Handy?

It's that one guy
Okay, adjusted her history, starting at the arrival of Team Aqua. I took the Espeon out (after thinking about it, I realized having the Skarmory alone is more fitting), but I left the bar fight scene in. I did adjust it so that the enforcers are more likely to get in trouble for starting the fight.

It's gonna be hard to play true nuetral in this, you know? Some of it was just bad wording on my part (like why she chose to have her ship outfitted with cannons). I thought, by the way the RPG's plot was set up, that the VC ship would start neutral and wind up having to choose a side. Anti-Aqua is most reasonable, for getting rid of all the land that could have been explored and for taking complete control of everything. Plus, if you mean to leave a possibility of switching ships if inactivity starts, that would be kind of hard to do if one of the ships is away from the main chain of islands.

And speaking of exploring, what season does the RPG start in? This matters because going to find Sinnoh is an obvious plot hook, but it lies in the north. If it's around winter, the ship likely won't set out until spring.

Season wise, I'm going to start it in Early Spring, because as you said Winter won't be the easiest time to maneuver your ship through the ocean. I may have some sort of time system in place, I may not. And I see what you mean about the whole siding thing, and probably you'll have to take a side eventually, but starting off at neutral was really one of the main points of the Curiosity. And Accepted, by the by.

Okay, fine, but how about the fact that the VC has no Pokemon Coordinator Position (The same holding true for the RI)? Shouldn't that position be on all 3 ships, or filled in as part of the doctor's duties?
The Pokmeon Coordinator was originally assigned to be a role exclusive to the Faith, along with Supplies man, whereas the Curiosity has Treasure Keeper and Artist, and the Independence's Enforcer and Communicator. The reason for this is the fact that the Faith is the ship that uses only Pokemon for technology pretty much. They generally have more Pokemon aboard, so need someone to keep them all in check, whereas the other ships have different priorities. Maybe the Curiosity would need someone like that, but since that ships full, there's no real need to put it in. Team Aqua wouldn't have a person in role for something as simple as looking after Pokemon, whereas the Faith consider Pokemon as important as humans. Understand what I'm saying?

And awesome Seal of Approval is awesome. All sparkly and red 8D

Alright, if you'd prefer, I could even just switch over to being a member of the Blind Faith instead. Course, that depends on what Yssavryl thinks about having an extra crew member.

Either way, it's up to you folks, and I can easily change her position from the Curiosity to the Faith.

Im correct to assume that sign-ups are still being accepted? If so I might have an SU in the next 3-4 days I have some character ideas I just need to iron them out.

I'm throwing in my lot to be Captain of the Reckless Impatience! But before I start writing my sample, should I complete a Sign Up with it as well? It was unclear in the thread starter.

Eh, I figured I'd go for it.

Name: Richard Sachiel
Age: 42
Sex: Male
Hometown/Area: Originally, Richard was from Slateport City in Hoenn, and he grew up around ships and modern ports. Ever since Celebi pulled Team Aqua back through time, he simply spends shore leave on the closest Aqua friendly island. He has quarters at the Aqua Fortress, but mostly lives on the Reckless Independence.

Appearance: Richard is, quite absolutely, huge. Standing at a massive 6'4” he is surprisingly rather thin for his height. Though he takes great strides to keep a strong physique, the meager meals of sea life have a hard time supporting his hefty metabolism. As such, when he's not wearing heavier clothing, he often appears wiry and stretched out, rather than just plain tall. He likes sun and surf, and his salt worn skin is polished and tanned. Sparse wrinkles are starting to manifest around his eyes and cheeks, giving him an appearance of seniority.

His hair has also suffered due to age and sea, and is fine and silvery. Richard usually keeps it trimmed short, appearing rather formal. His eyes are often squinted, and his long eyelashes make them look like grim black lines. However, they are hazel in color upon closer inspection. Richard's nose is distinctively italian, with a sharp, flat bridge, which compliments his round, yet strong jaw. Being from the future, Richard is sure to take good care of his teeth, so they are often very clean. The captain also sports a thin goatee of a beard, which is light and silvery like his hair, but is darker around the chin.

For clothing, Richard's most prominent article is his opulent longcoat. It is deep blue in color, stretching down to his ankles. It is weathered, but in relatively good condition. The shoulders and elbows are covered in black leather. It has about twelve silver buttons running from the top of the collar down to just below Richard's waist. He keeps the entire coat unbuttoned most of the time. The cuffs are also black leather, with a dirty white trim on the hemming. For the final garnish, Richard has had a large Aqua logo stitched onto the back of the long coat, as a sign of fealty to Matt, but more so, Team Aqua.

Matt enjoys period clothing, as it feels like he's dressing up and getting away with it. As such, he wears a ruffled, white button shirt with a silky cravat to match. His pokeball belt is made of woven black leather, and the buckle and clip are polished wrought iron. His shirt is tucked into his black trousers, which have seam lines stitched up and down them, making a slight vertical striped pattern. The legs of the pants are high, and in compensation he wears high white socks, with honest to goodness buckled shoes to top it off (some of his more cynical crew members find this ridiculous). The crown of the outfit (almost literally), is the simple yet powerful looking admiral's cap he wears on his head. This cap is a deep blue tricorn hat with the Aqua logo on the left hand side.

Personality: There is no negotiating Captain Sachiel's allegiance to the Aqua Empire. His lifelong association with the team drives him to promote the team's well being as far as he can get in one lifetime. As such, he is a very inspired individual, and though he is not outstandingly charismatic all the time, his encouragement is often a source of inspiration to his crew. He often tries to give off a sense of what he calls “old salt”, as a seasoned veteran of the sea. Many younger sailors look up to him not just as a role model for Team Aqua, but as a truly accomplished sailor.

Though Captain Sachiel is not exactly austere, he is very serious about meeting the goals assigned to him. He is not a slave to regulation, and will often try unorthodox methods of winning out in any challenge. As such, he often pushes sometimes hapless crew members to take on roles they aren't entirely comfortable with. Richard is confidant that his sailors are well trained enough to perform the actions he assigns them, and they simply must push themselves. If he sees someone truly struggling, he will sometimes help them, which further endears him to his crew. This does not mean he tolerates slackers, and will often use capital punishment for repeat offenders.

Indeed, while Captain Sachiel is warm and open towards his own crew, he is ruthless to anyone that is not from Team Aqua, and especially dismissive of people who aren't even sailors. When he goes to quell seeds of rebellion, he isn't afraid to make examples and take names. He is mature and intelligent enough to know that he can both use fear and compassion as tools in equal force. He does not manipulate people, and instead uses simple, forwards terms of negotiation to get his way. He usually does, too, except when it comes to promotion. Though Richard is comfortable with his role on the sea, he dreams of becoming an Admin, and does everything in his power to achieve this. He freely expresses his emotions and desires, since he believes that hiding one's intent will only muddle affairs. This doesn't mean he can't contain his anger or disappointment when it is appropriate, but his crew will know it if he is disappointed in them.

On a personal level, Captain Sachiel is an old hand at making friends. He is very caring about those close to him, and enjoys hosting parties aboard the Reckless Independence to both boost crew moral and to make a good impression on delegates. When he is in an entertaining mood, he has a cunning and dry sense of humor, that while never really making people roll with laughter, is often very entertaining. These periods of festivity never last long, as there is always more work to be done aboard the Reckless.

History: Richard Sachiel was born in Slateport, Hoenn, a whole decade before Team Aqua was created. Growing up in a meager seaside sailor's house with his father and mother, Richard had a meager, yet warm childhood. As his father went out to work in the ship yards each day, his mother would wrap him up tight in warm street clothes and send him off with a belly full of eggs to find odd jobs around town. Anything that would help the small family make their way in the bustling town of Slateport. Richard started his gang operations early, and would often swipe small items from the Slateport market.

