent. His pictures recalled details perfectly, and had a wonderful amount of accuracy. He started wandering off into the plains when he otherwise would have been playing with his friends (his “free time”), where he would observe and draw the wild Pokemon. Howl kept a portfolio of his pictures in the satchel he always carried.

One day, while he was out drawing a flock of Murkrow and Honchkrow, Howell saw something very strange. One Honchkrow flew in carrying a small, brown object, which was struggling. Afraid, Howl suddenly yelled out and stood up, frightening the flock of birds and scattering them. The Honchkrow left behind its victim: a very young Eevee. It didn’t look like it was in too terrible of shape, but it was definitely injured. Howell picked it up, and found that it was shivering. He petted it, trying to calm it down, and gathered his things hastily. He had to take it home… maybe his mother would help him take care of it. Maybe she’d even let him keep it. It was so sweet, and it had no one to take care of it now. She had a Growlithe when she was young that she sometimes mentioned, and then there was that Meowth they sometimes took care of… so just maybe she would let him have it.

Howell brought the Eevee into the house quickly, running past his younger siblings. He showed it to his mother and begged for her to help him take care of it. Sympathetic and ever-supportive, his mother helped him nurse the small creature back to health. After that, it was completely attached to Howell. Even his father decided that the Eevee wouldn’t make it on its own, and since they didn’t really have a pet (that scraggly Meowth didn’t count), he could keep it provided it didn’t bother the Ponyta (who pulled the carts). The Eevee, a girl, proved to be no trouble once healthy, and even helped chase rats out of the field. She was always at Howl’s side, as though he was her mother. It was a fitting relationship. She came with him on his drawing expeditions, as his dearest companion.

One day, Howell was feeling rather uninspired, looking out at the plains. He looked down at his Eevee, and suddenly began to draw her. She had amazing poses, and was particularly easy to draw. After that, Howell felt inspired again. He realized that she was a sort of inspiration to him, and started calling her his “muse” offhand. Eventually, his mother, who was from a different culture and knew quite a few words from the old world, looked at her and said, “Oh, so she’s your Awen?” The name instantly stuck with Howell, and he named the small creature Awen. She took to the name nicely. Having named her brought the two even closer than before.

When Howell was twelve, his father decided he was old enough to go to the market in the south with him. Awen had to stay at home, however, which made Howell a bit sad, but it was only for a week. He wanted to see the south, so he went with his father. What he saw there was the sea—something he had never really known existed. It captured his imagination and his interest immediately. It was so like the plains, rolling on forever, yet so different, moving everywhere like it was alive. What he saw at market wasn’t that interesting, but the sea enthralled him. It made everything at home seem lackluster, somehow. But he was too young, as he saw it, so he didn’t say anything to his parents about the sea. He did draw it quite a bit, though, still never letting his family see his pictures.

Fast forward a few months, and Howell had another very interesting moment in his otherwise average life. He and Awen had wandered father into the plains than ever before, looking for something to draw. They stumbled upon a strange rock formation, which Howl found very interesting. He sat down and began to draw it as Awen poked around in the rocks, having never seen them either. The rocks sparkled in various colors in places, and in others were perfectly ordinary. It was full of various shapes and cuts of stone. As Howell finished his picture, he looked up to see Awen step on a strange spot in the rock which glowed red. Suddenly, she also began to glow, and then her form changed. She was bigger with red fur, and more fluff than ever on her neck and tail in the shade of yellow-tan. Her face wasn’t much different, but she didn’t look like herself at all. Howl was startled by this, but when she started rubbing against his leg, he realized that it was still Awen. She expelled a small puff of flame and wagged her tail, staring at him. A bit confused, Howell packed his things and went home, carrying the changed Awen with him.

His little brothers and sisters tried to ask about the weird thing he was carrying, but Howl ignored them and went straight to his mother. He frantically asked her what had happened. Luckily, his mother knew something about Pokemon, and simply smiled and explained that Awen had changed, but she was still Awen inside. She was just growing up, really—now called a Flareon, not an Eevee. Now she was warmer, and a bit more trouble, but she was loved all the same. Awen was the beloved pet of Howl’s family, except now, she had the capability to set things on fire.

This proved to be an issue when Howl was about fourteen. Awen had never caused a problem before, and she had been a Flareon for about six months. It was another day on the farm, with Howl operating the cart which Ponyta was pulling through the field. Ponyta tripped on something, and Awen was frightened—instinctively, she released a flame, which burned up the cart and a good deal of crop before it was contained. Howell’s father became angry and said that the Pokemon had to go. Howell, however, couldn’t stand the idea—Awen didn’t know how to take care of herself, I mean sure she was a mouser, but she couldn’t live out on the plains. She was his dear companion, not some creature to be thrown into the wilds when it causes collateral damage.

Immediately, Howl thought of the sea. He wanted to go there anyway, and he was a man now—he and Awen could go live by the sea, and he could draw, and sell his art. With his muse and his art, he wouldn’t need anything else… with rebellion burning in his heart, Howell did something very surprising: he took all the money that was rightfully his, all of his art, and his Awen and left. He ran south, to the market, where the sea which had enthralled him for two years awaited him.

For a few years, Howl lived poorly on the coast, trying to sell his artwork. Occasionally, a rich woman would see his talent, and buy a few pieces, and some people commissioned him to preserve their families or homes in art. He could scrape together enough money to buy supplies when he ran out and feed himself and Awen (who brought in customers with her cute act). He lived on the streets mostly, to avoid spending much money. He’s awfully thrifty, not needing too much money so long as he has art supplies and enough food.

During this time, Howell was noticed by the crew of The Voracious Curiosity. They needed someone who could preserve the things they saw on their expeditions with perfect accuracy, so that they could show the world (or not) their discoveries. Howl’s talent for doing exactly that was undeniable, so he was brought on board after finding that all he needed was art supplies, a bed, and food for him and his Pokemon. Awen has been trained since then not to breathe fire unless the situation is absolutely dire. Had it not been for that, she would never have been allowed on the boat—a fire-type at sea is a dangerous thing to have, anyway. She is Howl’s dear muse and friend, though, so he never would have come if they had denied her passage. The fact that she hunts out rats helps.

Now, Howell keeps track of everything The Voracious Curiosity sees, even drawing out the crew members and their Pokemon. He even draws the treasure that comes on board, but generally he hides those images from the captain. His art is well-preserved in his small cabin, where he and Awen live happily. He gets along fine with the crew and has learned to use a gun—his naturally keen eye has helped him take to it quickly. The fact that he doesn’t eat too much and does a very good job of drawing everything keeps him in good rapport with the crew. The cook thinks he should eat a bit more, though.

When the world flooded, only shortly after Howl joined the ship, he really didn’t have much a reaction. There was less to explore, which made him sad, and he had no idea what had become of everyone back home—likely, they did not survive. He tried not to dwell on this and simply held Awen close, and built steadily a pure hatred for Aqua, even though he would never actively resist. He just wanted to keep exploring, though he didn’t like the new rule all the same, as he really never liked being under anyone’s fist. He likes being part of the Voracious Curiosity too much to jump ship to really rebel.

Skills: Of course, Howell is an excellent artist, able to render with near-perfect accuracy anything he’s seen. In fact, he also has a photographic memory, so he can work on a picture after he’s seen something. He also has a nice singing voice and extremely sharp eyesight—he can point out small, seemingly insignificant details with only a glance. This makes him an extremely good shot, so when it comes down to the wire he will use a gun to defend his ship. He knows quite a bit about plants and farming since he was raised on a farm, and is fairly thrifty due to his life on the streets. His only other useful “talent” is that he doesn’t require as much food as most members of the crew.

Ship: The Voracious Curiosity

Job: Artist

Other: Howl likes meat, even though it's rarely available, and bread. He specifically trained Awen not to breathe fire, as it is bad on a wooden ship.

RPG Sample: Digging things up is good. This is from a Bleach RPG I did...
Hueco Mundo. Such a desolate, dull place, the quartz-trees standing like pathetic ghosts of true trees, the kind Alba remembered from the real world. From atop a large stone even, one could see far into the Hollow world, over the depressingly flat desert. Its perfect plane was disturbed only by a few boulders, such at the one Alba had mounted, and some mountains to the far distance. A castle sat somewhere in that distance, in some direction, but Alba had so tried to loose track of it that she had only a vague idea of its location.

The Arrancar woman glanced at the dull purple sky, her ice blue eyes matching its dullness. Such a depressing world... but she had to stay here in order to keep herself "fed", for she did not want to eat the souls of humans if at all avoidable. In fact, Alba didn't want to kill anyone who had done her no harm; that was her mindset for the time. But as volitale as she was, that may change on a dime. At the time she felt more pulled against Aizen-sama, yet Alba could not make herself truly want to oppose him. Confused, she looked into the distance blankly as the mild wind of Hueco Mundo made her ponytails lift and flow behind her, a vestige of her Hollow wings, the ones she had lost when she became an Arrancar.

But in the midst of this dreary, silent landscape, Alba suddenly felt something unusual. It came suddenly, causing the Arrancar to look suprised for a moment, turning sharply towards the sense. What appeared before her resembled a Garganta opening, yet there was something... different about it. Panicking that another Arrancar was on her tail, Alba sniffed the air, an old Hollow power that had never truly left her, only to find that the scent was by no means Arrancar. She leapt to her feet, poised atop the rock she had mounted, slightly defensive at the strong spiritual energy coming through the near-Garganta.

The woman who stepped out looked somewhat human, but Alba now recognized that she was a shinigami, or a former one at least. Before the Arrancar stood a dark skinned woman wearing an orange shirt and tight black pants, plus another tight black shirt under the original orange. Her long purple hair was tied up in a high ponytail. Alba remained defensive, yet curious as to why this woman had shown up. She pointed sharply at the new arrival. "Who are you and what are you doing here?"

The woman was perfectly calm and straightforward, but her seriousness was slightly unnerving. "You are to come to the Urahara Shouten in Karakura Town with me. A force is rallying there."

Alba was suprised. What what she saying? What sort of force would be meeting in Karakura Town... but one that would oppose Aizen-sama? She looked shocked, still incredibly tense. A shinigami asking her to come along... it was almost unbelievable. Yet it was happening. Alba tried to laugh it off, like it was some sort of joke. "You're kidding, right? With you? You're asking me, and Arrancar, to come with you?" her laugh was hysterical, fearful, and most of all confused. Yet in Alba's disbelief, the woman just stood stonelike, looking seriously at her.

Restraining herself, Alba stopped laughing, though she was still tense and definately still in shock. She took a moment to calm her mind and think. Something was pulling at her heart, like this was something she had to do, something that -- even though Aizen-sama may denounce her for it -- she wanted to do. She became serious as well, her expression mildly usure and nervous. "...when do you want me there?" she said, her voice unfaltering.

The purple haired woman smiled slightly, as if she had accomplished her mission. Her tone remaining serious, she replied, "It would be best that you come now." Alba closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She wasn't quite sure how this was going to go, but she knew she had to do this. Karakura town had become her second home, where she had watched students and thought of how happy her life had been compared to being a Hollow. But would she... would she have to work with shinigami? How awkward. Alba wasn't sure about that part of this little escapade.

The Arrancar nodded, slightly nervous. "Fine. I'm not busy." The other woman nodded back and walked into the almost-Garganta; Alba followed quickly in order to remain undetected. It wasn't very different from a Garganta, she observed, but it wasn't the same thing either. This was made from something other than an Arrancar... it was manufactured by some other force. It was only an instant until the hole opened overy an obscure spot in Karakura Town.

Alba and the woman stepped out onto the roof of a small, humble little shop. Suddenly, the Arrancar spoke up. "Hey, this thing involves shinigami, doesn't it? Whatever those fake bodies you guys use -- don't think I haven't seem 'em -- I need one. I'm not going to show myself to a bunch of shinigami with my mask on... they'll kill me on site." She was very serious about this; Alba knew well that Shingami didn't really accept Arrancar. She didn't want to be lead into some kind of trap, so she felt that if this woman wasn't tricking her she'd help her out on this matter.

The dark skinned woman nodded. "Come with me," she said, going to the side door of the shop and knocking. Alba followed and watched as the door was answered by a very large and imposing man. Alba looked mildly frightened by him and simply followed the woman from before, watching the man has his eyes followed her. She walked quickly around him as her leader did, very obviously unnerved. Alba kept behind the serious woman as she walked into a room where a man with a hat waited.

"Wait here." The woman stated as Alba entered the doorway. Unable to go anywhere, she just stood and watched as they spoke, then the woman beckoned her and Alba hustled over to them quickly, though there was no respect in her haste.

The hat man looked at her, serious but much more light hearted than the woman from earlier, and said, "So... you need a gigai?" He seemed rather odd, wearing a green and white striped hat plus a matching dark green robe hanging open over a green tunic and pants. He held both a cane and a fan and had short blonde hair.

Alba nodded silently, looking him in the eyes. "Yeah, if that's what those false bodies are called. I'd rather not get attacked by overtly hasty shinigami."

"Oh?" the man said, fanning himself. Alba looked dully at him and nodded again. "Well, I can lend you one, but you'll have to pay for it..." he held the fan up near his mouth, covering much of his face. "And since you don't have any money, Arrancar-san, you'll have to work around the shop to pay for it."

Alba was obstinate. "Wha-what?" she scowled slightly. "No way." she had no intention of working at the shop! She wasn't really sure what she was doing here in the first place! This mindset was too brief and shortly after blurting that out she thought of something, that maybe even if she wasn't going to stick around it'd be nice to get them to trust her somewhat. Shrugging it off, she glared at him.

The man continued to fan himself and tsk'd. "Whatever will we do then... you can't go out in front of them without a gigai, no?" Alba grumbled something. He continued, "I'll make you a deal then. If you can answer my riddle, you can have a gigai for free. If you can't you have to work in the shop. Is that fair?" He was taking all of this as a joke...

Alba grinned. She could agree with taking the risk; she was fairly confident she could win a battle of wits. "Alright, fine." she crossed her arms and listened.

"Forewards I am heavy, but backwards I am not." Alba scratched her chin in thought. She closed her eyes, so she didn't notice the exasperated expression of the purple haired woman and the smugness of the blonde man.

After a short time she seemed struck by and idea and said, "Gravity!" The man shook his head and Alba looked flustered. Dang, she thought, I've lost. "No way." she said, hoping he was just joking with her.

"The answer is 'Ton'." he said simply, closing his fan. Alba scowled.

"Well f***." she said under her breath so that no one could hear her. Knowing she had lost, Alba threw up her hands in a motion of surrender. "Fine, get me a gigai and a broom then." She seemed mildly upset, but the man just smiled, easygoing, and went into the back.

A short time later, Alba was in her new gigai, sweeping the shop to get used to it plus pay for it. This would all work out for the better, she figured; she could get them to trust her this way. The Arrancar mumbled as she cleaned, flustered that she hadn't been able to get the riddle correct. With no mask, no hollow hole, and no purple dots on her face, Alba felt a little strange. It was odd to have so many things about her missing. However, she did find that the simple oversized black hoodie, situated over a bright blue shirt, and jeans she had been provided with were very comfortable. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad... Alba sighed as she continued to sweep, grumbling and waiting for the other arrivals the hat-man had hinted at.

Pokemon:

Species: Flareon

Nickname: Awen (Muse)

Personality:
Awen is a sweet Pokemon, though mostly only to Howell. She is skittish around others, but she will be friendly once they’ve warmed up to her a bit. She simply needs to understand that someone else can be trusted before she’ll be nice to them. Toward Howl, she is extremely loving, like a doting daughter or best friend. She will snuggle against him and sit by him, or sometimes jump up on his back and look at whatever he’s drawing. Awen would rather not be petted by anyone she hasn’t known for a long while; she’s starting to age and doesn’t see too well, so she identifies people by their voices and smells. It’s best that they talk to her when trying to interact with her. Awen is also pretty intelligent, though it’s hard to tell such. She understands everything Howell says, it seems, as well as whatever other people are saying. Of course, she can’t comment on it. She’s well-trained and well-bred (it would seem) and has a healthy sense of gratitude and fear.

Moveset: Tackle, Quick Attack, Bite, Endure, Wish, Ember, Flamethrower, Leer. Note: Awen is specifically restrained from using her fire-type attacks while on board a ship. Unless the situation is dire, or only a very small fire is required, Awen will never use a fire-type attack—she’s been well-trained against it after the accident.

I. Love. These. Kinds. of. RPGs. Thank you!

And well, I hastenned to make this, as you can see, the more you read, the lesser the quality, so I'll go back and fix that up in the mornin' its nearing five AM now, and I've yet to sleep. So here it is, and I do not like widescreen monitors, it makes things look very short but then you read the same line for eons...Well here it is, hope its acceptable, if not, I understand and eitherway, I'm coming back to edit, I'm never happy until my writing parallel's Tolkien or any of the scholarly writers...

Name: Gregory “The Chef” Swanson
Age: thirty-seven (37)
Gender: Male
Hometown/Area: Lived in a Mountaineer/Miner encampment and worker’s settlement near the base of Mt. Moon.

Appearance: In considering height, Gregory Swanson stands at about six feet, three inches; a towering height enough to intimidate people. When Gregory stands, a proud luster glows about him, almost giving him a sparkling appearance. Along with Greg’s height, comes a mountain of muscle, adding to his intimidating factor. Greg is very physical in what he does, and all his muscles are proof. He will flex any muscle he can when in the audience of another, as he prides himself with his muscular feature. With the mass of muscle on his body, one would think his weight considerably large, and that he would be an anchor more than a floatie. He however is a swimmer and carries himself with little strain from the cruel force of gravity. Though worrying about the affect of gravity on him is his least concern. Being a connoisseur of anything that can be boiled, broiled, or brewed; he has the taste for many delicacies.

Greg makes the perfect tank, in that is body makes an excellent shield of flesh. With his muscular tone, he can repel most any items that do not have a blade attached. He is very hard to take down, but as the saying goes “The larger they are, the harder they fall.” Harder in the sense of difficulty, and once he’s down, he’s down. His skin is very rough, and rugged, covered in many different patterned scars and calices from his earlier years at the Mine. Seeing him with the scars and hardy skin also adds to the intimidation he can portray. His skin tone is that of a rather dark Caucasian, tanned from the sun, “the color of a working man.”

Greg’s face, much like his body, has been hardened by his work and build. His face is proportionate, with only a slightly larger jaw, due to a dislocation in his younger years. He is not clean shaven either, having slight stubble across his upper neck, chin, and cheeks. His chin is square, and he has a large nose due to the bridge of his nose. His ears are open-lobed, one being infected due to a rough piercing. This infection has made his left ear slightly disfigured. He has no earring as it only makes him uncomfortable.

His hair is rugged and short, and sucks up the light around it. It is unwashed, and greasy. The only glint of light from his hair is due to the large amount of grease that is in his hair. This is not proof of poor hygiene but rather lack of proper washing technology. He is a dark brunette; getting lighter the further away the hair is to the scalp. For eye color, his eyes are grey in tone, always adding a droopy appearance to his looks. His hairstyle is roughly cut making him look like a Pauper.

For Attire, Greg is most always shirtless, showing off his massive pectorals. He has blue cloth pants, with pockets, and a white sash. He has black leather shoes on his feet. Around his back he harnesses a sledge Hammer, which the maul is usually covered in a white thin cloth.

Personality: Contrary to Greg’s appearance, he is quite the philosopher; often rambling on about random, irrelevant topics to anyone who listens. He is open-minded and calm, rarely ever becoming emotional toward anyone or anything. He sees the world as a giant sphere and hopes to explore and inspect all minerals Mother Earth bestows. Since much negotiation happen in his mess hall, he has become the guru of diplomacy among shipmates, beneath the knowledge of the higher-ups. Either he settles things with his strange philosophies, forcing taste tests of his newest concoctions, or the classic Beer Brawling Arm wrestling championship, in which he knows no equal. Often diplomatic solutions with Greg are kitchen duty for the culprit. Rewards of this are a taste of the Captain’s dinner; though that is more for poison testing.

Greg prefers the observer role, and will not engage in any fight unless he is heavily provoked. Due to his intimidating nature, people rarely provoke him. When he is provoked, he mostly looses all his senses and enters a berserker role, where only destruction, both friendly and foe, awake in his path.

In socializing, people think Greg to be an introvert, due to his quiet observant nature, until they become acquainted with him. He is an extrovert, and loves to ramble to many people he can. He is never shy, and loves to flex off his muscles and sparkle to people around him. He is optimistic, always looking for the one hundred and fifty percent victories. When it comes to a contest of strength, Greg is very stubborn and won’t back down to any challenge, unless he fears for the safety of the challenger, for he does not hold back very well.

Cooking is Greg’s stress reliever and he often hums while he brews his concoctions. He enters trances when he cooks sometimes, making him loose track of his surroundings, the world around him.

History: Gregory, all his life, with regards to more recent years, has lived under the shadow of Mt. Moon, of the Kanto region. The infamous mountain said to have had a meteor crash into it. He, and his family have always been one of the mountaineers, and specifically miners of the rich ores Mt. Moon provided. The mountain was most his life, and he coexisted, living with the small community of miners and mountaineers at the base of this sacred mountain. Mt. Moon had a unique ore within it, rumored to be remains of the meteor the crashed into the mountain long ago. This made harvests of ore within very profitable. Gregory was only that of the working man, so did not fully share the wealth of his hard labors. Time in the mountains made him hardy.

His life was mostly routine, nothing extraordinary happened within the mountain. A few cave-ins, rockslides, and other mountain dangers occurred, always taking a few unfortunate souls, but beyond that, routine filled Gregory’s life since he came of age to work in the mines. He was the son of a prospector, and enjoyed every minute of it. Gregory was of the working class, a pauper in wealth. His class was rigid, and thus he remained that of a servant, working to provide the greater wealth of ‘investors.’ Gregory always had the hardest responsibilities with his family as well, for he was the eldest of five - having a brother and three sisters.

Much of Gregory’s childhood was being trained to worship the shadow of Mount Moon, as he would gather from her fine rock-walls. Luckily he was born to some privilege in the Miner’s camp, as his father was an esteemed prospector of the camp. He wasn’t child doomed to follow the ‘disposable’ miner’s route. He was gifted into the path of becoming a scholar of the mountain. He had to learn many ores, methods of retrieval, determining the real to the counterfeit, forging processes with the earthen metals and much more surrounding the essence of the mountain.

He was the prospector’s son, and a prospector would be his career. Gregory in his childhood would remain on the outside of the Mountain, and when nights came, he always looked up, and wondered about the stars, this was the start to his curiosity of Astronomy. At the age of eight, Gregory first entered the mines. His role at start was that of a messenger, an errand boy. He sprinted throughout the corridors from dawn until the dinner bells carrying words and water between each of the miners. His role was vital to the communication and safety, even though at his young age he did not understand much of its importance. As he spent time as a messenger, his curiosity grew to what was beyond the darkened corners of the caves. Areas such as that were forbidden to him, and only those who had Pokémon under their employ were allowed to venture into the darkness.

His job as a gopher lasted until the age of fourteen, when Gregory started building the strength of a man. Along with his lessons in prospecting, he was taught in the field as well, learning the process and daily workout routines of extracting ore. His body began to transfer from a young boy’s to a strong man’s during this time within the mines. His life continued on this pace until a cool summer evening, when Gregory was of the age sixteen.

At the age of sixteen, Greg’s routine became forever disoriented as both tragedy and the extraordinary occurred within his Camp. The tragedy being his father passed away in a mining accident, the extraordinary: a curious visitor. The visitor: a passenger to the usual merchant caravans that had the Mining Camp as one of their destinations. This passenger was daughter to one of the merchants, Gregory’s first love.

Synthia Ourten, fourteen at the time, had finally convinced her father to take her travelling with him. She was the merchant’s eldest daughter, and not shy to speak her mind, she was a rare and energetic spark into Greg’s life, which interested him greatly. The merchant who contracted with the Swanson family was none other than Synthia’s father, Master Ednic Ourten.

Ednic Ourten came to visit the Shoppe of Gregory’s father’s prospecting business, with him a new face to the village, his daughter. Gregory, the eldest son, and now the caretaker of the Swanson business, was manning the shop, wiping off the high counters when they arrived.
This began a series of courting, or well, Greg admiring from afar Synthia, the very few times she came. She became his muse of exploration, and that summer was the first time he left the mine. He managed to get the merchant to get him to go to the settlement where the merchant lived, and undertake an apprenticeship as the metalsmith there. Having the expert knowledge of the prospector, and much knowledge of the earthen goods that the earth produced, he was an adept candidate.

The settlement he arrived to, would be the future location of Cerulean City. There he courted with Synthia, learned more traits of smithing, and began to see nature touched by the sun. He admired the beauty, and the glistening plants that bathed the sunlight. Greg also began to learn the arts of fishing. Though the summer ended and he needed to return the mines. Luckily in the summer Synthia accepted his courting, and the two were to be married. She moved with him to the mining camp; which there he brought knowledge of his smith career.
As summer came to an end, Greg and Synthia found a new member to their ‘family.’ That was a baby kangaskhan. How it was abandoned remained a mystery to Gregory, he assumed it was because the kangaroo pokemon was a runt, but he took it in, and the two raised it as their own. Greg was more the mother to the kangaroo, as Synthia often took long trips to travel between the settlements. He had it in his pouch of the smith’s apron as he worked and mined, the kangaskhan thus grew more resilient to flames.

At the age of 20, Synthia was with child, and Greg did not want his family to live in the mines, so with all the money he could muster, he took his family on a merchant caravan to the southeast. Where he finally settled down on a coastal town. In this town he worked as a docksmen carrying crates to and fro, due to his huge size and physique, people gave him automatic respect seeing him. About this time, he moved up in the hierarchy of jobs, and soon worked at a tavern, and learned for the first time how much he really enjoyed cooking. He then became the chef of that tavern, which coincidentally had him as the top dog of the tavern. His wife handled business affairs as Synthia knew much from the merchant guilds.

By fortune one day, Greg was found by the crew of the Voracious Curiosity, they enjoyed his cooking meals very much, and he was accepted into the ranks. It was a hard decision but he needed money, so he kissed his wife goodbye and his babe, and took his kangaroo friend with him. He joined years before the flood, at the age of 23, the flood happened 4 years later, which has him worry about his family back at home as he has not had chance to visit them.

Skills: He has no expert mastery of combat, making his style more ‘brute’ like, though he can fight, and he can swing an axe, hard. He knows a lot about prospecting, and many things with the magic stones or metals. He has exceptional taste and strong resilience to many dull poisons. He knows much random facts in philosophy, and astronomy. He also knows much about what the Earth gives making him a decent herbalist.

Ship: The Voracious Curiosity
Job: Cook/Quartermaster (The cook basically IS the Quartermaster)
Other: He loves to box. Yvon is an excellent boxing partner. He also loves to dig, and bury, and prospect, and basically anything to do with the cold earthen lands. Also, people do not refer to him as Greg, The call him Chef, or Master Swanson. Only the closest of friends call him Greg, and he makes sure of that it stays that way.

Pokemon:
Species: Kangaskhan
Nickname: Yvon “Yev-ahn”
Gender: Male
Description:

Personality: Yvon is lazy and would rather sleep all day then work, though Greg has Yvon working has the chef’s assistant, much to Yvon’s annoyance. Yvon also has a greedy eye for anything that shines, and has often gained the five-finger sweep on crewmember’s items. If there is one thing Yvon likes to do, it is complain, and he rather would punch something as his diplomacy. He’s very lackadaisical, and lethargic.

Yvon doesn’t really move around much, and is always seen sleeping with a pile of treasures, or food by him. He’s not really caring of others, very selfish, and it seems the only person he respects is Gregory. Though if one is to beat Yvon in a fight, Yvon might hold respect for that person. Yvon is the typical lazy thug, where only greed and fighting perk his interest.

Yokujin, Ashi:

Karakura High School - Gymnasium 12:17 PM :

Winter and cold, always, always mixed together for the girl named Foot: Ashi Yokujin. Ashi, also known as foot to some, hated the frigid air of winter; she preferred spring and summer vacation. Today was different however, for winter, despite the constant flurries of snow; it was calm, and warming at the least. The snow was still thick, around five inches, no thanks to yestermorning’s blizzard. Usually Ashi could not tolerate the soft crystal white snow that was carelessly composing itself on top of the frozen earthen floor, however, today, she did not mind it. In truth, this snow actually brightened up her day. Literally as well in a sense that the snow glowed radiated with the Sun’s reflection, occasionally having Ash’s eyes wince when looking downward.

This is going to be an interesting--fun Saturday, was a thought that periodically entered Ashi’s mind; she was in a good mood. Ashi had on her school’s physical education outfit, the bloomer-like red shorts, and the V-neck Karakura School logoed T-shirt. She balanced herself amongst a group of girls stretching her limbs. Like the other girls huddled in preparation, today was the indoor fitness test for Ashi’s class, and Ashi was one of the first to attempt the dreaded suicides which, for indoor pacing, was the worst of the tasks to come. Unlike many of the girls, Ashi had a calm face, she had a worried look, however, an outside force made her simply happy, she could not put her finger to it, but today she felt wondrous.

The indoor gymnasium was large; it usually was only reserved for those who practiced gymnastics and Kido, however today was the annual winter physical test. The day was still strong, golden light occasionally was seen basking lazily over the glazed hard-wood blocks, illuminating the many patters on the floor. For this winter day, the light seemed to brighten many people’s spirits. It was as if something of another being had entered this town and gave each person grand pleasures. Despite this being a very enjoyable, many faces showed worry and fret. The girls that were here had all passed their physicals the schools gave, but today was where they were tested on physical feat. As girls formed their little gossiping groups, partnerships in stretching, or counseling aide, or a congratulatory party, the instructors called the groups of girls up in reverse alphabetically. Ashi, having her last name start with Y was on deck, she had slight worry on her, but seeing as the foreign exchange student, Illyasviel von Zeinzbern, a short and stubby girl who looked no older then a nine year old, pass the test well over the borderline, she had a prideful cocky confidence in doing it. Ashi kept herself slightly isolated from many of the girls stretching, trying to focus her sully-filled mind, breathing slowly. The instructor began to call, for Ashi’s group of girls to go up and do the suicides. Her name was absent until her name was addressed – the second time.

“Yokujin, Ashi! Yokujin!? Miss Yokujin?!”

Her thought was broken, with a long yawning stretch with her arms held up high, she began to walk towards the instructors and the given space to where the girls were doing the suicides, as she walked, a few whistles of on looking ‘gentlemen’ howled past her as she calmly yet nervously walked towards the group doing last minute stretches before they embarked on the suicides. She gave a glance to the male students, with a small smirk, although the attention was negative, she did not care, she did not let anything like that get to her, in all, she was the “ Afurodite de Shahou ” or so her male fan club and ‘suitors’ proclaimed. ( Afurodite de Shahou translates to Aphrodite of Archery

“Coming!”

Boasted Ashi, as she quickened her pace waving into the air to get the instructor’s attention, Ashi was ready for this feat. She arrived with the group, and did last minute stretches with the other five girls with her. The instructor gave them instructions and raised his hand, whistle in mouth. The instructor dropped his hand and blew hard, the girls were off. Seconds turned to minutes, minutes into hours. Muscles working hard, the body moving; Ashi took off fast and remained in constant pace along with two other leading girls. She was slow on the drop down, push up, stand up, turn moves, but running wise she excelled. A minute went by, sweat began to form, two minutes, breath began to harden, adrenaline pumping, three minutes, Ashi grew into a frenzy of running, her body hitting hard and her mind unfocused… Five minutes came, the instructor blew the whistle as the last, and chubbiest girl finished.

“I’ll send my congrats to the five of you, even you, Mistique… Anyway—“

The instructor’s voice faded away, Ashi’s mind, overheating. She hurled over gasping for air, suicides were truly hell. Putting her hand over her mouth, Ashi coughed, attempting to catch her breath. She did one mistake by coming to a complete stop rather then doing a warm down, her internal organs felt like the crashed.

“— Miss Yokujin, are you alright? Miss Yokujin?”

Ashi look a deep breath in a shuttering matter, as she raised her head, brushing her hair with her palm. She overdid herself in the beginning, but she survived the dark evil suicides. Her breath was still stuttering, so the instructor got her “A-Ok” response though eye contact. The instructor wrote notes down on his clipboard and dismissed the girls to await their next task. He stepped away calling for the next group. Ashi walked slowly, slightly off balance back to a group of girls, some avoided her in fear of the new creation of BO that Ashi condoned; although it was not bad at all, sweat was obvious on Ashi’s suit though.

“Ashi, you have achieved victory over bequeathing those tenanting suicides a righteous blow. I implore you for your efforts.”

A young blond girl, wearing the same attire as Ashi appeared, she was more masculine in her psyche, not caring for her outward appearance, but she still had a natural beauty. Her short blond hair was tied in a blue ribbon making her hair appear in the bun style.

“Hey Arturia, you won’t be so straight faced when you try them, gosh, I’m still trying to catch my breath.”

“Ah yes, it could be though you are out of breath?”

“ Well I know I am in more shape then you, just because you know western and eastern sword fighting does not give you an edge in agility.”

“Are you taking this as a challenge?”

Both girls laughed, then sighed, Arturia was serious.

“…um, no Arturia…”

“well, here is a towel for you to wipe with.”

“…thanks?”

Arturia threw a medium sized towel over Ashi’s head, covering her, Ashi took the towel and thrusted it of her face. She rubed the towel over her face, and decided, clearing some of the sweat. She wrapped the towel up in a funnel like way, and hung it around her shoulders. Ashi sighed, her breath was getting better.

“Eck, I am all sticky! Arturia-chan, do you know when the next tests are?”

“Not for awhile, so I guess we could meditate in waiting, there’s still the other one hundred and thirty seven of us, boys included after us girls, and I myself have a long time to wait, for I happen to have my name existing towards the middle of the alphabet, when you were at the ending, thus you were the second group to go, I tell you though I am quite surprised at your performance, your face made me be amused, I got it all on this camera, this new website phenomenon called Youtube will surely be delighted to see it I guess.”

“…your kidding right?”

“Most definitely.”

“…you have to work on your sense of humor….”

Ashi sighed and shook her bottom of her shirt, revealing her belly button for a split second in which one of her fan club witnessed, Ashi ignored his ‘whoos’”

“Well I guess I might hit the showers, I do not want to be …sticky the rest of today.”

“Very well, I will await for you here.”

“Uh…Thanks?”

“You are most welcome.”

Ashi, sighed with a slight roll of the head as she went towards her schoolbag. As she went to pick it up to take it with her to the showerroom, she noticed that the cell phone Urahara gave her had a blinking light, someone had texted her. It was from Uruhara.

“Uruhara-Sama? …He never has called…?”

{---Ashi read the text note.

Hi Ashi-chan

Urgent business at shop

Need ya

Details will be explained there

Yoruich-Sensai will be here too.--}

Ashi held a shocked look an her face, her arm releasing the grasp of the phone almost loosing it out of her palm if she did not regrasp it. This phone was expensive, Ashi assumed, and would not loose a gift from her employer, and respected figure who she ‘worshiped’ above all else with exception to God. Arturia noticed Ashi’s shock. Yoruichi-Sensai had assisted Ashi in spiritual training, as well Ashi loved to play with Yoruichi-Sensai’s talking black cat, who was very wise. (Yoruichi played a few tricks of amusement on ashie with her cat form).

“Saw those currie breads? Hunger is the worst enemy, remember that.”

“…yeah…um, Art-chan, I--I have to go--F-Family emergency…Can you cover?”

“Well, I do think ditching out on your sworn duty is awefully wrong, I can not support this, however, you are a fair maiden as myself, and I know you will only retreat the battlefield if something dangerous occurred, so yes, quite possibly, yes I will help assist you in coverage. Anyway I will say my farewells Ashi-san.”

“…thanks…”

Ashi closed her flip phone, and shoved it into her bag. She hastily snuck out of the Gym and started darting towards the Uruhara shop, her place of business for around a year and a half. Uruhara was her employer; it was fate that she walked into a giant shadowy wall later to be known as Tessai. And Ashi ran. Despite the tiredness of her muscles, and her current dress, which attracted many stares from walkers, she ran hard, thankfully hitching a bus in the process. She quickly got off the bus and ran the extra few blocks that was from the nearest bus station to Uruhara’s shop. There it was, only the door was knocked down, and chaos and commotion was heard within the shop, she did not reckonize any of the fellow employees’ voiced in the mess however. What she heard was some struggling, and possibly explosives. She got an eye on a few things. The people were all humanoid, but some had blurry faces, as well had weird black kimonoes, were they the Shinigami, her master, Uruhara had told her about? The few that had clear faces looked human, but they stood and watched as a faceless figure with weird clothing, that was white, fended off a, what seemed to be a blond girl, shinigami. One step into the yard and her presence was noticed. Her reitsu was strong, when provoked, but often very weak, she let it unconsciously loose. She could not sense the Reitsu though.