As technology began to really take off in the world, so did the requirements for even the most simple jobs. Richard initially had no skills operating computers, so when he was twelve, he signed on as a cabin boy for the Hoenn Ferry company. Richard immediately fell in love with the ocean and sailing and would often spend as much time as he could either working in the engine room or up on the bridge, observing how the ship ran. It is from the ferry's captain that Richard learned how to use computers, and run a tight ship. As he grew into his late teens, Richard traveled all over the world, eventually owning apartments in both Lilycove and Slateport. The pay for working on the Ferry only got better as Richard went from cabin boy, to engineer to deck hand, to bridge hand, and eventually, first mate. Seeing how a majority of the sailors on the ferry had pokemon, Richard eventually decided he should get one of his own.

As the Ferry was cruising through open seas one day, Richard was idly fishing off of the side of his ship, when (he thought), the line snagged on something along the bottom. As the line ran out at an alarming rate, he tugged as hard as he could, and was alarmed when a large Krabby burst from the wake of the ship, with the line tangled around it's claws and horns. It took a lot to hoist the pokemon onto the ship, but after freeing the tangled Krabby and feeding it, it became friendly enough for Richard to capture it. Richard became very proud of his new partner and trained it hard, the same way he commanded other sailors aboard the ferry.

Naming the Krabby “Flotsam”, the pokemon became well known as the ship pet. In their down time, the sailors would pit their pokemon in battle, and across the next couple months, Flotsam became well respected in the battling ring. Richard was not surprised at all when the Krabby evolved into a massive Kingler. After this, the strong pokemon often helped the crew move freight that three men alone couldn't handle.

When Richard was twenty, he had his first run in with Team Aqua. On shore leave in Lilycove, Richard witnessed a pokemon theft from one of the many tourist trap hotels in the town. Curious, Richard followed the grunts at a distance, and was even more intrigued as they moved off the shore around a bend in the cove. Using Flotsam to help him climb the sheer cliffs, Richard found the as of yet undeveloped sea side cave where Archie was just setting up shop. At first, the intruder was attacked without a second thought, but when Flotsam defeated five Aqua peons in a row, even Archie took notice. Quickly defeating Richard, Archie then offered the young man a position in the gang, or they would simply take Flotsam and leave him somewhere...remote. Not only did Richard agree to join the team, he admitted he wanted to join the team. He saw Team Aqua as a chance not only to move up in the world, but as a chance to stay close to the sea. Over the next three years, Richard rose through the ranks of the grunts, and was one of Archie's more valuable associates since Richard was capable of smuggling goods between multiple ports in the region, at one point even going as far as Johto.

Richard wanted to prove himself to the gang leader, so when it came to his attention that there was a submarine being fabricated in the Slateport shipyards, a project that his aging father was working on, he seized the opportunity. Promising his father compensation, the older man got Archie and his admins into the sub and away from Slateport just in time before they could be challenged. Unfortunately, Richard was roped into delaying Steven as he made his way to the port, and as such was apprehended by authorities for aiding theft. Stripped of his 1st mate rank and forced to commit to the grimiest levels of public service, Richard thought his life was over. Just as all hope seemed lost, Team Aqua came through for him, rescuing him from his destitute situation and transferring him to a new, underwater location. Given the opportunity to aid in manning the Team's shiny new submarine, Richard settled into his comfortable new life. When the fateful day came that Archie activated Kyogre, Richard was lucky enough to be manning the submarine, and escaped a watery grave.

When Archie fell into the custody of the madhouse, Richard tried his hardest to move up in the ranks, as the Admin Shelly temporarily took over operations of Team Aqua (for about half an hour). But just when he thought that he too would be an Admin, the old boss's heretofore unknown son came into inheriting command of the team. Pushed back into the faceless ranks again, Richard silently fumed at Matthew, wishing only to be recognized for his assistance. As five more years passed however, Richard saw much of Matthew's father in him, and became of his lofty goals. His faith in Team Aqua restored once again, he swore to continue to do as best he could for the Team, regardless of promotion (though the latter part was a lie even to himself).

Privileged with a somewhat higher position after Matthew learned of Richard's worth, Sachiel was lucky enough to be part of Matthew's inner circle. As scouts for Team Aqua trickled back to the Aqua elite, Richard kept tabs of possible options, trying to formulate a master plan so that Matthew might grace him with another promotion. Despite Richard's best efforts, it was eventually Matthew who devised the concept of the Fusion ball, setting in motion the fateful events that lead to the rewriting of history.

In a strange twist of fate, it turns out that one of the ships that Matthew brought back in time with the Team was the very same Ferry that Richard had manned five years ago. The ship was still in good shape, and since Richard was by far the most salted sailor among the ranks of Team Aqua, became Matthew's personal captain. For the short time it took for Matthew to gather the two orbs, Richard was certain that he would be made at least a field Admin, of sorts. But as Matthew turned his attention to maintaining his new empire, Richard eventually was once again left behind. Disappointed but still resolute, Richard began to draw plans for the upgrades of the old ferry, christening it the Reckless Independence. Outfitted with new armor, two large cannon batteries, retrofitted sails and rigging, and even adapting the ship's radar to work without a satellite, the Reckless Independence became a dreadnaught of a ship, rather than a simple passenger ship. Over the next decade, Richard would become one of the most respected captains in the Aqua Empire. Among the feeble inhabitants of the time period, he became one of the most dreaded.

Skills: Since Richard helped raise himself, he can cook, sew, and clean to a limited degree. His time as an engineer made him very familiar with his ship, and knows just how to fix it as well. Though not especially trained in the art of the sword, Richard is an accomplished fist fighter, as brawls from his sailor days trained him to take and give punches.
Ship: The Reckless Independence
Job: Captain
Other: Despite his stern nature, Captain Sachiel will avoid combat if he can. He also prides himself on the fact that he does not use pirate speak. In addition, he does not allow his crew to use pokemon to aid them in most ship oriented activities.

RPG Sample:

Captain Richard Sachiel stood on the bow of his ship, hanging on to a stray line to hang out over the water. In his other hand he held a pair of binoculars. The wooden tub that they were pursuing was about seven miles east of them, but it was sailing into the rising sun, probably on purpose. Normally, they would be able to catch up to the suspect ship in under an hour at full steam, but ever since they started rationing fuel, they couldn't move as fast as they used to. Still, with the sails fully deployed and the engines churning at quarter speed, they'd catch the ship by noon, at the most.

Hoisting himself back on deck, Captain Sachiel trudged up to the bridge of the Reckless Independence. Several sailors snapped a salute to Sachiel, but he waved his hand dismissively. He still wasn't used to the militaristic rigor that Emperor Matthew had imposed upon the men. To him, Team Aqua was still just a Team. But it was not his place to make such judgements, and as long at the boss called for such procedures, he would abide. The sailors were still waiting for his word. With an expressed sigh, Captain Sachiel muttered “at ease”. He then motioned at the chief engineer.

“Can we get any more economy out our engines or sails?” the Captain inquired, keeping his gaze fixed on the horizon. The engineer informed him that they were moving at full bore and sail. The Captain nodded slowly. This would be a test of patience, but the good news was that if that ship didn't slow down after such a long chase, there was a good chance it was the pirates that they were looking for. “Raise the flag.” Richard said quickly. The first mate nodded and relayed the orders through the loudspeaker. On deck, a few hands carried out a large, navy blue flag with the Aqua Empire Logo printed onto it. The flag was massive, a whole fifty square feet, and would easily be visible to the ship that they were pursuing.

Three hours passed, and the Captain decided to leave the pleasantly air conditioned bridge and survey the crew. His polished shoes clanked loudly against the steel steps down to the deck, and several hands looked up as their captain approached. Cocking his hat straight, Captain Sachiel approached the scrubbers, busy putting grit on the otherwise smooth metal deck. The mixture of sand and water, with just a touch of glue, would make a nice easy surface to walk across. Such forethought was what had allowed his crew to survive storms and more. The captain noticed one younger member leaning against the rail.