I tried to make her reasonable, and I hope the explanation for a Gallade's presence is reasonable. If not, I can edit that. Also, I'll be editing this in a moment to include the RP snippet.

Name: Elizabeth Jonys (any nickname referring to her name other than Jon, Jonys, or Eli will result in an attempt on the person's life)
Age: 24
Sex: Female
Hometown/Area: Stonewall, Hoenn
Appearance: Probably the most average sort of person one can find, Elizabeth has long, dirty blonde hair that she keep out of the way in a tight braid at all times. Her eyes are a light steel blue, but tend to darken to an almost blackish blue-green when she's particularly angry. Her face in general is slightly wolfish in appearance, with a roman nose, high cheek bones, and a stern jaw and brow. Her skin is surprisingly light and clear for someone of the desert region, though she does have a few freckles from sun exposure and wind damage. She is strong enough for someone of her 5'5", and can at least push her weight around a little on deck. Her arms, though thin, are well muscled from practice bow-hunting and staff-fighting. She moves with refined steps and quick reflexes, and is usually fairly light on her feet when she needs to be. She's fairly thin, even though she eats heartily enough and drinks enough tea to drown a Rapidash, and though she's not the lightest person around, she can handle herself well above ground, namely in the ship's rigging.

She most often wears a dark brown turtleneck with elbow-length sleeves, lightly colored, well-insulated riding breeches with pockets hand-sewn in convenient locations, and men's leather riding boots that come up to her knees. These boots are a dark, near-black color, dyed such because of the resin she rubbed into them to make them completely waterproof. Though her clothing seems rather heavy, it's well-insulated against both heat and cold, and keeps her dry during storms. When she gets too warm for even her, though, she will wear a thin, sleeveless brown shirt made of cotton. She almost always wears a leather harness on her person, which she hooks to Firefly's own harness when they have to go out flying. It has multiple gadgets and gizmos attached, including a small eyeglass, a water-proof leather bag with herbs for her tea, a large gourd constantly filled with drinkable water (some believe it to really be rice wine), her knife, and bags of money, gunpowder, etc. She always keeps a pair of beat-up goggles around her neck, and wears them when she flies or when a storm is brewing, as they keep her vision clear from both wind and rain.

Personality: Elizabeth is a rather strange character, shrewd and cunning as well as gentle and kind. Her personality seems to shift depending on who she's around, and so no one believes they've seen the real her. She is very open-minded about many things, and believes that the past is the past, you can't do much about it. However, she's a bit ahead of her time in that she believes that everyone is equal, and nobody should have more rights than another person without both party's consent. Though she generally seems rather abrasive, those who know her find that she's truly a devoted and loyal friend, never meaning any person harm unless they do her or her comrades serious harm, whether physically, spiritually, emotionally, or mentally. She does her best in any job that she's given, and if given the supplies and a fair amount of time, she can do just about anything she sets her mind to.

She's very emotionally attached to her pokemon, trusting in them more than any other beings on the planet, and treats them, as dear, close friends or family rather than pets, tools, or even as things to be ordered around. They each have the same rights, feelings, and even personalities as humans do, and have an understanding of the natural world that humans have slowly been losing over the years. Since she's thought like this since childhood, she's developed not only a very commanding personality, but a firm confidence in herself and her abilities to do whatever must be done.

History: Elizabeth was born to a pair of fairly well-off landholders near where Verdanturf would one day be built, where work was not quite hard and not quite easy. Her family raised crops for the town, and thanks to the fertile soil there was usually plenty to eat, though when winters came they depended more on their food stores, Magikarp caught from the pond, and on one person's Taillow stock. Elizabeth's childhood was fairly normal for someone her age, but though she had several friends and plenty of pokemon to play with, she seemed restless. The girl would often wander off for hours at a time when there was no work to be done and would be found later playing in the forest to the west, the cave to the north, or even once as far as the river to the east. This encounter also included a wandering group from far to the north, that apparently lived in the desert. They had several strange pokemon with them, one of which a Flygon that 7-year-old Elizabeth instantly fell in love with. While the owners weren't watching, the girl climbed aboard the creature's back and had to hold on for dear life as the creature started, taking on into the air in response to the stranger upon its back. After the first few moments of terror, the girl relaxed as she found that she could stay aboard the creature's back without hanging on so tightly, and at its master's call the pair returned to the little encampment by the river. The girl tumbled to the ground in a fit of giggled and laughter, hair tousled and eyes watering from the speed of the wind, and while her parents gave her a stern talking to afterward about pokemon that she didn't know, the Flygon's owner gave her a pair of rather beaten-up goggles for her use, telling her that once she was bigger, she'd be welcome to visit them in their desert home.

A few days later, after trades for food, tools, and other supplies, the group left, taking their strange desert-dwelling pokemon with them. The girl vowed that she'd become just as amazing as them, and would travel to see them when she was older. For a while after that she continued to wander in her free time, most often in the direction the traveller's had said they were from, but slowly began to stay closer and closer to home. When she was 16, her neighbor proposed to her. The man was kind, friendly, and fairly wise, but he was almost as old as her own parents, and she thought of him as an uncle. Her parents accepted the offer, despite their daughters' feelings on the matter, and two weeks before the marriage date, she remembered her promise to herself. While the rest of the small village was sleeping, the girl packed a sack with clothes, food, and a knife, strapped it to her back, and snuck away. It took her a few weeks to reach the edge of the desert, and finally she wondered how she was supposed to find the group amidst the veritable land-sea, with storms constantly brewing across the land. She camped in a small cave for a few days, waiting for the weather to let up a bit, and used the time to think about what she was doing and how she'd find the desert travelers.

She found that at night, the storms seemed to settle to cold winds, and after bundling herself up began traveling by night. After only a couple more days, the girl was lost amidst the sands, her food supplies were low, and her water was almost gone. Occasionally she'd catch a glimpse of a pokemon, but was never fast enough to catch one or she was forced to hide from it. This gave her plenty of time to realize that she'd planned very poorly, but determination kept her going forward. She was thin and very dehydrated by the time she finally caught a glimpse of the desert-dwellers, and last-minute reason told her that she should make sure who they were before approaching them. After all, it was a big desert. People intending harm to others could be out here. Her days of being alone and hungry had made her more wary and snapped her from her childhood belief that nothing bad could happen, and that everything was easy. The next day, she bundled herself up and followed the group as they traveled, the goggles that the Flygon's master had given her keeping her eyes protected and her vision clear from the storm. At one point, she believed that she'd actually lost the group, but as she rounded an outcropping of stone, she felt a knife against her back and an arm around her throat. They had apparently known that she'd been following them, and wanted to know who she was. Elizabeth was silent for a few moments, looking at the other members of the group that had now surrounded her, and recognized a few of the pokemon they had with them, including the flygon that had taken her for the ride of her life when she was little. Grinning broadly behind her scarf, the girl re-introduced herself, and recounted the incident that had thrilled her so. One of the travelers had stepped forward, recognizing her goggles as the old pair he'd given away, and she explained her situation and that she was taking him up on his invitation.

After that day, Elizabeth was a veritable part of their group. She was taught how to live in the desert, which weapons and tools were best to use for each job, and was put through the same daily ritual as the other children in their group. Within the first week she killed a sandshrew, their primary meat source, and though she only ate a small share of the meat herself, she made herself breeches that still kept her much cooler and more protected than the ragged cotton ones that she'd brought along. She was a fast learner, and soon adapted to life in the desert, and when she was twenty she earned herself a life-long friend in the flygon mount left behind when her mentor died. The pokemon still had many years left, and the man did not have any children to inherit it, so the girl claimed it for her own, and it didn't seem to mind. From then on she acted as the scout for the group, and one day saw a group of travelers struggling through the sandstorm much as she had long ago. Having slightly more pity on them than her hardened friends, the girl landed and confronted them directly, asking them who they were and what they wanted. After a moment, the girl and group recognized each other- it was her family. They'd left their home after Team Aqua had arrived, and suspected that their daughter had fled here. They had come to find her and tell her what had happened, and see if perhaps they could find sanctuary with her. She could not give them any answers, and instead helped them set up camp until she could.

After a few days' negotiating, Elizabeth convinced her friends to accept the townspeople who had fled, and to help them the way they'd helped her. Several weeks passed, and Elizabeth decided that she wanted to go see what was happening in the world. Several of the younger kids having found trapinch and numel that could be handy beasts of burden, Elizabeth once again left home, this time taking her flygon friend with her, and this time to investigate who these people really were. After fleeing from Aqua grunts trying to recruit her or take her flygon, the girl sneaked into a township and stole a single pokeball from a careless Aqua scientist. She'd hoped that it was empty, but instead found that it contained a particularly irritable kirlia. Dodging attacks had her on her toes for about twenty minutes until she could explain to the pokemon what was going on, as well as apologize profusely. The creature finally stopped as she explained, asking questions left and right about who she was and where she lived, before it finally understood what it had evidently been a part of, whether its partner was unwilling or not. Elizabeth took the pokeball back regardless, leaving the pokemon to do as he pleased, and found that she'd gained a new friend for herself. The humanoid pokemon could travel with her in towns much easier than her draconian mount, and agreed to help her in her cause. Elizabeth began spending more and more time away from the desert, always finding places to hide the flygon, now named Firefly, and listening for rumors or information about the Aqua invaders.

One of her excursions led her to a small bay where she found a ship moored in the harbor. Firefly remained in the forest, hiding just within a safe distance to provide a quick getaway, while Elizabeth and the kirlia got as close as they could. Seeing no one aboard, they swam out to see who the ship belonged to and what they may have had aboard. While investigating, the kirlia found probably the most advanced doorway the girl had ever seen. While fiddling to get it open, the pokemon found a small, bright blue stone that looked as though it had been dropped and not noticed. As he picked it up to investigate, though, a glowing light filled the hallway and Elizabeth had to stifle a small scream as the small pokemon was transformed into something much larger and even more human-like. The stone having vanished, the pokemon looked at himself for a moment before voicing his thoughts quite clearly. He didn't know what she'd done, but he wished that she hadn't. The two argued for a bit, Elizabeth saying that she hadn't done anything, the pokemon saying that she had, until they both agreed to try to figure out exactly what he was now. Seeming to forget where they were, they stayed aboard the ship to attempt this, and before long they heard voices and realized that the crew had returned. Elizabeth didn't panic, merely muttered an annoyed curse and stood up, running up the stairs with the pokemon close behind and climbing the rigging as fast as she could. The crew followed, most of them cursing at her, but stopped as she let out a loud whistle and Firefly burst from the trees at the shore and grabbed both her and the kirlia-turned-something-else. A gunshot startled the flygon, however, and as it was unused to the added weight of the new pokemon, it tumbled into the sand at the shore where more of the crew was waiting.

And so Elizabeth met the crew of the Voracious Curiosity, and after a few hours reasoning, managed to get herself positioned as a member of the crew. She has not since been able to get back to her family in the desert, but has heard rumors that they're doing quite well for themselves. Since then, she's proved herself to be a reliable, trustworthy, and hard-working member of the crew that more often does a job herself than asks someone else to do it.

Re: [Open RP] On The Battlefield... [Gier]
BladeKuroda said:
"Ack, nothing like snacking on some zombies hm?"

Jokar couldn't help but chuckle a bit at that, despite the nasty flavor. "You should try a bite sometime! It tastes just like mother's home cooking!" he laughed, spitting out some residual squick before attacking a couple more. He noticed the swell of magic, the base of his broken horn tingling a bit as a strange after-effect, and shook his head a bit as he noticed the fireballs. Well that'll certainly be useful, he thought to himself.

A familiar beep and flutter of wings, followed by the slightest click in his collar, signaled the return of his little Lodica. Soon after, a pair of varani weaved their way through the zombies with multiple large bags tied to their sides. They crawled up onto Jokar's back, one (a radio-mod) playing a soft, rather silly song that it had recorded. The effect made the scenario of a zombie horde seem ridiculously funny, at least to the old man, and he laughed for a moment before smashing another of the undead. "Alright, you two, it's good to see you!"

The two varani beeped in response, and began taking smaller bags out of the large ones, each of the bags with what looked like a fuse. I'll have to thank Isa'ik for making these for me before she left last! the Chimaera thought, laughing before one of the varani lit a small bag on fire, tossing it at a small grouping of zombie and watching as it created a minor explosion. The zombie it hit was now headless, but they'd need a lot of these gunpowder-grenades to make much more of an impact.

Pokemon:

Species: Flygon
Nickname: FireFly
Personality: Firefly is a strange, but amicable compaion that isn't much afraid of anything, but does not like anyone on his back save for Elizabeth or Ral, and will either take off and try to buck any other rider off, or will jump to the side and cause said person to fall flat on their face. He doesn't generally like to fight, though, preferring to run and hide or confuse his opponents with speed rather than fight them himself. He'd never intentionally harm anyone, and though it does occasionally happen, he always apologizes afterward, whether by giving the person a dragon hug, finding them something tasty to eat, or just nuzzling them. He mostly acts like a loyal pet towards Elizabeth, but he's really quite intelligent and can understand just about everything that's going on. He's just clumsy and rather nervous at being surrounded by so much water all the time.
Moveset: Dragon Dance, Yawn, Screech, Sandstorm, Bite, Dragonbreath, Gust, Sand Tomb

Species: Gallade (explained in history)
Nickname: Ral
Personality: Ral is an interesting character, with almost as many quirks as Elizabeth. He often stares off into space thinking about lord-knows-what, but is an excellent fighter and a loyal companion to those who earn his respect. He is a gentleman to a T, but he can be a bit snobby when he's around people he doesn't like. He's often conflicted about having left his partner, often wondering if the man was forced to become part of such a terrible plot, but then his common sense kicks in and tells him that if that were so, Elizabeth would most likely have never found him. He hates Aqua with a passion, and though he's content with his current lot in life, wants dearly to make them pay and try to help right the the world. He treats his friends with all the kindness that he can, though he often makes it rather awkward by overdoing courtesy or etiquette.
Moveset: Teleport, Swords Dance, Feint, Protect, Dream Eater, Leaf Blade, Psycho Cut, Fury Cutter

Handy?

It's that one guy

Yup, fulfills my requirements nicely. Accepted, Welcome Aboard.

I. Love. These. Kinds. of. RPGs.

Sex: Male

((Might add more, feels unfinished :/))

History: ((will embellish onto later, just getting basics)) Gregory, all his life, with regards to more recent years, has lived under the shadow of Mt.

His class was rigid, and thus he remained that of a servant, working to provide the greater wealth of ‘investors.’ Gregory always had the hardest responsibilities with his family as well, for he was the eldest of five. Having a brother and four three sisters.

Much of Gregory’s childhood was being trained to worship the shadow of Mount Moon, as he would till her fine rock-walls. Luckily he was born to some privilege in the Miner’s camp, as his father was an esteemed prospector of the camp. He wasn’t child doomed to follow the ‘disposable’ miner’s path; where the ‘investors’ could afford a few ‘misfortunes.’ He was gifted into the path of becoming a scholar of the mountain. Learning the many ores, methods of retrieval, what was real and counterfeit, forging processes with the earthen metals; he had to learn the very essence of the mountain.

He was the prospector’s son, and a prospector would be his career. Gregory in his childhood would remain on the outside of the Mountain, and when nights came, he always looked up, and wondered about the stars, and what else was out there in the world. It was not till the age of eight when Gregory first entered the mines as a messenger to carry things between the many miners. Often he stumbled through the dark corridors carrying buckets and buckets of water. Though he was forbidden to enter many caverns as Pokemon dwelled within this mountain. The miners were the invaders, even though they barely scrapped on an income. The pokemon of the mountain’s interior were very hostile toward the miners.
At the age of fourteen, Gregory started to learn the process of extracting the ore from the cold stone. His physique kept growing as he spent longer days within the mine. Gregory’s life in the mine was very routine until one day, a cool summer evening, when Gregory was of the age seventeen.

When Greg was seventeen, something intruded upon the routine of being a miner. That thing was the alluring merchant’s daughter Synthia who had travelled with her father to the base of the mountain. At first glance Greg, who was out enjoying the cold breeze sneaking a break from the mine, fell in love.

Job: Cook
Other: He loves to box. Yvon is an excellent boxing partner. He also loves to dig, and bury, and prospect, and basically anything to do with the cold earthen lands. Also, people do not refer to him as Greg, The call him Chef, or Master Swanson. Only the closest of friends call him Greg, and he makes sure of that it stays that way.

Pokemon:

Species: Kangaskhan
Nickname: Yvon “Yev-ahn”

Yeah, this is Accepted also, welcome aboard.

Her eyes are a light steel blue, but tend to darken to an almost blackish blue-green. She's fairly thin, even though she eats heartily enough. She also drinks enough tea to drown a horse. She is strong enough for someone her 5'5", but not overly so, and her skin is surprisingly light for someone from a desert region.

She moves with refined steps and quick reflexes, and is usually fairly light on her feet when she needs to be. Her arms, though thin, are well muscled from practice bow-hunting and staff-fighting. She's not the lightest person around, but she's certainly light enough and strong enough to pull push her weight around a bit and to keep herself steady on the ship's rigging.

Skills: Fast reflexes, can talk her way into or out of most anything, can talk other people into or out of doing most anything, has an excellent ear for music, sings, can dance, plays violin, fights with a bo staff, is an excellent shot with a bow, always seems to win when playing tile games, can do just about anything she puts her mind to
Ship: Voracious Curiosity
Job: Second Mate
Other:
- Loves fish and cactus meat (namely Barboach and Cacnea), and goes to extreme lengths to make sure she can get some
- When she doesn't get enough sleep and something bad happens, she goes into extreme giggling fits. Completely unintentional, but frightening at times. After the giggling stops, she's just off-her-rocker bat-$#!+ crazy.