“You there! What do you think you're doing? Lunch wasn't even two hours ago! Get your arse down on the ground and start scrubbing before I call Flotsam up here to clip your fat rear!” he barked. The sailor nodded boorishly and slowly fetched a bucket full of scrub. Captain Sachiel stood and watched for fifteen minutes to make sure the young man did not simply slack off again. It was weak links like this sailor that caused the rare failures of the Reckless. It was failures like those that kept the Captain from being an Admin. As Richard turned on his heal, one of the gunmen was right behind him.

“Captain, the other ship is in range of the long guns. Shall I fire a warning shot?”

Richard smiled. At least some people around here knew how to get things done. It came as no surprise, really. The Captain always made sure that tasks someone else could do were delegated appropriately.

“Yes, yeoman, just off their starboard. If we don't catch them in half an hour, fire another.”

The gunner nodded and briskly returned to the bridge. No sooner had he gotten in the gun house than the turreted guns started to pivot. The three, glimmering barrels of the ship's biggest guns angled appropriately, and a brief siren sounded on deck. Sailors covered their ears as a deafening blast from the gun sent a shell towards the other ship. A massive explosion of water near the other ship definitely sent the signal. Stop. Richard grinned openly. Firepower like this is what kept the Aqua Empire on top, no matter what the slimy rebels tried.

What happened next was remarkable, a surprise, and rather upsetting. The watchman in the crow's nest shouted that bird pokemon, big ones, were all disembarking from the ship. “It looks like...yeah. They're carrying voltorbs!”

Richard's eyes widened for the briefest moment, before he dashed up to the bridge, orders already thought out.

“Stow and tie the sails, full steam! All guns to bore! Get on it before they get on us, or you're overboard! Move, move!” the Captain shouted. This was a secret that not many people knew, but the Reckless and other ships like her were rather vulnerable to aerial attacks. The birds were getting closer rapidly, and even the seasoned riggers couldn't pull the huge blue sails in fast enough. As the first kamikaze voltorbs were released, the sailors began to panic. This was the time for command. “Scatter! Move!” Captain Sachiel shouted through the loud speaker. Sailors tried to run for cover, but the explosions that ensued were fast and hard. Sailors were knocked left and right as wave after wave of Voltorbs were dropped and carried off. There has to be a way to counter this, the Captain thought to himself. It was a clever attack, fast and powerful. But why treat the symptom when you can treat the cause?

“Open fire on the enemy ship! I don't care if they're blown to splinters! Fire all now!”

Even through the flaming sails, the Captain could see bursts of fire blasting the enemy ship in two. By the time the smoke cleared, the rear half of the rebel ship had been shot clear away. The guns also had an unexpected effect, the thunderous blasts disorienting the enemy birds and sending them flying in every direction. “Heh, nothing like a good punch in the gut to send the enemies running.” the Captain mused as the other ship tilted backwards in the water. The ship had probably about forty five minutes before it went under. It was time to take prisoners. The captain grinned.

Pokemon:

Species: Kingler
Nickname: Flotsam
Personality: Flotsam is actually rather independent of his master, and is demanding of people he doesn't respect. The token alpha male, Flotsam bosses both people and pokemon around. He is, however, quite smart for a Kingler, and can interpret even diplomatic situations well. His additional girth makes him a bit of a glutton, but this is not too much of a problem, as he likes to eat the barnacles off of the Reckless's keel, saving the crew an extra hassle. He'll often demonstrate his authority with shows of his immense power, such as pushing over heavy rigging spools or raising the ship's anchor by himself.
Moveset:

Shinichi Misao

Pokemon Professor
Name: Alexander Alighieri
Age: 27
Sex: Male
Hometown/Area: Johto, Rage Settlement (A.k.a. Lake of Rage)
Appearance: He has pale-yellowish skin with black circles tattooed around his forearms. The tattoos are spiked with small curves coming out of both sides all around it with two extending and intertwining around like grape vines stopping with a star shaped tattoo just barely away from the tips. His hands are covered with leather gloves He has dark-brown eyes that almost look like they can consume all shadows, leaving the world full of blinding light. His hair is short black as midnight. His right ear is nicked at two spots with a jade broach pierced into his bottom lob.
He wears a white, loose, linen under shirt with cuffs that go up and over his thin, black, leather jacket. The jacket is coated with gold insignias and religious images sown onto his jacket. He wears black linen pants with thick leather boots. His hands are covered with thick black gloves with gold moons imprinted on the backs. His collar has silver rims and he wears a silver fleur de leis hanging just around his neck. His outer left pocket holds a gold stopwatch with a chain that tucks into his jacket.

Personality: He was the shunned by society type, even before he became a Pirate. His political debates always involved radical ideas that no one in his city would accept. His ideas were always against slavery, segregation, castes, classes, alienation, and ethnic equality. He is a brilliant military tactician, but would never share his ideas for wars that would be fought for no just or pure reason.
After years of having his ideas ridiculed, he looked to emotionally cleansing his body. He worked at it until his emotions never surfaced above and he stuck to pure reason and science to decide all factors. He even mocked love, saying that it was impure, irrational, and uncontrollable and that only fools would fall in love (This is after his wife dies).
History: Born into a very rich family, Alex’s life was continuously controlled by his father, who was a Carpenter/Shipwright. Just to mock his father and rebel, Alex would seduce, or even rape, every maid in their household, he would cause ‘accidents’ to occur on the cooks, and he would ridicule and oppress his mother and siblings. His life was so hazardous that it didn’t stop there. On the weekends, where he wouldn’t return until Monday night, he would go out to village taverns and pubs, and cause fights with the first man he laid eyes on.
One day, his father grew sick of his behavior, and gave him one last chance to redeem himself before he disowned him: Deliver an important product to a duke in the neighboring settlement. To assist him on his travels, his father gave him a Sneazel, named Jessie, for protection. On the trip, Jessie took care of many problems, bandits, rouge Pokemon, but then a potential thief attacked them. She used a Hitmontop, but the two were dead even. Finally, Alex was able to subdue her long enough to make her run away, if not before seeing her face.
The next day, Alex made his way to Fort Mahogany; a small compound used during the old wars. After finding the Duke’s manor, he made his way to be introduced and to deliver his package. The Duke was nothing like what Alex had imagined, he was jolly, pleasant, and sack of joy. After hearing that Alex was the son of the Duke’s friend, he immediately offered Alex his daughter’s hand. Wanting nothing more than to leave his father’s house for good and the exciting proposal of having connections to a Duke, Alex agreed without haste. But after laying eyes on his bride-to-be, he had second thoughts. It’s not that she was ugly, or fat, far from it, she was beautiful Alex thought, it was just that she was the very same person that attacked him the day before. When the Duke left them to get to know each other, they instantly erupted into a heated battle with their Pokemon.
Years went by, and the two developed a powerful love towards each other. Realizing that they were both victims of overly controlling fathers, they quickly opened their hearts to one another and fell deeply in love. Then, Team Aqua hit. Alex’s newly married wife was shot by a grunt for resisting Aqua’s new reign. After doing nothing to protect his love, Alex shut himself away, doing nothing but training and growing stronger with his Pokemon. He then, after training for three years, joined the Blind Faith to exact revenge on Team Aqua.
Skills: After fighting in bars for years, he has become very versatile in fights, able to use whatever’s handy with ease and skill. He is extremely skilled in fencing, it’s just I didn’t know how to put that into his story plot. Having lived under a Duke for a while, Alex has impressive intelligence in finances and music, as well as haggling and dealing from his father. He is also has a natural skill for Warfare, giving him an edge when under attack.
Ship: Blind Faith
Job: Pokemon Coordinator
Other: Can’t eat tomatoes and loves fish (perfect for a pirate).