Pokemon:

Species: Flygon
Nickname: FireFly
Personality: Firefly is a strange, but amicable compaion that isn't much afraid of anything, but does not like anyone on his back save for Elizabeth. He doesn't generally like to fight, either, preferring to run and hide or confuse his opponents with speed rather than fight them himself. He's never harmed a living creature, in fact, and would probably assist friend and foe alike if left to his own devices.

He seems rather clueless at times, and often stares off into space, but is an exellent fighter and a loyal companion. He doesn't like people ordering him around, and holds a deep grudge against the members of Aqua for doing what they have. He is a gentleman to a T, though a bit snobby at times when he's around people he doesn't like.
Moveset: Teleport, Swords Dance, Feint, Protect, Dream Eater, Leaf Blade, Psycho Cut, Fury Cutter
Pending. I like the history, but the Appearance is a tad too short. Lengthen the second paragraph. Also, both Pokemon personalities are too short, and I'd like it if you increased them a bit.

Right, I'm glad that my initial worries about people all wanting to be captains have been dismissed, but I'd perhaps like some people to be on other ships, as otherwise it's a bit uneven. Unless, of course, I could change the format and make all characters on the same ship, but I don't think it would be quite as fun, even if more workable. And besides, maybe some other people have also started their sign ups.

Kiruria

La Melancolie Noir
...A pirate's life for me! I've been wondering if there will ever be an RPG where this character would fit, and here it is!

Hmm, at first I was going to sign up as a captain of one of the other ships, but my character is best suited for the Blind Faith, which already has a captain. Oh well...

Name: Robin Merrimac
Age: 24
Sex: Male
Hometown/Area: A little town in Hoenn called Harvest Glade. This town is just southwest of Mt. Pyre, in the area that encompasses what most people in modern times know as Routes 122 and 123. See History for more details about this town.
Appearance: Most people first see Robin as the handsome and sprightly lad who always has a smirk on his face, and the bright, youthful aura about him contributes to that. There's nothing special about his height--he stands at a modest 5'8". His hair falls down to his shoulders in soft, ashy blond locks which curl a slight bit as they descend and are pretty much the same length all around. The tone of his skin reminds one of milk with a little bit of brown sugar mixed in, though the brown colour of his eyes is as dull as tree bark. He and his family are known for having very little facial hair, what there is being soft and barely noticeable. Even more barely noticeable are what little lips he has, overshadowed by the rather pointy characteristic of his nose. In terms of build and such, Robin has quite a scrawny figure, but the rather thick skin he has prevents him from seeming as such. Even so, he lacks much muscular definition, at least what's obvious.

Robin's style of clothing definitely reflects his preference of the old-fashioned over the futuristic. The shirt he usually wears is a light beige cloth, with sleeves that are bunched up at the end and show only a bit of his forearms. On top of that he wears a deep brown tunic made of a soft, velvety material. This reaches down to his thighs, and has short and very loose sleeves with dark green embroidery along the edges. Robin cut a little V-neck into the top of it for the purposes of showing off his pendant, a little silver medallion with a four-pointed star overlapping it and a tiny round sapphire in the centre. This also functions as a compass. In contrast to that rather elegant piece, the belt he wears around his waist is a plain black one. On Robin's legs are black tights, which actually aren't that tight. Brown boots reach almost up to his knees, opening in large folds at the top and decorated with little silver buckles around the ankles.

The most prized article of clothing Robin wears (at least sometimes) is a coat made of deep red velvet, with fancy golden trim all around. This coat is obviously big on him, and the sleeves almost cover his hands--though it barely brushes the tops of his boots in terms of length. It only has two small chest pockets on the outside, but many hidden pockets on the inside. In fact, if he doesn't wear the coat, he still uses it to store his belongings, rolling it up and hanging it on his back like a backpack. If he still needs a pocket while not wearing this coat, he still has one--one large and barely noticeable one that makes up the bottom front part of his tunic.

The objects Robin keeps in his pockets include things like a small telescope, a pocket knife, a pipe, and a few tiny knives made for throwing. Inside his coat he keeps a small vial of poison which he can dip these knives in. He also carries a short sword (just a foot and a half long) which has a hilt made of purple leather and a sheath to match. Because this sword is attached to the right side of Robin's belt, people who see him often think he's left-handed. It is true that he handles the sword with his left hand, but he does that so that he can leave his right hand free for stealing things and such. Or for pulling out his dagger, which is about a third as long as the sword. During a sword fight, Robin likes to cheat by pulling out this dagger and stabbing the enemy in the side.

Personality: Most of the time, Robin has an amiable, jubilant air about him. He walks through town with a slight bounce in his step, and makes a habit of occasionally skipping about as if dancing in the meantime. Truly, he enjoys life and is in constant pursuit of peace, love, freedom, and happiness. That or maybe he's there already. In fact, his "god" is a little pink elephant in the sky, who showers happiness on the world and treats randomness as a virtue. Many people think that's a result of what he smokes, but he treats it as solid wisdom anyway.

When people greet him, Robin is very likely to make a random, matter-of-fact remark or whip up a quick conversation. Instead of asking direct questions, he likes to beat around the bush and hint at a question--and he does the same thing if he wants something. Often times he will use more words than is needed in a sentence, unless he's responding to a simple question or something. This is actually a side effect of his overall sneaky nature. Moreover, he has a strong tendency to lie or tell a tall tale in response to a personal question. Since he usually keeps the same merry tone of voice throughout a conversation, it's more challenging for people to tell when he tells a lie.

In a social situation, Robin is welcoming and somewhat polite. It's not very common for him to speak with derogatory language. He enjoys being around people, but doesn't worry about being alone--in the latter case, he always has the little pink elephant hovering high above for company, maybe even a few trees or ocean spirits as well. Sometimes he tries to carry conversations with Pokemon he encounters as well.

Robin is an outlaw at heart, but that does not necessarily mean he ignores the rules. Rather, he is well aware of them, and as a result prefers to do things secretly. One can certainly not call him boisterous, that's for sure. What helps with this is the fact that he never stares into a person's eyes, part of his tendency to remain less noticed. Plus, he has a knack for appearing out of nowhere and disappearing all of a sudden. And finally, he tries his best not to be a hypocrite--not only does he flaunt the rules, but he doesn't expect people to abide by the rules all the time. People know him to be lenient and agreeable, also good at compromising.

On the other hand, one of the few things that can get on Robin's nerves is stubborn people in his group who can't use common sense. Although he doesn't admit it, whenever he's in a group, he hopes that everyone in it will follow his advice. When faced with one of these people, Robin's first tendency is to just ignore them and let the sleeping dog lie (though it's these people he often steals from). If someone threatens him with a fight, he'll fight them, but unless it's a Pokemon battle, he'll use every opportunity to cheat or sneak away. Pokemon battles are the rare case where Robin almost always follows the rules. Speaking of Pokemon, Robin is not a die-hard Pokemon fan, but he enjoys their company. As if they were close human friends, Robin trusts them and is not very strict at all.

But every person has a weakness, and Robin's most prominent one is a resistance to change. When things change around him, it takes him a long time to get used to his new surroundings. In many cases, he feels nostalgic for the way things were before. At times he gets depressed about this, and during those times he finds himself spending time alone, often in a place in nature, to think about the past. It saddens him when evil plagues the world, but at the same time, when such a catasrophe happens, he makes it his goal to abolish that evil force. In this case of course, the evil force translates to Team Aqua.

History: The town of Harvest Glade in Hoenn is very spread out, reaching from the marsh area near the river all the way to the lake surrounding Mt. Pyre. In between is plenty of forest patches where wild Pokemon dwell, and lush meadows where berries flourish. It's not too far away from Lilycove City where the king of Hoenn dwells. This was the town where Robin spent the earliest years of his life. His father was a priest who conducted funeral services at Mt. Pyre, and when his mother was not at home, she frequented the fisheries and markets near the river (across which Mauville City would be in modern times). In fact, neither of them cared for the agricultural practices that the town was famous for (though they did have a few berry trees in their backyard)--they just lived there because Harvest Glade happened to be inbetween the markets and Mt. Pyre.

Robin's favourite moments of his childhood were times spent with Mum in the marketplace. He liked the liveliness of the place, as well as the fact that people here were quite friendly, a nice contrast to the dreary atmosphere of Mt. Pyre. In fact, Mt. Pyre used to intimidate little Robin, who would often refuse to go there even if his dad was with him. At the marketplace, Robin enjoyed looking at all the merchandise in the shops, quickly getting used to the fishy smell of the place. Even listening to traders from across the river bicker over business was amusing. When all was done after a day at the marketplace, Robin and his mother would return home, feed the Poochyenas and Zigzagoons they kept as pets, and then invite various children living in town over to play. The Merrimac household was thus known as the "party place" because of the activity that happened when all the kids were around.

But there was one event that sticks out in Robin's mind--a day he remembers clearly. When he was four years old, he and his mother were at the marketplace as usual one day. While Robin was watching Mum trying to haggle with one of the shopkeepers, an older boy tackled him from behind, causing him to fall forward. Just as he was getting up, the boy removed from Robin's pocket some money Mum had given him for shopping. Robin shouted after him, "Hey! What was that for?" but by that time the boy was running away. At first he thought that that boy did a very mean thing, but then a thought occurred to him... that that seemed like an effective way of obtaining extra money. Thus, while his mum was still occupied with negotiating the price of a potato peeler, Robin decided to try it. Soon enough he found another little boy about his size. For a long time he thought about just how to attack that boy... but he was afraid that the boy might be stronger than him. So instead he walked up behind him, noticing he was occupied with tossing an Oran Berry around, reached carefully into the boy's pocket, and took out... not money, but an odd medallion with a star and a sapphire on it. Even so, Robin was so proud of this that he kept the medallion at all times throughout his life. (Yes, it's the same one described in the Appearance section.)

So from then on, whenever he and his mum took a trip to the marketplace, Robin searched not only for things to buy, but things to steal as well. Once or twice he did get caught, in which case he made up witty excuses like, "Oh, I'm sorry, I must've thought I was reaching into my own pocket." One such person, another priest at Mt. Pyre, told him that stealing was a very bad thing to do, but Robin immediately thought that that priest was just saying that because he couldn't appreciate the fun of it, being from such a gloomy place. Over time he began to relate such negative feelings and hatred to religion, for trips to church with his dad further confirmed many restrictions placed on life. He especially frowned upon the various "commandments" that seemed to rule over life--it definitely contrasted the many overhearings of "life is free, life is good" which he always enjoyed hearing from one particular fisherman.

Sometimes Robin enjoyed stealing toys and such from the children that visited his mum's house as well, not to mention sneaking into other houses to look for interesting stuff. He wasn't that close to most of the other children who visited--he kept seeing them as plain old farmer's daughters and sons. But there was one friend he had: Bonnie, the daughter of the aforementioned fisherman. Bonnie enjoyed exploring and looking for trouble, and was intrigued by Robin's rising skill as a thief. In the years after they met, they went on adventures and thieving sprees alike. They even took a daring trip to Mt. Pyre once, which was of course Bonnie's suggestion. Robin was still a bit intimidated by the place, but in order to please Bonnie, he decided to try being brave. Besides, he often wondered if there was some sort of treasure at the top. Actually, there was--an oddly beautiful place in the fog where a mysterious stone structure stood. Witches and occultists liked to gather at this place, but for the most part it was barren. But that place soon became Robin and Bonnie's little "secret garden", and often times the two would spend a whole day there.

There is another fateful day that Robin will never forget, except this one wasn't nearly as happy as the other one. One evening, when Robin was twelve, he and Bonnie were running away from a house they had just snuck into. Bonnie suggested that the two run all the way to Mt. Pyre (having to take a boat on the way of course) so they can relax in their favourite spot--and left before Robin could respond. Robin started running after her, but one sight stopped him, an ominous shadow in the mist. It was an Absol, and it did not look happy. The Absol growled and stared at Robin, who did not move because he was once told that running away from a large four-legged Pokemon was an invitation for following (and dinner). After a few minutes, the Absol glanced behind, muttering something in Absol language. Finally, it turned and ran away, heading towards the rest of town.

Though a bit worried by this Absol's appearance, Robin remembered Bonnie and continued heading to Mt. Pyre. For a while he was staring at the mountain, waiting for a boy to reach his side of the lake in the rowboat that Robin often used. While the boy was on his way back, something startling happened. A thick blanket of fog cascaded down all sides of the mountain, shrouding it until it was no longer visible. Harsh winds whipped around outside the fog, nearly causing the boy's boat to tip over. A few Tentacool rose out of the water to see what was going on. Screams of Shuppets in agony erupted from within the mist, which kept swirling, and the haunting cry of a Ninetales followed, loud and clear as if it had come from a sky god. After the Ninetales cry, there was a chilling, dead silence. Slowly the fog settled, melting into the sea below. When all was clear, to everyone's astonishment, Mt. Pyre was completely gone. In its place was a dark building with a highly forbidding and intimidating air about it. Mutterings of people could be heard from within this building, but onlookers knew this arrival was not a good sign.

Soon after the boy in the boat arrived on shore, Robin remembered something, and said aloud, "Oh shoot, my parents were in that... cottage... right there..." That was a cottage Robin's father owned, right at the foot of Mt. Pyre. But now it was a dock of some sort, where people in strange armor carrying strange tube-shaped objects patrolled about. It was a bizarre concept to grasp, but it was true--his parents had vanished along with Mt. Pyre, which was now this evil building from the future. And then he remembered Bonnie, and grief struck him in the chest. Bonnie, having gone to the mountain already, had also vanished.

Noticing his grief, the boy standing next to Robin said, "Hey, wanna run away with me?" Robin was ambivalent about this for a few moments, but when he saw the strange men from the strange building coming across the sea in fancy-looking boats, he decided to agree with him. And so began the friendship between Robin and Billy, the hunter's son who always wore a raccoon hat. The two fled the town, carrying their little boat with them to the marketplace, shouting "The weirdos are coming! The weirdos are coming!" as they rode the boat out on the river. Eventually they made it to the seaside city of Slateport, and it was there that they took refuge for a while, living on whatever Robin could steal and whatever Billy could beg with his famous puppy eyes for.

Slateport was a bustling fishing community, with a clear division between nobles and merchants. Again Robin and Billy lived on the streets for a while. But although Robin was a little pleased with the variety of fish caught in the city, the experience was overall depressing. His family and best friend were gone, and the strange "star people" with their advanced technology were (in Robin's opinion) trying to take over the world. And all he could do about it was find a new place to hide. Often times he wondered whether the foreigners would eventually find their way here. Yet thankfully, they never did, save for an occasional scout.

Life got a little better when Robin and Billy visited a teenage boy doing some chores outside his house. The teenager started by wondering where in the world they were from, as if they were regular street rats. But as Robin and Billy told their stories, the teenager thought them rather interesting, and was especially touched by Robin's tragic loss. He invited the two to stay with him for a while, and this started a whole new friendship. Argent, an aspiring blacksmith and knife collector, also owned a Vulpix and a Goldeen. Billy was both excited and jealous of having Pokemon, and even Robin often wondered about having one around. But then Argent showed the two younger boys something very odd: a strange round red-and-white device with a clear button in the centre. When one pressed this button, a beam of red energy emerged and materialised into a Pokemon. Upon first observing this, Robin and Billy looked at each other and laughed, hardly believing the Pokemon was real.

Ah, so a group was growing. The final friend to be mentioned here is one Robin, Billy, and Argent encountered while wandering about in Slateport's underground. There, there was a family of gypsies, who had set up a small fortune-telling shop. But as Robin watched, he saw a gypsy boy about his age try to steal a wallet Billy was holding. Upon being discovered, the boy immediately began to apologise, but he was extremely grateful that Robin, who was a thief himself, understood. And so became the trio's friendship with Lestelle, the highly observant mystic who was talented in divination and shared many of Robin's beliefs.

Ah, a group of four, what a good number! Robin, Billy, Argent, and Lestelle were excited about the times they would spend together, even though an evil conspiracy was happening somewhere not too far away. In time they would be known as the Jolly Farers, and would be secretly remembered among folk in Slateport, though practically nobody knew of their criminal tendencies, which were minor compared to those of Team Aqua.

But sadly, the invasion of Team Aqua and death of King Sebastian was only the tip of the iceberg. For announcements from the west came, panicked shouts of "The tides are coming! THE TIDES ARE ****ING COMING!!!" And they weren't kidding. The Jolly Farers saw a group of Absol standing right outside the city. As Robin knew too well, the appearance of an Absol meant that disaster was coming. Putting two and two together, he came up with what he saw as the only wise idea: take a ship out to sea before they would be destroyed by the waves. They did so, and even so, trying to steer a ship on a tumultuous sea was no easy task, especially since some of the waves were over a hundred feet tall. Decks were flooded, masts were snapped in two by the winds, sails were torn, and the ship almost capsized a couple of times. As they got further out to sea, the waves got a little calmer, but storms were all around, the most violent storms they had ever heard of. According to them, this could very well have been the end of the world as they knew it...

By the time the storms were over, the ship had been completely destroyed, and all that was left was a shabby lifeboat which the Jolly Farers had to squeeze into. For a while they wandered, lost at sea, unable to find any food or shelter. But after several days in that situation, they finally washed up on the shore of one of the islands. And from there, the real adventures began. Seizing another ship and calling it the Silver Dolphin, they ventured to other islands, at some times pretending to be Aqua grunts, at other times spending time alone on the open sea, at other times raiding other ships. It took a few years for the Jolly Farers to get fully used to basically living on the sea, but it sure was worth it.

Then finally they landed, on an island which was home to a group of outcasts much like themselves. These were people who did not support Team Aqua, who mourned over the king's death and the destruction of their homes, especially the latter. It was a world of sadness and the end of all hope, and practically everyone knew it. At that point Robin's only sources of happiness were drug-induced or thinking about Bonnie. Even the latter came with its equal in sadness--he would never get over her disappearance.

Speaking of drug-induced, there came another fateful day. Robin was alone one sunny day, resting against a tree, high and happy beyond measure for no particular reason. Occupied with a mental conversation with the little pink elephant in the sky above, he didn't even notice something crawl up beside him. When he finally looked down, at first he thought a little angel had approached him, and what turned out to be a Ralts was flattered. This Ralts looked to be quite flustered, having wandered around town and panicked at all the sad faces on people. All causes set aside, this Ralts was impressed that someone could be so happy and optimistic in a world of despair. Thus started the friendhip... oh, do I hear groaning? Well, anyway, this is different because it's a Pokemon, okay? Robin named the Ralts Guinevere, and the two would accompany each other from then on.

Over the years, the Jolly Farers slowly began to settle into this new island, re-familiarising themselves with their surroundings. It wasn't that bad for the most part--Argent re-established his position as a blacksmith, and even set up his own shop and helped with ship construction at other times. Lestelle fared a similar way, setting up a kiosk in a small and depressing though still existent marketplace on the beach, where he told fortunes and even sold a few trinkets that were actually items that the Jolly Farers had stolen from various places. Billy stuck around to help either Lestelle or Argent out, and tried to cheer up some of the people there--even though he couldn't think of a future to look forward to.

Oh wait--what about Robin? It was hard for him to adjust to a new way of life, this new world that the evil Aqua people had created. He knew not how they could summon such powerful waves to overtake the land, but he figured Kyogre must have been involved somehow, having heard stories about it being the ruler of the seas and bringer of the tides. Robin wandered around the island with Guinevere, staying with Argent in his shop but frequently leaving to collect things and further mantain his thieving skills. It was a decent though still unstable part of his life. Robin was uncertain about the future of things, whether Team Aqua would completely take over... what if they discovered this gathering of rebels?

Fortunately, over more years, rumours of a rebellion arose. Speakers got on soap boxes and spoke about how much they hated Team Aqua and their technologies. Others gave little science fairs about these technologies, and hinted at the possibility of using that technology against Team Aqua. Robin wasn't too interested in most of these new technologies, save maybe for a cure for a plague that devastated the islands at one point. He still didn't like to use Pokeballs, although he did keep one after a bit of urging from a young Meowth he had obtained at some point. This Meowth, who was named Bon-Bon, was fascinated by new technological things, including Pokeballs, making her one odd Meowth indeed.

And finally there came one more fateful day. Now before you start groaning, let me assure you that this is the final one worth mentioning. Robin was in a tavern one day, minding his own business, when he heard talk of a ship that was departing, one with a mission to stop the forces of Team Aqua. He also heard more good news: King Sebastian's nephew was alive and well, ready to take the throne after the rebellion was over. Seeing this as the perfect opportunity to fulfill a purpose at last, Robin gathered at the ship, called the Blind Faith, before its captain. And it wasn't too long before Robin found himself aboard the ship, as first mate no less. This did come with one sad fact: he would have to leave the other Jolly Farers behind. But he would keep in touch with them as best as possible, and promise them a better future than they have expected for a long time.

Skills: Robin is a very experienced thief, and is especially talented with pickpocketing. In fact, he's skilled with his hands in general, having a surprising amount of dexterity in various things. This makes him very good with picking locks too, and he's also good at moving around unnoticed. He doesn't have a lot of sword-fighting experience, but he makes up for it in quickness and a love of cheating, as explained before.
Ship: Blind Faith
Job: First Mate
Other: Robin hates cold and stormy weather, having had bad experiences with both. He's also a very picky eater.

RPG Sample: Here's an RP sample of another member of the Merrimac family. It's from a Pokemon/ninja RPG on another site. Taylor is an NPC in this one.
Just as Lesley finished untying the nurse, she saw that Lividus was fighting the other woman, who turned out to be an assassin from Sinto.
I knew it! she thought. I thought she looked suspicious...
Lesley also glimpsed Taylor and Lacertis heading further down the hallway, probably toward another hospital wing; they were instructed to protect the other patients in case there were other assassins.

Speaking of other assassins, after Lividus owned the fight with the assassin, the assassin said there were two others, one in the hospital wing Taylor was in, one on the roof. While this was going on, Lesley crept closer to the assassin, remaining out of sight of Lividus. After a few moments she saw the assassin take something out of the pouch on her hip: a shuriken, which Lividus sliced into three pieces. This would have been an amazing sight to Lesley had she seen it, but she resisted the temptation to look. Instead, while the assassin was still watching her shuriken being sliced apart, Lesley reached into that same pouch and slipped two shurikens identical to the one that had just been thrown. Refocusing on her aura and turning away from the assassin, she tiptoed out of the room, stooping down to pick up the assassin's dropped knife along the way.

Lesley headed cautiously down the hall, shooting occasional glances at the northern wing at the other end, where Taylor and one of the other assassins were. She couldn't hear any commotion from there, so all was probably well... That is, until she saw a small silhouette walking towards her... it was a Bagon.
"Oh, it's you, Helmer," Lesley whispered.
Behind Lesley, the conversation between Lividus and the assassin continued. She hid in a nearby empty room when she saw Lividus emerge from the closet, running in the direction his Feraligatr had gone.
He's probably gonna take care of that other assassin in the other wing, Lesley thought. That leaves the one on the roof...

Suddenly, an idea came to Lesley's mind. She didn't like the idea of fighting an assassin like Lividus just did (besides, she would mostly likely lose and die within ten seconds if she did), but she thought of something that might stop them... With that, she turned away from the north wing and headed outside. By that time, the sun was just a red speck on the horizon, resting above a canopy of trees in the distance. Lesley kept close to the walls of the building, so that the assassin on the roof couldn't see her, and she advised Helmer to be quiet. Then she began to walk around the perimeter of the hospital, searching for ways to climb up onto the roof... As she did, she took out a little bag and collected some pebbles in it.
I certainy hope this will work...

While Lesley was bending down to pick up another pebble, Helmer tugged at her trouser leg. Standing up and facing the wall, Lesley saw that the roof was solid and sturdy-looking in this spot. Also, there was a ladder lying on the ground. Taking care to make as little sound as possible, Lesley moved the ladder away from the wall, then raised it up a little bit. Using the hilt of her dagger, she bore two little holes in the ground a short distance away from where the roof ended, and she positioned the ladder so that its ends fit in the holes. To her relief the top end of the ladder just barely reached the roof without showing itself over the top. After putting the ladder in place, she paused for a moment, listening for any movements on the roof... but to her relief she heard none.
"Now for Phase Two," she whispered to Helmer.

Lesley and Helmer continued around the perimeter of the hospital, walking for another two minutes or so. By that time, Lesley reckoned they had walked about a fourth of the way around the hospital. They stopped at last next to a dumpster; Lesley squatted down to give whispered instructions to Helmer.
"All right Helmer, you know how to play hide and seek? I want you to wait here and count to fifty. Count quietly, though, and not too fast. Once you reach fifty, why don't you bang your head on this dumpster a few times?"
Helmer turned to face the dumpster, as if studying it. He seemed to like the idea of headbutting things.
"No, not yet," Lesley reminded him, "count to fifty first, remember?"
At that point, Lesley stood up and took a few steps backward. Then she mouthed "Now!" to the Bagon, who started whispering, "Bay, bay, bay..." (1, 2, 3...)

Satisfied with Helmer's counting tempo, Lesley took off, running back the way she came, keeping her footsteps quiet. Within less than a minute she reached the ladder she had set up earlier, and started to climb it, attentive to every little sound the ladder could make. Fortunately, the ladder was sturdy and did not creak. She climbed in this fashion until she remained crouched on one rung, keeping her head just below the roof.
Now to play the waiting game. Hopefully Helmer knows how to count.

Meanwhile, Taylor was talking to a group of nurses and patients in the north wing of the hospital, sounding rather displeased with himself.
"Er-hem, attention... everyone," Taylor announced. He then reduced his voice to more of a whisper. "Lividus has just ordered that we evacuate the hospital. There are Sinto assassins in..."
Immediately a bunch of nurses and patients gasped and chattered amongst themselves. Taylor sighed and shook his head.
"Isn't there an emergency exit around here or something?" he continued, sounding a bit annoyed.
"Over there..." a nurse answered, pointing to a door some distance behind Taylor. "But only a nurse can..."

Before the nurse could reply, a knife flew at her from out of nowhere and stabbed her in the side. Even more gasps of fear and chit-chatter erupted in the crowd. Fortunately for them, though, one brave nurse headed for the door and cracked it open. Seconds later, more knives flew at random nurses, and patients as well, though three out of four missed. Another flew right at Taylor, but he happened to draw out his kunai just in time, blocking the incoming knife with its wide blade. He then ran around to the side , dodging another knife the assassin threw at him.
"No boy can outmaneuver me," the assassin--a young man this time--taunted. He was dressed in a red kimono and black boots, and had three sword-like weapons of different sizes strapped on his back. His hair was a bright maroon in colour and was in a long ponytail. While the assassin said this taunt, Taylor sneaked in a stab with his kunai, but the assassin jumped back to block.
"No mere boy outspeeds Streak," the assassin taunted again, firing a low kick that made Taylor's right leg give way, and Taylor himself to fall onto one knee. Then he ducked just in time to avoid a swing of a blade. As he did so, he saw something big and blue in the doorway, and thought he glimpsed someone approaching him from that direction, just as quickly as this assassin moved. As if by instinct, he sprang up after that, backing up towards the door the nurse hd just opened...

"...Bay, bay, bay..." (47, 48, 49...) Then Helmer paused, looking a little confused. Lesley had been telling him to keep quiet for quite some time, so now why was she telling him to make a loud noise all of a sudden? Fortunately, though, this Bagon was neither Timid nor Careful in nature--he was Bold, Bold enough to have his need to headbutt things override any worries about it.

After a while of waiting, Lesley heard a noise like clanging metal some distance off to her right. This she knew to be the signal. As soon as she heard this, she raised her head above the roof, and sure enough, she saw the silhouette of a person standing up, looking in the direction of the sound. The person took out what looked to be a katana, and crept towards the edge of the roof... At the same time, Lesley climbed the remainder of the roof and noted the direction the assassin was in. She closed her eyes again, focusing once more, and then she crept along the roof herself, in the direction of the voice and hopefully the assassin. Her heart pounded all the while--even though she knew her trait was at work, she couldn't help but fear being sliced in half by the assassin's katana (or whatever the weapon was) or stabbed by a kunai. This continued until...

"GON!"
Helmer cried out when he saw a shape appearing over the roof, looming against the darkening sky. This was Lesley's grand opportunity--it was now or never. She threw one of the poisoned shuriken she had just stolen at the assassin, aiming for somewhere at the assassin's back... And then her moment of fear revealed itself. For a brief moment Lesley glimpsed the shuriken hitting the assassin, and she thought she heard the assassin cry out, but she had no time to find out for sure. In a panic, she turned around and jumped off the roof...

Lesley's fall was not as bad as she thought. She landed on something somewhat soft, but it was not grass or dust... and it made a grunting noise when she landed. Reaching out with her hand, she felt some sort of cloth... and then whatever it was moved beneath her, and she rolled off.
"Where in the world did you come from?"
Lesley recognised this voice as belonging to Taylor--sure enough, it was he who she had landed on.

For the next few moments, Taylor and Lesley explained what had just happened to them. Taylor sounded rather agitated when he spoke, and kept glancing at the doorway he had just come out of--but it had early closed by then, so he couldn't see what was going on inside the room. Lesley, on the other hand, sounded more apologetic, and kept glancing at the roof. She saw the top of what could have been the assassin from before, apparently motionless, from where she was standing.

Pokemon

Species:
Gardevoir
Nickname: Guinevere
Personality: Like many of her species, Guinevere has a strong bond with her trainer, who in this case is Robin of course. But in her case, this bond is so special to her that she treats it almost in a romantic sense. It is true that when she and Robin go somewhere, Guinevere treats it similarly to a date, acting much like a girlfriend. But if it is a relationship, of course it isn't one that's too serious if you know what I mean. Anyway, Guinevere is an overall serene and optimistic soul, ready to provide comfort when Robin's feeling down, ready to support someone who's suffering. Yet she's not the timid princess some might think her as. She actually is very brave as well, and never backs down from a fight. If someone, especially Robin, is in danger, she won't hesitate to jump in and protect them. Sometimes she has fun with this though. For example, if someone is winning a sword fight with Robin, she'll throw the opponent back with a telekinetic thrust which leaves many surprised. The only time when she won't jump in to protect him is at night, when she prefers to sleep right with him.

Part of the reason why Guinevere feels so attached to Robin is her fear of loneliness, which is quite possibly her only fear. She panicks whenever Robin leaves her side without telling her, and gets easily depressed when left alone in an unfamiliar place. She does have a telepathic connection to Robin, but she feels that that isn't enough--she strongly prefers being physically with him. Sadly, she's not that good at teleporting, so that can be hard at times. Also because of her fear of loneliness, she hates the idea of being in a Pokeball, which Robin totally agrees with.
Moveset: Calm Mind, Psychic, Double Team, Hypnosis, Imprison, Magical Leaf, Wish, Captivate

Species: Meowth
Nickname: Bon-Bon
Personality: Robin nicknamed her Bon-Bon not only because she was cute (especially when he first got her as a kitten), but because she reminded him of Bonnie (see History). Like Bonnie, Bon-Bon is adventurous, playful, and eager to try new things. Unlike Robin, she embraces change, because change gives her new and exciting things to do. As mentioned in the History, she likes to stay in her Pokeball, seeing the virtual mini-world inside as fascinating. She sees her Pokeball as a sanctuary, to escape Robin's occasional remarks of disapproval at her love of technology.

But the reason Robin keeps her around is for the fact that she makes an excellent scout, and has good night vision. She watches over him while both he and Guinevere sleep, and jumps on top of them when danger approaches. Over time, she has learned much about Robin's thieving practices, and now likes to steal things herself. She can produce some coins from Pay Day, but she seems to prefer stealing them over making them. And lastly, unlike Guinevere, she doesn't really like to battle. However, she enjoys learning new attacks to use just for fun.
Moveset: Taunt, Faint Attack, Fake Out, Fury Swipes, Mimic, Pay Day, Mud-Slap, Swift

Whoo, a completely new character that I don't usually create. This'll be fun...

Name:
Caele (Ka-el-lei) Sorensun

Age:
32

Sex:
Male

Hometown/Area:
Hoenn, in a small farm on the outskirts of a beach and the bustling port that would later become Slateport City

Appearance:
Standing at about six feet, one inch and three quarters, it isn’t that hard to find Caele in a crowd. He rarely ducks his head or hunches over, always standing at full height to make most people look up to see his ever forward facing face. Accompanying his tall stature is a strong and solid build which resulted from many rigorous labors and pain-staking tasks. Hiding under sun bronzed skin are thick muscles that have toiled for many days with little to no rest. His limbs are long and thick, complementing well with his strong outlook. His muscular image, however, is offset by a characteristic leanness that gives him the appearance of a Spartan gladiator. Though he may not be the kind if person to showcase himself, he can be quite a daunting sight with a fully tensed and flexed body. And though visually large and heavy, he moves with the astonishing agility of a runner and the practiced elegance of royalty that would surprise any onlooker.

His body is littered with scars of various sizes and depths. Though most are almost invisible on his skin, there are still a few, particularly on his arms and back, that are quite prominent on his skin. The largest one has is vertical slash on a few inches to the left of his right shoulder blade that runs from the base of his armpit to just above his waist. It’s pale in comparison to the rest of his skin tone, making it a mark that one can easily identify him with. That is, if they have seen it; it’s not something that he cares to show anyone. The ones that have seen it are either not from the ship or have seen it by accident, wherein he then threatens them with bloody murder to keep it with zipped lips. Another scar he has but cannot hide is visible on his left hand, though you can’t really call it visible. He’s missing his left pinky, cut right from the base of his knuckle. He calls it his proof of being a part of the crew.

His head is fairly proportioned to his body and topped with short, black hair, though a patch of the hair on the back of his head is long enough to reach the small of his broad back and tied into a ponytail with a thin, black hair band. For one reason or another, it seems to look cleaner than most others, an unusual feature for a man such as him. He has thick black brows over a pair of sharp eyes the color of long fossilized amber. They can be dark, stormy and piercing, they can be bright, calm and peaceful, and, once in a blue moon, they can be soft, gentle and warm. He has thin cheekbones but a full face. His nose is slightly hooked, a remembrance from once slamming it against a hard granite floor, while its bridge is neither too narrow nor too thick. His ears are normal as far as appearances go, though his right ear is pierced and has a small, plain silver hoop – real silver, though he says it is but an imitation. His jaw is fairly squared. He has a few scars on his face, the most obvious being a two-inch horizontal line on the side of his chin.

His upper body is covered with a roughly repaired sleeveless suede jerkin. It’s not decorated and rather plain, colored stone gray with only a black and white zigzag pattern on the collar and rims. It’s a bit tight on his body, not even hiding the slightest semblance of his physique, and has a few patches over it, but it does well for what it is meant for. One each forearm is a black leather arm bracer. The right one has a silver insignia that has been slashed and scratched into unidentifiablility. He wears a pair of dark russet-red trousers and is worn out with a few seams beginning to rip out. It fits well enough that it doesn’t hug his legs but doesn’t fall when pulled, though it may just be the gray sash around his waist. On his left hip and caught in the cloth of the sash is a sword sheathe, complete with a long sword that is surely of fine quality. Opposite it on the other hip are a knife and its gray knife sheath, usually hidden from plain view until the blade has found its victim. He finishes off his ensemble with a pair of tall and weathered brown boots.

Personality:
Caele has every bit the unsocial and indifferent persona that his appearance shows him to be. He’s very wary around others, often not trusting them to do anything if he has any say in it. It needs no mention that he always keeps an eye on people he’s not familiar with. However, the ones that are almost always at the receiving end of his gruff scrutiny are those that tend to be too happy, too nice, and too optimistic. Those people usually hear his voice saying sarcastic remarks and see him giving skeptical looks. That said, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t talk very much; on the contrary, he puts his own two cents in whether it’s asked for or not. He may even voice out accusations with only few, sometimes not even reliable, evidence. This tends to put him on most people’s bad side, not that he really cares. In fact, he tries not to get close to anyone as much as possible and makes as much emotional distance from other as much as possible, the only exception being Saihx. Usually, he shows this by not even bothering to remember anyone’s name, often sticking with peculiar observations. When forced to say the name, he’s likely to mispronounce it or even say an entirely different moniker; most people have given up from trying to make him do otherwise. The only ones that he does call by name are the ones that has gained a semblance of his respect, which is of course, a seldom but proud feat.