RPG Sample: Naruto: Contest of Peace
Shinichi flew back and smashed himself into a tree. His opponent laughed maniacally as he walked forward. “Give Up! You’ll never beat me if you get knocked away after one hit.” But Shinichi only leapt into the air, preparing a Wind Scythe Slash. Sadly the enemy only caught the blade with one hand. His palm glowed earthly brown and resembled stone. “Your petty sword attacks are useless against my Stone Skin Kekkei Genkai!”

Shinichi leapt away, keeping a good grip on his sword. It was the only thing keeping him away from certain death. His teammates were already at the destination he hoped. And he needed to join up. So the quickest way to deal with this Golem is Genjustu? Heh, poor sap is dead. He concentrated his chakra into his sword, summoning all dead chakra from the field to the sword. His handle opened up, and a grotesque skull tied with red muscle appeared between the two halves. It had become the Sword of the Lost Light.

First I’ll restrict his movements! He thought. “Surround us with, the Netherworld Prison!” He screamed to his sword, plunging it into the earth. Soon a purplish-red cage formed around the two. His enemy’s face went pale, scared out of his wit’s end at the sight of the cage. These were very dangerous arts, so it gave him plenty to fear: But not yet.

Shinichi held up the hilt so that it faced his enemy. The empty eye sockets seemed to stare endlessly into his heart. He began his justu [OOC. All NecroJustus have no hand signs], “Sonnet of 100 Undead Warriors!” [This is all an illusion up ahead] He screamed as hundreds of white ghostly demons shot out from the skulls eyes and mouth. They flew endlessly towards the enemy, merging into a single giant skull that looked like it had swallowed the enemy halfway.

Reality: The enemy screams in pain, holding his head as if it wasn’t there. He was on his knees when Shinichi came over and said, “Don’t worry. It’s only an illusion. Oops, too late!” He giggles softly to himself as the Prison vanished and the sword returned to its natural state.

The enemy collapsed and Shinichi went to check his pulse. Way dead. And this wasn’t even an illusion either, because the man entire psychic had been crushed. Shinichi laid his enemy’s corpse on two lumps and performed an O-Tameshi on the body. Usually the Okoshimono-Bugyoo of the Land of Samurai would perform this act, but there were none.

After the act, Shinichi cleaned his sword by a river and left to rejoin his comrades.

Pokemon:
Each member can only have two Pokemon at maximum, unless they’re the Pokemon Coordinator, who may have three.

Species: Sneazel
Nickname: Jessie.
Personality: Loyal and trusting. She has served Alex for years and will always obey him. She is quirky and perky, loves to hear harpsichord music, and despises those who abuse power. She is very human and uses a lot of body language. She distrusts people whom she just met, but will completely trust those who she knows.
Moveset: Each attack has the same requirements, but I’ll list their uses for clarification (Metal Claw=Kunai strikes at mid-range, Ice Punch/Faint Attack=Close range combat, and Ice Shard=Long range Shuriken strikes).

Species: Hitmontop
Nickname: N/A
Personality: Hitmontop evolved from a Hitmonlee, so he is a Pokemon of few words. His actions are always louder and he tends to be the first on Alex’s team to start fighting. He is very resourceful and tends to know a lot more the other Pokemon. He can be very hard to deal with seeing as Alex adopted him.
Moveset: Detect, Blaze Kick, Rapid Spin, Rolling Kick, Mega Kick, Brick Break, Hi Jump Kick, and Endure.

Handy?

It's that one guy
Name: Charles ‘Scott’ McCarthy
Age: 31
Sex: Male
Hometown/Area: What would become Lilycove, at the time similarly named Lily’s Cove, after a former princess Lily who was one of the cities most well known villagers three hundred odd years prior.
Appearance: Scott is a fairly average height, fairly muscled fellow, his skin color being slightly tanned due to the amount of time he spends out in the elements. Being outside most of the year, his clothing generally has to be something that is fairly warm, yet interchangeable on different days. Currently, his clothes collection consists of the following: A fairly large blue and white bandanna which can almost always be found on his head; a brown waistcoat with a variety of scratch marks and impurities from the amount of time he’s owned it; a white undershirt, or what was a white undershirt but is generally more of a grey color due to the lack of cleaning supplies; a brown vest worn to keep him warm on the sea; a brown leather belt with two pokeballs attached along with his weapon of choice, a cutlass; a pair of brown, tattered trousers which are slightly too small due to wearing them for a few years prior and finally a pair of deep black shoes, which is perhaps the only part of his uniform that he keeps in clean conditions, shining his shoes whenever he can get the resources and time to do so. He also occasionally wears a pair of brown gloves on his hands, and even sometimes wears shoulder pads for Faith to sit on while they move. The cutlass itself is nothing particularly special, bought of a rebellion merchant and wielded proudly against the guns that Aqua use in battle. He wears no jewelry, and no form of expensive clothing, so it is often difficult for enemies to work out that he’s the captain of the ship, unless of course they watch him commanding his shipmates, in which case it becomes a lot more obvious as you would expect. He often keeps his shirts sleeves rolled up above his elbows, so that they don’t get in the way while he works.

Scott has a quite stern appearance gained over the years face wise. His eyebrows are generally quite stern looking around those he isn’t familiar with, and his deep brown eyes can be somewhat intimidating to some. His long, mud brown hair goes a fair bit down his back, feeling no need to cut his hair at the back as it generally fails to get in the way of his work. His mouth is generally always neutral in expression unless a good joke has been told, in which case a slight upwards curve may occur. He has quite a small nose, and his cheeks aren’t that plump, his face not looking inviting at all. At the front, his hair is almost completely trimmed, or covered up by the bandanna at least. He can’t stand hair getting in the way of his vision. At any time he may well have different cuts or bruises on his body due to small skirmishes. He has often expressed how much he disliked the time he spent while having a beard, now refusing to have anything beyond small stubble, a clean shave being difficult to achieve without any useful technology to do so. A small knife is kept in the back of his long white socks, strapped on to his skin in case of an emergency situation in which his sword and Pokemon are removed.
Personality: Scott McCarthy is a royalist through and through, so he therefore acts always as such. Any time his past king or present king is insulted, he’ll stand up against whoever the insulter is, including times when he is largely outnumbered. He is bold and courageous, but not foolhardy, and has abandoned ship once before because he realized the odds were stacked far against him. His love of his nation also leads onto his disgust and hate of Team Aqua and all they stand for. He isn’t a religious man, but he still believes that there should be some sort of hellish place reserved for those who willingly enlist in their forces after they die. Despite his hate for the leaders of Aqua themselves, he can’t help but dislike those who joined Aqua after the king died. In his eyes, this should deserve a lot more punishment than the original members. Fond memories of his past life with his father are now being tarnished with the home he always knew being destroyed, and he feels that rebellion is vital to the survival of the world, so he lent his ship and all crew members towards the valuable effort. Anyone who doesn’t want to fight against Aqua could find a different ship, as far as he was concerned.

Because of his hate of Aqua, he also finds the treasures they brought back from the future horrible creations. Trying his best not to use any unless vital, the only technology he actively endorses are Pokeballs, but that’s simply because it makes it easier to take the partners of the pirates along with them. He doesn’t believe it’s too cruel if the Pokemons ‘owner’ let’s their Pokemon out for most of the time, and from what Tock had told him, the pokeballs were actually quite nice places to be. His love for Pokemon is an obvious part of his personality, and he believes that Pokemon themselves are far more powerful weapons than cannons or guns when used properly. He doesn’t encourage fighting with them unless necessary, rather encouraging people to try and befriend their Pokemon partners as much as possible, as he believes he had done with his two Pokemon partners. He will take part in the occasional Pokemon battle, but only to keep his Hypno and Wingull in shape. A special place in his heart is reserved for the psychic type, as they are the only ones who can truly act as a bridge between the minds of human and Pokemon, not to mention the fact they are especially good at helping the ships progress. Anyone who misuses the Pokemon in any way is treated as an enemy of Scotts.