Caele is rarely moody, but when he is, half the time, everyone knows it. In fits if anger and any of its aggression-inducing cousins, he tends to stalk the corridors of the ship like a tall, dark beast. During such times, he grumbles and insults anyone that bothers him or gets in his way. He may even go as far as become physically aggressive; he has started his own fair share of fights, those often becoming a stress reliever. The other half of the time, when he’s feeling anything else but hostile, he secludes himself inside his room, which no one but the captain has seen, leaving Saihx and Lazuli to guard it and/or call him if the need arises. Of course, he then turns into an aggressive brute described formerly in this paragraph.

Caele wasn’t allowed to become a part of the crew only because of his distrustful nature, though it is actually an advantage for the reason he was meant to join. He takes his job as the Treasure Keeper very, very seriously. On occasion, he also adds his own findings to their already growing pile. He is able to find valuables and antiques of many kinds, though only a handful knows how he does it, including the captain and the first mate. Of course, he only does this with the approval of the captain, not that it’s usually a problem. The fact that he doesn’t always give everything he finds isn’t unknown to the authority figure, but he rarely does so anyway. One of his most defining qualities is his drive to protect what is his, as well the treasure he was tasked to watch over (that doesn’t mean he thinks it’s his, it’s just his job). He’s even willing to lose an arm to keep it from being taken, literally! That is only a last resort, however, and he can show a sly disposition that most others would not want to go up against. To observers, this would seem very materialistic and greedy. Though he thinks otherwise, he does nothing to prove otherwise. It’s his belief that he doesn’t have to prove himself to anyone.

In a situation that doesn’t involve guarding whatever he is being made to guard, whether by himself or his captain, he’s not very likely to give it his all. He’d rather not have any part in it, actually. He’s not likely to show his capabilities as a swordsman, which is a sight to behold. When fully focused, he fights with finesse that does not lack the strength of his body. His cunningness doesn’t lie only in protecting, either, as he can use a long sword in rather unusual but effective ways. His fighting style, for all his strength, is one that specializes in feints and using his opponent’s strength against them. He’s not above using the hidden knife in his sash in the last moment to assure his victory.

History:
Caele wasn’t born in a town or a city. No, he was born right on his mother’s bed, in his parent’s room, in his father’s house, and on their medium-sized farm situated right between a forest and a beachside. His father was not a wealthy man, but he was a farmer who worked hard to support his growing family. It was hard for his family to get money, since they were a lot farther than most other farms, and usually lost some of their produce trying to get it to the merchants in Slateport. However, according to his pa, it was worth it. What they didn’t get in money for quantity, they got it in quality. Their farm soil was high quality loam that grew large vegetables. The fact that their Miltanks grazed in natural fields just beside their farm also helped in getting them animal resources. All in all, they lived quite a good life for people who weren’t merchants or nobles.

His family has lived on the farm for many years, and since his father was the eldest child of his grandpa, he eventually inherited it after he died. By the time Caele was born, the ones living there were his family, his paternal aunt’s family, and his unmarried uncle. He had two older siblings, a four year senior sister who was called Mina and a two year senior brother who was called Turones. He was the youngest for only a year, for the following one introduced to him a younger sister by the name of Alie. In the following years, he would also gain three more siblings: three years junior Camellia, five years junior Stephan, and six years junior Aden.

Though only a child, like his brother and father before him, he already had a number of responsibilities. It wasn’t uncommon for children like him to do labor in a farm, even with a good number of helpers, though their own farm had none because its occupants only consisted of family members. At the age of six, he was already out tilling the soil with his father, his seven year old brother, two uncles and three cousins. Since they were always underhanded, he, as well as his similarly-aged cousin Adurr, also had to help his aunt, his sisters and his cousin to care for the farm animals, which consisted of a single Rapidash, two large Miltanks, a flock of Mareep and Flaffy, and a number of Spoinks and Grumpigs.

He didn’t have many adventures as kid. He was always swamped by his farm chores, which almost always took his whole day to finish. However, while it did keep him busy for most of the day, it did help him become much stronger and much more enduring than most other children his age. He later found out in their many arm wrestling games that he was also naturally stronger than his older male cousins and just as strong as his elder brother. It was something that he was quite proud of.

What few adventures he had were shared with Adurr, and on occasion, his brother. Half of them were spent running around and exploring the dark alleys and crowded streets. Of course, these were all usually spent trying to get out of the city after getting lost.

It was during one of these so called adventures that Caele and Adurr, both at the age of nine, found themselves inside a building where a number of young boys of various ages practicing motions and movements that mesmerized their young minds. The ones closest to them, a group of boys that looked only around five and six, were swinging and thrusting their arms in a timely manner, piercing invisible bodies with swords made of air. A little farther were males their age practicing with long wooden sticks. Instead of striking air, they were partnered up, not only aiming to strike the intended target but also avoiding it. They wore light armors that defended them from most of the blow, but let enough in to give them an extra incentive not to get hit. The ones farthest away were a smaller group of boys and men ranging from the age of what looked to be fifteen to twenty. Like the boys in the middle, they were grouped in twos. Instead of wooden sticks were wooden swords, which seemed to look heavier and harder to utilize. They also wore larger and, by the sound of one dropping on the floor, heavier armors.

At the very end of the room were two middle aged men. They carried a strong disposition. From the looks of it, they also had the heaviest equipment. They each carried a full bodied long sword made of metal in one hand. On their bodies were armors that looked like even his father, the strongest man he knew, would have a hard time in it. Despite all these, among all the pairs, they had the most graceful motions and ease. Each movement was timed perfectly to either attack or evade. Each swing met either the air, which easily gave way, or the wood, which fought back the blow with a loud whack. It was like a dance specifically made for warriors. Unfortunately for them, they were found by their fathers and taken home before they could even ask if they could learn this dance of deadly steel.

Since that first day, Caele and Adurr would always try to find that building to observe. It had taken them two months, but they eventually found it again. However, they found out that only children from wealthy families could even start to learn under those. They were, however, welcome to stay and observe for as long as they did not disturb the students or touch any of the equipment, a very hard condition to follow for the two eager boys. And every time they were brought to the city, they watched. Like juggler who learns how to juggle by always watching, the boys learned how to fight, albeit in raw and unrefined manners.

What they found and learned, they brought back to their families, telling them of what they saw and how much they were entranced by the magnificent scenes of flowing blades and moving bodies. The younger generation turned it into a game, playing with thick and thin sticks tied together to create makeshift swords. Of course, from fun and games, it later became something to settle disputes between the brothers and the male cousins. However, instead of a way to decide who was right or wrong, it was way for them to let out their stress and irritation. In the end, whoever won or lost, with a tired but content laugh, the dispute was decided to be a stalemate. These fights could be short or long drawn out.

While particularly strong, Caele sometimes found it hard to keep up with his relatives’ stamina. To tire them out faster, he found clever ways to use his often older and bigger relatives’ bodies against them. For one reason or another, the one that got into the most fights were Caele himself and his older brother. While they usually ended their sessions with good will, there was always an undercurrent of unease in the brothers’ relationship.

When he was thirteen years old, Mina had become direly ill. Now to the family, this was a very critical situation. Now, Caele knew that his sister was beautiful. Really beautiful. In fact, their father often paraded her in Slateport City in front of wealthy merchants and nobles, quite a few of which would often try to flirt with her when her father was not paying attention, and a few would try even when he was. Mina already knew the reason why; when she got old enough, she would marry someone with a lot of money so that she could support her family when they were in need. Besides, it wasn’t entirely an uncommon wish for a low or medium-class family to be wedded into a high-class one. She hadn’t really minded as long as she would marry with someone she would at least be happy with. Of course, that was an impossible thing now that she was bedridden.

His parents, uncles and aunt did all they could to try to find a doctor, but the ones they found asked for too much than they could give. Even when the kids, at least those that could, had tried to help, they always found failure in the end. For Caele, losing Mina wouldn’t only mean a loss of possibility of wealth, but also a very caring sister. He wasn’t the only one with sorrowful and somber moods. The fact was, it made everyone irritable, which caused Caele and his elder brother to fight and argue more and more frequently.

In these arguments, his brother often told Caele just what his feelings towards him were. It was true, they shared a love that was brotherly, but Turones seemed to have been jealous of his brother. It had been a long time since Caele had surpassed Turones in strength. In their play-sword fights - though it could hardly be called play anymore -, Caele also seemed to surpass him in ingenuity and speed. And it was one piece of information that Turones would let slip that Caele would finally realize what the problem really was.

His father seemed to have realized that in physical ability, Caele was definitely a better choice. Also, Caele seemed to have been a lot more responsible than his brother. Turones, along as Adurr’s two older brothers, was said to tend to laze around and do half-assed work. Caele, who only concentrated on his chores and never paid too much attention to anyone else’s but his father’s, found this a surprise, especially since it was his own brother. Unfortunately for the elder brother, their father also deemed him unsuitable to inherit the farm, and with Caele’s physical capability, it was easy to assume that he would be next to gain the farm in his brother’s stead.

It was while Caele was processing those thoughts that they found a doctor willing to help their sister. He had but two conditions: 1) she would marry him, and 2) he would choose one of the children to become a gift to his niece, or in other words, become the girl’s servant. Instead of the one month that they were offered to ponder over his conditions, they only decided in a week.

One of the factors that helped in deciding was that the doctor was a nobleman’s son and, therefore, quite rich. Though he had previously allowed his daughter to choose her to-be husband, it was either this or her death. It was quite an easy choice, actually. The only problem was who would be chosen to become the girl’s servant. They were told that they would find out after the doctor’s stay on their farm, where he would care for Mina until she was fully healed, that he’d decide.

During that time, Caele frequently visited to check up on the doctor and his sister, and on some occasions, he often found them in rather awkward situations. In only a month, Mina had not only recovered but a relationship had bloomed between her and the doctor. Perhaps it was a stroke of luck that love had come easily between Mina and the doctor. One thing that Caele knew was that he wanted something like it. It was also at the end of that month that they found out that Caele was the chosen gift, something he wasn’t sure how to feel about.

At first, it was only a soft blow. The doctor lived in Slateport City, and that was where Mina would eventually live as well. They had thought that the doctor’s niece also lived there. The doctor failed to mention that Caele would be sent all the way to another city with the name of Rust Burrow. Despite the name, they were told that it was actually quite a beautiful city where many noblemen, usually those well practiced in the combative arts, gather.

To his parents, it was a deal. They could only wish their second eldest son well and the best. His aunt and uncles could only do the same. The one that took it the hardest was cousin Adurr, who had been Caele’s best friend since they were but wee babes. At that point, Caele and Turones had come unto an understanding. They knew that the one to be chosen would have been one of them because they had the closest age to the doctor’s niece. They figured that whoever was left would have inherited the farm.

Caele left the farm, depressed and down-spirited, the setting of his whole life since birth, at the age of thirteen and arrived in Rust Burrow a year older. That year, he also met the one whom he said owned his heart, twelve year old Sandra Emell. She might as well have owned it anyway since from the day he met her, she also owned his life.

Sandra wasn’t a spoilt brat that Caele thought she was before he met her. She was actually quite kind to him, though she often made him carry her things and run many errands. He didn’t really mind, farm life was a lot harder. There were only two things that he didn’t like about that life. One was the fact that he had to lead her Ponyta whenever she was called to one party or another. The treks could be as long as an hour, and he had little to do but pay attention to the road. The other thing was that he was forced to learn proper etiquette. He was basically representing the hospitality and care of the Emells, and since he was always sent to be at Sandra’s beck and call, it was a full time lesson.

One thing that he really enjoyed was that he was allowed to learn proper swordsmanship. Apparently, his strength hadn’t gone unnoticed by Sandra’s parents, and they decided that if he were to be near Sandra at all times, it would be a good thing for him to learn how to protect her. During his practices, he also met a slightly older boy by the name of Cadmund, who was also a talented swordsman, whom he would practice and spar many times with and later learn to respect greatly.

As the years passed, his fondness of Sandra grew, even when he began to pick out flaws on her ever positive appearance, though he wasn’t sure whether she always had them or if she gained them. On certain times, she would be easily irritable and throw tantrums, sometimes costing her parents a very expensive vase or a priceless set of fine china. There were also times that she would ignore Caele entirely when she was with her groups of friends. One of the ones that she saw her really ugly side was when she easily looked down on those that she didn’t think deserved her attention.

One victim of this was one pup in a pedigree Mightyena litter. Their pet Mightyena had given birth to four, well-bred pups. However, one of these pups was significantly smaller and weaker. It barely had the strength to even fight for its share of mother’s milk. She eventually grew tired of the pup and asked her father to ‘let it go’ so that the other pups could have a better share.

Caele, however, decided to ask if he could have the little pup. Given that he has had nothing but good behavior for the four years he had been there, his request was granted with no strife. Having cared for young Pokemon back in his farm days, he was able to bring up the Poochyena pup, whom he named Saihx, into a loyal companion that rarely leaves Caele’s side within a few months.

Sandra, however, had easily become bored with the Poochyena puppies. It wasn’t a problem though, since the pups were to become guarddogs of the large house they lived in. However, the young lady instead started to ask her parents for a rare fox-like Pokemon that was said to have the capability to evolve into many different Pokemon. It was two weeks later that an Eevee was introduced to Sandra. Apparently, Eevees were the trend among the nobles at the time, though Sandra’s seemed to have an interest in shiny objects. Within a week, she suddenly found a Vaporeon in place of her Eevee that was curiously rummaging in her jewel box. While it shocked her, she seemed to have gained a newfound and growing popularity; Eevee evolution owners were highly praised since the stones that were needed were extremely rare. This seemed reason enough for Sandra to begin taking care of the Vaporeon, which she named Lapis Lazuli, after her favorite gemstone.

It was when Caele was twenty three that he’d remember for many of his days. Sandra was twenty one, and she was to be wed with any bachelor of her choosing. Though he knew he was only her husband, and that she wasn’t exactly the perfect woman, he was going to ask her to allow him to become one of her suitors. Unfortunately, he had the worst timing.

He had found her talking with his sparring partner, Cadmund, though the two of them had not noticed his presence hiding behind the corner. They were talking about her eligibility as a bride and her suitors. He found out that she and Cadmund already had a relationship that none but the two of them knew about. And they also talked about him. Sandra already seemed to have known about his feelings about her for a long time. Or rather, he realized that Cadmund, the person whom he usually divulged his secrets to, had told her. He heard her planning to play him, to lead him on. She said he was…he was a puppy. That he kept his heart on his sleeve, and that he showed his emotions too much. He learned that day that the Sandra he knew was only an act, a façade meant to fool her parents, her friends, and him.

But for all the new maliciousness he found out, he realized too late that he still loved her and that she had his heart… and so he decided. It was a few weeks later that he would act out his plan. If she would steal and take something that was his, even if she hadn’t meant to at first, he would steal and take something what was hers.

It was during one of her night parties that her whole family was invited to, and he had feigned illness. He acted the part of an sick man, though he did not have to fake an emotion-dead smile. This was enough to make Sandra, who didn’t like the idea of being followed by a walking disease, let him stay. To him who had access to almost all the rooms, it was easy to go in and take many valuables hiding in a small bag. And though it was a long shot, he was even able to convince Lapis Lazuli to come with him, not that it was hard. The Vaporeon trusted him quite a lot, especially since he had taken just as much care of the Vaporeon as Sandra, and he was really a good Pokemon. He didn’t want the friendly Pokemon to be used and abused by Sandra. The fact she valued him didn’t pass his mind either.

When the Emmels came back that night, they found their house a ghost of its formerly beautiful self. Windows were cracked, furniture was broken, and many of their valuables gone. All of their servants were either not there or knocked out; the only thing the latter would remember was getting struck at the back of the head and falling unconscious. A few ways from their house, a swordsman by the name of Cadmund would find the long sword that he flaunted in front of the others, a family heirloom that was almost priceless, gone.

And of the servant Caele? He was nowhere to be found. They found his room in shambles. His room was actually the most destroyed place in the house, and it showed signs of battle. There were also red stains on the floor that looked so much like blood that they couldn’t bear to stay in the room for long. They would never have realized that it was only blood of the Grumpig they were supposed to roast in one of their parties and not Caele’s own.

In truth, Caele had stowed away onto a small boat, which he had prepared a few days before. It was his luck that Rust Burrow, which would have become Rustboro City, was located near a beachside that drew little attention. On foot, they had a chance of finding out his ruse. On sea, that possibility was almost zilch.

After a week on sea, he had realized that he didn’t really think his plan through. What had he gained? Sure, he still had Saihx, who he brought with him, and Lazuli, who didn’t leave his side even after many tries. And he had loads of valuables on him on his boat. However, he didn’t feel any better than when he found out about Sandra’s true nature. He hated to admit it, but he still loved her. And he hated it. He hated his emotions. They just brought him a lot of pain.

Caele’s small craft would later be found by a large ship just as he was beginning to eat the last of his food, shared with the Mightyena and Vaporeon with him.

They brought him up and were quite entranced by the valuables he had on him. Of course, for one reason or another, Caele couldn’t seem to part with it, so he threatened anyone that would go near it death and more. One of the crewmembers, whether a joke or not, suddenly said if he wanted to keep them, he might as well give them one of his hands, or maybe one of his fingers. He wouldn’t have been able to defend his…treasure against such a large group anyway.

Caele, however, seemed to take this seriously. Taking a knife that he had kept for many years, even when he was still living on the farm, he cut off his left pinky finger. He wrapped his hand in a cloth that he kept, and then threw it towards them, saying that they could have it.

This obviously stunned most of the people into silence. Then someone came up to him offered him the job as the ships Treasure Keeper. With a skeptical eyebrow, though realizing he really had nothing to lose anymore, he accepted.

Skills:
As said in the history, he is well-trained with a sword. Being a servant, he had also been trained to hide his presence so that he would no disturb anyone with his imposing features, and he can sit still for hours like a statue. After living with nobles for about six years, he also has an eye for appraisal. Though he doesn’t show it, he actually does know how to act with proper manners and etiquette. As a farm boy, he also knows a bit on land and Pokemon care.

Ship:
The Voracious Curiosity

Job:
Treasure Keeper

Other:
He found out during his time as a servant that he loves steak.

Azur twitched. Right after his fateful, ah, "bump" into Pyra, he had apparently been found by Galic completely knocked out smack-dab in the middle of the hallway. Being the father figure that he was, the MachGaogamon had taken him up to his room. Azur really hoped no one saw him passed out or being carried. With the luck he's been having, it was unlikely.

He couldn't help but be paranoid. He knew quite a few who would hold it over his head. He bit back a garbled shout when he felt a hand on his shoulder and restrained himself from jumping away.

He sighed in relief when he saw that the owner of the hand belonged to Tyr. At least he wasn't likely to insult him...on purpose. He raised his eyebrow at the curious light in the VictoryGreymon’s eyes.

“Hey, Zur. I've been meaning to ask you something,” Tyr told him, causing his heartbeat to speed up. Good god, did he see him in his unconscious state? Or worse, see his humiliating meeting with Pyra? He contemplated whether running right then and there would seem just too much of an overreaction. Tyr opened his mouth again before Azur could decide.

“I know it's none of my business, but, as his friend, I'm curious... what happened to Dunk to make him so afraid of water?”

Immediately, Azur’s fear of humiliation and embarrassment were dashed away by a guarded wariness for his brother.

“Back on the boat when he was huddled in a corner… I've never seen anyone so scared of something. I promise I won't talk to him about it. I just don't wanna upset him again." Azur had hoped that the event had passed his mind, and it would have been the end of it. He gave the dragonman a scrutinizing look.

Tyr looked at him with eyes of worry and concern not unlike the ones usually worn by his own face. Azur knew that this was sincere. In fact, if Dunk would have made one friend with anyone in the group, Tyr was one among the two people that he would have wanted him to be close with. At the moment, he refused to think of the name of the other nominee. He sighed. Maybe it would be okay. The VictoryGreymon meant well, afterall.

As he opened his mouth to narrate the memory, he closed his eyes as he remembered that day. They were only in their adult levels, then, and Galic had introduced them to the sea.

--

The MachGaogamon was asked to search, locate and vanquish a rogue Digimon that dwelt in the local waters and terrorized a small port. Dunk, however, wanted to learn how to swim, unaffected by the porters’ advice to stay away from the sea. His brother never did learn from hearing other people’s experiences. He had to experience it himself…unfortunately. Spurned, or rather, dragged by his brother to a nearby beach, Azur had just decided to watch his brother’s splashing, jumping and playing that the then Dobermon liked to call ‘learning how to swim’.

He could vividly remember what the scene looked like. The sun was just beginning to set, painting the sky with hues of lazy purples, gentle pinks, gay yellows, cheery oranges, all centered around a deep red and hazy sphere. There was barely a cloud in the sky that day. The water was calm, softly rippled Dunkelheit’s enthusiastic splashing. Even though he was only playing by himself, Azur could tell by the joyful expression on his face that he was having the time of his life; they didn’t get to stay anywhere near bodies of water before. Azur himself was enjoying the peace and the music of his twin brother’s child-like laughter. He couldn’t help but fall asleep just lying there on the warm sand of the beachside. It was just perfect.

…too perfect…

He shouldn’t have fallen asleep that day. He shouldn’t have let his ever-constant guard down. He should have learned his lesson so long ago when he and his brother were attacked by that Minotarumon. He should have seen the worryingly dark silhouette in the water. He should have seen it rushing towards his brother. He should have yelled for Dunk to get out of the water, to watch out, anything!

Instead, he woke up to the sounds of his Dunk’s frantic screams. He had seen his brother get dragged under the water by white tentacles all connected to one blue body. He had tried to swim towards his brother, but with his strength sapped from swimming the distance from the beach to his brother, he was easily slapped away right out of the water. In the air, he was able to see his panic-stricken face reflected in the water. Underneath, he was able to a pair of deep red eyes, looking at him malevolently. Struggling and barely over the water surface, he was able to see his brother’s wide, terror filled eyes and pained face. That image had been burned into his mind right before his back met the hard side of a boulder and he blacked out.

Azur had woken up the next day on a clinic bed with his brother, bandaged and unconscious, on a bed opposite his. Galic had heard their cries and was able to save Dunk from the very creature he was tasked to destroy, a vile MarinDevimon, in the nick of time. But a nick of time wasn’t enough to save any of them from any of the twins from emotional scarring. Dunk didn’t remember anything of that event, but random recollections that came and gone. He had gained a deep-rooted fear of water with origins the Dobermon didn’t know of.

To Azur, this was the saddest. He would never hear the sound of Dunk’s laughter accompanied by his paws splashing on water ever again.

--

With a ducked head, Azur opened his eyes and surprised himself when he found two small tears sitting on his eyes. He blinked once more, allowing the liquid manifestations of his regret and pain to fall down and splash pitifully onto the ground.

He let out a sigh and turned back to Tyr, who had been listening silently as he told his story. “Please…watch over him,” Azur said before continuing to walk along with the others as he looked around for the other character in his brother.

He found Dunk bouncing about with an enthusiastic grin on his face. He was playfully head butting Nocchi to move faster.

--

Galic couldn't deny it. He was definitely intrigued. The humans? Strong? The ones that they have seen were always helpless against the force known as the Royal Knights and its coalition of allies. Even the ones that could so call "Bio-Merge" could barely stand up to them. But unlike most of the others, he was sure, he was more curious than skeptical. As much as he didn't like to admit it, it did sound impossible, or at the very least highly improbable. However, improbably still meant a possibility. He looked ahead of him and decided to ask their leader.

He flew up beside him and asked, “So, may I ask, what is your take on these…Chosen Ones?”

Galic looked onto the horizon. “I am slightly interested in them. Perhaps it’s the warrior in me, but I find myself wanting to test their strength myself. Though, I wonder what their take on us will be, as well.”

After listening to him for a while, Galic slowed down, wanting to check on his charges. He smiled a little when he found Azur talking with Tyr.

Pyra flew up beside the Galic and gave a friendly nod to the MachGaogamon. "Hi, Galic. It seems like ages since we last talked, but it's really only been a day or so."

She outstretched her wings and relaxed them in her flight, going at a pace level with Galic. "I was impressed with your MirageGaogamon form. It was really something," she said with a slight smile.

Galic gave her a smile. "Thank thee, milady," he said, bowing in his ever-polite way while flying in the air. "And long it has felt indeed. I feel like I've matured many years in but only a single day." He gave her a sly look. "I trust my apprentices have been behaving?"

He let out a low chucle when she blushed lightly.

She turned to Galic and her face tinted red slightly. "Err... I have a question... Did Dunk... tell you anything about me and Azur? I think he saw something last night and thought-..." she trailed off, her face considerably more red than it was before.

Pyra faced forwards and focused on the landscape until blood in her face levelled out. "Also... I have another question. About Azur... I noticed that everytime I try to speak to him he first turns bright red and becomes barely comprehensible then he says 'somebody is calling him' or he 'needs to go' and then he runs off. I thought nothing of it until last night when Dunk said that we... -err- had a..." Pyra coughed uncomfortably. "...'special relationship'."

She willed herself to look at Galic. "Does he do that for everybody or just me? I just don't want to get the wrong idea and potentially embarrass him or myself. I figured I'd ask you since you know him best, next to Dunk, but he's... well... Dunk," she said with a grin. The Paildramon eyed Galic, awaiting an answer expectantly.

Galic couldn't help but grin. He tucked away this piece of information for some other time. "To answer your first question, as a matter of fact, yes. But only that he saw you and Azur playing together, which I assumed was just a sparring session, though now it seems like more happened. Dunk tells me many things, but it is usually about his day, not that I don't want to listen, mind you," he said, eyeing her with a mysterious smile.

"As for Azur..." Galic looked down at the WereGarurumon. "Well, he has always been an easily disgruntled person when it comes to women and children. He's a real softie despite his tough exterior. It's quite easy for him to embarrassed by the attentions of a young and pretty lady such as yourself," he said, winking at her mischievously.

"If I am to be honest, he does frequently turn red when around ladies. Though, by the way he acts, he seems to be a lot easier, ah, flushed around you." The emotion on his face turned from playful to affectionate. "In fact, you may very well be Azur's closest lady friend he has ever had. He may just not know how to act around you. But I do know that Azur, for all his gruff manners, is someone who always tries to act true to his heart."

He gave Pyra yet another mysterious look. "Mayhap I should also tell you that Dunk is quite an observant person, despite his lack of attention. Though, rather, it's more like a lack of interest. I'd say he's as observant than me, possibly even more. He notices the little actions of people, but usually thinks nothing of them until something of fascination comes to him. The way he words them can be rather peculiar at times, but if you can understand him, his observations usually have a grain of truth in them more often than not. I believe he has been telling me all about these special relationships that people have. He has strangely been grouping together relationships of close friendship and relationships of lovers, but I can't blame him. He is still quite the innocent Dobermon I met many years ago."

He looked away, looking closely at Pyra peripherally. "Though I wonder, just what did Dunk mean between the special relationship between you and Azur?" he asked, leaving the question hanging in their presence.

Pokemon:
Species:
Mightyena

Nickname:
Saihx (pronounced Sai-hex)

Personality:
Saihx is loyal to a fault and, like his master, wary of anything that moves suspiciously. He is actually very observant of his surroundings, being able to his senses of sight, smell, and hearing to the fullest in most situations. He also has a guarddog demeanor, something Caele trained him to have since he was a pup, and tends to bark and growl that approaches him and his ward when he’s on work-mode. In fact, he can even be called territorial by the way he paces and gives everyone warning glares. Saihx is also very protective of those that gain his trust, especially of Caele, and isn’t afraid to challenge anyone or anything if it meant protecting them. However, like Caele, it isn’t an easy task to actually get him to like someone, human or otherwise. He does, however, have a friendly side that only Caele has seen. When he’s feeling playgul, he often head butts Caele on the leg or lick him affectionately. Concerning other people he is still suspicious of, he is only nice to those that Caele signals him is okay. Of course, he only does this when Caele doesn’t put him to work helping him keep track and guard of the treasure.
Moveset:
Odor Sleuth / Swagger / Taunt / Thief / Sucker Punch / Ice Fang / Fire Fang / Thunder Fang
*Auric’s attacks are oriented to basically safeguard and take treasure. Sleuth to make sure everything’s complete or to know whether an enemy has something, Swagger, Taunt, Thief and Sucker Punch to make taking treasure easier, while the fang attacks are remnants of Auric’s careful breeding

Species:
Vaporeon

Nickname:
Lapis Lazuli

Personality:
Lazuli isn’t exactly the smartest apple in the bunch. A bit of an airhead, he is really friendly and affectionate towards everyone. He’s actually quite prone to pounce on someone unexpectedly and smother them with wet licks, which sometimes results in him being dragged to Caele and scolded like a naughty cub. Unlike Saihx, Caele allows him to roam around the ship; he doesn’t really do well as a guard. He is too easily distracted by shiny objects. When he sees anything that glitters, he will give it chase. If it doesn’t move, then it’s all the better for him for he’ll just grab it in his jaws. Not really knowing any better, he often hides the things he collects under Caele’s bed, which Caele will promptly give back to the owner (if the owner asks for it), and Lazuli will promptly try to take it back. He does have a bit of a possessive streak in him as he gets a bit aggressive when Caele tries to take his ‘findings’ in his presence. It becomes one big cycle, since Caele has a difficult time trying to teach him to heel. Oftentimes Caele will also send him into the sea to find sunken treasure. With an eye for gold, Lazuli usually comes back with something, which Caele then informs the captain and sends Lazuli to get as much as he can.

Moveset:
Quick Attack / Bite / Aurora Beam / Aqua Ring / Acid Armor / Hydro Pump / Aqua Tail / Dive
*Lazuli is usually sent to search for treasure underwater.

Hurray, someone signing up for a ship other than the Voracious Curiosity. Accepted, welcome aboard.

Whoo, a completely new character that I don't usually create. This'll be fun...

Pending. If you don't mind, just increase your Pokemon personalities a bit more.

Whether I mind or not, I'm still going to have to do it, hehe.

It's been editted. I hope it's alright now.

I've been watching this, thinking, 'I'd like to, but I probably shouldn't... but it would be fun... nah... ah, whatever, let's give it a shot!' I want to be captain of the Voracious Curiosity. But, I do have a request. I want to use a shiny Eevee named Grog, because his whole character concept is that of a rough and tough pirate in the form of a cute Pokemon. He has a ruby earring in one ear and wears a kerchief with skull and crossbones. Besides, he'd be a treasure too, right?

So here's a sample typical of what I do as a reservation...

“Gardevoir, come to the party,” Alexandria insisted.

‘I don’t want to be at your stupid party,’ she retorted.

Fifteen minutes into the tea party, Alexandria was still arguing with her Pokemon about getting out of the sun. Gardevoir showed no inclination to leave her seat on the stairway wall, despite it being the hottest part of the day. The other kids were taking advantage of the situation, ignoring everything about the party save for the cookies, cakes, and milk.

One of them was getting uncomfortable with the argument though. “You shouldn’t bug your Pokemon like that,” he said. “If she’s going to be stubborn, just recall her.”

The birthday girl just stomped her foot. “She’s my Pokemon; she’s going to do what I tell her. And I’m going to make sure she remembers that from now on.”

‘Leave me alone.’

“No, you’re coming over here...”

‘No!’ There was a quick red glow around her hand, then she threw a fireball at the group. It hit the table, catching the cloth on fire. Screaming, the kids jumped back, knocking over the table and chairs. One ran into a tent pole hard enough to knock it out of place. It crashed down, soon catching on fire as well.

Alexandria had gotten out of the way before the tent fell on top of her. Furious now, she stormed up to Gardevoir. “Bad Pokemon! You have to obey me now!”

‘**** it, I don’t care about you!’ She attacked her with Shadow Rush several times in a row. ‘You’re a stupid worthless Trainer! And ugly to boot. I won’t listen to you!’

Gardevoir shoved her into the back wall of the Pre-Gym, knocking Alexandria unconscious.

-Evening, Pyrite

The news played on the large TV. “We have a report that a firebomb went off in the middle of Phenac City this afternoon. Sources tell us that eco-terrorists targeted the Delfino family, in particular the daughter, to make a public statement about their existence.”

“Eco-terrorists?” The older resident shook his head. “Are they trying to keep this place a desert? They won’t find much sympathy here.”

Thunder rumbled overhead.

“Heat thunder again,” he said.

His wife went over to the window. When she’d last been out, the sky had been clear as the sun started to set. Now, with it halfway over the horizon, said sun spilled brilliant red rays over a heavy buildup of clouds. Electricity flashed in the clouds. Then the deluge started.

“Flash flood possibly,” she corrected.

As most people raced to get indoors, two men and two Pokemon stood on the rooftop of an office building. Miror B owned the building; Ein was there to observe the plan in action. The former was under an overhang while the latter had a large umbrella made of clear plastic. “In this area, regular Pokemon can only make Rain Dance work within a twenty-foot radius, and that’s if they’re Water-type,” Ein stated, holding his hand out to the rain. “Yet, these two can cover the entire city.”

“Magnificent,” Miror B replied. “I just wish they wouldn’t growl like that constantly.”

The two Pokemon in question could not be mistaken for any other. Standing six and a half feet tall to their shoulders, Raikou and Suicune were impressive, intimidating if one wasn’t expecting them. Beyond that, something wasn’t quite right with them either. They both had dark looks to their eyes, pacing like hungry predators. And they both had full-bodied low growls, that they tended to do at the exact same time.

“That’s why you must keep the crystal on you at all times,” Ein said. “Otherwise, they would be too difficult to control. Are you ready?”

“Of course.” He brought out a business card and held it out to Raikou. The Pokemon reacted as if he were going to bite off the hand with the card, but restrained himself. “This belongs to Madam Fateen. Raikou, we need her out of the picture.”

“Rrrrrrrrrr.”

Ein added, “Suicune, you cover for him. Don’t get caught.”

“Rrrrrrrrr.” They glared at each other, then took off across the rooftops of Pyrite.

-posted on K. Grid, evening

‘I was at that tea party. They said that eco-terrorists firebombed us. That’s not true: Alexandria was antagonizing her new Gardevoir. The Pokemon snapped and attacked her. She’s in the hospital, in pretty bad shape. I didn’t hear what happened to the Gardevoir

‘I think she’s a Shadow Pokemon.’

I do want to take some time on the sign-up. If I'm using Grog, I have to adjust his pirate Trainer to fit this setting.

Handy?

It's that one guy
Sure, I'd be happy to accept your reservation as the Voracious Curiosities captain. And the Shiny Eevee is fine, but just beware that you might have to be careful about showcasing it too much. With the large flooding of the world, the amount of shiny land dwelling Pokemon will have decreased quite a bit, so any pirate not on your ship would probably fight quite hard to steal it from your character. And take your time, it's not like I'm exactly being flooded with sign ups.

Hmmm....

I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally want to join, but I'd like to ask something important first. Would it be okay to make a character who either A.) Is of a totally different Job than the options, or B.) Both a Doctor and a Pokemon Co-ordinator (seeing as they both deal with medicines)?

EDIT: Also, when you talk about HM moves, are you referring to Pokemon who learn attacks by leveling up automatically know them (ie. Seaking's Waterfall), or any Pokemon who can learn them? Also, does the ability to fly, surf, etc count as an attack?

EDIT AGAIN: Is it possible for a Pokemon to know a TM move if it was stolen from the Aquas (because they likely brought some back with them.)

Mass pronoun and name confusion ahoy! hehe. So I tried to make a colorful character for captain...

Name: Meredith/Matthias Fisher/Crest
Age: 43
Sex: Female
Hometown/Area: on the southeastern coast of Kanto, Edgewater Village

Appearance: Meredith has spent all of her adult life masquerading as a man, so we’ll use that as a reference here, okay? Crest stands at 5’5”, is broad shouldered, and somewhere on the slender side of muscular. He has darkly tanned skin which is quite rough, especially his hands. With he does have some feminine traits (some curviness around the hips mostly) it gives him more of a gender-neutral look than a feminine-guy look. And on reference to actually being a woman, she has a small chest which is quite easily disguised with the right clothing.

The lack of any noticeable facial hair, while being a sign of Crest’s true gender, is often brushed off as merely a family ‘curse’. He has a square shaped face that is framed by short maple brown hair that’s showing some gray (but no receding). He has black eyes, nothing ultra mysterious or mystical, just plain old black. His squarish nose is a little bent out of shape from being broken a few too many times in fist fights. And he has somewhat large eyebrows.