When around other people, his personality can differ. With women, he generally takes on a more gentlemanly approach, unless of course he’s facing them in battle, in which case his personality often changes to one of admiration. He treats his ships crew like friends, learning anything about them that they’re willing to share so he can set them tasks more appropriately. He speaks to seniors with a respectful tone depending on how much older they are than him, people only a few years older being treated like any other person of their ‘category’. He dislikes proper pirates, those who hunt for treasure and ambush ships rather than sail in rebellion such as his ship is doing, not seeing the point in fighting for neither side when the fate of the world is at stake. If the rebellion were to be crushed, however, he knew he would be living with a much cleaner conscience than the neutral soldiers who stood by and did nothing in its vital moments.

History: Lily’s Cove, the most beautiful place in existence. Or at least, that was the opinion of the young Charles McCarthy, born to a large but loving family of six siblings. His father was a captain of a small fishing boat; nothing special, but nonetheless his. Because of the busy timetable that his father went through daily, Charles lived very much without a father figure in his life, choosing a role-model in the nations King (as many of the children of Lily’s Cove did). He would get up early every morning to see the King make his daily parade through the kingdom, watching in awe as the man walked straight through the town center in regal robes and a brilliant crown Charles knew he would never have a chance of wearing. Nonetheless, he still aspired big, promising himself that he’d dedicate his life to serving the King as soon as he was able. His older brother signed up to join the royal guard as soon as he was able, and his older sister started training to be a seamstress, aspiring one day to help make the Kings robes herself, though the chances of that happening were very small indeed. His brother became a sort of role-model to him also, and he would often perform simple tasks like polishing his brother’s sword and armor to make him feel that he was contributing to the war effort. His mother always claimed to be extremely proud of him, and although she spent most of the day at work as a seamstress like Charles’s sister, she would always find time for him, unlike his father. Having no father figure didn’t seem to damage him too much in the long run; in fact, it seemed to help him for the early portion of his life. Until further events changed the way he lived forever.

One day, a rebel group in what would eventually be Mossdeep ambushed one of the King’s finest ships, killing all aboard and claiming the ship as their own. Quickly and efficiently, the King ordered a large portion of his navy out to regain what was his favorite ship, and even temporarily drafted the fishing boats into help, leaving only two or three boats in the capitals dock. Plenty of foot soldiers still remained, including Charles’s brother, but none of them could have possibly been enough to stop the coming onslaught. The few remaining boats saw it coming from a while off, and warning got to the King and his soldiers in time. However, this would mean sacrificing the capital city in its entirety, and the King would not allow this. Those citizens who valued their lives fled, and Charles was among them, his brother dismissing any chance of the boy staying to fight at his age of eleven. The rebels came en masse, swarming into the city and cutting away any who stood in their way while Charles managed to find a decent hiding place. Seeing the huge and unexpected amount of people that had flooded in, the gates of the royal homes were sealed completely, rebels banging against the gates but having no chance of breaking through.

So, they turned their anger to the people of the town. Slamming through doors, slaughtering any that were foolish enough to stay in plain sight, thousands of the women and children of the land died. Eventually, the navy returned, having worked out the distraction plan, and a large portion of the rebellion was rounded up, tied together, and dumped off the edge of a ship into the ocean; a traditional death for those who fought against the navy. A town wide funeral was held, and Charles returned to what he considered hell on earth. Returning to his home, he found the door smashed down and the interior ruined. He searched for any form of relative, and eventually found his brother, who was sitting with his back to the royal gate, head in hands. Upon seeing Charles, he ran up and hugged him as hard as he could, confusing Charles considerably. When he was about to question, he saw his brothers face, and it hit him like a horde of stampeding Tauros. He tried to ask who it was, but he didn’t have the strength to speak. His brother saved him the trouble by blankly stating that both Charles’s mother, older sister, and three younger siblings had all been killed in the attack. He didn’t react for a long moment, simply staring blankly at the ground. He didn’t even notice when his brother lifted him up and carried him. Tears slowly drifted out of his eyes, and he lost all comprehension for how much time was passing by. They eventually reached Lilly’s Coves pier, at which point the pairs father came rushing out to great them. It suddenly hit Charles that he didn’t once think about what his father’s safety was, not once asking about what had happened to him. It worried him that their relationship was that poor.

From then on he was considered a sailor aboard his fathers fishing boat. His father refused to let him return to the Cove for a long time, but his brother returned as soon as he was finished morning, returning to his duty and moving slowly up the ranks. Peace lasted for another ten years, the King Sebastian having a son, and the entire kingdom extremely joyous with the event. Charles was the captain of the small fishing boat now, his father slowly edging into retirement with his withering body. The time was truly one of peace, but Charles still felt uneasy. He had always wanted to be a part of the king’s army, and as much as he had grown to love his father, he still wanted to be part of the military. Choosing to give his father a proper farewell rather than leaving a note, he understood, giving the role of captain to one of the younger and less experienced crew members, but a reliable one at least. So, Charles signed up for the military, being assigned as the member of a ship called the Blind Faith, at the time being captained by the fairly young Scott Ranson. The pair instantly struck up a friendship, even if Charles was currently assigned only as a Crows Nest. The Captain was kind, fair, and really the first proper non-sibling friend that Charles had obtained. He was also at this point more introduced to Pokemon as friends. Prior to this he obviously had seen the creatures and what they could do, but the captains extreme willingness to use the creatures made Charles look into them a bit more. The first Pokemon he considered a friend was a Wingull that often came and sat on his work post, who he nicknamed Faith after the ship.

Times seemed perfect, but generally perfection never lasts long, and half a year after signing up, Aqua arrived. He was at sea at the time of the Kings death, so he didn’t bear witness, only hear about it through messengers who managed to flee from the attack. Even the Kings son, Alexander, had been killed in the attack, a move that even pirates would most likely not resort too. Scott was a royalist as Charles was, and refused to let this army take over their land without a fight, so the Blind Faith soon heading inwards, ready to fight back. Unfortunately, they didn’t have the chance, having been so far out that Aqua managed to summon both legendaries before they had any chance of reacting. The great flood came rather suddenly, and although they were on a boat that survived, Charles couldn’t help but feel slightly worried for his brother and father, his last living relatives. Once the flood had ended, and new land had been raised from the sea, they thought they would be safe. They were wrong. A raiding party of Team Aqua arrived and hunted down everyone on the ship. Charles knew he would perish surely, so he did something that he would never admit to anyone, the ultimate dishonor; he abandoned ship. Thankfully, they were fairly close to a port, so he was picked up promptly. When asked to introduce himself, he did something he would regret perhaps even more. He knew that the people wouldn’t help a simple crows nest get back his ship, but a captain? He introduced himself as Captain Scott McCarthy, and pleaded for the ship to help. Being a much larger ship than the Faith, they decided to help, and soon Scott was reunited with his pride and joy.

It seemed, however, that all the members of the ship had been removed. He was unsure whether they had perished or had simply been captured, but he decided that it wasn’t worth the risk to search for them yet. Using the help of some of the larger boats crew, they sailed to Taurus Isle, the rebellions newfound base. He docked his ship in the bay, and spent the next few months trying to recruit members for his ship. He gathered a decent amount, and decided that he would be ready to depart in a few days. Conveniently, a shipment of stolen Pokeballs arrived in the isle, and Scott could hardly believe his luck. He had always loved working with Pokemon prior, and haggled a good portion for those crew members that had not yet received any pokeballs. He instructed them that these pokeballs, and perhaps medicine, and once they all understood they set off, Scott being completely inexperienced as a captain but at least putting on a good act. He would never let anyone know what he had done. For the next few years, the ship helped with various rebellion efforts, stealing resources from the foe and helping plan towards the major strikes. He got the crew all more involved with battling alongside their Pokemon partners, and time and time again refused to allow modern technology into his ship. He also captured two of his Pokemon along the way, Faith and Tock.
Skills: He’s generally a talented leader, and his swordsmanship skills are quite high due to skirmishes in the past. He has horrible accuracy with guns, bows, and other long distance weapons, but can just amount manage to wield most hand weapons efficiently, even if not in the way they are designed to be used. He is a fairly quick runner, and has very good penmanship, as well as fast reading skills. Can also vaguely navigate a map, but not good enough to run the navigation alone for more than a few hours.
Ship: Blind Faith
Job: Captain
Other: He intends to discretely find information about his former shipmates whereabouts, as well as his two remaining family members.

Pokemon:

Species: Wingull
Nickname: Faith
Origin: The Wingull that made its nest in the Crows Nest, and his only original companion.
Personality: Faith is a persistent little creature, having been on the ship since a few years before Scott signed up, and still managing to look after her nest even today, even if she doesn’t really have any need for it other than a comfortable place to sleep. As you may have figured out, her favorite place in the ship is the Crows Nest, able to see all across the nearby ocean from that high up, as well as being able to fly around without getting in the way of anything. As stated before, she is extremely persistent, and once she realizes that she wants something, you’ll never hear the last of her. Constant pecking to the face and body of Scott is often a good way to get what she wants, and even enlisting Tock to help is occasionally needed if she’s going to get what she desires. She loves trinkets, and anything she manages to collect will be taken up and stored in her nest. If the Crows Nest takes any of her possessions, she knows instantly, and the person in that position would be soon enough be being forced to give her the item back. Battle wise, Faith is rarely used in comparison to Tock, rather used to scout the area around the ship and bring Scott any information regarding the rebellions current movements. If used in battle, hit and run tactics are employed as much as possible, as the poor bird can’t take much more than one or two hits.
Moveset: Supersonic, Quick Attack, Pursuit, Tailwind, Aqua Ring, Twister, Air Slash, Water Pulse

Species: Hypno
Nickname: Tock
Origin: Traded to a merchant for a good portion of a modern cargo taken from an Aqua ship. Scott considered it a good deal.
Personality: Tock is the ‘fighter’ out of Scotts two Pokemon, purchased a while ago from a merchant and used regularly ever since. The Hypno loves its position on ship as one of the captains Pokemon, being heavily power hungry (which was the main reason he allowed himself to be captured by the merchant in the first place). Intimidating foes and allies alike is something that he loves to take part in, putting opponents to sleep and giving them nightmares often, unless given a specific order from his trainer not too. He wouldn’t usually take orders, but he knows that if Scott released him, he’d have to work his way back from square one again, something he refuses to do. Being a translator for his trainer to Pokemon has its perks. Firstly, he can change the translation on the Pokemon side to make Scott believe that a Pokemon means something it really doesn’t (quite amusing events having happened because of this), and secondly is the fact he knows that he is a vital part of his trainers team, and therefore currently irreplaceable. His Psychic abilities are useful in battle, and in the few training battles he has against Faith he generally wipes the floor with the bird, disabling the one move that can cause him major issues, supersonic. Considering himself to be the most powerful Pokemon on the ship is a bit of a stretch, but as his trainer refuses to let him battle a large majority of the ships teams, it’s fair enough for him to make some form of assumption. He shares the common distaste for Team Aqua that his trainer has, but simply for the fact they hold more power than him over anything else.
Moveset: Hypnosis, Nightmare, Disable, Poison Gas, Psychic, Future Sight, Magic Coat, Thunderpunch.

Denied. Honestly, everything that needs any form of length is too short. Fix it up to a decent standard if you wish to get in.

Ka-Ra-Tay!

Name: Daniel Clowes (Dan for short, although he does answer to the word “idiot” (or some other offensive name) on occasion.)

Age: 23

Sex: Male

Hometown/Area: In the desert area of what would be Route 111, near what would be Mauville City. It is a desert bordered by the traces of jungle on the right. Further into the trees is a small river. On the left is a rocky expanse that borders the other half of the village. More description in the history.

Appearance: Sitting at about 5”7 – 5”8, Daniel is slightly above the average height. He has a thin, lanky figure that often gives the illusion of physical weakness. In truth, he has a fair amount of physical strength, most of it concentrated into his lower torso. His skin is permanently tan from early exposure to the sun’s rays in the desert, and scars of past burns seem to creep down his flesh.

His hair, a light brown that changes brightness in different light, hangs just above his eyes in a scraggily mess. Dirty and salt-stained, it is cut poorly and unevenly, with some parts being longer than others. A faint spot of skin can be seen near the left side of his head, highlighting where the knife cut too close to the skin. A faint trace of red can be found at the tips of the right side of his hair.

His face takes on an oval-ish shape. His eyes are green in color, changing brightness in different light like his hair. Along the left side of his cheek is a scar leftover from a wild Tenticruel. His right eyebrow is thin; his left eyebrow had been accidentally shaved off. He often wears a wide, mischievous smile that heightens his joking, slightly immature personality.

Daniel wears a thin white shirt that opens into a wide v, along with a pair of trousers that have been treated with tar to make them waterproof. He keeps a small bag of sand in his pocket, along with a dagger for emergencies. In his hair, he also wears a thin string of red, blue, and green beads. While he enjoys walking around the deck barefoot, he owns a pair of worn boots and a pair of socks with holes in the heels. In colder weather, he sports an old, threadbare leather jacket that has been ravaged with holes.

Personality: Quirky, absent-minded, and slightly out of his league, Daniel is the type of person that you’d see in an asylum on the weekends. Luckily, asylums don’t exist.

He is very lazy, slouching at his post and staring dully into the distance. He hates being restricted to his duties, and often lies to shirk work. With this laziness, however, comes pride; his ability to do absolutely nothing for lengthy periods of time is a gold medal shining into people’s eyes, as he tends to brag about his non-accomplishments to his Pokémon. Calm and indifferent, he has a slow-temper, able to shrug off even the harshest of comments and retaliate with his usual “eh” response or some other guttural sound.

His vocabulary consists of the English language and several guttural sounds, each with their own meaning. Often times, he will reply with such a sound, using “ay” as “yes” and “ugh” as no. Despite this, he can be quite a chatterbox and can easily start up a conversation with someone, even if they don’t necessarily want to talk to him. He enjoys speaking to his ever-silent Pokémon in lengthy (and usually one-sided) conversations, a talent that easily allows him to make a fool of himself at almost any period of the day. He often “translates” the conversation to curious watchers; if the Pokémon are actually speaking or if Daniel is a loon is still up for debate.

While he appears dim-witted to some, Daniel is quick to notice things. He is skilled at finding even the smallest abnormalities from a long distance away, and is quick to spot ships approaching from afar. He has a photographic memory; therefore, he can remember a figure if he were able to see them for only an instant. While he is excellent at remembering people’s faces, he is terrible at remembering their names, occasionally forgetting the titles of even his closest crew members. Likewise, he has the reading and writing abilities of a fourth grader. He enjoys a good drawing and partially worships anyone who can draw well. Writers… well, he could care less about them.

He doesn’t care much for organization, and only cleans his station every other week. Often times, his station attracts the stowaway Rattata on board who are looking for scraps. Oddly enough, his Pokémon don’t mind the mess; perhaps they’re just used to it.

Despite his overall fun-loving, slightly eccentric exterior, Daniel is by no means gullible. He often carries great distrust towards others, and it takes an intense amount of effort for him to truly view a person as “honest”. But while he may be distrustful, he holds some loyalty to his ship and his captain, doing what he is told… when he feels like doing it.

He doesn’t care much for physical combat in general, not because he can’t defend himself, but because it takes too much effort. For emergencies, he keeps a rusty dagger, a weapon that works better at giving victims tetanus than cutting through skin. He does, however, enjoy Pokémon battling. Rules don’t come to mind much in Pokémon battles, and so he’ll often launch an attack without regards to such laws. His battle style involves attacking from a safe distance, waiting for an attack, then retaliating, patiently watching as his opponents lose energy and health.