Obviously, Crest wears men’s clothing. When he’s on board the ship, he’s a practical dresser: brown leather boots, brown pants, simple shirt with a vest (to detract from obvious female signs) in warm weather, simple shirt with brown overcoat in cold weather, and a blue-gray hat with a broad rim. When he’s on land or needs to impress someone, he breaks out clothes that would suit a nobleman: ruffled shirts, ornate red overcoat, classier looking pants, shiny black boots, and a larger red hat that usually has some feather in it. He always carries a pistol with him, a relatively simple but high quality model.

Crest’s left leg is weak, from a gunshot wound a few years back. He walks with a cane now, a sturdy oak cane finished with a dark brown coat and a gold topper. It doubles as a good club in a fight. To be honest, sometimes he plays up the injury as more of a handicap than it is. He can walk and even climb for a short while without the cane, although putting much weight on it will hurt a lot. But especially around strangers, Crest acts like he is heavily reliant on the cane. Then they make the mistake of believing him to be an easy target, which can lead to them being easy targets for mugging by Crest.

Personality: Crest is a career focused woman, like one found in modern times working in an office, except, ya know, the whole part about her career being piracy and exploring by the seas. Her whole life centers around the ship and its mission, to explore new lands and see things that have never been seen before. As you may guess, she’s a workaholic and a perfectionist, double and triple checking numbers, maps, and data before setting a plan in stone. When it comes to her crew, she treats them with respect, but expects dedication and loyalty. Someone who doesn’t work hard enough will be punished, maybe even dropped off on shore and left behind. And someone who dares betray her might find themselves killed.

That being said, she is audacious. The things she plans are daring; not just in taking months in long treks into uncharted waters, but also in revenge plots when the Aqua Empire crosses her path. She has been known to make bold boasts, but then to back them up with a smile on her face. In return, she’ll make others prove that their boasts are real, even when those boasts are made when under the influence of alcohol. And outside her crew, anyone, even royalty, will have to earn her respect.

She has her crewmen, and her Pokemon are quite close to her. That being said, it’s debatable on whether she has any true friends. She keeps herself guarded, partly because of her lifelong ruse of being a man, but partly because she knows how quickly people can betray others. Treasure and greed is a large fuel for betrayal, so she’s always a target for attack. At some points, she does wish that she could find romance and get married… but then she knows that she doesn’t want to be some quiet housewife, so she feels that marriage is very unlikely to happen to her.

While the treasure is great and an excellent indicator of her success, Crest most values discovery, exploration, and possibility. If the Aquas are to be taken down, she most wants to see the great landmasses return. A world that was only seven islands and all sea beyond would be very boring indeed. In most cases, the end justifies the means, although she does draw a line somewhere. Given that she’s willing to execute a person for the right reasons, that line is hard to define.

History: Meredith Fisher was born into a fisherman’s family, a commoner. Her parents had nine children together total, although five of them died due to drowning, illnesses, and generally a hard life. Being in low class family, she was involved at an early age in sail repairs, net and rope making, general housekeeping, and cleaning fish for eating. She didn’t mind that, provided she liked the person who was giving her orders. Being a girl, she was expected to keep her head down, marry at a young age, stay at Edgewater her whole life, and generally be obedient. She was going to have none of that.

Her father obviously considered that rebellion a bad thing and was stricter on her than the family’s other daughters. Her mother was secretly on her side, although she agreed with her husband when he was around. She did want to make sure that Meredith didn’t become a woman of a completely bad reputation, and so had her not only attend church, but also aide the aging priest (known primarily as Father Crest) with upkeep of the church building. In this, the young girl gained some extra skills in reading and writing, although always in a religious context.

When she was nine, a rough storm forced a merchant ship to dock near Edgewater for repairs, at least enough to hold it together to a bigger port. Seeing that she didn’t have much of a chance of getting out of the fishing community otherwise, Meredith and her mother conspired to have her join the merchant’s ship. After changing into some of her older brother’s clothes, she went up and convinced the captain that she was a boy named Matthias Fisher, ‘he’ was twelve years old, and he wanted to sail in more places than just Kanto’s shores. Being literate helped, and so Matthias was accepted as a cabin boy.

Being a cabin boy was not a pleasant job. She had to clean the ship’s halls, help in the kitchen, repair nets and ropes, do the laundry, take care of wastes, and accept a pitiful pay. And the other two cabin boys didn’t like the newcomer and often set out to beat him up. But it was away from Edgewater and nobody treated her like some worthless girl. Worthless boy maybe, but at the time, that was an improvement. Matthias took to the task in earnest, learning ship specific skills, watching trade negotiations, training herself to beat the other two cabin boys up instead, and picking up map reading skills.

The captain, a jolly man by the name of Arnold Whittaker eventually did notice that the boy Matthias was showing more brains than the other two cabin boys, who were all about brawn. Captain Whittaker then took him as a half-servant half-apprentice, teaching him about numbers as well as letters. Matthias was also allowed to help out in better positions, learning how the tiller worked, how to adjust the sails, how mapmakers did their work, how to work with the ship’s Pokemon, how to navigate by the stars. Maybe most important of all, he learned how to work with people and get their respect.

And then adolescence struck. Fortunately for Meredith’s ruse, she developed a small chest and a boyish figure. Captain Whittaker figured it out, though. He was more amused by the situation than anything and asked her if she really wanted to continue a sailor’s life. For if she was going to be on the seas for months at a time when she had to deal with the monthlies, it was going to be a hard ruse to keep. But Meredith was adamant about staying as Matthias. Between them, they figured out ways to keep the rest of the crew from finding out.

However, around the time that she turned fourteen, her relationship with the Captain changed. He started trying to use her secret against her, dropping not so subtle hints that he wanted to her to drop the ruse and marry her. But that would require her becoming more womanly and less outspoken. Unlike her arguments with her father, though, Meredith was in a really bad spot. If the Captain revealed her true identity to the all male crew while they were out on one of their longer routes, well, the result wouldn’t be too kind on her. So she jumped ship at the next dock and joined another crew.

The second ship she was on had a very strict captain, who was constantly complaining about trade and ship taxes, laws for the sea not made by those of the sea, and customer complaints. While Matthias did manage to work his/her ways up through the ranks to second mate, he found himself being constantly badgered for perfection and exactness. Those traits still remain with him/her today.

And then the same problem happened; one of the crewmen figured out she was a girl and tried to use that to his advantage. He didn’t have quite as much clout or wit as Whittaker, though, so Meredith was able to string him along for a little while without giving in to his demands. But then he threatened blackmail and she was nearly in deep trouble.

Fortunately, pirates struck. A ship called Ardent Arrow snuck up on the merchant ship in the dead of night and forced the crew to hand over their goods. Meredith managed to introduce herself as Matthias Crest and asked to join their crew instead. The pirate captain, who only called himself Ruthless, said that he’d only agree to it if she would kill to prove her intentions. So she killed the guy who knew her secret and thus was accepted as a pirate.

She then had to work hard to prove herself all over again, winning and losing scuffles with shipmates, steering the ship, taking inventory of the group’s weaponry and Pokemon, learning to cheat at poker, and many miscellaneous tasks. When on shore leave, she even had to prove her ‘manliness’ by wooing girls. She went ahead and did it, although the times she was successful (which, oddly enough, was more often than her fellow pirates), she merely walked the girl home and advised her to be more careful around men of the sea. She eventually got Ruthless’ respect and earned herself her first personal Pokemon, a Skarmory that had been trained as a scout… and therefore named Scout. Crest took him as a coworker and treated him with a good amount of respect.

However, the crew of the Ardent Arrow was a mess. Some of the men were simple thugs, others avoided work whenever they could, and there were constant fights over treasure. Crest was witness to no less than nine mutinies in one year against Captain Ruthless. And true to his name, Ruthless dealt with the problem by executing the traitors and throwing their corpses overboard, only to hire more troublemaking thugs at the next port. By the time she turned sixteen, Crest was second on the Ardent Arrow in terms of seniority as well as being the first mate.

Not only was he violent, but Ruthless drunk heavily when he was at port, and hid a vast store of alcohol in his cabin. Crest often suspected that ‘Matthias’ was the only decent and hardworking member of the crew. She liked the freedom of the ship, though, being able to explore, not constrained to trade routes, goods, taxes, and laws. However, Ruthless only ever wanted to raid ships, yell at everybody on board, and drink. But knowing him, she bided her time for two whole years.

Then she got a chance. They had managed a successful raid against a wealthy spice trader, which included some very pricy bottles of high-class wine. Among the crew, she had a handful of men that she trusted, as she had used her position as first mate to gain some decent sailors among the crew. Crest was given charge of taking inventory, but she turned a blind eye to some members snatching a case of the wine. That night, when the captain and much of the crew was out drunk, Crest and her trusted men dumped them on the docks, informed the authorities of where the pirates were, and slipped off with the Ardent Arrow. Ruthless and his men were executed a couple of weeks later, while Captain Crest set off as the new owner of the pirate ship.

Using Ruthless as a bad example of captaining, Crest was more careful in choosing her crew and her targets. Her primary dreams were exploring and discovering new lands. Maybe not fully a pirate’s dream, but she had no problem with using piracy as a means to an end. She had no illusions of getting mercy from the justice system of King Sebastian either. Indeed, she felt it a great thrill to be a freelance pirate and loved it.

And she had also gotten closer to her Skarmory Scout. He often made her smile and could always be counted on. When her authority was challenged, Scout always backed her up, fighting for her safety. She appreciated this in him; he helped her feel more confident and bold in facing up to these challengers. So Scout became a friend more than a coworker, and Crest came to have greater respect for any Pokemon. But she held the greatest respect for the people and Pokemon that made up part of her crew.

However, the Ardent Arrow was not the best of ships. It was quite old, the hold was small, it was slow, and there were rumors it was a cursed ship (at best, a lemon). When it got badly damaged in a fire set by desperate merchant captain, Crest wasn’t inclined to repair it. Instead, she and her crew took a break and commissioned a new ship by selling a great deal of their treasures. Claiming that it was going to be a pirate hunting ship, Crest got one of the best ship making crews to make the ship that she really wanted to captain. This build crew included an eccentric inventor that came up with the sophisticated lock system on the special storage room. And thus, the Voracious Curiosity was crafted.

The ship and its captain have accumulated quite a number of legends over the year. Some see them as admirable explorers, while others say that they are still pirates. Crest has had a number of close calls with the authorities, other pirates, and sometimes even ambitious members of her crew. So far, she’s managed to pull through just fine.

There is also the issue of her being a woman. Although she’s careful, never getting drunk enough to become careless, she sometimes gets identified by Pokemon. Or by members of her crew who stick around long enough to suspect something about her schedule. But she has made it quite clear that she won’t take nonsense from anybody about becoming more feminine, or being less of an authority figure because of being female. And her crew has learned to respect that, helping her keep the masquerade when on land and addressing her as ‘sir’.

There is an in-joke on the ship that you’re not allowed to know that the truth about the captain until you’ve been on board for at least a year, though.

Then Team Aqua came, and with them came great changes. For one thing, although the leader was a man, he had a woman directly beneath him in the chain of command. And the other women in Aqua weren’t going to put up with being demoted to fit in with this era’s philosophy. They brought with them technology like guns, telescopes, cannons, medicines, and the bra. This arrangement brought about women’s equality, or at least a close form of it, about four hundred years before it was supposed to happen. And it also did away with the corset as a fashionable necessity, for which a lot of women were grateful for.

While Captain Crest greatly appreciated these things Aqua brought with them, the resulting flooding of the world, rearranging of islands, and super-strict authoritarianism was not so good. Newer members of the crew were escaping Aqua’s reach or branded unfairly as criminals. Crest wasn’t ready to take a stance on them yet, and has been avoiding aligning with anybody. She doesn’t want her exploring to be controlled any further than it is (she has some investors, after all) and doesn’t want to be taxed.

This indecisiveness was further compounded by a rather unfortunate accident. About six years ago, the Curiosity came to Port Laurel on Virgo Island, to restock and give everyone some shore leave. While on land, Crest encountered a group of Aqua enforcers in a bar. One of them was boasting about how the Pokemon egg he had received had hatched just that morning with a gray-colored Eevee. The pirate captain was quite interested, as such Pokemon were rarities. She chatted her way into the group, bought the Eevee’s owner a couple of drinks, and played some poker with him. Eventually, she managed to get him to bet his Pokemon. As he was drunk, he didn’t notice her cheating and she won the Eevee.

But before she claimed the prize, the other enforcers got angry with the result. There was an argument, which was followed by a violent bar fight. Crest wound up shot in the leg, shattering her femur. She could have easily died from that wound, but a local doctor decided to work on her. Using technology and training from Aqua, he was able to save her life.

Then the local leader of he enforcers came into the doctor’s home to get a statement from those injured in the bar fight. Crest took that opportunity to bluff, saying that she was just a woman who happened to be in the bar when the fight broke out and that the enforcers had started it. One of her crewmen, who hadn’t been as injured as she was, supported her story and managed to get some others to agree with it the next morning. Crest still didn’t want the doctor to get in trouble, so she had him kidnapped. Sort of, as he agreed to go along with it.

She was bedridden while her bones healed, but she didn’t let that stop her. She maintained her position as Captain the whole time and managed to get a measure of revenge against the enforcers by anonymously setting their base ablaze. Not long after, she got the Curiosity adjusted to carry cannons and ordered her crew to learn to use Aqua’s guns. They were quite effective weapons, after all.

Skills: She knows how to do a variety of jobs on the ship (although her bad leg prevents her from doing a lot of it), as well as manage finances. She is literate, has some cartography skills, and has some religious knowledge. But most of the things she knows about, she won’t be as good in as someone more dedicated to the job. Except the finances. She’s really good at finances and budgeting resources.

Ship: Voracious Curiosity
Job: Captain
Other: The Ardent Arrow had a naked woman on the prow of the ship. The Voracious Curiosity does not. Make a guess as to why.

Also, most people would address her as Captain Crest, Crest, or sir. Her crewmen can call her Matthias if they feel comfortable with it. Almost no one calls her Meredith, as most people don't know her original name.

RPG Sample: I did that a few posts up, but I'll make another one if you like.

Pokemon:

Species: Skarmory
Nickname: Scout
Personality: Scout is stoic, a hard worker, and quiet. He can stand as still as a statue for long periods of time and often does this to keep an eye on the crew. Trying to appear dignified, he hates getting embarrassed (it’s one of the few ways to get him to lose his temper). In then end, though, he was trained by pirates and is likely to attack an outsider that Crest has not introduced him to. He has a deep bond with her and will support and defend her, no matter what. He has a fondness for lemons.

Scout’s most important duty is flying around as a scout, searching for new land or other ships. He has a brand of an arrowhead on his forehead, so he’s easily identified by the crew when he lands.

Moveset: Fly, Swift, Agility, Metal Sound, Steel Wing, Air Slash, Slash, Night Slash (he’s expected to be ale to defend himself well while on scouting missions)

Making a completely different job from the options would be fine I guess...as long as you approve it with both me and the captain of whatever ship it's on, and it's different enough from the other jobs. And Doctor and Pokemon Co-ordinator are completely different jobs, so short response, no. Any Pokemon who can learn those HMs already have them, and TM moves are just no. Sorry, but I want to keep it that way if I can.

For one thing, although the leader was a man, he had not one but two women who were directly beneath him in the chain of command.

Crest wasn’t ready to take a stance on them yet, but has labeled their ships as potential targets if they happen upon a good situation.

But as she claimed the prize, the other enforcers weren’t happy with the result. There was an argument, which was followed by a violent bar fight. Crest wound up shot in the leg, shattering her femur. She could have easily died from that wound, but a local doctor decided to work on her. Using technology and training from Aqua, he was able to save her life.

Knowing that Aqua would seek to execute her and the doctor, Crest had him kidnapped (although with his acceptance) and the ship took off in the dark of night. She was bedridden while her bones healed, but she didn’t let that stop her. She maintained her position as Captain the whole time and managed to get a measure of revenge against the enforcers by setting their base ablaze. Not long after, she got the Curiosity adjusted to carry cannons and ordered her crew to learn to use Aqua’s guns against them.

While Crest’s focus is still more on exploring, she knows that Aqua is a major problem. But maybe somewhere, there are lands untouched by Kyogre’s flood. There might be people or Pokemon there that could turn the tide and break up Aqua’s metal empire.

Species: Espeon
Nickname: Grog
Personality: Grog can be obnoxious, troublesome, and annoying to other people and Pokemon. He was trained that way by Crest. Since someone might try to steal him for being a different colored Pokemon, she wants to make sure that the thief will come to regret it. Crest does have a secret to getting him to be obedient and quiet, but he’s trained to be that way at a signal only from her. He is quite vain. He believes himself to be the toughest Pokemon ever and growls at anybody who dares call him cute. However, his attempts to be tough make him look silly and comical.
Moveset: Bite, Tail Whip, Growl, Psybeam, Swift, Sand Attack, Quick Attack, Fake Tears
Well, the main issue is the fact that as Captain of the Voracious Curiosity, you should be neutral. Having a bounty on your head from Team Aqua and asking your crew to use their guns against them isn't quite as neutral as needed. Sure, the Curiosity may have one or two involvements, but generlly the point was they wouldn't actively get involved in either side of the war, too caught up in exploring and treasure hunting. (Oh, and when you mentioned that Matt had two female generals, Amber is strangely a boys name in the Manga. Slightly strange, but true.) Your Espeons personality is also a bit too short. I know it's quite a bit to change, but I'll put you down as Pending for now.

Okay, adjusted her history, starting at the arrival of Team Aqua. I took the Espeon out (after thinking about it, I realized having the Skarmory alone is more fitting), but I left the bar fight scene in. I did adjust it so that the enforcers are more likely to get in trouble for starting the fight.

It's gonna be hard to play true nuetral in this, you know? Some of it was just bad wording on my part (like why she chose to have her ship outfitted with cannons). I thought, by the way the RPG's plot was set up, that the VC ship would start neutral and wind up having to choose a side. Anti-Aqua is most reasonable, for getting rid of all the land that could have been explored and for taking complete control of everything. Plus, if you mean to leave a possibility of switching ships if inactivity starts, that would be kind of hard to do if one of the ships is away from the main chain of islands.

And speaking of exploring, what season does the RPG start in? This matters because going to find Sinnoh is an obvious plot hook, but it lies in the north. If it's around winter, the ship likely won't set out until spring.

Okay, fine, but how about the fact that the VC has no Pokemon Coordinator Position (The same holding true for the RI)? Shouldn't that position be on all 3 ships, or filled in as part of the doctor's duties?