History: They called it a village of sand; a town of nomads living in a secluded part of the desert. It was a small town, composed of barely 1,000 people, almost all of whom were of the generations who had inhabited the land before. It was composed of a main city, and a distance away was the palace. A smaller castle than most, it made up for its size with the dazzling stones laid on its foundation and its many sparkling windows. There lived the leader of the nomads: “King” Xavier IX, who himself was much more a peasant than royalty. A strategic planner and a good swordsman, he made up for the size of the city through occasionally dirty but always well-planned tactics. However, nothing could have prepared him for the war that was yet to come.

The village was the sole guardian of the Ruby Cave, otherwise known as the Cave of Exploding Rocks, a cavern known for its precious red stones… and the creatures that lived inside it. Every Pokémon who lived in the cave, regardless of type or species, knew the move Explosion, and would quickly detonate upon spotting a stranger. Those who entered the cave and came out without being terribly burned were often regarded as heroes; those who didn’t survive were labeled as fools. The cavern, like the desert, was said to be cursed by the deity Kyogre, who would not enter a land that Groudon had made without its consent. Because of this, it was rumored that Groudon himself lived inside the cave. There wasn’t much one could do about such a rumor; the exploding Pokémon of the cavern made spelunking of any kind impossible. Still, it was the goal of every young man in the village to escape the cavern holding the largest ruby anyone could possibly dream of, but many tried, and many more failed.

Daniel was born into the Clowes family, a long list of lower-class generations who did much but were known for little. The sting of short finances was a curse that seemed unchangeable; for years, the family had sought to gain even an ounce more of wealth, but each attempted proved to be a failure. His parents looked to Daniel as yet another chance to gain favor in the eyes of their fellow citizens. Almost immediately after his tenth birthday, they put him to work, training him in every knowledge they knew. But their goals and Daniel’s goals were quite different. Instead of winning at life, Daniel wanted to live through life. Hard work was not in his schedule.

In between shirking his duties and small elapses of free time, Daniel would relax in the rocky areas near the village. Of course, he always stayed away from the cursed cavern - the gruesome stories about men who had lost limbs frightened him. Instead, he created a small fort a safe distance away in the rock. It was a strategical point; from there, he could see a good portion of his house, yet was concealed from view. Occasionally, he would sleep in his fort to prevent himself from waking up in the early morning.

It was one of these days that Daniel was woken up, bright and early, to the sound of crowing. Staring directly into his eyes from above was a Natu, a pudgy green bird with a curious expression. The sight of seeing a Natu in his face caused him to scream and almost fall off the rocky cliff side. Oddly enough, the bird didn’t move. Curiously, Daniel stood up and stared. The bird stared back. He walked a few feet away. The Natu followed. And an odd relationship began to form.

At first, the short green bird was a nuisance, doggedly following Daniel wherever he went. But it was handy having a partner, and Daniel taught his Pokémon every skill it needed for doing nothing at all. The two became a literally inseparable pair, shirking work together and spying from their hideout among the rocks. Spying was the Natu’s favorite hobby, it seemed, and Daniel grew to enjoy the activity. By only a year of having met, they knew a good deal of schedules, blackmail, and hobbies from different people around the city.

But peace is not destined to last forever. The days came, creeping, cunning days that the vicious Team Aqua sought to control. In only a few flashes of battle, Aqua had taken control of Lilycove, killing King Sebastian and his son, Alexander. But news traveled slow to the people of the desert. By the time the news of the kings death had arrived, Aqua had docked its ships on a port nearby.

One day, as Daniel and Natu, who was now called Hesoc, were performing their usual stalking scheme on a few weary passerby, the faint forms of figures appeared from behind a rocky expanse far away. Sensing a disturbance, Hesoc stared coldly in the direction of the stranger, and Daniel followed. Only a blur of blue-and-black from so far away, it was still easily distinguishable; Team Aqua member. Better yet, an army of Team Aqua member.

Leaving his hiding place, he ran into the town square, screaming about pirates in the desert. Yes, pirates. In the desert. There was a reason why no one believed him, and it wasn’t just because he was partially insane. But only five minutes after his warnings did the sound of a gun being shot echo across the cavern. Scrambling to their weapons, the soldiers of the village armed themselves for a long-lasting fight as King Xavier appeared from his castle with a sword in hand. Moments later, Team Aqua appeared on the horizon, and instantaneous the cries and shouts of battle began. During the scramble, Daniel did what any self-respected, courageous young lad would do; he tried to flee from the fighting. As he did so, an Aqua member spotted him, and pointed his gun In a strange, powerful whirl, Daniel suddenly found himself in the thin jungle nearby. Turning frantically, he spotted his village in the distance. An explosion ricocheted off the roof of a building. Terrified, Daniel ran once again.

Finally, a good deal into the forest, he stopped to catch his breath. How had he suddenly appeared in the forest? He looked around his surroundings, spotting Hesoc standing nearby. A feather on the top of its head, bleeding, now sported a small hole near the tip. Suddenly, it dawned on him; Hesoc had Teleported them away from the battle before the bullet could reach its target. Leaning down, he patted the bird on the head. The pudgy little creature had saved his life. But this celebration couldn’t last for long. A deep cry resounded from afar. In horror, the two watched as huge monster seemed to rise from the land.

And so, the two partners left their doomed city running like wild animals through the jungle. It was long after the event that they eventually learned of the battles details. Team Aqua had captured and kept enough ground long enough for their leader to awaken Groudon and to capture it in a Fusion Ball. With Groudon now on their side, Team Aqua overwhelmed Xavier’s forces. Desperately, the King called for the village to evacuate, and ordered his troops to retreat and then rush the Aqua’s forces from all sides. Team Aqua lost men in equivalent to King Xavier, most of the nomads were able to retreat into the rocky expanse, and Matt personally shot King Xavier before crushing him into the dust with Groudon’s rather large foot. You could say that plan worked well, you know, despite the heavy losses on both sides and King Xavier’s death.

Finding a river out of fate’s whim, they followed the flowing water doggedly. Ran began to fall, lightly at first, then heavier, until it became a vicious downpour. Finally, through the dense ran, the two discovered a small port. Sailors frantically boarded their ships before the vessels floated away in the rough seas. While reluctant to get on a boat in an ocean that he couldn’t swim in, there were no other options. Daniel boarded a vessel, appropriately named The Tempest, and sailed away as the thick rain swallowed the land.
The first few months on the ship were horrifying. Working as a grunt under the rule of a bloodthirsty captain and his annoyingly happy Chatot, Daniel could scarcely find time to do nothing between seasickness and labor. Sure, he found many different ways to beat around the bush, but the captain and his mates watched the crew continuously. A man who wasn’t doing his duty well would be thrown overboard, and, well, Daniel didn’t do so well with water.

Eventually, the boat docked at a small island, and Daniel and Hesoc boarded a different ship, named the Shining Pearl. The captain of the Shining Pearl was much different than that of the Tempest; he believed in strictness, but also fairness. While he still frequently hid from his duties, Daniel found that he enjoyed working on the ship just a little more than he did at home in the desert. Perhaps there was another factor that influenced his enjoyment of the waters; Jordan, a cleaner on the Pearl who drew in his spare time. In his free time, Daniel and Hesoc often spied on Jordan’s drawings from the Crow’s Nest. Eventually, however, Jordan found out, but instead of being angry, he invited the two to watch his work. Through Daniel’s love of artwork and Jordan’s approval of an audience, the two became great friends on the ship. Every so often, they would climb into the Crow’s Nest, and Daniel would show Jordan the ropes of eavesdropping. Other times, Jordan would draw and Daniel would watch in amazement, giving tiny remarks and adding his own ideas. Even Hesoc was affected by the relationship; Jordan owned a Magikarp named Pasl that never uttered a single note as Hesoc never had. The two could often be seen staring silently at each other, perfectly still; just as Natu’s like to do.

The team of four stayed on the ship for about two years. During that time, Daniel tested for various jobs on the ship. He was a terrible cook and a terrible cleaner, he was far too lazy to be a grunt and didn’t know enough to be a doctor. But his real abilities appeared in the Crow’s Nest. There, Daniel had a perfect view of everything around him; he could spot other ships that had yet to appear on the horizon, and, best of all, he didn’t have to move frequently. Hesoc proved to be a failsafe seer of danger, helping to steer the boat away from stormy waters, and often aiding the ship with moves such as Tailwind and Haze.

Then it came; a vicious storm that ripped against the ship’s walls. Hesoc had sensed it, and Daniel had seen the storm clouds, but the storm was far too large and far too quick to steer from. Almost instantly, it began a series of terrible winds and thrashing waters, tearing the boat with each clawing wave. As the ship sank into the roaring waters below, the crew frantically grasped floating remains with their life. In the midst of the storm, Jordan was washed away into the waves below, leaving Daniel and Hesoc in the bloodthirsty waters. It was about this time that Hesoc evolved into an Xatu, and, using its newfound power, used a series of Teleports to move the crew as far as it possibly could away from the storm. While it failed to completely rescue the crew and fainted shortly after in Daniel’s arms, the crew was eventually washed onto the few islands still left standing. As the party of the ship quickly recovered and left to find civilization, Daniel spotted a Magikarp flopping frantically on the shore. Picking it up, he woke Xatu and carried it in his arms. The only thing left of Jordan; Pasl, a weak Magikarp who had lived through a powerful storm.

Later at the port, Daniel joined a new ship, this one named The Blind Faith. He quickly assumed the Crow’s Nest position and eventually recovered into his usual cycle of doing relatively nothing. This time, however, he didn’t have Jordan. But, at least, he had something to remember him by.

Skills: As mentioned before, Daniel has the uncanny ability to locate far away objects with great speed. He’s excellent at doing absolutely nothing, and can easily appear and disappear thanks to years of beating around the bush. He’s an excellent spy and enjoys eavesdropping a bit too much. Apparently, he can talk to his Pokémon, (although this may be for show).

Other skills worth to mention are his terrible cooking and cleaning abilites. "Because it takes skill to be such a terrible cleaner and an even worse cook."

Deton the Baltoy

As he was finishing the final touches of his bombs, a siren echoed across the control room. Almost all the guards save a few ran out into the hallways and disappeared from view. Deton chuckled demonically.

“Looks like Blue and Blade succeeded in rousing up an angry mob,” he muttered, patting his new-and-finished bomb happily. It was larger than normal, but it was designed to cause massive structural damage, and the larger the bomb, the better. His chuckle rising to a low laugh, he lifted the bomb with Psychic into a middle crevice in the ceiling. It wasn’t the best place to use such an explosive, but it was the least noticeable.

He noticed a faint movement down the connecting hallway. A Porygon 2 crept into the room, a glazed expression on its face. Chuckling, Deton readied a handful of grenades. Even if the bomb was going to explode, he wanted to have some fun first.

He picked up his egg-shaped communication device and called the other two Pokémon.

“Hey, Blue-Blade!” he said, smiling, “This place is gonna blow sky-high! You’d better run for it!”

A low groan echoed from the other side of the line. Deton’s smile faded.

“… Did one of you guys get shot or something?” he asked. Glancing at the room below, he noticed the Porygon 2 looking around. Something wasn’t right about the way it moved. And it did seem oddly familiar…

“ Listen…” Deton finished, glancing curiously at the Porgyon 2, “I’ll call ya back…”

Deton chuckled and threw two grenades. Something about that Porygon 2 was wrong, alright, but he didn’t really care. He was going to blow something up, whether someone liked it or not.

The grenades exploded upon impact, sending shrapnel into pieces of fine equipment. A few piece guards fired at the ceiling, only to cause a nearby bomb to explode. Pieces of metal and sparks flew across the room as a rain of explosives fell on the people inside. Laughing maniacally, Deton used Psychic to close the doors tightly shut. He didn’t want anyone to interfere.

The bomb up in the ceiling ominously counted down. Hopefully, Blue, Blade, and the other Pokémon would make it out in time. If they didn’t… well, Deton didn’t think about that. But it would most likely end badly.

He threw another handful of explosives down. By the time he was done with this room, there wouldn’t be anything left but pieces of ash and metal.

Pokemon:

Species: Xatu

Nickname: Hesoc, occasionally referred to by Thomas as “The Seer”.

Origin: Became Daniel’s partner in the village of sand out of curiosity as a Natu.

Personality: There isn’t a quieter Pokémon in the world than Hesoc. Emotionless, unmoving, and seemingly life-less, Hesoc stands watch with Daniel in the Crow’s Nest. It is an excellent listener, standing perfectly still during one of Daniel’s rants, yet taking in orders shouted at random moments at a breakneck pace. Although it doesn’t speak, Daniel seems to be able to understand it; whether the Xatu is talking telepathically or that Daniel is being his usual crazy self is still under debate. It is extremely loyal, only taking orders from Daniel, much to the Captain’s chagrin. Like Daniel, it has an uncanny knack at noticing even the tiniest of things from a far distance.

Daniel refers to Hesoc as “The Seer” because he believes that it can see through the borders of time.

In battle, it tends to strike from far away, staying on the defensive side rather than the offensive side. It is used mostly as a support, both to the ship and in battle.

Moveset: Psychic, Ominous Wind, Steel Wing, Confuse Ray, Wish, Teleport, Haze, Tailwind. (Just a note, but Steel Wing can be learned as an egg move and Psychic is learned through level-up.)

------

Species: Magikarp

Nickname: Pasl, occasionally referred to by Thomas as “The Evil One”.

Origin: Taken in by Daniel after its owner’s death.

Personality: Dull, lifeless, and seemingly dead, Chewy is about the most worthless Pokémon a person could have. Like Xatu, it doesn’t tend to talk or move. The only time it shows signs of life is when Thomas feeds it every two days, or when it is in battle. It’s ability to survive on little-to-no food is one of the only reasons that the fish has been allowed to stay.

Daniel refers to Pasl as “The Evil One” because he occasionally blames the fish for certain pranks that have pointed to him. While his constant statements that the fish is evil are usually ignored, there have been a few points in time when the culprit would have to be extremely small… but, hey, it’s a Magikarp.

In battle, it lies perfectly still, then suddenly launches itself at foes. While it isn’t very strong, it can easily knocked a surprised guard off the ship.

Moveset: Splash, Tackle, Flail, and Bounce.

Yup, that's fine. Accepted

Just a note, I do want to start this RP soon, but for that to happen I really need at least one member on the Independence. Or do you guys think it would be better to start now, and introduce the Independence whenever there's a sign up for it? That's really all I'm waiting on now, and with Terean currently away, I'm not sure how long we'll have to wait for his sign up to happen. So, start soon? Y/N?

Kiruria

La Melancolie Noir
Well, I would love to start the RPG soon, but maybe that's a product of me being very excited about this RPG. Tearen is kind of in an odd position, his character being the only Reckless Independence member. I think if we did start this RPG soon, we'd have to keep the signups open just for Team Aqua people (a.k.a. Independence crew). I think the two other ships have a good number of people now... five (maybe four) on the Voracious Curiosity and three (maybe four) on the Blind Faith.

The good thing about this RPG is that it looks likely that the three ships probably won't be confronting each other early on, so even if we did start soon, Tearen and his group won't really miss much. Maybe what we can do is have a Discussion Thread, and in that thread, the captains of the three ships can create posts with a brief summary of the ship's location and recent happenings. That way, if any other ship wants to possibly interact with another, they can keep track of where they are.

But yeah, overall I vote for starting the RPG soon. If we wait much longer, people will be more likely to drop out, and this RPG will thus have a higher likelihood of dying. And we don't want that to happen, do we?
